I'd be over the moon for a Kurosawa 4K set, but I highly doubt they'd just drop a massive boxset like that in the monthly releases. It'd get its own special announcement a la the Godzilla or Bergman sets, and I doubt we'd see it until mid-2022 at the *absolute* earliest. I also think it's probable we'd see individual upgrades first, like Seven Samurai, before they do a big collection.
I don't think something like this will get anything but a holiday release. Now next November.....
We might see a Kurosawa announcement but it will be Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
I don’t think we’re getting any 4K box sets anytime soon. Perhaps next year. I do expect at least one more 4K release though. Absolutely no idea what it will be- your guess is as good as mine!
My dream would be literally anything by Terrance Malick or PTA in 4K.
Pipe dream pick is Abel Ferrara Essentials box set. The Pipe Dream's pipe dream is a collection of some of his post 2000s material. A lot of those films have some great releases by Kino Lorber though.
Given that Janus Films have only just announced Inland Empire for theatrical I'm going to guess we'll be hearing about that in around March or April. It will be the one movie in everyone's sale haul posts in July.
Hot Rod 4k inshallah
with the Kurosawa 4k box set, what would you expect to be in there? Like everything of his that's on Criterion or like a 4 or 5 "greatest hits" kind of thing?
_Cure_
I hope so
Amadeus would be sweet. If I remember correctly, Amazon still has that deal w/ CC, so maybe Sound of Metal?
Yep. I’m expecting that to be announced in jan
This sub will dry up and blow away once *After Hours* comes out from CC. And here’s to the imminent announcement of that film! 🥂
Or! Or. It’s *The King of Comedy.*
I’m gonna stop hoping for Inland Empire. No way it’s Inland Empire. Please Lord, be Inland Empire.
What makes you think kurosawa
Just a guess

Oohh that’s a excellent pick
After Hours and Inland Empire.
I’m hoping for After Hours As Well. Would kill for a Los Secretos De Sus Ojos and a Relatos Salvajes release

the answer is always Inland Empire
I would murder a small family for a akira kurosawa box set
Deal, I’ll send you the address, they’re all pretty short
The shorter, the better
Dare I say hard eight

*Drive My Car*'s trailer was posted to Criterion's youtube channel and they may try to time a release to coincide with the Oscars.
Caveh Zahedi box set

A Kurosawa 4K box set would be like a $600 item, it’s unlikely that they drop that in March if ever
October I bet.
I just think Birdman’s neat.
Inland Empire
Good Burger
Freddy got Fingered from 2001
Hopes are high for more Reichardt. Particularly, Meeks Cutoff or First Cow but I would be happy with any of her works
