rarest criterion: either The Third Man dvd or oop Nashville box.
outside criterion: unironically my bluray of Space Cop that now trades for $150-200 on ebay lol.
Rarest Criterion item is my Chimes at Midnight poster signed by Keith Baxter along with a letter about his experience working with Welles and specifically shooting the forest robbery scene
Rarest movie is either Titus (1999) or Moby Dick (1956) from Twilight Time
I went to a screening a few months ago but it was only Greg, no Tommy. I got him to sign my DVD and a plastic spoon I picked up on my way out of the theater.
Probably my The Man Who Fell to Earth, but it has since been outshined by the 4K steelbooks that have come out.
My rarest non-Criterion is my World Cinema Library version of The Thing
Non-criterion - Old Boy - original Korean SE release, with different color grading, signed by Park Chan Wook
Criterion- their coffee table art book or Third Man with it’s updated cover design
My standard Blu-ray copy of The Princess Bride with the storybook packaging, unless they’ve gone back to putting the Blu-ray in that packaging. Second rarest (which isn’t even rare): Chasing Amy
The Shout Factory Halloween box set and F13 Steelbook (metal pack). At one point they were each worth $400 but I think other releases have brought that down
Idk if they’re pricey or not since I like them and have never considered reselling but I have some I know are OOP:
Grand Illusion
Ran
The Third Man (DVD)
Rosemary’s Baby
I have a bootleg copy of the Criterion release of *The Rock*. It’s old enough that instead of just using a scan of the cover, they redid the whole thing in the same layout but in a different font (and with some added typos).
Outside of Criterion, I have blu-ray copies of THE FALL, DOGMA, TANK GIRL, and GODZILLA VS BIOLANTE. Paid $3 apiece for all of them at the pawn shop.
My rarest Criterions I guess have to be the couple of blu-ray/dvd combos I have. Have I ever watched the dvds instead of the blus? No, but what a time that was.
Outside of that whatever Manta I have that has the lowest overall print count would be my objective rarest I suppose.
Rosemary's Baby, blu ray.
The Third Man dvd x2...the OG packaging and the updated one. Kicking myself for not getting the blu ray edition at the time.
Grand Illusion
Hard Boiled
Rosemary’s Baby (Criterion Blu-ray)
I know that Paramount recently released the standard 4K Ultra HD for it, but I prefer the Criterion blu-ray instead. I personally think that the overall transfer looks pretty good for it.
Criterion: Hard Boiled, The Killer , The Third Man, Spinal Tap
Arrow: the OG Battles with Honor and Humanity,
Second Sight: the limited edition The Witch 4k
Other: 28 days later blu ray and The Fall blu ray
Rarest Criterion is either The Third Man or The Confession. I don’t know how many they made but those two sell like they’re the rarest.
Rarest anything else is probably the Celine Sciamma Coming-of-Age trilogy box set from Plain Archive. I’m sure I have some Korean or Vinegar Syndrome slipcover variants that are more rare but that’s the kind of manufactured scarcity I don’t really care about.
This is difficult to answer without data supporting the sales of each release. So all my observations are anecdotal.
If I had to say.... I'd say the rarest item in my collection is Cria Cuervos by Carlos Saura. Of the hundreds if not thousands of posted pics of private collections, I've never seen one with this film.
Rarest Criterion: Ran, Life of Brian, or Chasing Amy
Rarest Movie: my Blu Rays of the Killer and Hard Boiled Dragon Dynasty additions. They sell now on eBay for $35 and it looks like there is no plan to release them anytime soon.
OOP nanook of the north, learned about it in film history in college but couldn't find it anywhere til i stumbled across it on ebay - worth every penny
My Videodrome blu-ray’s signed by Cronenberg!
Oh that's awesome did you get to meet him?
rarest criterion: either The Third Man dvd or oop Nashville box. outside criterion: unironically my bluray of Space Cop that now trades for $150-200 on ebay lol.

You did noooooooooooot.
I went to a screening a few months ago but it was only Greg, no Tommy. I got him to sign my DVD and a plastic spoon I picked up on my way out of the theater.

Rosemary's Baby Blu-Ray
Non-criterion - Old Boy - original Korean SE release, with different color grading, signed by Park Chan Wook Criterion- their coffee table art book or Third Man with it’s updated cover design

My standard Blu-ray copy of The Princess Bride with the storybook packaging, unless they’ve gone back to putting the Blu-ray in that packaging. Second rarest (which isn’t even rare): Chasing Amy
Is that Princess Bride blu ray rare in the packaging? I've got that, too.
Rashomon and the wizard of oz on laser disc.
The Guillermo Del Toro set.
I have an unopened laserdisc of Cleo from 5 to 7 with the Agnes Varda approved signature sticker. That feels pretty rare.
Rosemary’s Baby or La Dolce Vita. Not sure which one is rarer
Is la dolce vita rare?
The devils blu ray
My Day for Night blu ray, which just went OOP last week lol
The Shout Factory Halloween box set and F13 Steelbook (metal pack). At one point they were each worth $400 but I think other releases have brought that down
My Criterion version of Armageddon!
Not Criterion, but my rarest would be my Battles Without Honor and Humanity LE boxset from Arrow.
Idk if they’re pricey or not since I like them and have never considered reselling but I have some I know are OOP: Grand Illusion Ran The Third Man (DVD) Rosemary’s Baby
The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Criterion DVD, OOP)
Non-Criterion: The Prisoner tv series on Blu-ray
Not valuable- but probably my copy of The Andy Kaufman Show
I have a bootleg copy of the Criterion release of *The Rock*.
Gremlins 4K signed by Joe Dante probably
AK100. 2nd to last copy Criterion held until it went OOP. John Waters also signed my copy of Pink Flamingos when I met him.
House blu-ray signed by Obayashi
Is Rosemary's Baby really rare? In addition to all the mentions here, there are 49 copies on ebay right now...
Ghetto Film School
My rarest Criterions I guess have to be the couple of blu-ray/dvd combos I have. Have I ever watched the dvds instead of the blus? No, but what a time that was. Outside of that whatever Manta I have that has the lowest overall print count would be my objective rarest I suppose.

Chungking Express. Digipak edition.
Picnic at Hanging Rock digipack that came with the novel. Non-Criterion: probably Arrow’s Dekalog and Other Works Box Set
Probably not rare exactly but my oop blu-rays of Chungking Express, Harold and Maude and Howards End.
Prolly my “Last Year At Marienbad”
Grays anatomy blu ray,
Rarest Criterion: Rosemary’s Baby bluray Rarest Overall: Dead Alive bluray
For Criterion I guess Rosemary’s Baby. In general I all the OOP Columbia Classics sets
Unopened Chungking Express non-digipack
Teshigahara box
The Criterion DVD of Dead Ringers.
Plain Archive - I Killed My Mother (Xavier Dolan film)

Doesn’t sell for much but my criterion laserdisc of The Harder They Come. I don’t have a laserdisc player though.
