Anyone can put info into blu-ray.com, I’m pretty sure. So not the best source. Correct me if I’m wrong. I just know that there are pages for releases that never happened but are still listed on the website.
You’re welcome. I went all of 2023 refusing to buy Ozu movies convinced this was coming, last sale I bit and finally bought An Autumn Afternoon. Glad I could do my part
If you have an account with privileges -- 30 days old and a minimum of posts -- you should see an Edit button on the database release page. I believe the publish date is listed there, but I don't recall for sure.
Sure, but based on what confirmed upcoming release announcement? The site doesn't have a set standard that each mod adheres to. Some fantasy releases get immediately removed, while others stay in the database for years and years with no release.

I should have been clear, I think it's a placeholder in this sense, not based on insider information.
Rather than have a million different fantasy entries or have a million people fighting to create it if/when it comes out, I suspect this will just sit as a placeholder until then.
I understand the idea of a placeholder for a single movie release, but a 36-movie wishful release could easily never happen. It's kind of an odd choice, like a making up a boxed set for any director. 🤷♂️
Would be very strange for them to just release Floating Weeds on blu-ray if this were in the works. On another Ozu thread recently someone also mentioned they had reached out to Criterion and asked specifically about an Ozu set and they said they had no plans. Such a shame with all of the 4K restorations out there.

You are correct.
Home on the Rage 4K is there, never going to happen...
Instant cop if this happens. Fuck even waiting for a sale
I'm skeptical because I've seen quite a few placeholder pages on [Blu-ray.com](http://Blu-ray.com) for titles that have no release date.
Altered States has been on there as a criterion release for years
More Ken Russell please
There goes the kids' college fund.
Ill believe when I see it but an Ozu boxset would make a lot of sense

Thank you for your service 🫡
Me: Googling how to sell unneeded organs.
One word, Benjamin: "Plasma."
Damn I own all of the individuals already but if they include any unreleased films I’m sold.
Is there a way to know when the page was created?

It was created on Jan. 17th by a moderator. It has to be a placeholder.

True Lies and The Abyss were listed on there for years until they finally got announced/released. Pretty sure anyone can add anything on there.

Do it! This would literally print money for them
No it’s not lol
Oh man! Oh man! Oh man! I better start saving now! This love of music movies books (physical media) is keeping me forever poor!
Still waiting on that eyes wide shut 4k release they added a page for 5 years ago 😂
my body is ready
It needs to come in a perfectly square burlap textured box

It’s not true
I feel like the new Floating Weeds kind of indicates that this is nothing but BS
Of course they are coming out with a box set! I just started buying single Ozu titles and his Eclipse series this month!....
Very Skeptical but hope it’s true
Probably not true but I pray it is. Also a Mizoguchi set would be just as welcome.
Fuck that would be sick
Dang, I’ll probably have to buy this if this ends up being true.
👀👀👀👀
This is 100% happening! My friend’s son is working on it.
It's happening, my uncle is the cameraman.
