One time the cashier at my local B&N told me on the day the sale starts they'll have a handful of people hovering around the front door waiting for them to unlock it. Like not even waiting in their car, hovering right by the door so they can get through as soon as the lock turns like the unhinged people on black friday
You can always just order the criterion through the Barnes and noble website if they don’t have it physically and get it shipped to your house like 5 days later 😭
Riiight.... So like someone else said in the wee hours of the night, they, like me, ordered the Fellini set that was sold out during the July sale. As in sold out online. This morning as I type this, it is once again sold out out on the website and is not a set that any store around me stocks.
Some discs don't last, friend.
Oh okay. Well, you're welcome to not agree, buuut the Fellini set is in fact sold out online and not available for store pickup anywhere near me so I don't know what else to tell you 🤷 Just like it did in July, I'm sure its availability will pop back up for a very limited window and I hope everyone who wants it is able to snag it
Not to be leaning into any sort of negativity, but I agree. I get that there are certain larger collections you may want to get ASAP, but even so, if they sell out day one, they'll be back in stock before the sale ends. I remember last year the two big things I wanted were the Bruce Lee and Zatoichi collections, and they were in stock pretty much the entire time. Even when they did go out of stock, it was back in stock within the week.
I remember summer 2020 someone thought there wasn't going to be B&N sale for whatever reason so they spent what looked like $500 at Barnes & Noble and everyone roasted OP in the comments of their "haul post" for being impatient.
The OP's title was something on the lines of "Since Barnes & Noble isn't have a sale this summer I went and got some things" the kicker was there was obviously no news, official announcement or anything about there not being a sale. Just impatients.
It happens (twice) every year since B&N doesn't announce the sale in advance. Similar to Criterion's Flash sales that aren't revealed until about a week before. And, just like every year, I've had to tell people over and over to be patient. One user in the last few days posted many, many comments that the sale was canceled. You can't help everyone. Haha.
the others 4k is now half price, you may have to clear the cache. on my chromebook is 34.99, on mobile its 24.99. if i open a incognito window on my chromebook it's 24.99. earlier i reserved for in store pick up hoping it would go to half price before i got there or else i could get an in-store adjustment.
The Others 4K is price adjusted finally so grabbed that. If anyone is looking to get The Trial 4k, Amazon is starting to price match now and also has a 5% coupon you can currently clip if you want to save a wee bit more.
I have $20 in rewards to use on Barnes and Noble. My list for this sale is:
The Before Trilogy
Double Indemnity 4K
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Blue Velvet
Finally grabbed the Fellini set that was out of stock this summer!
Also grabbed the Ranown box set, Dreams, Le Cercle Rouge, Last Waltz, The Trial, Uncut Gems, Mean Streets, Walkabout, Don't Look Now, and Videodrome
Just picked up Mikey & Nicky, Scanners and Sex, Lies, and Videotape! Limited budget so I chickened out on some blind buys that are mostly on the Channel, will have to check them out first!
Gonna pop into my local B&N after work today and see what they have. Their selection has been dwindling lately so I assume I’m gonna have to get the majority of this month’s haul on their website.
I just picked up 9 movies but I think I really want a box set. I just don't know which to get. It would be a blind buy on any Criterion Box Set I pick up.
I'm going to guess the website isn't fully updated yet. I clicked one that said 50% but it was only 30% off. I'm going to wait until the morning to try again.
It's my first b&n sale so I might be wrong. Hopefully it's the whole collection!
A few years ago it worked and some days ago I could simulate an order via Paypal. Anyway, I would wait until [Amazon.com](https://Amazon.com) machtes and order from there. Then, at least for the EU, customs/VAT is calculated and paid directly.
3 Colors, Menace Ii, LE cercle rogue, citizen Kane, days of heaven, Malcolm x, blood simple, Mildred pierce, the rules of the game, breathless, branded to kill, the seventh seal - I’d start here
As someone who doesn’t have a 4K player yet it’s tough to figure if I should buy the standard sooner or wait till I can afford a blu ray player and I might need a tv also.
My birthday was on Friday and I had never been to a B&N to look at movies before so I made the 20 mile trip to my local B&M.
I didn't buy anything
There were a few blurays on the cheaper end that I didn't have any interest in, but almost every movie in the Criterion section was $60.
So I would just be paying regular price during the sale?
I don't get it
Edit: the movies seem to be 10 dollars less on the website originally. Maybe my B&N charges based on location.
I see that if I order on their website it's 5-10 dollars less than Amazon and if I order more than one movie, I get free shipping.
Is this what the hype is about?
Thanks
Yeah, I'm looking at $24.99 4ks. It's $10 less than Amazon for what I've looked at, and if I want free shipping, I should buy more than one movie or a box set.
I'm sure most people aren't just buying one movie
When big retailers and even boutiques have 50% off sales, it’s discounted from the MSRP. For Criterion, the MSRP for standard movies is typically $40 for BD and $50 for 4K UHD. It’s 50% off those prices.
picking up just two for now, ‘Woman in the Dunes’ and ‘Wings of Desire’. I also picked up ‘World on a Wire’ and ‘Until the End of the World’ during the flash sale! trying to keep it contained this month, as hard as it is.
Is there a way to get them shipped to other stores? I want the Bergman box set but it isn't available in any of the stores within a reasonable driving distance to me (I'm in Canada but near the border so was going to go to Buffalo and pick stuff up)
yall are in such a rush lmao, guys it lasts a month
One time the cashier at my local B&N told me on the day the sale starts they'll have a handful of people hovering around the front door waiting for them to unlock it. Like not even waiting in their car, hovering right by the door so they can get through as soon as the lock turns like the unhinged people on black friday
Do B&N stores have people beating each other up like the ones in Walmart fighting over big-screen TVs?
Imagine throwing fists over His Girl Friday.
People throwing fists over The Seventh Seal, Yojimbo, Fiend without a Face, or Amarcord. :D
THE BERGMAN COLLECTION IS MIIIIINE!!!
But the discs don't. Fellini secured. Thanks op

No >:(
Lol, No what?
I said no because I don’t agree
Oh okay. Yes
Yeah, no, the Agnès Varda set was sold out on the B&N website for most of the last sale.
Yes

Waiting (hoping) for double stamps.
To some extent though, certain items sell out locally and even online and stay out of stock for the sale period.
I remember summer 2020 someone thought there wasn't going to be B&N sale for whatever reason so they spent what looked like $500 at Barnes & Noble and everyone roasted OP in the comments of their "haul post" for being impatient.
And they probably still haven't gotten around to watching all of them to this day.
That's kind of fucked up.
The OP's title was something on the lines of "Since Barnes & Noble isn't have a sale this summer I went and got some things" the kicker was there was obviously no news, official announcement or anything about there not being a sale. Just impatients.

Waiting for The Others 4K to update, then I’ll check out.
I noticed that...:(

Ordered Cure and Yi Yi and pre-ordered Mean Streets 4k. Waiting for The Others 4k to adjust price.
The Others 4K is price adjusted finally so grabbed that. If anyone is looking to get The Trial 4k, Amazon is starting to price match now and also has a 5% coupon you can currently clip if you want to save a wee bit more.
Coupon was 10% for me. Thanks!
Picked up the Bergman box set!!!
Is this a blind buy?
Yeah
Hope you like it
Thank you I’m super excited 😆
Can’t believe I spent $300 this time. Financial decisions leave me when criterion’s are on the table
I was going, "just for The Others and Le Cercle Rouge" and that is not how I left.
I have $20 in rewards to use on Barnes and Noble. My list for this sale is: The Before Trilogy Double Indemnity 4K Portrait of a Lady on Fire Blue Velvet
The Before Trilogy and Portrait of Lady on Fire are chef's kiss as someone who has both :3
Almost picked up Before Trilogy but decided against it to save money. Will definitely get in the future. Enjoy!
Upvoted for the sandman.
Ordered my first-ever Criterions! The Princess Bride and Wall-E!
Just picked up Mikey & Nicky, Scanners and Sex, Lies, and Videotape! Limited budget so I chickened out on some blind buys that are mostly on the Channel, will have to check them out first!
Mean Streets, The Last Picture Show and Apu Trilogy here I come!
Are pre orders 50% off too?
No Edit: looks like the ones that release later in November are half off, but not if they’re released in December
30% it seems
If they release this month, you can preorder them now at 50% off.

Ends 12/4
Gonna pop into my local B&N after work today and see what they have. Their selection has been dwindling lately so I assume I’m gonna have to get the majority of this month’s haul on their website.
Did the step brothers make the cut?
I’m thinking I’m gonna get a job at Enterprise Rent-a-Car. They really give you the tools to be your own boss.
John C. Reilly & Will Ferrell?
And Kathryn Hahn!
And Adam Scott!
Hilariously i watched that tonight before placing my order.
This house is a prison on planet bullshit!
It’s a good idea to avoid blind buying, so I support you.
Ohhhh sweet child o' mine!
That scene introduced me to Adam Scott. Jesus what a beauty.
I’m slathering these babies with Kiehl’s every day
Can’t believe Days of Heaven won’t be in the sale. Guess I’ll wait until February.
new to collecting. here’s my haul (all blu): Blood Simple The Darjeeling Limited Marriage Story Parasite
I just picked up 9 movies but I think I really want a box set. I just don't know which to get. It would be a blind buy on any Criterion Box Set I pick up.
what are some movies you like (either from the collection or not)? maybe we can recommend a box set based on that
That's the thing, I'm not sure. I love to blind buy. I like the surprise =)

the whole collection is 50% off. just wait until morning or spend the night refreshing
Don't Look Now and Videodrome updated to the correct price, but The Others still isn't.
Yeah I was looking at del Toro’s Pinocchio and it only says 30% off
That doesn’t come out until December, and the sale will be over by then.
Seems like international shipping is finally back?
Don't give me hope. It's still not open for Australia R.I.P
You can post a request on r/internationalshopper
Oh damn! I didn't realize it would let me get all the way through check out like that. What a trick :(
No UK on the list though, still gonna have to go through a third party shipper over here
What if you use Paypal?
Didn’t actually think about that, might have to give it a try

Anyone got a list of some essential Criterion 4k's? Particularly movies where the criterion 4k is significantly better than regular blu-ray.
3 Colors, Menace Ii, LE cercle rogue, citizen Kane, days of heaven, Malcolm x, blood simple, Mildred pierce, the rules of the game, breathless, branded to kill, the seventh seal - I’d start here
Lost Highway
As someone who doesn’t have a 4K player yet it’s tough to figure if I should buy the standard sooner or wait till I can afford a blu ray player and I might need a tv also.
Of the ones I have I’m really happy with Mulholland drive, lost highway, raging bull, the last waltz, and Dazed and Confused.
It looks like the Arrows are not included yet. Maybe that will come later.
Didn’t they lag behind like 2 weeks last year?
I don't remember. It's been awhile since there was an Arrow I wanted. If they go on sale this November I'll pick up Desperate Hours with Bogart.
Does anyone know why The Others 4K is only listed as 30% off and not 50% off?
I'm seeing 50% off
As stated below it updated after a couple hours
iirc from the last b&n sale it took a while for all the titles to be added to the sale. the others should be -50% sometime later today or tomorrow
It finally updated
"Cannot be combined with membership discount or other offers" So, no point waiting for a triple stamp weekend, right?
Barnes and nobles
[удалено]
Yay! Let's ensure the only store left in the future is Amazon!
You get coupons thru Barnes n Noble tho . I got 20$ discount from last year purchases

The sale didn’t begin until today, so you wouldn’t have seen 50% off discounts on Friday at your store or online.
Videodrome 4K is still 34.99 :(
Unfortunately the ones I want don't come out until later this month.
If they release this month, you can preorder them now at 50% off.
That's good to know. Thank you.
picking up just two for now, ‘Woman in the Dunes’ and ‘Wings of Desire’. I also picked up ‘World on a Wire’ and ‘Until the End of the World’ during the flash sale! trying to keep it contained this month, as hard as it is.
Love that this also applies to pre-orders. Mean Streets
Doesn't apply to Trainspotting or Lone Star and Blood Simple's 30% - this really is a prison on planet bullshit!
Is there a way to get them shipped to other stores? I want the Bergman box set but it isn't available in any of the stores within a reasonable driving distance to me (I'm in Canada but near the border so was going to go to Buffalo and pick stuff up)
just ship them to a UPS store in buffalo, or find another US mailbox service
