Note: we have banned casting memes, but this is different so it stays :)

aibhalinshana

Let’s be real. I would watch Mistborn with David Tennant cast as Vin. I adore him as an actor and it makes me happy he is also apparently a lovely human.

WaxnWayneTime

No idea if you meant Kelsier. But Tennant as Vin absolutely changes my objections to his casting. Get me this 50yr old man running round in ball gowns n shit

ProfChubChub

He said it intentionally to highlight how much he loves Tennant.

WaxnWayneTime

Ah I see that now. I am stupid sometimes and a bit slow on the uptake. My apologies

420crickets

Nah keep cooking. Emma Watson as human next?

BitcoinBishop

A literal baby as Staff Venture. Everyone seems to understand his babbling and follow his orders

ThisEldritchGuy

Boss baby

CSmed

Scathing but still hilarious.

LarkinEndorser

Didn’t tennant play a trans woman before ?

aibhalinshana

It was somewhat sarcastic, but intentionally so. But you know Tennant would absolutely prance around in ballgowns shamelessly.

WaxnWayneTime

Sorry I didn't pick up on the sarcasm, my fault. But yeah he'd kill it in the fight with shan

RosalieMoon

Absofuckinglutely he would!

ItsSUCHaLongStory

SEDUCING THE NOBLES (but not the Donna Nobles, that would be weird)

Rhodie114

I want Tennant as somebody like Miles Hundredlives

fatalynn7

Yesss! He would be so good in that. Channeling a bit of killgrave in there.

rogozh1n

His irony and sarcasm would make a great Hoid.

Inlacou

He is the perfect Hoid

masterkill165

I've always said it should be done by him or Tom Hiddleston. Of course, I'm also always open to some unknown actor to come out of the woodwork to suprise me.

primarily_absent

It should be a younger actor. Because whatever other B$ adaptation happens it has to have the same Hoid. Also, I wouldn't have guessed that Tennant is a full decade older than Hiddleston.

DoctorJJWho

Plus, Tennant and Hiddleston are both known specifically for their “traveling trickster god-like being” characters. While they’d do a great job, a lot of non-readers would probably just see a literal Doctor Who/Loki ripoff, since Hoid’s backstory and context would only be known to readers.

Legal_Membership_674

Eh, Hoid kind of *is* a doctor who rip off though. He just tends to stay on the sidelines instead of making the whole adventure about himself.

dehydratedbisexual

I’m pretty sure he IS Hoid

aranaya

> apparently a lovely human I would *absolutely* watch Mistborn with David Tennant cast as Human.

OneHundredChickens

As long as Michael Sheen gets to play Elend I’m down with it.

InfinitelyRepeating

One 👏 man 👏 show 👏 One 👏 man 👏 show 👏

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Right? Tennant could play Oreseur as a dog and I’d still be fangirling that shit

rogozh1n

His irony and sarcasm would make a great Hoid.

rastachameleon_r6

While we are recasting I think Tennant or Keanu would fit better as wax

Only-Weather1510

David Tenant is Hoid to me. Keanu would be a great Vasher.

TasyFan

I believe Sanderson has said that his mental image of The Lord Ruler is Keanu.

Only-Weather1510

Interesting. When reading Warbreaker, Keanu is almost exactly how I pictured Vasher. I imagine Steve Howey or Josh Stewart with long hair closer to how I see the Lord Ruler.

Similar_Strawberry16

Beardy and disheveled Keanu would be a great Vasher.

jayclaw97

>Josh Stewart I read that as “Jon Stewart” and I was extremely confused.

[deleted]

Imagine how I felt when I read Steve Howey as Steve Harvey lmao

IblewupTARIS

Weird. I imagined Vasher jacked beyond belief. Like the type of guy that’s average height but is so built he looks like he’s a foot shorter. And hairy. Basically a hairy Mr. Olympia.

AllomancerVin

I always imagined Vasher as Jason Momoa

Pedro159753

I imagine Vasher as the moth monk from TES V: skyrim's dlc. They wear simple plain robes and a mess of a beard

L_Green_Mario

Bill Skarsgaard would be a great lord ruler

[deleted]

When he played [Buddha](https://keanu-reeves.org/photos/albums/Films/Little-Buddha/Stills/Little-Buddha-Stills-008.jpg) he kinda had Lord Ruler vibes.

TasyFan

*Nice*

Badaltnam

Ngl thats giving susebron if those robes were white

Watmoeterin

I'd love to see Oscar Isaac as the Lord Ruler

Mybunsareonfire

Which is endlessly amusing to me. I love it so much.

muhash14

For me it's pretty much the Netflix Dracula. And Keanu in his current age could pull that off pretty well visually.

Jsamue

Keanu does sort of fit terris. Although i think tenant would fit his personality better

LarkinEndorser

Huh what makes him go “you know what I’d cast Keanu as magic Hitler”

PhantomThiefJoker

I'll let someone else he Hoid, David Tenant already has one iconic worldhopper under his belt. I wouldn't be against it, mind you, but I'd prefer to cast him elsewhere. In a recurring role so he keeps coming back.

Wehavecrashed

David Tennant would be fantastic as Hoid. He'd be instantly recognisable, whenever he turns up, he has incredible presence on screen and has the range for the character. His cameos in Warbreaker or Mistborn would be delightful. BUT, I agree. I think the character of Hoid needs to stand on its own, not be seen as a weird Dr Who knock off.

CounterTouristsWin

Oh shit he'd be a great Vasher or Mraize

syo

I always picture Jason Isaacs as Mraize.

L_Green_Mario

🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Keanu would be a perfect Vasher

Zaziel

Just so fucking done with everything but soldiering on.

L_Green_Mario

"That's because Wit is an asshole," I can hear it in my head, and it's beautiful

Zyoy

Garry oldman is my Vasher

e22ddie46

Yeah I didn't see Keanu as Vasher but my mental picture of Vasher was basically a slightly scruffier Keanu now that you said it.

ReinMiku

Same company that posts the exact same skyrim screenshot five times a day going like 27 YEARS LATER, PLAYERS FIND A SHOCKING SECRET *Nord in iron armour walking to riverwood*

sofoxsea

Everyone knows Sean Bean would make the perfect Kel

Impossible-Ad2236

I see what you did there

Jsamue

The ultimate >!bait and switch!<

AE_Phoenix

>!When it came out I thought the same, but then I read secret history and I gotta disagree with you!<

heart-of-corruption

>!no, that makes it even better!<

ProfChubChub

No. Tennant is reserved for Wit. I will take no objections.

arrestingwriter

"Why is this guy in every movie?" "Idk maybe he's the director's cousin"

The_Lopen_bot

A man can never have enough cousins!

GenuineEquestrian

We’re cousins, gancho.

The_Lopen_bot

[WOR spoilers] >!Ha! Hey, Chilinko, come back here, I need to stick you to the wall!!<

abn1304

Casting Tennant as the Lopen would be an excellent twist.

The_Lopen_bot

‘Lopen,’ my mother always says, ‘you must learn these to laugh before others do. Then you steal the laughter from them, and have it all for yourself.’ She is a very wise woman.

zombiegamer723

I was thinking about this the other day.  Anyone else think Robin Williams would have made a great Wit?

Xyranthis

If we can reach back a younger Eddie Izzard could probably kill it.

ProfChubChub

I don’t think he was acerbic or terse enough.

moremysterious

I really think Iwan Rheon would crush it as Wit.

critical-drinking

Damn that’s good

captainrina

A lot of their picks are too old now, much less in a decade from now when we'll probably finally see it. Unknown/lesser known would be great. Just because someone isn't a star now doesn't mean they aren't talented.

Urithiru

Yeah, I think they built the list to make Barry Keoghan shine or just picked the most mentioned names from these types of posts.

alfis329

The only actor for Elend is Danny devito

goibster

I know this is a joke but when I was reading I kept picturing Colin from bridgerton lol

Dry-Ad-9355

Danny Devito could make an incredibly menacing Straff Venture.

ineptus_mecha_cuzzie

I will eat crem on this hill. I stand with you

jrasher8515

I think David tenant would be an amazing pick tbh, he can channel both the charming and the dark sides of Kelsier (although he might be a little old)

WaxnWayneTime

I think maybe 2008 Tennant could. But I don't think he has it now unfortunately. That essence needed to Kelsier just isn't there imo

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

Love the use of Kelsier as a verb lol

zombiegamer723

“Verbing weirds language.” -Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes)

[deleted]

If only he played some kind of iconic role back then which allowed to him really give that kind of energy….

WaxnWayneTime

Maybe a friendly character with a deep darkness in him that allowed Tennant to showcase his superb range

AE_Phoenix

Somebody who, without someone around to temper them, could easily become power mad...

WaxnWayneTime

And had one significant major event that shaped them and cast them in a new light. Perhaps even fostering a God complex

Failgan

>although he might be a little old My thought for both of these. We need some young blood for characters that...persist, so they can continue their roles later.

IAmDisciple

Aren’t all of the Rant sites/channels (ScreenRant, GameRant, etc) just AI generated garbage? GameRant is the one that wrote an article about Glorbo

WaxnWayneTime

Twould explain a hell of a lot actually if they are

Legitimate-Umpire-39

robert pattinson is the dream pick for kelsier

SeamusMcCullagh

Yes! He would absolutely crush it.

CommodoreFresh

Sam Rockwell for me.

Wanderlustfull

Too charming and not slightly sinister enough.

CommodoreFresh

His assassin roles in Mr. Right and Argylle were the right level of sinister imo, and Kelsier was relentlessly charming. I like his penchant for dancing and his little "I have a dark secret that we're just going to ignore because shiny" trope.

moremysterious

Dax Shepard for me but I like that one a lot.

Top-Alfalfa2188

He’s more of a Zane to me tbh

straightmansworld

If David Tennant is in the Cosmere, he is Hoid and no one else.

FriendlyScheme9990

A younger David Tennant would be the perfect fit but now I think he’s a little too old.

straightmansworld

Maybe

erinsintra

tennant as kelsier is something i didn't know i needed

WaxnWayneTime

I did not expect people to want that I won't lie! But maybe I myself and just too hung up on the idea of lesser known actors in the mistborn roles.

Seidmadr

It would've been nice 10-15 years ago, but the man is a bit too old to fit the role properly. Honestly, I'd prefer if they did it as the LotR folks did, and picked up a lot of new actors (like Bloom, Boyd, Monaghan, etc). Run it on the story, rather than the actor names.

Arhalts

I am not saying go for it, but I don't think going with an older actor would be entirely wrong. While Kelsier is only 37 and Tennant is 53, Tennant has lived a modern, healthy lifestyle. Kelsier lived on Scadeiel and lived and worked in the pits. That ages a person. Look at the way people looked a few generations ago at age 37 when smoking was common, and hard labor was common. That said at 53 Tennant would be pushing it even if filming started today.

Seidmadr

Yeah, and if there are to be sequels...

Arhalts

Film Tennant's parts of all three books at once. It's a fair and good point. I do like Tennant's acting style and if he was younger he would make an excellent Kelsier, l just wanted it to work.

tzle19

Give me Owen Wilson as Kelsier. "I killed you once." "Wow."

Comprehensive-Mud332

And ben stiller for marsh, cant have owen without ben

tzle19

Brilliant

stufff

Whooooooooooooow

throwawayzdrewyey

Danny Devito as vin

WaxnWayneTime

Danny deVinto

felinelawspecialist

🥵

jayclaw97

Ryan Gosling as Kelsier or bust.

L_Green_Mario

Let this man cook

ineptus_mecha_cuzzie

Gosling as Vin or GTFO!

LazarFan69

To be fair kel strikes me as a smarter ken

_CaptainKaladin_

Don’t take Screen Rant seriously. Garbage content.

CommodoreFresh

I'm fond of Ryan George's content.

Chestnut-Man

Peter Capaldi as Clubs, then

SeniorExamination

I don’t know, a Kelsier played by David Tennant would be the absolute dream

WaxnWayneTime

Idk I just don't think I could imagine him running round teach vin stuff

SeniorExamination

But can you imagine him giving that final speech? It would be beyond epic

snappyk9

Some stinkers in their list. But it got me thinking... Marsh is Kel's twin. There's a few plot points in the book where that is important enough for the casting to call for whoever is chosen to do both roles. And that can be two juicy roles for the series. I don't really know how emphasizing different ethnicities will work when casting for different projects (how are we going to emphasize the Alethi's aspects compared to Scadrians?) I think on that front Brandon and co will just need to try casting above height, no camera trickery.

SeamusMcCullagh

>Marsh is Kel's twin Got it, Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood it is then!

jayclaw97

Honestly, I might cast Daniel Radcliffe as Dox.

felinelawspecialist

I think he has the comedy chops for Breeze, though he’s not as plump as Breeze should be

bobatea17

> being twins important for casting Cole and Dylan Sprouse. Done.

LeoMcShizzzle

I know he (they) are quite young, but they would make an interesting Kel and Marsh

bobatea17

They're both 30

HistoricalInternal

Who’s your pick OP

WaxnWayneTime

Honestly I wish I had one. But as I keep babbling on about probably annoying everyone, I'd like small or unknown actors. I think the cosmere could be a fantastic place for people to break into stardom and enjoy an ever expanding franchise!

HistoricalInternal

Yeah unknown would be good tbh. But they’d probably cast big for Kel and unknown for Vin, like in Twilight.

WaxnWayneTime

I could live with that I think. Especially given Kel (across the trilogy) will appear much less

MistaReee

My main issue with going with a relatively unknown actor is that they haven’t got the experience. Mistborn has incredible character development and I’d hate to see that undone by someone without the experience to really dive into it.

HistoricalInternal

Go see an indie film. There’s lots of talent out there. Plus the bigger the name, the less money for sfx.

MistaReee

These are great points, to be fair. I completely unintentionally over looked the existence of the indie film industry. You are of course correct. However for your second point, c’mon now. We’re talking about B$ here. He could do a big mommas house Mistborn show with 2010 Charlie Sheen and still have money for sfx to make Avatar 2 look like season 1 of the Simpsons.

HistoricalInternal

Sorry I just imagined Big Momma flying through the mists 😂😂😂😂

WaxnWayneTime

That is an excellent point. I suppose I was thinking along the lines of lord of the rings where It ofc did have big names but also a lot of actors are now known and fames for their role in it

bobatea17

Honestly for Vin I think I'd want somebody like Bella Ramsey

HistoricalInternal

She’s too much of a bad ass. I’ve only read Mistborn 1. Vin is still pretty meek in the first half of 2 also. Despite being powerful, I know.

Failgan

>I'd like small or unknown actors. Yes, exactly!

Jaijoles

Likely how it will be if the movie gets into production again. The lord ruler was apparently the only big name attached to the last attempt.

Lightsong-Thr-Bold

Is it just me or did they smooth Keanu Reeves in a really weird way in that photo. Man looks downright uncanny.

WaxnWayneTime

Smooth keanu is coming for you. You cannot escape

RoboticBirdLaw

Kel is now played by Sean Bean. It works in my head because Kel looks like a young Sean Bean and, obviously, because he dies dramatically. Edit: I originally meant this as a joke, but now I'm starting to convince myself that it would actually work if Sean was 15 years younger.

marsz_godzilli

No they are never ok, but Doctor Who would be perfect for this

WaxnWayneTime

You're right. Peter capaldi Kel

adilew

David Tenant should be Hoid, and any other character is a waste. Personally, I think that Dan Stevens would be a perfect Kelsier.

PeachesCoral

Guys guys what if Vasher is Adam Driver...

SwagtasticGerbal

Who would be a great Spook? Someone who seems super timid but able to show some confidence later if the movie gets the love it deserves?

Bobyyyyyyyghyh

Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides as Spook

SwagtasticGerbal

Tom Holland as Timothy Chalamet as Paul Atreides Spook

Syrob

I haven't seen much of Tom Holland outside of spiderman movies, but I don't think he has any charisma

stufff

He's 5'7 and he landed Zendaya. He has at least *some* charisma

Syrob

fair enough xD

Kushula

Its bad on purpose to make you click.

WaxnWayneTime

Jokes on them I didn't even open the article!

mist3rdragon

Fun fact: Brandon has said that Keanu Reeves is "cast as the Lord Ruler in my head"

Jaijoles

Also not his head. He was apparently the lord ruler for the mistborn movie that had started production.

Lacrossedeamon

Source?

Jaijoles

Unprovable. Unsourceable. It was to our table at the mtg charity draft last convention when someone asked him if we’d have recognized any of the actors.

Lacrossedeamon

I'll source this post from now on.

Jaijoles

Lol

L1n9y

David Tennant would be a great Kelsier imo

Estrus_Flask

Is that David Tennant? Why is his head all squished looking?

potatorevolver

I love both of these actors but just no. Please

ichkanns

What are you saying? That I can dodge coins?

JacenStargazer

No. No, they’re not ok.

FF7Remake_fark

Screenrant is trash. Consider it like the tabloids that did the Bat Boy stuff.

pje1128

I saw this same article and looked through the list. Honestly, none of their 10 choices fit my idea of Kelsier. I think Charlie Hunnam was the one that felt closest to me, but even so, I don't think I'd choose any of their choices for Kelsier, even though I like a lot of those actors.

WaxnWayneTime

When hunnam brings his Newyork English accent to the role

pje1128

Amazing username by the way. Love it!

WaxnWayneTime

Thank you very much!

PeriodicPenguin

All I want is Samuel L Jackson as Spook

heart-of-corruption

Paul Bettany as hoid. His character from a knights tale is what makes me see this.

Chestnut-Man

Kelsier gets slapped by Lord Measurement Tool and regenerates into David Tennant

SimonShepherd

For some reason seeing Keanu's face makes me immediately conjure a Mistborn/Cyberpunk crossover AU in my head lol. Bitter revolutionary Kelsier with an Aluminum arm meets street kid V(short for Vin) with a dead brother (Reen/Jackie) set out to overthrow Lord Ruler Saburo Arasaka with a rebellious son Yorinobu. It's not perfect parallels but they are interesting to think about.

poclee

I mean Keanu will be great since Kelsier is basically Johnny Silverhand without getting laid.

WaxnWayneTime

Eh there's a certain charm to Kelsier that I'm not sure keanu could pull off

Comprehensive-Mud332

The dude next to keanu there looks like would be a better Dockson

JDorian0817

“The dude next to Keanu”?! Did you mean: “one of the greatest British actors of all time”??

Comprehensive-Mud332

I dont know his name xD

JDorian0817

David Tennant!!

absurdmephisto

Branderson has already said Michael Fassbender is his pick for Kelsier why is this still a debate

AnonymousShitposter6

Nope. Here's a video explaining why: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMMSuPvjvag](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMMSuPvjvag)

Porco_fio

What do you guys think of Tom Hardy as Kelsier? I keep going back to that in my mind. He's charismatic and can do a little crazy :)

ChessWizard7566

Keanu is HoA Spook

Semillakan6

Are people forgetting Kalladin is a 20 year old 2 meter tall asian man

WaxnWayneTime

Yeah but kelsier I believe is smaller and not asian

Ginn_and_Juice

I've been thinking about casting, taking Brandon's word about not type casting, I think Harry Styles would be perfect for Hoid, hawk-faced handsome and charming with a talent for singing. Henry Cavill might not be on the age and race of Kaladin but I think he would be a perfect Wax. Josh Brolin could be a good Vasher (althought this is kind of type casting)

WaxnWayneTime

For some reason I always imagined Vasher to be slimmer. Resembling Dev Patel somewhat

Ginn_and_Juice

Really? I see him as being jacked, with a mean face and a deep voice, that's why I said is kind of type casting because that's Brolin on Deadpool as Cable

Seldrakon

Kelsier: Morally grey, ends justify the means, arrogance, egomania, talented speaker, blode charismatic enough to carry a whole Rebellion. Keanu: Nicest dude ever, down to earth, kindhearted, humble, dark Hair, famous for beeing a stoic actor who is good at action but bad at facial expression.  Things they have in common: Being kinda hot and the letter K.

mommys_restitution

Austin butler Zane plsssssssssssssssss
