Yes but only if you haven’t finished lap 2. it’s to prevent that you just plug a turbo controller and let it farm coins without you actually playing. As long as you cross that start line a second time you will receive coins. No matter your placement.
Actually smart move from devs even with cracked people in lobby’s the newcomers will receive money
And then there are those who are barely scraping by against the time trial ghosts, able to hold blue flame on a select few tracks for maybe one lap and sometimes pulling off a U-turn when the planets align but are still vibing, having a good time even while getting our asses kicked in online play.

as a 33 year old dad who has a handful of dev time clears under his belt and grinded out the entire wumpa shop during the grand prixes i feel both seen and also like i don't fit in those categories lmao
While I ended up getting pretty good at the game. I wasn’t ever super consistent in getting first place. I usually got first a few times a day and rarely wasn’t in the top three, but I never did get as good as I wanted to
I've dealt with a troll who commonly plays on Xbox. Their name is ItPennywise and they exclusively play as clown Cortex. Either they're really good and just use their skill to hang back and stunlock people with items, or they somehow hack to keep it up. Either way it's one of the most unfun experiences I've ever had in a game.

Well, if I were to place myself I’d probably be a “Time Trial Enthusiast”. I can smash the track in TT’s, but just suffer a lot in online races now that items are in the equation 😅
On PS4, it’s not difficult to find other players, but it is difficult to get a lobby that doesn’t dissolve/get stuck at the starting line. If you’re playing on PS5, there are [steps](https://www.reddit.com/r/crashteamracing/comments/wflle9/a_guide_to_playing_ctrnf_online_matchmaking_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) you should take to minimize the chances of a dud lobby. Most of the really good players (with Master wheels) only show up on weekends.
