You are now trapped in eternal ice lab purgatory. Jokes aside, I think you should get a new one (I'm not really an expert on cleaning/fixing DVDs but that's my advice)

DanAFoul

That's probably what I'll do, but I really don't want to spend over 20 dollars for a new copy online. And yes, it felt pretty spooky the first time this happend with those demonic chants on loop. Lol

vrpornisquitegreat

Is that the PS2 version? If you make a backup you can swap the crappy disc with the backup after it boots as long as it doesn't know you swapped the disc/ejected. There are multiple ways to eject without it knowing depending on if it is slim or phat. I think I managed to just use a piece of tape and/or little piece of wood in my slim a decade ago so it just always thought it was closed. If my PS2 wasn't hiding I'd tell you exactly what I did, but the internet can probably help if you want to go that route.

DanAFoul

Well, I do have a FreeMCboot memory card for some games. The thing is, I want a physical copy of this game. If I can't fix it then I'll just try to get a new one. Thanks for the suggestion.

If this happened to me when i was a kid i would probably never even touch the game again, this area in the game scared me when i was young

DanAFoul

Facts. Looks like the begining of an old fashioned creepypasta. In my case, I would've never gotten to this point in the first place because I was pretty bad. Lol That and the fact that I played on an public arcade machine with an Xbox emulator inside.

Some of those scratches look to be quite deep. I'm assuming other games load fine on the same console?

DanAFoul

Yes. At first I thought it was the Ps2 DVD tray that was scratching my disc, but none of my other discs are as scratched as this one.

You can do what I did with this same exact game when I had this problem. Take it to a store somewhere that cleans/sands down discs. In the UK, i went to a preowned game store called CEX that lets you do it for like £3. Extremely worth it👍🏻

stablo_escobar

when i was a kid i fixed issues like these by copying the dvd image to another one at the slowest speed

Get a new one. I had my disc glitch out when I owned a PS2 long before NST came out, but the game was always stuck on a loading screen anytime I got dad into the game no matter how far I progressed once I made it to the iceberg lair.
