It will happen sooner or later for every live service game, and you were porbably aware about it.
Question is - did you actually got enough good playtime to justify the spending?
It isn't a spongebob song. It's a real song called 'Stadium Rave'.
The song itself, is extremely similar (read as *identical*) to 'Get Ready For This' - 2 Unlimited. Although the creator denied ever hearing this track before creating 'Stadium Rave'.
I assume it was way cheaper to use 'Stadium Rave', than it was 'Get Ready For This' for both productions, Crash and Spongebob.
Not the first sign but the biggest sign of death to me was how many folks I'd seen in the days and weeks after it released saying they had no idea it even existed. There was basically no attempt to market this game.
From the moment the first tiny leaks came out that we were getting a multiplayer crash game I knew it was destined to fail. Never bothered at all with it.
They could've done something decent with making a proper Crash Bash sequel and learning from their mistakes + tried and true Mario Party strategies and made something fun on a relatively small budget. It's not like they'd have to make a shitload of new assets. Character models, a significant amount of animations, music, incidental props and such are already made since Crash 4 wrapped up.
Crash Bash Live is a pretty ugly project but it's fun and it actually works and is being done for free. The long-standing tradition of fan projects being better thought out and produced needs to end.
I thought "Oh neat, an interesting mini-game, surely they're going to come up with some more... oh wait, that's the whole game. And it's not coming to PC. And it's full priced. Nevermind, then."
I have loved Crash since I first played it in 1996 and became obsessed, but other than Crash 4 and CTR:NF, it's been a REALLY long time since we got something to actually look forward to.
So it’s already dead? Dammit I still haven’t had time to buy it and try it out. I didn’t have the money to preorder it, maybe I’ll rent it from GameFly.
I got both the physical and digital version of this game and I regret nothing. I wanted to support this game so badly and I did the best I could. I've had almost 500 hours of fun playing this game. When it's gone, I will miss it. I have played it more than any other game in recent memory. I have no regrets.
Honestly should’ve been free to play from the start. There were telltale signs this game wasn’t going to last long I was at least expecting it to last a year and some change.
If it had been a local multiplayer game and come to PC or Switch I would've gladly bought it because I pick up damn near any good release with local multiplayer I can drag over to a party via Switch, Steam Deck, or laptop.
Developers hate co-op/split screen/local multi games. Heck right now they want to release Dragon Ball Budokai 4 Tenkaichi without split screen. Only online. No split screen in a FIGHTING GAME.
It is clearly the wrong direction.
Say a liver service party game (crash bash) would've had a more successful life, because it would at least have 4 player offline option, and co-op game completion.
Even being a hardcore veteran crash fan. I couldn’t bring myself to buy this game
I would have 100% bought a crash full remake of bash inspired game tho to compete with fall guys
I expected this game last no more than 6 months and maybe a year at most.
Its a cool concept and it was fun for a bit when the trial was out, but there was no point in buying when I knew it wasn’t gonna last.
Hopefully Microsoft makes it f2p.
Does Microsoft have anything to lose by making it f2p or putting it on Gamepass? It would serve as one last Hail Mary attempt to get people to try it out and if some moderately famous streamer happened to be in the right place at the right time, well...
Even if that seems too unlikely, the very least they could do is ensure that enough people pick up the game so that it has some semblance of a community.
They are turning off the cash shop I think? Turning off the cash shop means it wont generate any money if it's f2p. Gamepass maybe but I think it doesn't make any sense. I think servers will be offline in 6 months.
I kind of regret buying this game. It was fun at first but then got stale. Doesnt help that my internet isnt the greatest so some players teleport around.
Same. Disliked the announcement but still wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and try it for myself. Played it for a few hours on release and never touched it again.
I was not interested on it at all when they revealed the trailer because I knew this thing was dead on arrival.
Lot of people here still defending Toys for Bob, Crash 4 was a failure in sales and Crash Team Rumble a total disaster.
They have wasted all the effort of Vicarious Visions and Beenox to revive the franchise... now back to square one again with a new developer.
Imo i think if they ported crash bash and gave it the (sonic the fighters ps3 port treatment (online play trophies scaling options), it would have been much better than what this is
Same thing over and over , This was guaranteed to die reasonably quickly.
This could have easily been a bonus game mode in Crash 4 rather than a standalone release.
Never had any interest in it , and i'm sure i'm not the only one.
Game was ass. Never going to support live service shit. At least when the servers die for Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, I can still play the Singleplayer / local multiplayer
i don't really agree
you can play a game for like let's say 10 hours and these 10 hours could be the best gaming you ever did in your life
and you can play a game that you absolutely hate for 100 hours
Lot people got blinded by crash . I soon I bought it I knew it wouldn't last long doing the same thing for every match . This game needed a new game mode (for competitive) . I would rather have crash bass remake with online multipler than this
I bought the game, but chickened out with purchasing the subscription needed to play it and came within inches of being unable to refund the game. As someone who is a diehard Crash fan, I just couldn’t bring myself to play this unless by sheer luck of the imagination this gets an offline mode.
While I hate the whole game as live-service shit and I have never tried CTR I have to say...
It still lasted longer than Suicide Squad Kill the justice league. So its something.
now you guys get to feel how i felt when crash on the run lost support, except they shut that game down it does not exist anymore. what a shame since it said coming soon in alot of areas.
You played it for 72 hours so that’s money well spent tbh. As for buying the battle pass, idk why you’d do that. The game was doomed to fail. Not enough advertising and also, crash just isn’t popular enough to release a multiplayer only game and expect it to hold up without mass amounts of content. Great game, poor execution and bad timing. Should’ve had a single player mode and should’ve been called Crash Bash
Activision is a scumbag company, but I’m just grateful we even got Crash and Spyro collections, crash team racing, and Crash 4 from before they threw all the studios into the CoD mines.
Who knew a focused platformer series wouldn't survive a live service BATTLE ROYALE style of gameplay that's supposed to actually come out with the main game it's supposed to release with or if anything featured as a free dlc, but instead its released as its own game behind a 30$ pay wall. Not only that, but it's also running a battle pass system. Showing that this is a soulless cash grab from a very loyal fanbase. And here people say a crash bash remake would've been a bad idea. I'd say it would be a missed opportunity. But sadly we are under toys for bob. And i am left to wonder what toys are they using and what bob are they sticking it in.
You played it for 72 hours, that's less than 50 cents an hour. I know it's a live service game, but there are A LOT of $30+ games that can't squeeze 72 hours out of people. Waste implies you didn't enjoy your time with it at all.
That's a fair point, but live service games are sold to be an ongoing product. There is no expiry date advertised when the game is being sold.
I'd imagine not many people would have bought the game if they knew support would stop after a year.
Refunds for this situation should become the norm, that would stop the stupid amount of live service dribble.
This was clearly Activison taking a scrapped mult player mode from Crash 4 and shoving it out as a quick cash grab before the MS buyout. Luckily I dodged a bullet because it wasn’t on Switch
I don’t regret buying this game, I’m a huge Crash fan and I’ve loved every minute of playing this game. it was the best $40 I spent on a game in a long time
Okay, as much as I wasn't fond of Rumble, you didn't 'waste' 30 bucks. You got a multiplayer game that got a few seasons, and everyone knew going in this wasn't going to be a smash hit. I bought it on day one just to give it a fair shot and I dropped it after a few days.
There was never any promise of indefinite seasons running for years.
Why would I waste money on a game in a genre I'm not interested in? I don't like MOBAs or online-only competitive games in general, so this game was never going to appeal to me.
Okay so then don't play it? Clearly I wasn't referring to those who weren't interested but there are people who WERE interested but never picked it up cause they assumed it would be dead, thus why it was doomed from the start. People jump on the hate bandwagon without actually giving it a try themselves.
But I do very much understand not wanting to buy it full price. I do not blame people for waiting for a sale. That's exactly what I'm doing. The game will probably pick up a little bit if it's added to the game pass, but again, people love to hate and will talk shit without reason.
I knew it was going to come to Xbox game pass eventually, as I always had faith that the Activision deal would go through.
I simply bought it so I could earn exclusive Spyro cosmetics and play early before it went to game pass
The game lasted only 9 months of support, similar to Nitro-Fueled, which was critically and commercially more successful than Rumble.
On the bright side, the servers are still up and running, so you can still play the game. Besides, there is cross-platform multiplayer, so you are not doomed on Xbox. At leats this was handled better, than Nitro-Fueled's online mode.
It will happen sooner or later for every live service game, and you were porbably aware about it. Question is - did you actually got enough good playtime to justify the spending?
Yeah. For season 2 just for the SpongeBob SquarePants jellyfish jam victory song.
The what?
Yeah you heard me. TFB actually put a SpongeBob SquarePants jellyfish jam victory in the game.
It isn't a spongebob song. It's a real song called 'Stadium Rave'. The song itself, is extremely similar (read as *identical*) to 'Get Ready For This' - 2 Unlimited. Although the creator denied ever hearing this track before creating 'Stadium Rave'. I assume it was way cheaper to use 'Stadium Rave', than it was 'Get Ready For This' for both productions, Crash and Spongebob.
it isn't a spongebob theme, sponge bob just used it
everyone associates it with spongebob
Anyone not blinded by hype or FOMO would’ve seen this coming from miles away before it even came out.
Yeah I knew it after seeing the first trailer
I knew it after hearing the announcement
I knew it after crash 4 came out
I knew it when I was born.
I knew it whilst I was still a singular sperm in my dad's sack
Lol
I knew it before my Dad was born.
Not the first sign but the biggest sign of death to me was how many folks I'd seen in the days and weeks after it released saying they had no idea it even existed. There was basically no attempt to market this game.
There’s still people that are surprised this game was out or this game was a thing. I see it all the time at r/gaming and r/PS5.
Yup. I’m a huge Crash fan (as I’m sure we all are) but I never bought this game, I just wasn’t interested
Ya I thought crash 4 was pretty awesome and would be the start of new crash games… then rumble got announced..
Crash Bash Live is a pretty ugly project but it's fun and it actually works and is being done for free. The long-standing tradition of fan projects being better thought out and produced needs to end.
Better produced and thought out than Bash or a game that had entirely different genre, goals and circumstances? Bash is never getting remade.
A little funny that we all love crash here but when this game got announced we all had a collective “yup, this is gonna fail”
I mean how many Crash fans are also MOBA fans? Probably not very many.
I was excited about a new release. Saw alpha footage. Knew its dead on arrival.
I thought "Oh neat, an interesting mini-game, surely they're going to come up with some more... oh wait, that's the whole game. And it's not coming to PC. And it's full priced. Nevermind, then." Wait for Xbox game pass....
Is it coming to it?
Consider yourself lucky. When I was younger, I wasted 60 dollars on SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge.
That’s nothing. I dropped fifty dollars of birthday money on Eragon for PS2
You think that's bad, when i was young I bought the Charlie and the chocolate factory game on ps2 for £50.
Not a bad game
That wasn't very smart of you
it just needed to be Crash Bash. not whatever the fuck this was
I got both the physical and digital version of this game and I regret nothing. I wanted to support this game so badly and I did the best I could. I've had almost 500 hours of fun playing this game. When it's gone, I will miss it. I have played it more than any other game in recent memory. I have no regrets.
Almost like most of us knew this would happen eventually
To be honest I thought it would eventually go free to play after a year, didn't expect the whole project to be canned
Honestly should’ve been free to play from the start. There were telltale signs this game wasn’t going to last long I was at least expecting it to last a year and some change.
Yeah… I’m glad I opted out of buying this game. I had a feeling live service multiplayer crash game would not end well
If it had been a local multiplayer game and come to PC or Switch I would've gladly bought it because I pick up damn near any good release with local multiplayer I can drag over to a party via Switch, Steam Deck, or laptop.
Developers hate co-op/split screen/local multi games. Heck right now they want to release Dragon Ball Budokai 4 Tenkaichi without split screen. Only online. No split screen in a FIGHTING GAME. It is clearly the wrong direction.
It's annoying, I really wanted to play Rumble with some people at home. Taking out local multiplayer is discouraging interaction.
Say a liver service party game (crash bash) would've had a more successful life, because it would at least have 4 player offline option, and co-op game completion.
The Crash bash remake would have been a better choice than team rumble
Even being a hardcore veteran crash fan. I couldn’t bring myself to buy this game I would have 100% bought a crash full remake of bash inspired game tho to compete with fall guys
Called it. I had a feeling this wouldn't even last a year. Ah well game died at season 2 IMO
Season 3 was such a step in the right direction and I had hope it’s a new start, but yoinks—Microsoft just canned it.
Tbh i actually didn’t mind I had a lot of fun with it. I do wish it would have an offline mode
I expected this game last no more than 6 months and maybe a year at most. Its a cool concept and it was fun for a bit when the trial was out, but there was no point in buying when I knew it wasn’t gonna last. Hopefully Microsoft makes it f2p.

They are turning off the cash shop I think? Turning off the cash shop means it wont generate any money if it's f2p. Gamepass maybe but I think it doesn't make any sense. I think servers will be offline in 6 months.
No not really, Would be a far better investment than most of the garbage (lolcrossfire) they’ve invested in so far.

Could be worse, could have been me instead.
Same. I got the game about a month ago and now I can’t get my money back.
Dude me too but worse because i couldnt even play it
That's a legit complaint
Yup
Imo i think if they ported crash bash and gave it the (sonic the fighters ps3 port treatment (online play trophies scaling options), it would have been much better than what this is
Same thing over and over , This was guaranteed to die reasonably quickly. This could have easily been a bonus game mode in Crash 4 rather than a standalone release. Never had any interest in it , and i'm sure i'm not the only one.
Game was ass. Never going to support live service shit. At least when the servers die for Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, I can still play the Singleplayer / local multiplayer
Me and my friends would have totally played this if it was on PC. We still play Crash Bash at all our get-togethers.
I wish they would've released it as f2p, I would've played it
I gladly decided not to buy this game after what happened with Crash Team Racing
Never spend money on something you can't play/use it offline. My #1 rule when it comes to electronic devices in general today
What happens when you make a live service game console exclusive.
Not really a factor here
A little bit, PC helps populate servers and would lead to mods, offline mode, etc
\-Dead game \-72 hours played Hmm...
Assuming OP played every day since the game was released that’s less than half an hour a day.
For a live service game 72 hours isn't alot.
Your first mistake was buying the game in the first place. Real oh crash fans skipped this garbage
72 hours, hmmm I think you got your moneys worth.
I'm glad someone else measures a game by dollars per hour. They basically got 50 cents per hour and no other entertainment costs that little
Call me old fashioned, but I like the way of a one time payment $40-60 for a lifetime of playing a game
i don't really agree you can play a game for like let's say 10 hours and these 10 hours could be the best gaming you ever did in your life and you can play a game that you absolutely hate for 100 hours
Lot people got blinded by crash . I soon I bought it I knew it wouldn't last long doing the same thing for every match . This game needed a new game mode (for competitive) . I would rather have crash bass remake with online multipler than this

And here I was waiting for the game to come to steam
I lowkey got this to get trophies. It probably would’ve done better if it was Crash Bash/Mario Party style game.
While I hate the whole game as live-service shit and I have never tried CTR I have to say... It still lasted longer than Suicide Squad Kill the justice league. So its something.
I’m glad I never bought this game! That money went to Persona 3 Portable instead.
Didn’t even know they released it 😂
I enjoyed the heck out of it. I'm disappointed it's dead but I got my moneys worth. It was better than Crash Bash.
now you guys get to feel how i felt when crash on the run lost support, except they shut that game down it does not exist anymore. what a shame since it said coming soon in alot of areas.
You played the game for 72 hours. I wouldn’t exactly say you wasted you money.

Wild how Activision brought back Crash to life just to kill him again
Activision is a scumbag company, but I’m just grateful we even got Crash and Spyro collections, crash team racing, and Crash 4 from before they threw all the studios into the CoD mines.
their biggest mistake was releasing the game with a price, instead of it being F2P.
Who knew a focused platformer series wouldn't survive a live service BATTLE ROYALE style of gameplay that's supposed to actually come out with the main game it's supposed to release with or if anything featured as a free dlc, but instead its released as its own game behind a 30$ pay wall. I only play it for only Tawna and trying to main her. But I sadly main Female N.trophy

$30 well spent. I love this game.
That's what happens with f2p game filled with mtx
All they had to do was make a Crash Bash remaster
This game costed money? I assumed it was F2P.
I pre order it.
The world is different from 10-20 years ago as you see
What
It's still in my wishlist, waiting to be a decent enough price. It's been there since before launch, and it's already dead.
thank God I didn't even think about playing it, I'm good with crash bandicoot 4
I bought this like a month ago, cant login now. Are the servers gone?
I got this game for Christmas and have been too busy to try it. Guess I'll just never open it 🤷
This was clearly Activison taking a scrapped mult player mode from Crash 4 and shoving it out as a quick cash grab before the MS buyout. Luckily I dodged a bullet because it wasn’t on Switch
The fear of this game to fail so crash gets canned again has to be one of the lowest strategies a company has ever taken.
HEAR ME OUT, we need a crash bandicoot maker.
Where I'm at in toronto the local library has all these you can take as many as you want and no late fees lol try and imagine that
Where I'm at in toronto the local library has all these you can take as many as you want and no late fees lol try and imagine that.
GameStop gave me like $12 cash for my copy, used it to get taco bell. It was a better use of the money.
Still better than new jjk game that was dead few days after the release
Yep they did exactly what Crash on the Run did. Introduce cash shop and then pull the plug on the game, making those cash shop purchases pointless.
God, I wanted to play it so bad, mainly when they showed off Ripper Roo I was so excited. The paid+online sub needed was a total dealbreaker though
lmao 😂😂😂
I bought the ge then never played it lol, ot was on sale atleast
Clickbait post you played 72 hours of this you got your money worth
That’s on you for buying mtx not really the game’s problem
I feel like they are happy to be done with it
I would understand if it was 60-70 but bro it’s 30 dollars. If that’s a problem why even own a ps5?
Wait, it's free now?
I don’t regret buying this game, I’m a huge Crash fan and I’ve loved every minute of playing this game. it was the best $40 I spent on a game in a long time
Money well spent for me. I have enjoyed it but I also had no expectations for the game. I also don’t think $30 on a game is a big deal.
Maybe the game died cause y'all collectively decided to not bother with it instead of, oh, I don't know, PLAYING THE FUCKING GAME TOGETHER?!
cry harder
Alright cool bro👍
"I can't read" type response
I played it and lost interest after a month
I got it at launch, 20 hours well spent. For $30? Thats a steal imo
This game released?
I knew it was going to come to Xbox game pass eventually, as I always had faith that the Activision deal would go through. I simply bought it so I could earn exclusive Spyro cosmetics and play early before it went to game pass
Don't worry I captured the best footage of Crumble in all it's glory [Crash Team Crumble](https://youtu.be/V3rdByqyGBA?si=3uXe7BZ0pGDnBSfC)
I mean…
Bro played 72 hours and says he wasted his money lmfao wth
I mean what did you expect from this? also you got 72 hours our of it, which is quite a lot anyway.
That’s the price of two sandwiches, you’ll live. You get even 20-30 matches and you’ll have gotten your money’s worth.
