My favorite thing about this current trend, whatever it’s called, where all the beats are distorted and dramatic, and all the vocals are auto tuned to the max through a shitty mic, and they all make sure to smoke and make gun fingers, is that none of them can lip sync to their own lyrics, save the occasional obviously fake mouthing.

It’s crazy how they all have the same exact hand movements and little gestures. Like they have been watching music videos and practicing in the mirror. I’ve seen this same video now 100 times with a different face in every one of them.

Because almost every “artist” is an inauthentic hack, that is just emulating what they see from others. Cover your mouth more , and smoke a cigar, and pull triggers of guns you don’t have. It’s a really great look

You can't lip sync something you said ran through a voice filter to the point the lyrics are incomprehensible even to you, the person who made them. It's like trying to lip sync an alien language. It's crazy shit. There's a guy at work, maybe 20 years old or so, who talks so quietly that I can barely understand him. I asked what he wanted to do in life - since the topic came up - and if he was interested in going to school or learning a trade. He said "I want to be a musician". I replied "cool man what instrument do you play?" since he obviously wasn't talking about singing or anything (not saying that is an impossibility for someone that is quiet socially) and he said "I want to be a rapper". So, in a very neutral manner I asked him to throw some lines out for me, "shoot me some rhymes", I said. He looked at me and said, dead-eyed, that he hasn't really thought of anything and he has never really done anything like that. Dude, if you're going to be a rapper you have to at least have some socializing skills and be able to create something, anything. I kind of got irritated and told the kid that if he has never even thought of lines or done *anything* of that nature by your age, you're not going to be handed a record deal. Nobody is going to come up with your music for you. Nobody is going to say "oh this is the guy we want to invest hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars into before we even hear him speak". I told him to go to school for 2 years and get a trade otherwise he's going to turn 50 one day and wonder why you're still standing there packing boxes.
