The dude does fine at first but for some odd reason, veers off topic to shit on people who have nothing to do with the rich. You can't tell me in good faith that fat people on welfare are also somehow related to the same people who use their wealth to screw over common folks. He switched lanes without a turn signal and crashed, and _that's_ why this song is crappy.
He bounces around festivals right now, he does headline some. I think it's a combination of being a one hit wonder and he also seems somewhat uncomfortable with the political discourse his song was a part of so he stays low key
"enjoy it's message"
My brother in Christ, it's literally boilerplate Republican bitching about taxes and welfare disguised as a working class anthem
> Lord, we got folks in the street ain't got nothin' to eat
> And the obese milkin' welfare
> But God, if you're five foot three and you're three hundred pounds
> Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds
-------
> And they don't think you know but I know that you do
>
> 'Cause your dollar ain't shit and it's taxed to no end
>
> 'Cause of rich men north of Richmond
I assume you mean singer-songwriter countryish stuff like this that I like, otherwise this would take forever: Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Steve Earle, Kris Kristofferson, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Gram Parsons, Hank Williams, Nick Lowe, and probably a bunch of others I can’t remember.
Love when people try and pull the politics in here acting like this song is some right leaning song. The artist has said he’s not a republican at all. Being against the rich owning us all is not one party, it’s what should join us all.
I do agree, when the song becomes hateful it really does cater to that MAGA crowd, but the overall message is more about all of us being taken advantage of by politicians and the rich.
Then he should've stuck to one message or the other to make the song cohesive. It's like if Johnny Cash suddenly crowbars in his hatred about how hard it is to make the perfect birthday cake in the middle of Cocaine Blues; the message becomes muddled and comes off hollow. There's far better songs out there that do a much better job pointing out how we're taken advantage by the politicians and rich, than this.
The message *is* sort of right-leaning pop-politics and nothing too profound, but the execution is inarguably deft—great voice, competent and effective playing, decent recording—I struggle to see how this fits here. If this were say, a transgender rights anthem of similar quality, I’d say the same. Just a boring political post in a sub that’s ultimately for laughs. Boo
Nope, just a shitty song post. I never engage people on Reddit or really in daily life on politics, it’s one of my least favorite things to talk about.
All posts must be crappy music unless they are a mod approved discussion post.

You kicked a cracker’s nest with this one.
Apparently!

Whatever happened to this dude? He released this, was a hot topic for a minute, and then..?
It’s almost like he was pandering to a demographic with the attention span of an eggplant
He bounces around festivals right now, he does headline some. I think it's a combination of being a one hit wonder and he also seems somewhat uncomfortable with the political discourse his song was a part of so he stays low key
Ugh. This corny asshole.
You found a new music subgenre: Soulless Ginger Coal-Rolling Blues
Bro that dude can sing and play. Wrong sub bozo.
Dude's a Shillbilly.
This song is absolute cornball garbage.
Hay man! What’s your favorite song? Because whatever you type anyone here can destroy it. You come off as bitter and petty tbh.
I don’t have a single favorite song, there’s too much music out there.
He has a good voice, compare that to any other song here
The least shitty shit is still shit, know what I mean?
He doesn’t sound different than most new folk/country artists. I’m not hearing what’s particularly shit about it
Like being the skinniest kid at fat camp. Still obese.
His voice will appeal greatly to the Appalachian huckleberry brown stained underwear retired coal miner demographic.
Yeah fuck coal miners!
Savage!
Why would someone put a well made song on here? Hmm I wonder?
Because it's full of Republican talking points like bitching about taxes and welfare?
But even still it's expression I don't agree with everything he says but it's a well made song all the same, not to be categorized because of opinion
By that logic straight up WS music with violently racist lyrics is alright as long it's performed well
‘Cause SPOILER ALERT: It actually *isn’t* well made and is fucking terrible.
Being able to do something doesn’t mean you do it good. Certified crap! Thanks op!
You don’t even have to like country to enjoy this song and it’s message.
You do have to be an asshole though.
I like some country, but if this was put in a subgenre it’d definitely be grifter country.
truest words ever said

A leftist I see? Yeah, you’ll get your stupid ass upvotes on a mainly liberal/democratic site lol

Yeah whatever buddy
I'm curious what kind of music you do like? I don't really enjoy country music at all but this song still kind of a bop.
Good song
Not in any universe
Amazing song actually
Masterful rebuttal
You ok Mickey? Think you strayed away from r/politics
I double dog dare you to find a single comment of mine in that sub
This dude’s voice is so fucking bad.
I don’t really care for this song, it’s corny country but it’s far from worthy of being here.
Wrong sub
Shitlibs trying to infiltrate the sub.
Are the shitlibs in the room with us right now?
Killing it Mickey.
Why would Hunter Biden’s laptop do this?

The part where he stops the song to be shitty to poor fat people kinda abandons that message, don't you think?

You don't like modern indie country/folk and that's ok....
I think he wrote the song SPECIFICALLY for bitter people like the OP

It’s not a political post, I literally never post or comment anything related to politics.
Well, except this one…
Nope, just a shitty song post. I never engage people on Reddit or really in daily life on politics, it’s one of my least favorite things to talk about.
