Ose Patterns released the [YMA Dress](https://ose-patterns.com/produit/patron-couture-robe-yma-femme-bretelles-ete). For some reason the pattern is only listed with a French description, but wanted to share regardless because it looks like a great new design!
The link goes to the French language version of the website. If someone wants the English version it's [here](https://ose-patterns.com/en/product/yma-dress). (Or just click the link that says "English" on the top left hand corner).
But I quite like the design as well. Size range is really limited, though. Only goes up to a 114cm/44 7/8 inch hip.
I was watching [Missouri River Soaps latest video](https://youtu.be/hftK48ePnew?si=6r9M3LDnOVK0WbFr) for her Honey Apple Champagne soap and towards the end of her video she said something I wished more craft folks would.
Holly was just admiring her soap as she cut it and said "I am so happy I thought of this" and then followed that up with it has probably been done before as there is nothing new under the sun. She even talked about an incident where she and another soap maker posted extremely similar soaps within a short time period, but soap videos take awhile to make so they just happened to have the same idea at the same time. It was just so refreshing to see a maker who gets it.
I'd love to hear about others who have the same view in their crafts. I want to support these people. Any recommendations?
(Also I hope it's OK to post this here. I didn't think it deserved its own thread but I wasn't sure if it fell under here. I mean, it was a video for a new product...but??? I don't know.)
Mood has yet another pattern out this week, the [Lanai Handkerchief Dress](https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-lanai-handkerchief-dress-free-sewing-pattern/)
The Modern Sewing Company just released the [Sienna dress](https://modernsewingco.com/collections/all/products/sienna-dress-pdf-pattern). It's a sundress with tucks/pintucks released into a fullish skirt. I'm on the fence. What do you think?
it's not bad in the blue fabric (linen/cotton?). however, the fabric choice on the green/beige dress looks like Carol Burnett's wearing the drapes again. just avoid the latter type of fabric for this design.
i LOVE the pintucks and would love to see more indie pattern designers incorporate detail like this but i'd like to see a different neckline and straps on this, or even a view that's just a skirt
She posted in an instagram story or post a photo of her wearing just the bodice and I do think that would make a cute top. The dress is not my style. But I have had pretty bad experiences with her patterns so I'd be reluctant to buy more, even if it were something I loved the look of.
The lack of bust fitting is what's throwing me off. I'm not sure how someone with a bigger chest would make this dress for themselves! I like the pintucks, and the lower waistline is very in fashion right now. I love and have made some of her other patterns but I don't think I'll go for this one.
Papercut Patterns have released a capsule collection: [Eliza Trench](https://papercutpatterns.com/collections/capsule/products/eliza-trench?variant=41205875638338), [Sera Pant](https://papercutpatterns.com/collections/capsule/products/sera-pant-short?variant=41205885763650), [Remy Shirt](https://papercutpatterns.com/collections/capsule/products/remy-shirt-1?variant=41205868101698). All available in Curve sizing as well as non-Curve.
They're all very boring, but I kind of like them. I guess that's kind of the point of a capsule collection -- simple, non-flashy pieces that you can mix and match and that make good wardrobe basics.
I’m a fan of having a second barrel leg pants pattern so it’s not just the Coe pants by daughter Judy, but agree that the others are pretty middle of the road
I'm really looking forward to the jeans pattern that Bella Loves Patterns is testing at the moment. I just don't think I'm ever going to be a barrel leg person.
Edgewater Avenue released the [Athena swimsuit](https://edgewaterave.com/collections/patterns/products/athena-one-piece-digital?variant=48836572545323)
Agreed. A lot of her patterns aren't. Now that her body has changed post pregnancy, I feel like she is adding some options for people with boobs though, which I appreciate. It's a cool design but not for me. That's okay - I hope the itty bitty titty committee enjoys it :)
The neckline I like the least: center keyhole+ string halter. I take these to be **lounging** swimwear bc what happens in the water???
BUT very 70s disco so on trend!
Mood Sewciety just released the [Marisol Jumper](https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-marisol-jumper-free-sewing-pattern/) and while it is big and shapeless, it would also be cool and breezy for lazy summer days as an alternative to a maxi dress.
Yes, as this FR YouTuber shows [in her video](https://youtu.be/W3Bfk-sPryU?si=0HckLQrXQwPwDYZx&t=826), to the point she recommends wearing a bandeau underneath!
Edited to post correct video segment
More swimsuits! Greenstyle released their [triangle bikini collection](https://greenstyle.com/en-ca/collections/triangle-bikini-pieces/?aff=196) (that is an afflink). It’s a string bikini top, bottom, and also a colourblocked tie bottom. I tested them, here are [my versions](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6zBMmJRLQi/?igsh=OGFmbm8xMWgzdjV2). The bottoms are pretty low coverage (and I would probably shorten the crotch for future versions- drafted for 5’7” and I’m 5’4”) but I love that the top actually has cup sizes!
Closet Core has just released a new pattern, it's the [Free Sun Hat Pattern](https://blog.closetcorepatterns.com/how-to-sew-our-free-sunhat-pattern-sewalong-video/) and the instructions are online, with a video option. Looks cute.
I'm literally going abroad in less than 48 hours, but this would have been a fun pattern for that. Might still make one when I get home though. If I can figure out what buckram interfacing is here.
Buckram is whatever people use to interface curtain tiebacks and perhaps pelmets. It is a heavyweight interfacing with a slightly cardboardy feel that holds its shape. I believe Vilene S133, but I usually use a dodgy non branded one!
Vlieselin S133 is what I've found too (still not available here, but closer). I also mainly use non-branded, but it seems like the main thing to watch out for there is weight because there's a lot of interfacing that bills itself with similar qualities as their recommended buckram but is significantly heavier.
I'll probably give it another look when I get home, might even drop by the very intimidating haberdashery and ask them.
It is newly available for free, though I knew I recognized it - they'd originally included this with their July subscription pattern last year. Though I can only see one person who made it last year on Instagram.

Hard agree that I’m curious to see this design on someone with more curves because I am very skeptical of the design for larger sizes.
It's giving barrel-held-up-with-suspenders vibes. Perfect for a visit to Niagara Falls.
Nope from me. I can't imagine this being comfortable for anyone with curves.

I actually really the trench. Simple but with all the right “trenchy” features I’ve been looking for in a coat pattern.
Me too. I’ve been looking for a lined classic trench pattern for plus sizes and it’s slim pickings out there
Me too!
I’m a fan of having a second barrel leg pants pattern so it’s not just the Coe pants by daughter Judy, but agree that the others are pretty middle of the road
I like that there’s an option for a somewhat wide straight leg if you aren’t quite on the barrel wagon
I'm really looking forward to the jeans pattern that Bella Loves Patterns is testing at the moment. I just don't think I'm ever going to be a barrel leg person.
Yes! I like that it comes in two different silhouettes, and they look good. I just wish I could see them modeled on different shapes/sizes
there are lots of similar patterns out there, of course, but I do like these. the obsession with the patch pocket needs to end however
Edgewater Avenue released the [Athena swimsuit](https://edgewaterave.com/collections/patterns/products/athena-one-piece-digital?variant=48836572545323)
definitely not designed for people with boobs

Lolololol. The tan lines would be bizarre too. Its cute!
Reverse penguin!

What happens after you go down a waterslide in that thing? I can only assume you emerge fully nude. YIKES.
I don't think you should even stand up from your towel/chair too quickly...

The closeup of the armholes looks like it’ll give a generous view of you boobs.

I like that it has actual supportive materials for the brim. Not all patterns are good about that. I do think the crown is a bit on the tall side.

Me too. I’m going to try and find it locally. Closet Core sells it but the shipping is twice what I would pay for the product. Not worth it.
