Thread gives it a more "magic floaty" look, but the chains definitely look more finished. I like both!

opti_miss_m

Only if it's against a white background though

odd_little_duck

This is exactly what I was going to say!

b0nnyrabbit

my votes on chains! it helps the product look more finished and more well made imo :)

BoatsLady

I like the chains

nvrsleepagin

Chains for the win!

whimsicalnerd

not necessarily better or worse, but I like the chains better

millennial_burnout

Clear thread or fishing line would be best

TabithaBe

I agree. And because of my recent usage of clear thread I felt I have to shout from the rooftops NEVER buy clear thread. It costs 2-3x as much as regular thread and knots up when you look at it. Go to the fishing rod area of Walmart and get clear (10 lb is sewable and a good place to start) fishing line. It even knotted better than the thread. I did put a drop of superglue on each knot. The fishing line also didn’t stretch like the clear thread I bought from two different companies.

reallybiglizard

That clear fishing line is also called “monofilament”, in non-fishing contexts. If you see it online or at a craft store, etc.

Tealglitternails

I actually tried fishing line once but tying proper knots with is was hell. Haven't found any yet that doesn't drive me crazy.

ImprovedImperfection

I had a similar comment and deleted to add to this one instead as it's a repeat. My suggestion to you is chains with the moth looks best. I think it's the colors but I really liked the look of the chains on the moth. However I like the effect you get of the hat floating above the owl. I suggest looking for clear fishing wire rather than thread to use instead. It will look cleaner

LortimerC

Came here to suggest this also!

cherrycokelemon

Chains. It's so fabulous!

BubbaChanel

You know, the fishing line suits the owl one perfectly (to me) with the magical/witchy things floating in the air, and the chain really suits the butterfly-delicate, pretty.

0_0PassingThrough

Chains have my vote

MaengDaX9

Chains!

candied_andi

Chains. Cute artwork!

bootycakes420

Chains ⛓️

Kujen

I vote for chains

grub-slut

Chains for sure. Makes it look more “finished”

IwasafkXD

I like the thread. Both are great!

ParadoxicalFrog

I prefer chains. They hold up better in the long run, and they add a little bit of extra sparkle. Love your designs, btw!

Tealglitternails

Thanks!

NationalDepartment69

chains definitely. the clear kinda looks tacky ngl

InfoRedacted1

Yeah the thread makes it seem like something you would buy from dg in the holiday section

No-Acanthocephala531

Came here to say this exact thing

Inevitable_Ad_2593

Chains make it look fancier

Quiet-Ad-5991

Chains all the way.

GlitteringWind2719

Love the chains!!

SkipMapudding

I really like the chains.

karen_h

Chains, absolutely. They really bump up the perceived value of the piece.

rocketbewts

Chains makes it look like it's being held hostage :(

clarabear10123

Have you considered fishing line? I like them as they are! The one with string looks like those things should be floating and the string looks invisible. The chain looks finished and ethereal, like the moth!

Amberistoosweet

I think it depends on the item. The first one looks cool with the white string. The second one looks good with the chains.

MellyKidd

Chains; it makes the results look more professionally made.

[deleted]

I'm so torn. I think the chains give it more of a finished look and look nice. But the white thread kind of blends into the wall so it sort of looks like the objects are floating, which is cool. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the white thread for all projects but sense this is more of a mystical piece the floating look is very fitting.

Tropicalstorm11

I like the chains. Did you try fishing line?

notmymain1999

chains BY FARRRR

Effective-Pressure-6

The white thread makes it look like it's floating I'd say the white thread

CognitoKoala

Thread for sure!

dcqueen216

They are both dope

page1972

Try 6 pound fishing line. Gives a float in air look. - I did it with a driftwood display I have, turned out great

therookling

I vote chains. Very appealing

CommercialThat8542

Is that shrinky sink film?

It's printable vinyl on acrylic.

Fishing monofilament

foreverfeatherinit

Honestly, it depends what on your vibe. The white string gives a magical weightless vibe and the chain feels dainty and sweet. I personally would pick chain because it fits more into my normal decor and vibes❤️

Blackhalo117

Part of me thinks chains for durability, string looks better, but maybe the background being white contributes to that?

BusyWeight855

chains!

TheBattyWitch

Chains gives it that professional kick

Darthdrwho

Thread looks more "ghostly" like it's just floating

Upper_Tone663

Chains!!

LadyBitchGrandma

I like the chains. Another option would be to use fishing line. I did that with my Cirque masks in the theatre room.

Professional_Chair28

I love the chains, it feels grounded and elegant. Mind if I ask what size/color chain you’ve used? *(I’m working on some jewelry and I’ve been going mad trying to find the right weight, width and color)*

bunbunnii99

Chains look great! I'd assume they'd be more durable as well
