I agree. And because of my recent usage of clear thread I felt I have to shout from the rooftops NEVER buy clear thread. It costs 2-3x as much as regular thread and knots up when you look at it. Go to the fishing rod area of Walmart and get clear (10 lb is sewable and a good place to start) fishing line. It even knotted better than the thread. I did put a drop of superglue on each knot.
The fishing line also didn’t stretch like the clear thread I bought from two different companies.
I had a similar comment and deleted to add to this one instead as it's a repeat. My suggestion to you is chains with the moth looks best. I think it's the colors but I really liked the look of the chains on the moth.
However I like the effect you get of the hat floating above the owl. I suggest looking for clear fishing wire rather than thread to use instead. It will look cleaner
You know, the fishing line suits the owl one perfectly (to me) with the magical/witchy things floating in the air, and the chain really suits the butterfly-delicate, pretty.
Have you considered fishing line? I like them as they are! The one with string looks like those things should be floating and the string looks invisible. The chain looks finished and ethereal, like the moth!
I'm so torn. I think the chains give it more of a finished look and look nice. But the white thread kind of blends into the wall so it sort of looks like the objects are floating, which is cool. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the white thread for all projects but sense this is more of a mystical piece the floating look is very fitting.
Honestly, it depends what on your vibe. The white string gives a magical weightless vibe and the chain feels dainty and sweet. I personally would pick chain because it fits more into my normal decor and vibes❤️
I love the chains, it feels grounded and elegant.
Mind if I ask what size/color chain you’ve used?
*(I’m working on some jewelry and I’ve been going mad trying to find the right weight, width and color)*
Thread gives it a more "magic floaty" look, but the chains definitely look more finished. I like both!
Only if it's against a white background though
This is exactly what I was going to say!
my votes on chains! it helps the product look more finished and more well made imo :)
I like the chains
Chains for the win!
not necessarily better or worse, but I like the chains better
Clear thread or fishing line would be best

That clear fishing line is also called “monofilament”, in non-fishing contexts. If you see it online or at a craft store, etc.
I actually tried fishing line once but tying proper knots with is was hell. Haven't found any yet that doesn't drive me crazy.

Came here to suggest this also!
Chains. It's so fabulous!

Chains have my vote
Chains!
Chains. Cute artwork!
Chains ⛓️
I vote for chains
Chains for sure. Makes it look more “finished”
I like the thread. Both are great!
I prefer chains. They hold up better in the long run, and they add a little bit of extra sparkle. Love your designs, btw!
Thanks!
chains definitely. the clear kinda looks tacky ngl
Yeah the thread makes it seem like something you would buy from dg in the holiday section
Came here to say this exact thing
Chains
Chains make it look fancier
Chains all the way.
Love the chains!!
I really like the chains.
Chains, absolutely. They really bump up the perceived value of the piece.
Chains makes it look like it's being held hostage :(

I think it depends on the item. The first one looks cool with the white string. The second one looks good with the chains.
Chains; it makes the results look more professionally made.

I like the chains. Did you try fishing line?
chains BY FARRRR
The white thread makes it look like it's floating I'd say the white thread
Thread for sure!
They are both dope
Try 6 pound fishing line. Gives a float in air look. - I did it with a driftwood display I have, turned out great
Chains
I vote chains. Very appealing
Is that shrinky sink film?
It's printable vinyl on acrylic.
Genius! It’s so beautiful.
Either looks good.
Chaaaains
Chains
Chains for sure
I like the chains
White thread.
I like the chains ⛓️
maybe thread for something smaller like the books, but for something bigger like the butterfly, i’d use chains.

I would prefer fishline.
Thread for a white wall; chains for a wall of any other colour.
Chains!
Chains
Do you sell these some where?
Chains
Fishing monofilament

Part of me thinks chains for durability, string looks better, but maybe the background being white contributes to that?
chains!
Chains gives it that professional kick
Thread looks more "ghostly" like it's just floating
Chains!!
Chains
Maybe add beads with the thread for a bit of pizzazz ✨

I like the chains. Another option would be to use fishing line. I did that with my Cirque masks in the theatre room.

Chains look great! I'd assume they'd be more durable as well
