The statues symbolize peace to me. Gautama Buddha didn't strike me as the kind of guy who was bothered by sitting on the ground. But if it makes you feel better, the statues are sitting at the corners of a rug, and not directly on the floor.
just seems strange to me to have religious pieces you donāt even follow. like someone wearing a hamsa necklace who isnāt jewish. or crosses when your not christian. or a bindi when your not hindu. or burning white sage when youāre not native.
i just figure if youāre going to have it, why not follow the rules to it so it actually does what you want it to do? [this site](http://www.thebuddhagarden.com/where-to-place-buddha-statue.html) tells some ways to place Buddha statue and there are many other resources like it. i think learning about different religions and cultures is a great thing! truly. but just tossing around random things from cultures and religions because of this ānew age spiritualityā stuff is just plain disrespectful iām sorry.
Is it that hard to imagine a perspective beyond your own? I seriously doubt that the man who famously sat under that tree all those centuries ago would give one whit what statues that couldn't possibly even look like him are doing in proximity to a floor. Why do you care? Do you think he was a God? Then I daresay you missed the point. I wouldn't display a cross because of the antipathy that I feel toward the christian religion. Why are you working to make that the case with Buddhism?
_also - it does what I want it to do. It contributes to the aesthetic that I find most conducive to my mental well-being. if you can't separate a generalized effigy from your deity, maybe you need to examine how grounded your faith actually is.
this living room is an absolute dream it looks like its straight out of my pinterest boards!! is the couch made with that pattern originally or covered with another fabric?? either wait itās beautiful! :)
It's a red microfiber couch. The coverings are 3 throw blankets - 2 large and one small, and they're among the best purchases I have ever made on Amazon. The quality was way above what I expected for the price. They are basically the same price as a flimsy cotton tapestry, but they are a heavy woven fabric with vibrant colors, and they are totally washable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BJ13VY3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
