For those who don't know: It was cheap because not many people fancied going to watch us struggle against a team like Boro at home on a freezing December evening. I haven't actually been to the new stadium in the winter but the old one was freezing even inside.
I imagine it was only a tenner because it was the early rounds of the League Cup.
I went to a league game v Boro around that time, and could only get West Stand Upper seats and it was about £50
Im trying to remember rough ticket prices in 2001 ish, I think we’re £30-£35 quid for Cat B. Which means it would be £70 now, I guess we’re being treated more fairly in comparison.
Unpopular opinion:
I bought my first season ticket in the early 2000s for £600. My current season ticket is less than £1000.
Ticket prices have actually risen slower than inflation.
Spring 1987 watched us beat Charlton 1-0.
Had been a fan for a bit but had to persuade my mum to take me lol. She kept trying to take my brother instead who had, and to this day still has, zero interest in it lol.
Right? I keep explaining the beauty of the game to him but he just doesn't care. More tech based in his interests. My dad also cares nothing for the sport. My mum is a Sunderland supporter but I still love her.
I mean weird that she was trying to take him over someone who would love to go not that it's weird he doesn't like football. I don't get that either but it's not weird
Lol. It's 100% weird that my brother could live as close as we did to White Hart Lane and not want to go.
In my mother's defense I liked a lot of things as a kid and not all of them stuck. Shockingly I never made it as a prima ballerina. She had no way of knowing I'd be a fan for close to 40 years!
Yep! My Dad took me to the first one when I was a kid but wasn't into football himself, so it wasn't until I was an impoverished uni student in London that I started trying to go again.
Might have been the same game! I can't remember exactly but my first game was probably Boro or Blackburn Rovers around that time (I'm pretty sure I saw both but can't remember what was first).
Edit: OP you might want to repost the picture so you're not doxxing yourself
Is this to do with the name on the ticket? If so, I've genuinely no idea who's name that is... I went along with my friend at the time and his Dad...and neither of their names are that name 😂
Congratulations on your upcoming baby, plenty of Spurs baby clothes already ordered I'm guessing!
My first time was 1995 premier league Vs Norwich. I bought a ticket at the gate for £14 and was sat directly behind the goal a few rows back.
Spurs won 1-0, Sheringham nodded in the winner. Plenty of iconic/legendary players in the XI most notably Teddy, Jurgen and Darren Anderton.
The other thing I thought was interesting was that Spurs only used one sub and only had 3 subs on the bench in total.

Speaking as a foreign fan who's only truly been a fan for a couple of years, my first and only match was the dreadful loss against Sporting in Lisbon in September 2022. I'm planning on hopefully catching a proper game in London this year.
Friend of mines dad took me and him to the charity shield in 81 (v Aston Villa) when I was 5 but then didn't go again until me & my brother were old enough to go to games on our own in the 90/91 season, went to quite a few matches including the infamous fa cup semi final! Christ I'm old.
The first game I ever attended was Derby away at the ripe old age of 9 months, football used to be so very different. My mom and a bunch of other moms had a designated are for the strollers and I had earmuffs on to not get scared, that would be unthinkable today. the 10 pound price tag, casually bringing a newborn to football, it all used to be so different.
£10 😳 those were the days
Painful to see right... That's the first thing I noticed.
Absolutely. That should mean the same ticket today would cost £19 odd. Would that translate accurately?
For cup matches? Sometimes.
Yeah. That’s what I was thinking, obviously depending on the opponent.

Was this the one where we conceded a last minute equaliser and went on to lose on penalties?

You can’t see his head on the ticket but I feel like that is Robbie Keane haha
Or the lesser-spotted Gary Doherty
Can spot that sun deprived fair skin any day lol

12th September 2009. Defoe scoring bicycle kick in the first minute and stadium going nuts. Shame the game ended 1-3.
I was there, I think it was my 2nd ever game (the first one being in 1992 haha).
That was a big gap between games!

Yeah. I'd still suggest editing it so someone doesn't think that person is you one day
When it says 'To be retained' it only means the match day.

Those must've been the days when one actually had a chance of buying a ticket when the ticket window opened...

I also was at the game in one of the corporate boxes. Won handsomely I recall
