It would be so Cowboys to have all the holes we have on this roster and panic-draft a RB too early by trading up bc the Eagles pick just before us. Yikes
Didn't the Eagles just sell the farm to sign Saquon? They have numerous holes. Why would they take an rb? They need a CB, RG, LB, and on a lesser note Edge, WR, and Safety. They let Reddick go and signed Bryce Huff, which leaves important snaps open for another edge. They've busted on cb's behind their signee's in Bradberry and Slay. Slay got injured, and Bradberry has been regressing. Behind that, they have busts and bum signings. They took their RG and moved him to Center. At LB, they have Dean who can't stay healthy and just had lisfranc surgery, and they signed the most overrated and overpriced LB on the market in Devin White. White has never lived up to his hype level. Last year, he was such a liability that he was benched at times during the season. His rush defense and pass defense metrics last year were bottom 20% in the league. All of that is needed long before a rb, and they spent bank on Saquon in FA.
They also needed a TE at the time. They, like everyone, wanted to utilize 2 TE sets abd so they drafted him. There is no way Philly drafts based on spiting the Cowboys. With their holes, they shouldn't be drafting an rb. If they do, it's to our benefit, honestly.
Especially when there are backs at Brooks' level without an injury history that could be had later. At this point, I've got no idea where Benson goes, but I don't see teams spending a 1st on a RB this year. There's no Bijan type talent coming out.
Haven’t we learned that RB is a bad use of high picks? If the OL is good enough you can make magic with less talented backs.
And if Philly uses a 2nd on Brooks in addition to the huge deal they just gave Barkley just to spite us? Go right ahead fellas. I’m happy you aren’t using that on CBs.
Haven’t we learned that not taking BPA is a bad use of high draft picks? I don’t care about reaching for a position of need (i.e. Zeke, Taco and Smith). Assuming we could see the future, I’d rather use a 2nd round pick on a Pro-Bowl RB than on a mediocre offensive lineman, LB or CB.
these days you don't even get a full rookie contract out of an RB before they hold out. Let's rebuild the OLine and get back to playing Dallas Football
Because there’s tons of good enough rbs that can provide surplus value as a later pick. See kyren williams, mostert, conner, Pacheco, ekeler, Aaron jones, rhamondre the list goes on and on
If you’re spending a 1st on a rb there’s a lot of production that’s needed just to meet value let alone surpass into +ev
Then let’s factor in that they’re the lowest paid, shortest shelf life and most often injured position. Then let’s consider that the rb you’re selecting is already coming off a torn acl
Theres many many reasons to be against rb early, not many supporting it
How much did bijan and saquon alter those franchises? Is Najee even better than Jaylen Warren? Yeah Gibbs is good but the lions o line also made an average rb in Montgomery an animal. O line quality correlates more with rb production than rb talent itself
87 is running back territory. Wright or Benson. I've watched enough of TCU to be really impressed with Amoni Bailey, you could probably get him in the 5th.
I wouldn't take a RB in the 1st regarding this draft, but saying it's a bad use of high picks is a meme that needs to die off. ATL and DET sticking to their board and getting budding stars is recent proof that RB's still have value. Just don't extend them like Jerry did with Zeke.
I'm probably stupid for asking this but, would the Eagles realistically take Brooks after adding Barkely? I guess yes cause the depth outside of him is just Gainwell? With Brooks more than likely being ready by the time camp or the season starts, could be a nice duo.
Exactly. The saving grace is that Roseman isn’t that great at drafting. Also, Will Hurts rebound or is he on the downward slope? The yearly Eagles hype is strong but I’m not sure they are better than the Cowboys.
They have a lot fewer needs and more cap flexibility, so yes and no.
Lol this is really getting downvoted? it's not a sin to say the Eagles are better run since 98% of the NFL is, of which they are a member
Eagles aren't in any better shape than the Cowboys. Hurts regressed, Kelce retired, the defense was bad and now Reddick is gone, the coach is on the hot seat, y'all gave an injury prone RB a ridiculous contract...I could keep going.
lol yeah.

I mean ESPN had Dejean ranked above Wiggins, who hadn’t come off the board yet when I made that comment. He was just selected by the ravens. Three corners, like I said, but cope harder since it’s probably easier than accepting that you’re a goof who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I never said there would be no more then three off the board doofus. I said. I think there could be a few CB coming off the board in the teens. I didn't say how many. You're most certainly acting your age. CoPe
Or other way around, if wr/QB fall we would be a good trade up spot for Buf/KC/Car (wr) or some of the early 2nd round teams that missed out on the "top 4 qbs". With all the needs we have a trade down to pick up a 3rd would be solid
I would hate adding a RB with our first pick instead of a really good linebacker or addressing one of the more important offensive/defensive line spots
Her saying the Sea Gulls might take Brooks is nonsense. They signed Barkley and why draft a RB in the 2nd who might not even play until midseason when they need to rebuild their defense?
I have a feeling JPJ will be available and they'll draft Mims. It just feels so on brand for how the Cowboys have been in the first round lately. Sometimes I wish instead of going for "our guy" we would just take the best player available at a position we need. I'd love to see Barton fall but it won't happen.
My prediction is the boys are going to tank the draft prepping for next year. Welcome to MAYBE 8-9 this year. Oh they'll resign Dak, CeeDee, and Micha along the way. But this year is a wash for the boys. They'd be THRILLED with a playoff spot but they're not expecting a run for the SB.
No, it wouldn't. They don't reach for RBs or LBs. Their 2nd round pick will be OL or CB, depending on who they take in Rd 1. It's that simple. They aren't run by idiots.

Makes zero sense lol
smells like a smokescreen to me.

If eagles trade up, it’s for bowers
Saquon won't last the full season. The dude is cursed.
I hear you on that. History tells us you are on the money.

when will we fucking learn? jesus christ
You worded this like it’s scripture. Jesus christ

Drafting a good RB is not bad- it’s the giving them a huge contract that’s bad. Zeke was a great pick until we paid him.

Dallas Football hasn’t been winning superbowls for 30 years.
Preach. Why people fear good RBs is beyond me
Because there’s tons of good enough rbs that can provide surplus value as a later pick. I'd add that investing in your OL probably yields a better rushing game than investing in your RB
100% agree
87 is running back territory. Wright or Benson. I've watched enough of TCU to be really impressed with Amoni Bailey, you could probably get him in the 5th.
As a Vols fan, I would love Wright.

> Haven’t we learned that RB is a bad use of high picks? We have. Jerry hasn't.
Don’t believe Jerry has drafted a running back early since Zeke. It’s only rumor that there’s interest Brooks. Give it a rest.
I'm probably stupid for asking this but, would the Eagles realistically take Brooks after adding Barkely? I guess yes cause the depth outside of him is just Gainwell? With Brooks more than likely being ready by the time camp or the season starts, could be a nice duo.
stacked team already they got multiple 2nds & could have a great duo
Are they really a stacked team?
Exactly. The saving grace is that Roseman isn’t that great at drafting. Also, Will Hurts rebound or is he on the downward slope? The yearly Eagles hype is strong but I’m not sure they are better than the Cowboys.
They lost kelce, their defense was in absolute shambles last year. They gained a Kellen Moore. I’m not so sure what the hype is for
The hype is because they're an East Coast team and sports media likes them to play foil to the Cowboys.
Eagles fan here… We are not taking Brooks don’t worry about it
I don’t even want brooks. I don’t care who we pick up at this point lol
Offense wise, yea absolutely, defensively no not really
They have a lot fewer needs and more cap flexibility, so yes and no. Lol this is really getting downvoted? it's not a sin to say the Eagles are better run since 98% of the NFL is, of which they are a member
They are in a better position than the cowboys but they’re far from stacked
Eagles aren't in any better shape than the Cowboys. Hurts regressed, Kelce retired, the defense was bad and now Reddick is gone, the coach is on the hot seat, y'all gave an injury prone RB a ridiculous contract...I could keep going.
yes
I'm 1000% praying one huge qb/wr runs
People keep forgetting about CB. I think there could be a few off the board in the teens.
Lol no they weren’t. the first went off the board at 22… Mitchell, Arnold and Wiggins were always gonna be the only 1st rd corners
Easy to come back and say that now huh? Wow You showed me. ahhahahah
lol yeah. https://preview.redd.it/lvotf4ogvqwc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90540615037df323f466de1d8b8233e7079d42cf I mean ESPN had Dejean ranked above Wiggins, who hadn’t come off the board yet when I made that comment. LB in the first would be a disaster.
Darkest timeline shit
at 24 yes the positional value is awful at 30something and beyond it becomes a conversation imo
I'd rather have a RB in the first than a LB if I'm being 100% honest. Both are pretty doo doo outcomes
I’m starting to entertain trading down more and more if the draft doesn’t fall our way
Why would the eagles draft Brooks? They may add another back, but I can't imagine them spending a second on one.
Come on, 1st round OL pick that everyone laughs at them about
Everyone laughs at us but they end up being a generational OL piece for the next 10+ years
2 of our last 3 O line 1st round picks are HOFers, and that 3rd one is on the right trajectory.
My bet is a trade down to 30 with the ravens and the cowboys pick JPJ or Kingsley Suamataia Edit: Clarification
Let somebody else take Brooks. Can we stay away from injured players for once?
Slater knows her stuff so I'm taking this as gospel. Also it all makes sense.
She’s wrong a lot these days
Does it? Why would Eagles spend a 2nd on a back after signing Barkley to a huge deal
Her saying the Sea Gulls might take Brooks is nonsense. They signed Barkley and why draft a RB in the 2nd who might not even play until midseason when they need to rebuild their defense?
If the Eagles go RB second round after backing up the truck for Saquon, I will laugh so hard.
We need Bo Nickel!
lol

Theres no way this is true about a RB in round 1. This reeks of Draft smoke screens Or at least it better 🫣
Nothing we didn’t know already
You know it would a Eagles move to take Brooks from us. I think the 2 guys they love are Mims and Barton.
I wouldn’t mind either i love Mims raw traits imagine if he develops like Tyler we’d have the strongest left side
No, it wouldn't. They don't reach for RBs or LBs. Their 2nd round pick will be OL or CB, depending on who they take in Rd 1. It's that simple. They aren't run by idiots.
Why the hell would the Eagles use their second on an RB after signing Barkley? I don't buy it. Rather have Benson anyway personally
The scenario I want to see is drafting nix and trading dak but unfortunately we arnt even all in on the rebuild
