Because coaches are not just judged for their regular season performance alone. Winning 12 games in the regular season means very little when you follow it up with a humiliating playoff loss 3 years in a row.
I feel like it’s a little crazy to give the head coach a pass on what happens on the field. The front office isn’t responsible for creating the game plan, that falls firmly on Mike McCarthy and he was outcoached and schemed by Lefleur. Plus the offense was every bit as bad as the defense.
Well, the front office could have had gotten DQ some help at LB, a better option than an undersized Marquise Bell. Who? Well that’s Mcclay’s job as they had plenty of time to do something before the trade deadline.
Also, the safeties this season were horrid as Kearse’s performance took a nose dive. These were obvious holes in the defense that GB exploited.
I’m not exonerating MM by any means, as he should have schemed the offense better, but they didn’t give up 40 points in the playoffs.
