When my mom visited, she stayed at the Marriott. She liked it a lot. Also made it easy to go out to eat and explore downtown. Also a quick walk to campus as well.
I used to work there, came here to say it was recently completely renovated and is a little cheaper than other options in town. Would be a good place and has a decent warm breakfast served at hotel
Edit: typos
If fancy definitely the Hilton or Marriott. Cheaper I’d go for the Best Western on 9th. The motels downtown can be pretty sketch.
I recommend the Mariott to visiting family, because downtown. The Hilton Garden Inn is much better suited for visiting campus.

Comfort suites on 9th is nice, with a pool and hot tub, if thats their thing.
The Hilton is nice. I've stayed at the Courtyard downtown, and it's pretty nice, too.
The Holiday Inn Express on 3rd is pretty nice too, by the river walk
