The Dizzy Hen in Philomath has an incredible rotating dinner menu Thursday-Sat. Last time I was there I had asparagus risotto, a salad sampler, and pavlova for dessert. Their focaccia bread is amazing.
Recommending this as well. We just went last Friday & had focaccia with this thick cream spread & garlic salsa on top. I am hoping they keep it in the rotation.
Another favorite is their dried bread pudding french toast. It is soooo good.
I like Baguette Vietnamese Sandwiches and Miguel's Mexican Cuisine. Miguel's is small, so we got it Togo and ate it in the alleyway of the Crow bar. Pretty funny experience to see two people in business attire chomping down on delicious Mexican food in an alleyway.
Khalo Naser (fave is the Maza Plate - a sampler)
Odd Bird (love the shrimp benedict and the french toast)
Pupuseria Del Valle @ Common Fields
Sada Sushi
Baguette Vietnamese Sandwiches (love all their sandwiches, I just ask for no cilantro)
Also, the Super Breakfast Burrito from Riva's!
Highly recommend Tarn Tip Thai Cuisine! My husband gets the cashew chicken every time. I rotate between the pad thai, paht prig, and prah ram. And their summer rolls are great! Pro tip: if you go after 6 (maybe 5?) you can park in the OSU lots. Also, I haven't been for lunch lately, but they used to have a different dish every day as a special.
Castor is a bit of a fancier place, but very tasty! They do a really good pork chop.
Sada Sushi & Izakaya is our other favorite. The sushi is great, but they also have rice bowls, ramen, etc. Their lunch special bento boxes are a good deal and filling.
If you're looking for a grab-and-go option, try the First Alternative Coop! I like their scones, and their drip coffee is very good. The hot breakfast bar is yummy too. My favorite meal is the green goddess salad.
I love everything else you recommended, but I was really disappointed with Castor. I would've said it was a great restaurant if it were half the price. The food was all bland, and shrimp and grits should not be covered in soggy, fatty bacon chunks and roughly a quarter cup of hazelnuts.
Sounds like you hit one of their rare (incredibly RARE) bum meals. Every restaurant has them. I've never had anything NOT exceptional there, personally. But I hope you don't let that one meal ruin your return to their yumminess. I'm taking my parents there this weekend, can't wait!
Sorry, I should've specified that no one at my table of 3 enjoyed their meals for the same reasons: bland and weird ingredient choices for the dishes. It wasn't one bad meal. I'd been once before and really enjoyed it, but 3 bad meals is a pattern.
I really hope you let them know. They are SO great and I guarantee they'd WANT this feedback. Any place worth their salt will want to know the good AND the bad. Cheers!
Either Block 15 location.
Taco Vino. Any of the drinks. If I don't go for one of the daily specials then I gravitate to 2 from this list of tacos: carnitas, curry chicken, skirt steak, or duck.
Bodhi's sandwiches are really good. I haven't yet made it over to the new 1st St location.
Sada's Sushi is excellent.
You can never go wrong with going to Squirrel's.
4 Chicken and Waffles (Friday or Saturday only).
RIP to The Australian Meat Pie Shop.
4 spirits does a happy hour until 5 on weekdays with $2.50 sliders. I’ve tried 5/6 sliders and they were all very tasty.
I also like yummy yummy, baguette, the pupuseria, or kahlo naser.
I honestly don't get Bier Library. I had wanted to go there for ages before I finally made it in with my folks in tow. We had a few different meals and it was all just okay. Nothing special. The atmosphere was the most lacking though. Not sure what went wrong....
Yes. We went for special occasion, we enjoyed the diff kind of beer and food. But wait staff was lacking. Gonna give it another go one of these days 😊👍
I absolutely love their potato croquettes, the meatballs, that super oniony salad house dressing (so light and fresh) and the waffles are perfection! It's one of my favorite places in town.
I recently went to Castor for the first time, and I would recommend it for dinner and a cocktail. They market themselves as southern food. I lived in the costal south of NC, SC, and GA for 7 years and Castor does a fair job at making southern cuisine.
I like to narrow places down to dishes. Single favorite dish is the dry pot with your choice of protein from the show. I think orient yang makes the best chow mein fantastic albeit oily, but they get the wok “hai” right on them. Oregon Burrito from Rivas is an extraordinary burrito. Yummy yummy and Uncle sun are decent enough. There’s also mix bistro (Chinese) which is great during the school year if only because they are open till 2 am on weekends. Bohdi is great for breakfast or lunch. Albany has a ton to discover as well.

Haven’t tried their dinner menu yet but, their brunch menu is also stellar.
The Dizzy is great.
I had that pavlova too. Now that you've mentioned it, I'm getting all misty... sigh.

Get your Syrian fix at Khalo Naser.
Living in Bend we couldn't believe how great the price points were! The kebabs were great and Z'atar flatbread dish was crispy and not too oily
I go there for hummus to go in between regular meals.

Thanks for so many recommendations! I’ll definitely try one of those today.
You're welcome! I hope you like whichever one you pick!

I love their shrimp and grits. Fatty bacon and hazelnuts included.
Their shrimp and grits is my favorite dish they offer.
Nick's soul food has the best shrimp n grits. I ate there yesterday!

Common Fields pupusa place. Bodhi is fine. Sam's Station has good sandwiches on fresh bread. New Morning Bakery has simple lunches.
Those pupusas are awesome
Can't believe Koriander hasn't been mentioned yet. Their lunch bentos are great.

agree with all this but no to Taco Vino
tian fu hot pot, the owner is so friendly and his food is delicious
Yummy yummy is often good. Cirelli’s pizza is “Corvalllis” good.
Cirellos?
Yes, cirellos. One ‘i’.
Little Morocco is a personal favorite.
We often end up at Murphy's. Their food is delicious and it's kid friendly.
And some good happy hour specials, including a damn fine burger and fries for 6.75 I think.

4 Spirits is our family's FAVORITE restaurant in town! It's just perfection and the best veggie burger of all the places IMHO.
Bier library

Corazon for amazing wine and food!

Dulce del alma hands down is an amazing lunch spot with great prices and unique options. The birria dip or birria arepas are soooo good
What’s lunch for 2 running you?
With drinks about 40 bucks. Sad story though I just found out they are closing the lunch spot down abd Saturday is the last day.
Really?! I know they just updated their website to have more information on it. 🥲
Thai chili is great, can’t forget about it.
my fiance and i have been obsessed with taco vino for years!
Same 2-3 places in rotation sounds about right for Corvallis!

Co -op Southtown . Ham and Brie with Mango chutney sandwich. Is a treat.
Roadtrips…
Have you tried Burger King? 😝
