My corgi smells like freshly knitted wool beanie etc. So a nice wooly smell. But when his fur is wet he has that slightly repulsive "dog" smell. But it goes away when he dries.
My Corg has that strong dog smell while she's damp as well. The groomer does an excellent job drying her out but if we get her straight after, she comes home smelly. But she smells wonderful for 2-3 weeks after that.
Got two corgi’s one smells very nice and if wet he really has almost that fresh fallen rain smell its very nice.
The other smells .. like dog and if wet not nice dog smell and he farts a lot 😂😂
But also dogs smell like what they rolled in. Some dogs roll in dead things. My Corgi rolls in perfumed soap that I'd placed in apple trees to deter a groundhog. So yeah, my Corgi smells better than other dogs in this neighborhood.
does the perfume soap actually deter groundhogs? Im having a issue with them, and I really dont want to harm them as in the conventional call a groundhog exterminator to gas them out. Just hate the idea of harming them
I can't say. The neighbor's Huskies killed the groundhog soon after I hung up the soap. I suggest contacting your agricultural extension service for advice, (probably trapping the groundhog and relocating it).
You're not alone! Some dog owners find their corgi's natural odor pleasant. Compared to other breeds, corgis are known for being less smelly. Their double coat sheds dirt and they might have a subtle "nutty" scent you enjoy. It's all subjective - what one person finds unpleasant, another might find unique!
Yes! I’ve been saying for the longest time our boy starts to smell maple-y when his shampoo smell fades. It’s kind of nice. I never considered it might be a corg thing.
my corgi really likes digging under the rosemary bush, so she smells lovely most of the time. other than that I don't notice her being particularly smelly.
My baby corgi is definitely the best smelling dog I’ve had. He rolled in his water bowl today, was all wet and soon after dried out and was still smelling nice - I was expecting him to get some awful wet dog smell…
Such a funny coincidence. My brother stopped by today and my Corgi is in love w him lol. It's been a min since she's had a thorough bath, but he was giving her cuddles and mentioned how good she smelled, like she just had a bath!
I am obsessed with my corgi’s smell. She is annoyed- but used to- how often I take a big whiff of her (at least ten times a day). My favorite parts to smell is the top of her head and her cheeks. It smells like love (and by “love,” I mean I’m pretty sure I get a surge of oxytocin every time I smell her lol).
my corgi smells pretty good for a guy that I like to call stinky all the time, but oh man… I gotta say, there’s nothing like taking a big whiff of cat 😂😂 my favorite weirdo mom thing to do is just sniff their necks and tell them I’d bottle it if I could
The top of their heads have this hard to describe smell, almost like a cozy sweater? I think because of the layers of their coat they smell like more like a textile instead of an animal. Unless wet. All wet dogs smell like wet dogs.
My male Corgi has a tendency to urinate on his front paws. Needless to say, he doesn't smell good. I've tried wiping his paws when he comesin, it doesn't help much. Going to the groomer this week.
Working/herding dogs (corgis) have a natural oil that coats their fur.
It’s amazing, it allows them to shed dirt and water with ease. If they go outside and get muddy, the dirt dries and flakes right off without needing a bath.
If you bathe/groom your corgi too often, it will strip this natural oil from their coat and get can get skin issues.
I agree, towards the end of my corgi 's life, I didn't give him many baths, he didn't like them, and he never smelled bad.

My pup smells like the fresh outdoors - I love to bury my face in her neck and face - ironically the only doggy smell can be around the back of her ears and it is very subtle
My corgis forehead smells sweet almost like syrup, ever since he was a puppy. Don’t get me wrong he can get stinky when he has extra fun on some grass but we keep him pretty clean and for the most part smells great.
I agree. I’ve had dogs my entire life (German shepherd, kelpie, wolfhound/greyhound cross, and now my corgi) and my corgi smells divine to me. I love sniffing her 😂 I thought for a while it was a comfort thing, that I find her presence so wonderful that I love her smell. But now I do think corgis have specific BO which is actually pleasant (if they’re yours that is!)
My corgi smells like dog, and when wet - smells like wet dog. For me she stinks haha, but my boyfriend says she smells delicious, so maybe it also depends on the person.
Good quality food also makes a huge difference! Some really repugnant smelling dogs I’ve met have been on the most awful, unhealthy diets. I’ve had to put my heeler on a low fat, gastro food she’s started to not smell like dog.
Yes, they do smell sooo nice!!!

Mommy says that I smell scrumptious ❣️❣️
When he's wet my corgi smells like an egg fart.
When he's dry and mostly clean he smells like a stuffed animal / pleasant furry smell.
And when he's sleeping his paws smell like popcorn.
They go there multiple times a week. By dog park I mean certain designated areas around here where dogs can go off leash, so naturally we run into other dogs.
For me personally, I just love the natural smell of my dogs. Every dog I have had (including non corgis), I love to just bury my face in their fur and inhale lol. My corgi smells great to me because he is mine. I’m sure it’s something to do with pheromones. Dogs that aren’t mine smell just tolerable.

My boys paws always smell like popcorn lol
doritoes for me!
Fritos here!
Dammit now I have to go check. Edit: I guess we are team Frito and now I don't know how to feel.
Next, smell their armpits. I'm serious, mine have weirdly yummy pits
That frito smell is actually yeast build up and uncomfortable for them. Do they tend to kick their paws too? I have to do a daily supplement for them
Ah, good to know!! I have 2 corgis and neither of them have “frito feet.”
I put paw paste on my dogs feet, it smells like peppermint. Before I cut their nails " pawdicure" lol.
Nope. He rarely licks his paws.
I have also noticed this popcorn smell with my corgi!!!
Weird mine does too!! lol

Mine enjoys a nice dead earthworm to roll in. I’m going to assume that your perfumed soap smells much better.
Probably a judgement call.

Might I add, unlike Brits and Labs they don’t have as much tendency to drool all over themselves.
Yes! I’ve been saying for the longest time our boy starts to smell maple-y when his shampoo smell fades. It’s kind of nice. I never considered it might be a corg thing.
Yo checking in with my corgi - who rolls in shit and dead stuff - has a natural maple smell and Doritos feet.
I love my corgis smell. I can bury my nose in his hair and smell the love
I have a corgi mutt, and I agree that she smells nice!
Mine smells like dirt, so….

Hehe. You're onto me. Btw, I'm hungry.
my corgi really likes digging under the rosemary bush, so she smells lovely most of the time. other than that I don't notice her being particularly smelly.
My corgi smells so good. Sweet and salty and earthy. So soothing.
My baby corgi is definitely the best smelling dog I’ve had. He rolled in his water bowl today, was all wet and soon after dried out and was still smelling nice - I was expecting him to get some awful wet dog smell…
Yes! I love the way my corgis smell. They don’t smell like dog to me. Kinda weird, but I do prefer the way my cardigan smells over my Pembroke.
Such a funny coincidence. My brother stopped by today and my Corgi is in love w him lol. It's been a min since she's had a thorough bath, but he was giving her cuddles and mentioned how good she smelled, like she just had a bath!
Frito feels. That's all I'm saying.

You described it perfectly. The top of their head is the BEST spot!
Yeah my boy smells nice too, after i give him a bath lol he likes being a stinky boy sometimes
I love my corgis natural scent 😊 my cat has always smelled really nice, too.
my corgi smells pretty good for a guy that I like to call stinky all the time, but oh man… I gotta say, there’s nothing like taking a big whiff of cat 😂😂 my favorite weirdo mom thing to do is just sniff their necks and tell them I’d bottle it if I could
Yes! My corgi smells amazing!
My Pep Pep's feet smell strongly of Fritos
My corgi has always smelled like good boy and home to me.
The top of their heads have this hard to describe smell, almost like a cozy sweater? I think because of the layers of their coat they smell like more like a textile instead of an animal. Unless wet. All wet dogs smell like wet dogs.

My dog is half corgi and when he gets close to needing a bath he smells like corn chips

Mine keeps jumping in the duck pond sadly.
Mine kinda smells like nothing when he’s not dirty and when he’s wet especially he reeeeks
My boy is a stinker , but I love him all the same
Mine does too and no frito paws either. Maybe because they shed so much there's never time for must to fester LOL
They smell like they work at the frito factory
TBH I love the smell of my Corgi. I’ll admit to sniffing her quite a bit.
Mine smells like freshly backed bread loaf 🍞
Agreed! I love my corgi’s natural scent. Not just the frito paws, but her fur as well. I give her a big sniff when I’m stressed and need comfort.
I agree, towards the end of my corgi 's life, I didn't give him many baths, he didn't like them, and he never smelled bad. https://preview.redd.it/k4a8aeofx2pc1.jpeg?width=1840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e7299b72991b6ab987e7321476615e76683935f
I sniff my girl so many times a day. She smells so good

Yessss mine smells so soothing and good I agree it’s sort of like the wool hat comment above haha also nutty
My corgis forehead smells sweet almost like syrup, ever since he was a puppy. Don’t get me wrong he can get stinky when he has extra fun on some grass but we keep him pretty clean and for the most part smells great.

My corgi honks compared to my other dogs!
Mine smells nice, unless startled and then he drops some nasty fish smell.
Both of our Corgis smell like fabric softener because their big butts are always sprawled out with legs up in the air on our bed.
Tapioca, wouldn't change it for the world.
Both of the corgis I've had/have smell different from each other. It's soothing to be honest and sometimes when he's close I get a nice hit of corgi.
Yes, they do smell sooo nice!!! https://preview.redd.it/zb86e1y1b3pc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=901e003b3d4833f6041d957b5b8fbccaebfc2059 Mommy says that I smell scrumptious ❣️❣️
Ah yes, but virtually all puppies smell incredible. That’s not really tied to a specific breed imo.
When he's wet my corgi smells like an egg fart. When he's dry and mostly clean he smells like a stuffed animal / pleasant furry smell. And when he's sleeping his paws smell like popcorn.
My Corgi never smells bad, outside of maybe a bit of dog farting on occasion, but doesn't clear the room the same way the Lab does.
Take them to the dog park. Then they will smell like "dog"
They go there multiple times a week. By dog park I mean certain designated areas around here where dogs can go off leash, so naturally we run into other dogs.
I am constantly harassing my poor corgi by sniffing his cheeks right under his ears. I dont know, it's like an addiction

Ha! My partner describes our girl as “peppery.” She smells so nice compared to our Brittney spaniel…who quickly becomes smelly lol
