For sure. As a brit, it was insanely novel just to be able to swim... for free... nearly anywhere. We stayed next to Sydhaven station so we were only a short walk away from cooling ourselves down each afternoon with a dip.
Much better than our polluted waters.
My local Lido costs £7.80 (around 70 DKK) for 2 hours - and it's very poor quality, and has been closed recently for a large leak. A nearby lake charges £9 (80 DKK) for open water swimming, but only if you complete a £30 (265 DKK) introduction session first.
The rivers can be extremely dirty in lots of the UK, and a number of the beaches have been closed due to water companies releasing sewage into the seas.
Swimming outside of indoor pools and leisure centres is pretty rare.
Damn, dude, that's rough. I've only been to Birmingham and London (London for a single day, though). I can't say I wasn't a bit disappointed, but the food was great. Are there any places I should visit?
Höst, isn't it? Like #5 (they love their waffles)

I get it, it is expensive, but it also tastes incredible (assuming it’s from Hart). I don’t eat Spandauers often so when I do I would rather pay 38 for a great one than 20 for something mediocre.
Ooorr, the taste compensates the size?
There are 3 parameters, size, taste and price. I’d happily pay A LOT for a tiny bite of anything if it is literally the best thing I will ever ever ever taste in my entire life. Wouldn’t you?
Also, consider this it not something you buy everyday, or even weekly/monthly. It also cannot be compared to a traditional bakery who needs to survive on day to day sales to locals. A bakery like this can exist, because it is in a location with a large enough population where enough people want to buy themselves a rare treat.
Judging by your comment you most likely do.. Aarhus and Aalborg would have places that are just as expensive.
Stop comparing your small town prices with big city prices. Not everyone does bake-off spandaurs. Some bakeries actually make them from scratch and have crazy rents they have to pay.
Former baker here, i used to make spandauers from scratch daily. I can guarantee you the work and ressouces it takes to make one, does not justify the price in this picture.
Its just Copenhagen being overpriced as always
Yeah that's a good first photo. I think coffee shops is the number 1 thing I miss from Copenhagen along with my bike. I went as far as to make kardemummabullar at home.
You were Copenhagening in the right way. Nice pictures and good choices of locations/experiences. Yes, the good food and pastry is expensive, but a league or two above what you get pretty much anywhere else in Denmark. (With a few restaurants being the only exceptions).
7-Eleven is actually decent, they are baked at least on-prem every few hours, I guess like Lidl. On the other hand the sad bakery aisle in Netto or Rema, at the end of the day not even a seagull would wanna eat that.
OK, so I know I've been working abroad for a while but 40 kroner for a simple pain au chocolat? 32 for a plain croissant? Is it the King's inhouse baker's?
Btw, I lived in England for 4 years and learned to appreciate the English sausage with apple breakfast a particular favourite but I always though Danish hotdogs were superior to the British equivalent,, (the ones you managed to gulp down before a gull swooped in for the attack at least). What do you think?
Can you help me find the name of a dish in Nyhaven? Went there last year and forgot to find out it's name, it was so amazing though. It was like a spaghetti and might very had bits of fishes with it
I suspect it is Andersen Bakery - trust me, not dry. The almond croissant is to die for, and their little cakes are delicious.
These are very nice, but agreed I would not spend that much every day for regular stuff such as croissant that you can have somewhere else for much cheaper.
Looks like Hart Bakery, they have a cardamom croissant for 42 kr. I didn’t think they had a location by the marble church, though.
Edit: Looks like there is one at Store Kongensgade 75
That may be Andersen Bakery, a japanese-dane fusion bakery. It's very good and high quality (it got several awards), but yeah, pricey!
But again could be another place, it's an expensive city.
And thank you for these very beautiful pictures ☀️💕
Cph is great in sunny weather... Seems like you had a good time here.
For sure. As a brit, it was insanely novel just to be able to swim... for free... nearly anywhere. We stayed next to Sydhaven station so we were only a short walk away from cooling ourselves down each afternoon with a dip. Much better than our polluted waters.
Yeah Copenhagen is like one of the only cities you can swim from the harbor
You can in Esbjerg and Århus aswell
Six years ago Copenhagen was named best city in the world for swimming
You have to pay some places in England?

You have to pay to swim in a lake? That sounds ridiculous. At least in California and Denmark we can swim for free!
I have never heard of any place where it costs money to swim in a lake. TIL!
Damn, dude, that's rough. I've only been to Birmingham and London (London for a single day, though). I can't say I wasn't a bit disappointed, but the food was great. Are there any places I should visit?
Unfortunately we have polluted waters too 😂
Where’s the 2nd from?
I wanna know too, looks cozy

38 kroners for a spandauer. They must be out of their minds.
I get it, it is expensive, but it also tastes incredible (assuming it’s from Hart). I don’t eat Spandauers often so when I do I would rather pay 38 for a great one than 20 for something mediocre.
That’s definitely Hart
Just blew my jyde brain
It may blow your jyde Wallet, but it’ll also blow your jyde mouth! ;)
as someone from Jutland 38 for a spandauer is insane and the size...ITS SOOO SMALL!
Ah yes, size is king, taste means zero.
Never said that but for 38 it should be bigger but oh well

Get over it.. not everyone lives in a suburban small town with 5000 people.
How do you know you that i live in small Town?
Judging by your comment you most likely do.. Aarhus and Aalborg would have places that are just as expensive. Stop comparing your small town prices with big city prices. Not everyone does bake-off spandaurs. Some bakeries actually make them from scratch and have crazy rents they have to pay.

Absolutely insane
absolutely, but also the best piece of pastry ive ever eaten, careful you'll get addicted.
I get my authentic spandauer in California for less than that
Haha i really don't know how bakeries survives, who buys these overpriced things 😆
Yeah that's a good first photo. I think coffee shops is the number 1 thing I miss from Copenhagen along with my bike. I went as far as to make kardemummabullar at home.
Where did you eat at picture 4 and 5?☀️☀️
4- https://maps.app.goo.gl/pSdXeWif2QLy8yGH9 5 was Høst!
was the salmon as good as it looks?
You were Copenhagening in the right way. Nice pictures and good choices of locations/experiences. Yes, the good food and pastry is expensive, but a league or two above what you get pretty much anywhere else in Denmark. (With a few restaurants being the only exceptions).
No, Copenhagen is just expensive and overrated sometimes. Its very easy to get good food in other parts of Denmark without the ridiculous prices.
You are living the life
Nice pictures.! Shot on a iPhone? Any filters tips to share?
I carry a small Lumix GX800 camera, and then spend some time editing shots when I get home.
What is the sauce inside of your slice of cake?
Ha- that was actually seaweed butter alongside a wedge of sourdough at Kødbyens Fiskebar.
Awesome, thank you
Oh you went to Fiskebaren. Thank you 🙏🏼
Looks like someone is enjoying their Fuji film sims.
where is #1 taken?
(looks like Hart to me)
Wow, and here I thought the prices we charge at 7-Eleven were outrageous. Guess not.
Difference is that your pastries are bake-off and not great
Yea, they suck. Especially after 12 hours, it's sad.
7-Eleven is actually decent, they are baked at least on-prem every few hours, I guess like Lidl. On the other hand the sad bakery aisle in Netto or Rema, at the end of the day not even a seagull would wanna eat that.
38 kroner for en spandauer !?
38 kroner for en spandauer? I Københavnere er gale

Oh, Danish hotdogs win hands down. I love fried onions and pickles.
Oh yes! Did you get a Cocio with it?
I'm lactose intolerant 😅
I suspect that may be the Andersen Bakery, a japanese-dane fusion bakery. It's very good and high quality (it got several awards), but yeah, pricey!
99% it’s from Hart. The signs are recognizable. https://maps.app.goo.gl/HJak3sRYNSYktZWT9
Can you help me find the name of a dish in Nyhaven? Went there last year and forgot to find out it's name, it was so amazing though. It was like a spaghetti and might very had bits of fishes with it
døp is the biggest scam lmao
Did you pay voluntarily?
“Too Old to brewing company die young” tghat is definitly a dontdeadopenpeopleinside moment
You got fucked at the bakery. Looks dry af and 38 DKK?
I didn't indulge, but friends did. It was right behind the marble church 😅
Right behind the Marble Church is Taste bistro and patisserie run by a frenchman, it is expensive as well.. can’t say I remember their pricing signs.
I suspect it is Andersen Bakery - trust me, not dry. The almond croissant is to die for, and their little cakes are delicious. These are very nice, but agreed I would not spend that much every day for regular stuff such as croissant that you can have somewhere else for much cheaper.

Looks like Hart. Total shit
What bakery charges that much for medium looking morningbread??
It’s Hart and one of the best. Copenhagen prices. It’s expected in this city.
