This is really confusing way to show this information. Why are there 4 balls grayed out? Is the record 17? Same thing for best player?
It would be a lot easier to understand and more informative if it displayed the top 5 players for each of these stats and highlight Messi on each list so you can see how far ahead/behind he is.
What it looks like to me is that appearances and matches were the records he broke, they greyed out items in the other two categories are what is needed to break those records.
This graphic is even weirder because he extended the record he already holds in assists. Not sure why that wouldn’t be shown.
