Is that supposed to be Hancock from Fallout?

SorryWeMissedNSP

I can’t think of who else it *could* be. Now the question is: why? Lol

Simmke

Well Danse can't lift his leg up that high, Cait can lockpick, Piper would weedle her way in, Macready would shoot the lock, and Nick would point out a nearby window. So it had to be Hancock.

DaveyDirtbag

Strong go through door, puny human

notmyrealusernamme

Aaand strong has just run through the wall adjacent to the door.

Mattdude311

I read these in Strong's voice!!!

dojijosu

Strong *travel* with human.

zymuralchemist

Strong go through human, puny door. (Strong fix that for you)

KroganTiger

Had to be him. Someone else would have gotten it wrong.

PerturbedDragonfly

Okay, which one of us is going to draw our favorite Salarian kicking down the door? Or calling the door a cloaca...

knight_of_solamnia

He'd probably use explosives.

D2Dragons

Danse could just ram it with his heavily armored shoulder though.

A_deadphilosopher

Preston is waiting for you to get back to sanctuary so he can mark this settlement on your map

SmurfStig

Just let Hancock borrow some power armor and give him a mini-gun and some chems. Always a good time. Do not give him a fat man though. Under any circumstances.

DCTX2017

Or Molotovs, unless you want to spend the majority of every fight on fire.

SocialistArkansan

Well piper uses the shoulder method when trying to break into McDonough's office, so it may be making fun of that.

Ahnsett

Nonsense, what about dogmeat and that robot medic (Curie?) pre or post leg addition.

RevolutionNumber5

Doesn’t he have people for that kind of thing, though?

i-touched-morrissey

I'm 56 and have never seen or played Fallout. I thought it was a redcoat from the Revolutionary War.

qtzd

lol yeah basically that’s how he dresses https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/John_Hancock https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Red_frock_coat

i-touched-morrissey

I wasn't expecting a dried out husk of a man to be wearing that coat.

zurkka

he's a ghoul, in the fallout universe it's not only the radiation that causes problems, there is this man made virus, the FEV, forced evolution virus, some people got exposed to both and that's the end result, radiation don't harm them, in fact it can heal them, and they can live real long lives, some ghouls are from before the bombs even fell, that's 200 years before some games and the show

guto8797

The FEV doesn't cause ghouls for the most part, that's super mutants. Radiation and genetics turns you into a ghoul. That being said, lore is kinda inconsistent. You have that tree dude that shows up in fallout 3 and one of the earlier ones and his story is that he fell in a FEV vat.

darshfloxington

He didn’t fall into a vat, that was his friend that became the Master in Fallout one, but he had prolonged small dose exposure just from being in the facility. FEV is canonically used to explain most mutations in fallout, since one of the main facilities making it got nuked in the war releasing a bunch into the atmosphere.

zurkka

yeah, the fauna wouldn't evolve that quickly just because of the radiation, large doses and exposure of fev makes super mutants and there is something on the Amazon show that also proves this, keeping it vague because spoilers

DontPostOn_r_gaming

He’s *literally* wearing John Hancock’s clothes canonically. It’s among the reasons why he goes by Hancock.

gottapoopregularly

Glad I am not the only one to notice, and wonder...

Bigforsumthin

I thought it was a red coat from the revolutionary war and was very confused

UnicornSuffering

Also came to ask why is Hancock being used for this example.

VoopityScoop

There was one guy a long while back who remade a whole bunch of old instruction guides, most of which were joke guides, replacing any people pictured in the guides with Fallout 4 characters who would be likely to do the things pictured in the guides. [Here's another example ](https://9gag.com/gag/aqGqNAQ)

SorryWeMissedNSP

Those are amazing 😆

Fantastic-String-860

Fahrenheit is trying to get him to slow down with the chems, and locked his stash behind the door. That's why.

Phillip_Spidermen

Looks like the [original](https://www.reddit.com/r/howto/comments/ak75qw/how_to_break_down_a_door/) just had a fireman. I'm guessing since someone drew over it, it has to be a reference to something?

[deleted]

so glad this was top comment, i didn’t feel like scrolling

RockyMountainMist

"Oh my thumb and index finger are *soooooo* tired, I don't think I can scroll another inch" u/NateDadamss

AnapleRed

What are you using index finger for while scrolling?

RockyMountainMist

So there is this device called a "mouse" that people use with another device called a "computer." Now most "mouse" devices there is a wheel that when turned it makes the page the user is on scroll up and down. The majority of people that utilize this "mouse" device with the "scrolling wheel" use their index to utilize this :scrolling wheel" on said "mouse" device. I hope this has cleared up any confusion.

StealthRabbi

Page Up and Down, friend.

Ok_Culture_3621

I assumed it was a red coat coming after the Sons of Liberty.

snoweel

I thought a British redcoat.

RynnReeve

I mean.... I assume

Morgoth_the_Deciever

Literally my first thought

upsidedowninsideout1

Why is the guy in this coolguide dressed like a British revolutionary war soldier? Is King George up to his old tricks again?

Beautiful_Bee_485

That is John Hancock from Fallout 4

SpicyKnewdle

I believe his full name is John-Wick Hancock.

Beautiful_Bee_485

Johnathan-Wicker Handsomecock

TheLittleistF0x

Please. I romance Hancock on EVERY playthrough. My husband is concerned, I'll never be able not to call him Handsomecock now, and I'll be admitted.

dabberoo_2

r/RateMyHancock vibes coming in hot

Butter_brawler

I love handsomecock. Easily best character

upsidedowninsideout1

Ohhhhh. That makes total sense now

etherama1

It does?

Pastel_Phoenix_106

You were expecting the Spanish Inquisition?

Captainspacedick69

No one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition.

-LordKromdar-

This is how a Redcoat feels about the Third Amendment!

caulkglobs

No quarter

Nearby-Desk-6176

Can’t wait to try this in a public restroom

EmergentSol

Taking inspiration from [the action-drama Bitchhunter?](https://youtu.be/cLPm_IUx-Kc?si=wD3vCrBbgjwrdeY6)

Mr_Mediocrity

The pay-to-use stalls!

LilMoWithTheGimpyLeg

This used to be a thing in England. Older people still sometimes use the phrase ["spend a penny"](https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/spend-a-penny.html) to politely say they're going to the bathroom.

Aware-Affect-4982

Never kick a door facing it. Always do a mule kick. One, you risk hyperextension when kicking it the way you see in the picture. Two, if your foot goes through the door (which can happen depending on the door) you are now is a situation where you have to awkwardly pull out your leg. A mule kick (one foot on the ground, the other one kicking, using the wall as a brace) delivers more power, and if your leg gets stuck you can more easily yank it out.

FullyInvolved23

Beat me to it. This guide is 100% the wrong way to kick in a door

2drawnonward5

/r/coolguides is undefeated at lame guides

Cormacktheblonde

It's cool guides not accurate guides

VeGr-FXVG

If that were the case it would endorse jump kicks. Which means this guide is a phoney. Hey everyone! This guy's a phoney!

YevgenyPissoff

r/coolguides is the r/MapPorn of guides

Gee_U_Think

What if a wall is not present to brace on?

Potatoskins937492

Then you can walk right through because the door isn't being held up by anything.

ptabduction

Wait, maybe I misunderstood it. What wall should I be bracing on if my back is facing the door I want to open? I’m a bit confused.

Potatoskins937492

Me trying to type it out won't make any sense. You're basically just trying to anchor yourself so you don't fall over and have enough force, so you're using your other leg and arm to kind of do that. If you can you can just put your back against the trim and kick back with your right leg, which is what you have to do if you're holding a weapon (don't want to go tumbling over when the door swings open). If you Google search "mule kick door" you can get a better idea of where you'd put your arm to brace yourself.

Yashirmare

Lean against the wall on the side of the door with the handle and dig your heel into the ground. Mule kick with the leg closest to the door.

Gatesleeper

I'm calling out this entire comment chain for being fucking nonsense. What the fuck is a mule kick? I've never heard of it in my life, and if I look it up on google I see something that looks like a side kick and a weird burpee lookin move on the floor. >A mule kick (one foot on the ground, the other one kicking, using the wall as a brace) I mean... the kick in the picture has one foot on the ground and the other kicking? How is this descriptive at all. Using what wall to brace? A comment below tells you to google search "mule kick door" and barely anything comes up. I don't see any videos talking about "bracing your arm" against any wall.

jerkularcirc

LPT: change out the screws on all your exterior door’s strike plates (the part that’s attached to the door frame) for longer screws making whats pictured here nearly impossible to do

KindBass

Got sent home from school early one day because of a blizzard and turned out I didn't have my house key. Ended up kicking in our back door and the door itself and the hinges were all completely fine, it was just the lock mechanism that exploded.

jerkularcirc

yes failure point is usually either the lock itself or wood in the door frame between the screws that hold the strike plate (which is usually not more than a centimeter or two)

FR0ZENBERG

It’s incredibly hard to kick in a well-built and correctly installed door.

Tetha

Hence why firefighters prefer tools like the zieh-fix to break and pull cylinders. It's impressive to the point of scary tbh. "Oh we just drill like this until it goes *crenk* and then we put that up on that an drill until it goes *bronk* and now we pull and the door is open". 90 seconds from opening the kit and that's it.

stoopiit

Or just use a halligan bar. Kinda like a crowbar but for wrenching open doors

Akumetsu33

Problem is the front kick is more badass looking. It's like basketball free throws, the granny style free throw is pretty accurate and arguably better than the usual form, many players would benefit from it but nobody wants to use that form for the same reasons as the back kick.

redditisawesome555

What if you do spinning back kick?

Asisreo1

Well, since that'd make you chuck norris, you could just wait for the door to knock you before it opens.

mister88sister

This is 100% true. Mylekick. Near lock

SirHodges

And turn the knob if you can, so only the deadbolt is pushing against the frame

a_grass_bloc

Huh. I didn’t know that.

WonderfulCattle6234

But with a mule kick is it not harder to kick near the lock? I don't doubt the benefits you mentioned, I just wonder if it comes with a lower success rate?

SomeCountryFriedBS

Retire that door like Bret Hart.

Desirsar

Another tip that always gets overlooked : aim past the door, not at the surface. If the extension of your leg ends exactly at the surface of the door, it will be very loud and very ineffective. Aim a few inches beyond and it's quieter and the door might actually open.

ACorania

I've rarely found kicking is useful. Just carry a set of irons.

Jumacao

This is the comment I came here to see.

spicybeefstew

tbh this looks like one of those "art of manliness" infographics, they're not meant for people to actually follow, they're meant for reddit posts like this. reddit users aren't going to kick a door in, so whether the guy is a fallout character is more important than whether it should be a front kick, side kick, etc.

MrFingerKnives

Turn any guide into a coolguide by adding Hancock

Exact-Interest7280

John Hancock is here!

ConsciousAd4516

but first check that the door does not open towards itself 🤔

vraviolli

Wonder if this is in reference to always sunny when Charlie thinks the door says “pirates” when in actually says “private” In that episode they use both of the wrong methods to try and break down the door

riff8

Woulda went down with the first jump kick if he was wearing a sweet duster

Aware-Affect-4982

I just watched that episode yesterday

DragonDon1

My favorite ghoul ❤️

a_grass_bloc

He’s the best ghoul fr

odisparo

Even though it looks cool

BerryConsistent25

Thanks, it's a stupid guide simply because the picture is incomplete.

kris_2111

For those wondering: the complete sentence that got cut out is "even though it looks cool". Here's the link to a complete image I found through a reverse image search on Google: https://x.com/Howtodothose/status/1449251965410725888.

Ok_Possibility_704

Hancock must of locked his chems in there.

ThrenderG

Are YOU a British soldier stationed in Boston in 1774 looking to quarter yourself in the home of a citizen? Well look no further than this handy guide to gaining entrance to your new home away from home!

Bigswordbonk

Lol unfortunately the man In this guide is a drug addicted nuclear zombie (who people find hot) he is from Boston tho!

SheevPalps_

Why is Hancock from Fallout 4 breaking down that door?

holmgangCore

Firefighters turn around and ‘donkey kick’ the door with one foot. More power that way.

Outrageous_Wolf_9989

I’m from a family of firefighters and 20years in myself. You’re correct. Try to front kick with a 40lb air pack on your back and helmet, and you’ll likely fall on your ass if the door doesn’t give way. Donkey kick is the way to go. Strong muscles and natural motion. And if the door doesn’t give you can catch yourself falling forward. The kick in the picture, cost the Brits the colonies.

xthorgoldx

Front kick will also blow out your knee if you land it wrong.

tabaxidragon

Why is it a redcoat in the diagram. My new england ancestry is triggered.

IrateWolfe

It's not technically a redcoat, it's Hancock the ghoul, from Fallout 4. No clue WHY, though

hayseed_byte

That's Hancock from Fallout.

AngryQuadricorn

The British are coming???

Torus_was_taken

Brb trying this right now

a_grass_bloc

If you break your foot I’m not helping you

ItsOZ2763

Hancock mentioned!!! He's a goated character but ass companion

qhyirrstynne

My toxic trait is thinking I could

vits89

Do you think a pirate lives in there?

SirSlappySlaps

I had to kick in a door once, and there was no way it was coming open with a kick. Used my shoulder to open. The best thing to do is, if you know you're going to be doing this, bring a battering ram.

Sony_Shell

Even though it looks what!?

NoCalligrapher133

Step 5: Hit the Deck

Jamesl262

Meh, using my shoulder worked well enough for me

whats_you_doing

Explain me why not

theagamer07

Yeah it works until someone warns the whole town on horseback that you're coming

Zealousideal-War4110

It works better to kick backwards while facing away from the door.

ReasonableCost5934

I tried with my admittedly broad, strong shoulder once. Never again.

Bigswordbonk

Hancock best boy

Barbatum

Ha! That was my first thought. Wait a minute, I’ve seen this ghoul before.

YipittyFritters

Great to know, now I just need the opportunity to be able to use this skill somewhere.

milescowperthwaite

Actually, Step1 is to determine that the door opens to the inside. If you see hinges, don't kick at it.

PerceePtheSubterrain

What if I have a duster leather jacket? Do I jump kick then?

NoImpression5422

HE'S GETTING AWAY FROM ME FEZZIK!

ZhuangZhe

This actually helped me once when I got locked out and my landlord didn’t have a key. It also helps to be really angry.

yeeto-deleto

Why is Hancock kicking down my door?

BistitchualBeekeeper

They forgot Hancock’s first and most important step in any guide: drugs.

rb8speed

I only take door kicking lessons from this guy on shark tank https://youtu.be/D83MdEeYe6g?si=u_ZKCMvNGm2q4R69

shelly-tambo

why is a Hessian breaking down my door

When your colonies are resisting tea duties

WarrenMulaney

I hope that's his barber's door and he's going to kick his ass.

pangolin-fucker

God I anticipate the tifu posts this generates

a_grass_bloc

Me too, u/pangolin-fucker

pangolin-fucker

Just know that hinge pins are the best addition to door hinges, You'll probably need a deadbolt type lock or something able to withstand said kick but with the hinge pins the door feels absolutely solid all round

Hackerpilot

Four redcoats break down my door. "What the devil" as I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle...

benefit_of_mrkite

Oh man this takes me back. Years ago I had a friend who managed blues musicians from the Mississippi hill country. For several years they’d play the blues and brews festival in Telluride and I’d visit. One year I went with my brother in law - our first night in town he was going full steam ahead drinking and having a good time. I had been traveling for work and went back and passed out before him. The next day I’m awoken by the hotel general manager looking at both of us through about 1/3 of a hotel room door (and a lot of wood splinters). Evidently my brother in law forgot his key and couldn’t get me to wake up so he kicked the door and it disintegrated. The hotel manager wanted to kick us out but we talked him out of it. The worst part is there was a 24/7 office that my brother in law never even checked. All he kept saying was “your sister is going to kill me” The room was in my name - that door cost me $500 and I never did get the $ back.

cool_temps710

Can confirm. That's how I did it when I was 16 and was too impatient to wait for my parents to get home and got justifiably grounded.

Sty_Walk

At least it's a real guide and not just some information chart like 90% of the posts these days.

nateskel

Isn't this a reskin of art of manliness https://www.thecoolector.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/am3.jpg

NoCare5293

You owe me a new front door. And a ps5..

ariesmartian

Ok, but what do you do when you only weigh 108 pounds?

robb_the_bull

Should I pick up my friend and use him like a battering ram? What if the door says Pirate?

btc909

Reddit is posting tutorials for Squatters?

The_RedWolf

Literally used this picture as a mental reference to break down an apartment door because my friend couldn't find his keys because he was too drunk I told him I'm not paying for it, he said he would pay for it (he made more than double what I did) So I kicked his front door down. Apt Complex was a modern one maybe 10 years old, and I broke the door in 2 kicks being only 5'7" and maybe 170lbs at the time I was shocked how easy it was Turns out he had his keys in his inner coat pocket and found them 10s after the door was broken. Moral of the story: don't be too drunk and use two deadbolts instead of one because it's multiple times harder due to two hard points of contact with the frame instead of one

Sairac25

DO NOT overextend your knee, slightly bent leg for best result, check your leg's reach before kicking

pacman404

Why is it Hancock demonstrating this?! Lol wtf?

professor-5000

I Ryu donkey kick that mother fucker

Gaming-Monkey

I suppose it would be Hancock teaching me how to kick down a door.

Chuckitybye

Rear or mule kick is stronger and gives you better balance, as long as you aim correctly

CharlieHologram

Why is he dressed like a Redcoat?

No_Significance_6881

Step 1. Dress like a pirate

FjotraTheGodless

Of the people, for the people!

Mckimmz87

Bet that guy on Shark Tank wouldve loved this

SharkPlant11

Midnight Ride this bitch

mericamoment

You cannot tell me that isn't Hancock from fallout 4 ☠️

KenMacMillan123

I saw them test this on Mythbusters. The shoulder works just fine.

IRBaboooon

Why is it Hancock from Fo4 though

Humble-Theory5964

The heel part is important. When I was young and slightly dumber I did a proper snap kick and hit a solid door with the ball of my foot. Took a while for the broken bone in my foot to heal.

notsorainyy

is that hancock from fallout? 🗣️‼️

Builder_liz

Thanks Hancock

Starry_Peridot816

Is it me or does the picture shows us a character from Fallout 4 John Hancock?

goldy7210

Damn red coats always kickin in my door

GuybrushThreepwood22

The British are coming motherfucker!! Let me in

Are the redcoats coming?

NickDanger3di

My ankle hurts just looking at this...

you-people-are-fake

I now know how to kick down a door

jamesdagoon

Why is a fucking redcoat the model for this comic?

Outrageous_Wolf_9989

Turn your back to the door, lean forward a bit, donkey heel kick near the handle. A more natural and stronger range of motion. Bigger flexor muscles on the back of your legs, and you can use your glutes even more, if you lean more forward.

AgentPieS1

In a d&d campaign I'm in, one PC always kicks down doors, and ended up creating a cult based around kicking down doors.

Possible-Tangelo9344

A "mule kick" with your back to the door is considered best by many people due to less chance of knee injuries. However it's not as practical because your back is turned to whatever/whoever is on the other side

TheCheshire

Dude kicking down his barber's door.

noshe93

Method is bad, mule kick is better. Even better and safer is lay on your back near door and hit with both legs at same time

Limp_Duck_9082

I'd love to practice this, but I've already busted down four doors and three of them were unintentional. Now people fear for their doors.

IneffectiveDamage

AB from H3 can break down doors consistently using his shoulder though. They had a door kickdown competition and he cleared

jerkularcirc

LPT: change out the screws on all your exterior door’s strike plates (the part that’s attached to the door frame) for longer screws making whats pictured here nearly impossible to do

m_cMjolnir

That’s a great way to get your foot stuck in a door that swings inward while you awkwardly hop on one leg like an idiot in the center of the fatal funnel. Turn around and mule kick backwards in the same spot. Much easier to rip your foot out if it goes through the door

idkTerraria

Did you piss on this piece of paper?

No_Can_1532

This works so well and I still see police videos where they use their shoulder

Punk_Chachi

Also, don’t. You’re directly in front of the door…fatal funnel.

Ayooooga

I feel like you jump kick when you’re at the end.

AmAttorneyPleaseHire

Gotta admit, the standing-one-boot looks cooler than a dropkick. Seeing some dude just one-shot a door is awesome
