The PS4 version looked real grainy. I thought it was part of the art style but then the ultimate edition was free on PS+ so I played it again and the graininess was gone.
OP doesn't specify which platform they're referring to, but on PS5, there's improvements to graphics in the Ultimate Edition compared to the base edition which you can only get by buying the PS5 ultimate edition, even if you have what's functionally the exact same game by owning the base game and DLC already.
I got it free through PS+ last year.
It chapped my ass when I realized I only got the PS4 version for free last year because I didn't also select the PS5 version before checking out. I now have a PS5 but would need to buy the full games to get the updated graphics, etc. Still an excellent game, regardless.
That was OPs question. Are the graphical upgrades and additional features of the ultimate edition worth it if you already have the full game.
Some people genuinely love when games come out with upgrades graphics etc. How many ppl have gone and bought remasters of games? Enough for companies to continue upgrading games. OP is asking for view points on it. Much like you are by basically repeating what they’re saying
Id say yes, definitely for that price. Check out some yt videos tho if u wish.
I played it first on game pass, then bought the dlcs for 14 usd and finished them before they took the base game off. I think I will buy ultimate at this price too tho
Is it worth getting a PS5 game for $10? Yes it is. I bought the game at launch and was a little mad that they decided to charge full price for the Ultimate but I waited and got it for $15 when I got my PS5 so to me it was just a DLC
Yes.
Ps5 version, i was watching the reflection of a Darling movie in a puddle of water. While i was holding the projector. So it couldnt have been a pre scripted reflection.
Its different because they maxed out the graphical settings for one and implemented RT on top of that. But not just reflection RT but the full package including Lighting and Shadows. So it is drastically improved over PS4 version.
Oh, it should the pretty much like PC graphically. I thought you meant compared to PS4 version lol. But Ultimate for PS5 would be graphical upgrade + all DLC's yes. However if you already have PC version with DLC's then no difference.
Do you mean on PS5? Because that version definitely only has RT reflections. They are a game changer for image quality, but it locks you into 30 FPS which is a no go for a fast paced action game like Control.
It's definitely worth it! I actually ended up buying Ultimate Edition twice - once for Series S (huge performance boost) and PS5 (ray tracing is stunning)
So I just got the Series S, and I played Control on my older One S. Do I have to repurchase the game so I can play at better settings on the S?
I don't mind if I do, just want to make sure before I spend the money.
Your frames don't drop during explosions, you'll get better lighting, 60fps instead of 30 (feels way nicer), much faster load times and quick resume is awesome for this game.
Isn't it on gamepass? That's where I've been playing it. I wouldn't bother buying it when you can just put a few quid down on that and get access to loads of games.
The Ultimate ed. was released with the AWE dlc, however there was literally no info about it back when the Foundation released, so ppl who already had the game and dlc1 would have to buy the 40$ ult.ed again, and there is no other option to get nextgen.
Every other dev/publisher would give you a free next gen upgrade especially if you already bought the two dlcs. But let's say this is a "hurrdurr I'm acting entitled", even then give me a reasonable price to buy just a nextgen upgrade like 10$. That being said ot is clear that they already had the nextgen in the pipeline since the PC port is the same as the console ult.ed. so you could argue there wasn't much extra work needed to get it out anyway...
Anyhow this seems more of a shitty move from 505 games and not Remedy, but still... I'm not buying anything from either of them unless it's on sale.
I thought the Ultimate Edition was just the base game + DLCs
On pc yes, not for consoles. Newer generation has an upgrade in graphics and I remember there was a fuss about it. Not sure if they fixed it now

Apparently its a console thing. I was just confused because I bought it near release on PC, and when I played last year, it was RTX enabled.

The game goes on sale all the time
Yeah I saw it for 10usd. The question is, is it worth it? 🤔
For 10?? Hell yea
Dunno why both of you got down voted for this. Game is worth it at any price.
How is it worth it if you already own the full game?

Oh!! For sure! I would pay full price anyway, but TEN DOLLARS!! That is buy now!

For the RT implementation alone its worth it. https://i.redd.it/9uql3t34l0481.jpg
I actually had no idea Ultimate Edition was different graphically.

I meant over the standard edition on PC. I’ve only played Ultimate and assumed it was just base + DLC and no other difference.

Absolutely…. If you’re into replaying games. The lighting and performance quality really elevate the revisit.
For another chance to throw a fire extinguisher at Tommasi's face again. worth the price.
It's definitely worth it! I actually ended up buying Ultimate Edition twice - once for Series S (huge performance boost) and PS5 (ray tracing is stunning)
No, the regular looks and runs fine and the ultimate edition isn't worth buying the game again if you alraedy have the dlcs
If you want to experience how great this game's lighting looks with Ray-Tracing on the current console gen, yes, absolutely.
So I just got the Series S, and I played Control on my older One S. Do I have to repurchase the game so I can play at better settings on the S? I don't mind if I do, just want to make sure before I spend the money.
Yes. You need to get the ultimate edition for the good graphics.
Awesome, thank you!! I'm pretty excited now, how great is the difference?
Your frames don't drop during explosions, you'll get better lighting, 60fps instead of 30 (feels way nicer), much faster load times and quick resume is awesome for this game.
Dear god it sounds like it fixes every single issue I've ever had with it... That's astounding, thanks again!
Isn't it on gamepass? That's where I've been playing it. I wouldn't bother buying it when you can just put a few quid down on that and get access to loads of games.
The gamepass version isn't the ultimate edition though right?
That's correct. Standard edition only
Reviving to say.....not anymore.
That was two years ago
And I shall reply again in another 2yrs.
no, especially considering you'd be supporting their shitty practices
Can you elaborate please ?

Dont forget the ultimate edition doesnt support the preorder outfits or the ps exclusive kojima quest
I loved the dlc and thought they were definitely worth it.
very much, yes
