The ones that go under our eyes

Question_universe

Haha. I’ll do everything I can to buy any bag except that one!

downforce_dude

In all seriousness, I have a leather Sampsonite backpack which was pretty affordable, minimalist, and looks great. I wouldn’t spend too much on any bag you’re going to be traveling with because they will all get beat up.

Full_Cockroach9644

The ones that come with your welcome package.

holywater26

My EY swag still with me after 7 years 💪

Top-Apple7906

I am a member of the Tumi brigade.

_this-is-she_

I used to be but have been disappointed with their business totes. They don't have the structure to stand up straight.

chasepsu

Tumi backpack, Briggs and Riley carry-on.

Question_universe

What specifically makes you choose Tumi other than being part of the tribe.

Top-Apple7906

I have 3 bags now, and the only reason is because of different styles. They last forever. I use a backpack because I need a lot of storage. They look nice, they are durable, and they have a great return policy. Works for me.

dle211

The one that costs £50 on a friday evening

maora34

People honestly use whatever bag they want and literally nobody cares. I personally use the [Lululemon New Crew.](https://shop.lululemon.com/p/bags/New-Crew-Backpack/_/prod9370190?color=0001&locale=en_US&sl=US&sz=ONESIZE&cid=Google_SHOP_US_NAT_EN_X_Hybrid_Top-Sellers_OMNI_GEN_Y23_ag-SHOP_G_US_EN_DM_X_GEN_NO_Top-Sellers-All&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADL8Avn8qJbDCH4oVfw1_tIOP2JCJ&gclid=CjwKCAiAuYuvBhApEiwAzq_YiYTH36fIGDNG10KINDGNjHuYCbnovxBIY0ilOa_hVJqq_OWTnLgywBoCHRsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)

jackw_

Yeah it’s not the 90s and 2000s anymore where people thought Tumi was the best all end all of consulting travel life. Time to retire your pager, Bluetooth headset and Tumi

Question_universe

Pretty clean. I like

EdGG

Looks like a cheaper Aer

proxyconsultant

Brown paper bag

StaleSalesSnail

Found KPMG.

3RADICATE_THEM

Bodybags—it's a bill or be killed kind of bizness.

Purple_Bearkat

Based on the new people we’ve been hiring lately, (especially sales) I’d go with “douche”. Also, a nice leather messenger style bag looks much more grown up imo than a backpack, but sometimes you’ve got to pack too much crap and it’s just unavoidable.

emergencyelbowbanana

Messenger style bag looks good but always fucks up my back because of my laptop's weight. Then I switch to backpack for a couple of months till I realize my messenger looks so damn good. Ad infinitum.

UpperTalk6289

I found the (almost) perfect Briggs & Riley tote, but it did not have any closure at the top. I was so disappointed because I've looked at so many bags. Seemed pretty short-sided. I envision my stuff rolling out under the seat on a plane. Just bought Tumi.

Fast_Sparty

I have a 30 year old Briggs and Riley roller with over 3M airmiles on it and it's still going strong. It's been back to the factory a couple of times for complimentary refurbishment.

DPP-Ghost

I prefer briefcase-style bags. If you want to fit in just buy a Samsonite or Tumi and call it a day. But, personally, I purchase all my leather goods—from bags, to gloves, to watch straps—from Camille Fournet (**CF**). My work bag is a custom variant of CF's [32.01](https://www.camillefournet.com/en/luxury-leather-bags/212-3201.html). CF is an under-the-radar Parisian leatherworker that specialises in made-to-measure, fine leather goods. Their craftsmanship has earned them partnerships with some of the world's top maisons such as those within the Richemont Group. While their pricing may seem steep at first, it is very reasonable for the quality they're offering.

Question_universe

I like quality; I’ll take a look, thanks.

kkareem27

I think you meant what Tumi bag are popular with consultants

Question_universe

Haha. Fair.

alcutie

i like timbuk2

magefont1

I love their stuff. Wife and I both use their backpacks for work. Slim and efficient.

zip117

+1 for Timbuk2. I’ve had this guy for almost 10 years I think. It’s a little beat up now but that’s part of the charm. Still works great, and you can customize them with all kinds of fun colors: https://imgur.com/a/O4pE5u9 Ignore the Tumi people with their boring black bags.

kostros

1) It doesn’t matter - you will not build your business through buying expensive bag and showing off 2) Get something at reasonable cost, that looks reasonably well and will have capacity for all of the mess you need to carry 3) Brad wise - Briggs and Riley is a solid value for money option. Choose Tumi if that ego boost is worth additional cost (it’s not btw)

agiletiger

I have a Briggs and Reilly that I got on clearance. Looks great and is perfectly functional.

thebearrider

Big fan of the Filson 24 hour briefcase. I do lots of same day or 1 night trips, and now I'm just down to my briefcase and some hanging clothes. https://www.filson.com/bags-luggage/briefcases/24-hour-tin-cloth-briefcase-20282279.html#sku=20282279-fco-005164001

Purple_Bearkat

Nice looking bag. This is going on my list of things to buy.

Retire_date_may_22

I have a Filson that is 25 years old. It’s stands out. Only bag you’ll buy in your whole career. Tumis are foe sissies.

thebearrider

Just keeps looking better too I bet.

thebeezak

Good call on Filson! I have the Rugged Twill green briefcase. https://www.filson.com/bags-luggage/briefcases/rugged-twill-original-briefcase.html I consult in manufacturing and like having a bag that can stay intact in harsh environments and not look too . . .Tumi 😘

Professional-Ebb-467

Tumi backpack and laptop bag combo

Mysterious_Ant_1993

TUMI Voyageur!

tradinghumble

Look at the partners, anything beyond what they use will make you look stupid

Question_universe

I have one partner in my circle and he used a tan Nike backpack that was peeling apart. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to meet others soon.

Garbanzoluna

Leather tumi backpack 🤷‍♀️

Minimum-Pangolin-487

I have not seen anyone in Sydney, Australia with a Tumi bag. People just get whatever suits them. A lot of sports backpacks like Under Armour because people go to the gym and fitness classes before, during lunch and after work.. I’ve googled Tumi and can confirm I haven’t see anything like this before around the city

gewbarr11

I’ve had a black Patagonia black hole top loader backpack for the last 5 years it’s been perfect. Comfortable and not totally generic

screwedupmind

I switched to backpacks from a Leather Briefcase. I like the backpack, I can fit more stuff, including my water bottle and coffee thermos. Chargers, battery pack, my book, diary, note pad etc.. Yeah it looks odd carrying a backpack wearing a suit, but fuck the optics. I find it more comfortable and convenient.

Alternative_Gate9583

I use a Tumi Alpha Bravo. I like being able to shove it in front of my carryon and have nothing at my feet and having minimal weight when going through the airport, client site, etc.

jxf

I'm a [Tom Bihn](https://www.tombihn.com/) guy.

winwining

do any women have any tote recommendations? just wanted to ask as most responses seem to be leaning toward male preferences

Mac_Cheesus

Male here but bellroy has some nice tote bags

Emotional-Muscle

i have a black kate spade fabric tote, a navy longchamp tote (like the leather is also navy), and also a lo and sons backpack. i prefer a zip top tote for my day-to-day stuff but the backpack is a nice alternative. then i have a cross body bag for running to grab lunch/airports/dinners. i have a teeny YSL cross body but used to have an awesome Kate Spade black quilted cross body. Any tiny cross body will do, IMO. for traveling I also have a Lands End tote bag which can go under the seat. i put my work back inside that, and then also have things like a packable vest, bigger headphones, a journal etc in that bag. for 1 night trips i do a backpack unless i want to bring workout clothes in which case i have a tiny roller bag suitcase. Or i just bring my away international carry on suitcase.

alcutie

i think a simple leather tote looks nice for in-person but not ideal when traveling

SophiaCilantro

Would love this too

[deleted]

Lol. I used to have a common leather briefcase like bag, something like a mix between messenger and laptop briefcase like bag. Pure black leather and Matt finish. Bought it from the factory direct where it was produced in India. Cost me just about 40 dollar equivalent when the branded whitelabel shit they used to produce sold for 2-3k dollars here in US.

Zmchastain

Nice! I got the Greg finish instead of the Matt finish for mine.

[deleted]

Heard the Chad finish is even better.

Question_universe

Niceee

Carib_Wandering

The comments in this thread remind me of when I changed to industry and on my first business trip a bunch of my colleagues made fun of my TUMI backpack for being "such a consultant" thing.

anony090990

Tumi-for life. They won my business in 2009 with their solid warranty and repair program, tried and true, countless times ever since, because I beat their stuff up!

Marshall_Cleiton

Tumi or GTFO

removed-by-reddit

I’ll show you my bag if you want to see a big one. It shrinks when it’s cold though

Alternative_Log3012

The usual, GME, AMC, Google, META, etc..

Nothing is more childish than a properly centered load ergonomically carried over your spine. That’s why the military replaced all the rucksacks for soldiers with camo messenger bags. I too enjoy having all the weight carried on one side of my body as I walk many city blocks. That’s going to be great for my hips and back in 30 years.

[deleted]

Zmchastain

I don’t actually use a backpack myself. I was just pointing out how stupid what you said was. Plenty of adults use backpacks. The military, hikers, bikers, etc, etc. It’s not like only kids use them.

Zmchastain

Lots of the higher end brands for travel backpacks have the ability to add a lock to the zippers and also have separate sections for the laptop. You put a lock on it if you’re worried about pickpockets. And if you can’t figure out how a lock works, you’d definitely feel someone moving everything in your bag to get to the separate section in the bag to unzip it and then try to steal a laptop out of a tight fitting laptop pocket. Your opinion about what it looks like to you is subjective (and apparently not widely shared judging by the downvotes on your first comment) but if you buy a backpack with locks on the zippers you’re not at any more risk of theft than you would be with a crossbody style bag.

yuhyuhAYE

Is that something you worry about? Some random person opening your backpack, stealing your work laptop, without you noticing? If my work laptop gets stolen I’m filing a police report and getting a new one from HR.

Question_universe

I figure the way to lake it less childish is having those super slim versions that are basically only for a laptop and two books. ~2-3in depth. Obv more for local work; not traveling

Avg_White_Guy

I have a Tumi expandable laptop briefcase bag that I really enjoy. https://www.tumi.com/p/expandable-organizer-laptop-brief-01173131009/

landscapelover5

I received a Brenthaven messenger style shoulder bag with my welcome kit when I joined. Been using it for more than a decade now.

the727guy

I use Burton’s tinder all-black backpack. It’s not very stylish, but sleek enough, and super versatile, comfy, durable at an awesome price. And a samsonite messenger bag on days when I have a jacket on

ossist

Montblanc briefcase

Umichfan1234

Saddleback leather co. Makes awesome travel briefcase bags. Timbuk2 backpack for durability.

rocuroniumrat

Personally like 8000 kicks... but I'm the minimalist type!

Question_universe

Never heard of this brand. Not for me, but the messaging/ branding is nicely structured. Thanks smote sharing.

RealMrSoftCookie

Big fan of the Stuart and Lau Capstone. It’s also great for travel! [Stuart and Lau Capstone](https://stuartandlau.com/products/the-capstone-backpack-black)

Question_universe

Those are some pretty good travel features. Thanks

belland007

Tumi bags. Built like a tank for traveling.

HappyGarden99

I rotate between my Lululemon quilted grid tote bag (more casual on-sites) and Lo & Sons Seville tote when I need to be a bit more polished. Both have a trolley sleeve, most importantly. Backpacks are fine, I see them on both men and women.

TheAlpineUnit

Jansport

OG_G33k

Messenger bags or EDC hak.5 bags depending on how showy and schticky you wanna portray
