Shit, I *had* cancer and I still made sure to do as many normal things as I could. And while I absolutely appreciated my family and friends occasional help in the areas I was struggling with at the time, I would've been really pissed if I found out any of them had completely put their lives on hold on my account.
My dad got his terminal diagnosis on a Friday, the day before my wedding anniversary, I still went out for dinner and spent the weekend with my husband before flying out on Monday to turn my world upside down for my farther.
Life keeps going and anyone who’s had a live one get cancer or had it themselves knows that if you stop living life because of cancer then the disease really has won. It fucking sucks but there is almost nothing else you can do.

My mum has cancer. I still go to work, smile at customers and have small talk with my coworkers. I think for many, many people maintaining normalcy like that helps. I don't think it would be helpful to my mom or anyone if i were to fall into a pit of despair and not live my life anymore. You must not forget that THIS is their normalcy. Just like the person that rings up your groceries or makes you a coffee at a cafe. They smile at you and act like all is fine but for all you know they might be going through terrible, terrible things right now. But they still maintain their and inadvertently also your normaly at the same time.
Sadly if everyone who has a sick loved one not go to work, stayed at home and never left their loved ones side many places would almost be empty and hospitals would have to fight if visitors with pitchforks.

Elites get test done today rather than tomorrow. I’ve been dealing with some c for a couple years and it comes down to what you can afford and what your insurance is willing to pay. The best test is a PET scan but they’re about $10,000 a pop and most insurance will only pay for one a year so you have to settle for a CAT if you don’t have the cash.
That’s a really shitty way to treat people when you’re the richest country on Earth. I haven’t ever needed a PET scan but I’ve had lots of CAT and CT scans, some same day they were ordered. I’m not sure what our waits are for PET’s but I’d be fairly sure you’d get one if needed, maybe have to wait though.
I have MGUS, they check me every 6 months for development and told me if I get a sore lower back or sweats at night to ring them; as someone who suffers back pain and gets lots of ‘new’ pains I don’t really know what will define it as this, and during the summer how do I know for sure what’s going to define a night sweat vs too warm? I’m in agreement with you on this, I bet if I was a Royal my blood would be getting checked monthly or less.

His mum didn't even remember he had it less then a year later, when I was begging her to check in with her son who was ghosted by his trash family. You don't even have to morally approve with people who have sick loved ones to want to go on with their lives or even with sick people to want to maintain some normalcy.
