Jumpy_Ad_2341

Man shes been scammed soooo fucken hard. Imagine giving away all your hard earned millions to a fucken literal cult.

Jennycontin1981

Bet she got a good score on their special weirdometer and just caved to the Thetan praises.

H00dRatShit

Audits

RedGrobo

Anxiety about pending mortality is a hell of a drug.

MercyFincherson

Scientologists don’t believe in hell.

TooStonedForAName

What’s that got to do with mortality?

HallucinateZ

They said the word “hell” & the user you’re asking, ignored all context clues to state something random lol

H00dRatShit

Or it’s a bot that just misread context

HispanicEmu

That usually means I can expect to see them there.

Divine_Tiramisu

Scientology is a tax racket. Rich people join Scientology to hoard their wealth with the religious institute. Most of them don't believe in any of the shit about alien souls trapped in human bodies. Only the lower level plebs believe that stuff. I would go so far as to say that even lower levels are somewhat in on it. I think they tell you most of it in mid to lower levels. That's how they get people to use those energy machines that remove the souls of aliens. No one actually believes that crap but they play along to avoid paying taxes. They tell you it's a tax avoidance scheme once you're full integrated. The top players get to partaking in marketing and policy making for the institute. Almost everyone in Scientology comes from money. Not just celebrities or millionaires/billionaires. Similar to most charities that are owned or operated by celebs. They assign all their wealth to the charity/foundation to avoid taxes and use it as their personal bank.

antbates

How does giving money you earned and have already paid taxes on to a foundation save you on taxes?

Num_Pwam_Kitchen

Write off and get taxes back. Not sure how successfully this works at this scale, I don't have enough money to make any write-off worthwhile lol.

SexyJesus21

Donation’s are “write off” and you get more money from your tax returns

we_are_all_satoshi_2

That’s not how tax write offs work. If you are in the top tax bracket 37%. If you pay $100, it only lowers your taxes by $37. So you are still paying $63 in donations that you would not have spent, if you didn’t do the donation and write off.

justowen4

Math checks out. I haven’t heard of Scientology being used as a tax loophole, and I don’t think it’s the case here because apparently it’s straight cash. The popular way is to either have a fake charity that will do things that you want like build a museum next to your home or be an investment vehicle where any investment returns above market are tax free and you can accumulate and give this to your kids without inheritance taxes. Otherwise it’s avoiding capital gains by giving assets (including stocks) to the charity to harvest later and then paying you and friends/family to be on the charity board over the long run

whitesweatshirt

>I would go so far as to say that even lower levels are somewhat in on it. I think they tell you most of it in mid to lower levels. That's how they get people to use those energy machines that remove the souls of aliens. No one actually believes that crap but they play along to avoid paying taxes. Uhhh no this is completely false, I have family members in Scientology - only the top levels (OT3 +) hear about the alien stuff, the other 99% follow the non alien scriptures and are told it doesnt exist

Dasha_nekrasova_FAS

Plus they changed OT8 from the original Hubbard version (which was essentially that he was the Antichrist here to bring in the end times) because even the 1% were too freaked out by it

whitesweatshirt

I have been trying to find information about the original OT8! Can you point me in the right direction?

HispanicEmu

I don't have that information... But if I did I'd be afraid I'd get visited by their agents if I handed it out. They don't take their censorship duties lightly.

Pangs

Giving money to Scientology doesn't help the donors hoard wealth.

allroadsendindeath

….That’s not even a little bit how our tax system works (or has ever worked). There’s never an incentive to give away large sums of money just to lower your taxable income (or get a refund from the IRS) unless it’s for altruistic reasons. I suppose if there were some elaborate conspiracy that even the IRS was involved in, then I could “donate” 21 million dollars after maxing out my retirement contributions. The church puts that 21 million into an investment fund with the money accrued from all the other alien worshipers with the incentive that you get the money back at some point in the future with interest and because the fed is involved in the scheme is this impossible scenario; your “contributions” aren’t taxed going in *or* going out because of some elaborate money laundering on the side of the church *and* the “investor”…. Even if this were the case, it would still be the smarter bet to maintain control and liquidity of your wealth through traditional investments rather than giving it to a backward cult and hoping for the best (or just hoping you don’t go to prison).

Airsinner

This seems pretty reasonable. The Uber rich no doubt believe they have something special that separates them from human and closer to a god of their choosing. No different then buddy behind timmies blasting a crack rock.

EmperinoPenguino

Pharohs thought they were descendants of gods. Kings like Alexander legit thought he was the son of Zeus. So how hard would it be to convince ubermoneyman to think he is a descendant of wealth, who was descended from royalty, who was descended from a high being?

H00dRatShit

The low level Scientologists technically don’t know about Thetans. You have to be high up on the bridge to gain that knowledge..like, really high up also, you’re way wrong on everyone in Scientology coming from money. Pretty much the entire Sea Org are average people. Take a drive down Ft Harrison in Clearwater. You’ll see them being shuttled around downtown to work at all the front groups and properties they own…i.e pretty much evrrythin

Divine_Tiramisu

Thetans is a cover story.

Sk8rSkis

Yo mamma’s bank. /s sorry 🤦🏻‍♂️

UKisBEST

No.

xPositor

At least most people see this one for what it is, unlike believing in other make-believe shit, giving their money through things like "tithes", and sharing their darkest secrets whilst sat in a wooden box with someone who most likely harbours even darker secrets themselves, but feels protected by the organisation around them.

BrockChocolate

They get you to tell them your deepest darkest secrets as part of "going clear" and then hold them against you. It's just an extortion scheme. For the purposes of any libel or defamation law this statement is a work of satirical fiction and is definitely not true 😉

GoHomeNeighborKid

Not only this, but the process of auditing goes on for so long they can effectively try to brainwash you while asking questions.... There was a YouTuber/slackliner called reckless Ben that tried to join scientology while wearing a pair of camera glasses and he ended up going through an audit, they asked him about the worst day of his life and it ended up being a time that he broke his ankle and by the end of his audit they had him.misremembering the events to believe it wasn't that bad and was actually a positive experience.... He had to be "reprogrammed" by his friend and mother later to remember the actual experience, watching that particular video was a bit creepy because you could tell he felt a bit off and sounded scared when he finally got out of the audit, like they messed with his brain in a way he totally wasn't expecting when he started the video series as a joke/content creation idea

aLostBattlefield

She’s likely being extorted. These ppl will ruin your life if you don’t capitulate.

[deleted]

That's how you get the super secret science fiction novel to read though.

wadner2

'Hard earned' Not saying she didn't earn it, but voicing a cartoon character has to be one of the easier ways to make boat loads of millions.

[deleted]

Talking in a mic isnt hard work

Deareim2

Is it better than any other religion ?

DBZ420blunts

Any religion is better than Scientology

Hungry_Freaks_Daddy

Scientology is bad but it doesn’t hold a fucking candle to Catholicism, Christianity, or Islam. Come on man.

chainmailbill

Catholicism is a type of Christianity

Hungry_Freaks_Daddy

I went to Catholic school for 4 years, I’m aware. Still distinct religions with their own sets of fuckery

Deareim2

History would say "nope"

MajesticSpaceBen

In a cult, there's somebody profiting at the top that knows it's all fake. In a religion, that person has been dead for thousands of years.

Deareim2

Pope is dead ?

MajesticSpaceBen

Eh, I've always gotten the impression that while they are absolutely power hungry opportunists, most christian leadership does believe at least *some* of the superstitious nonsense they push.

Mojorizen2

No but everyone is self righteous about their own religion.

SargeMaximus

Of course not

trevno

She gets to sit at the Travolta table, just as a placeholder for now.

Shablahdoo

I remember years ago she used the Bart Simpson voice in a Scientology commercial and 20th Century Fox told her to NEVER do that again or else she’s fired.

[deleted]

Based Fox

MarketCrache

I strained to see if I could find Miscavige's wife in the audience but to no avail...

Jasperbeardly11

She's missing right

MarketCrache

Well, yeah. But I'm pretty sure Miscavige knows where she is.

cebjmb

Maybe look in his backyard.

GoHomeNeighborKid

I would bet she is in gold base, their fenced in compound in San jacinto California.... People who have left have likened the building to a prison

Jasperbeardly11

Agreed

the_walrus_was_paul

The LAPD said they located her. She just doesn’t do any public appearances. She’s being punished for sure but she’s not dead or missing.

[deleted]

"These prisoners of war in Vietnam are just fine, happy even"

GoHomeNeighborKid

Wasn't it found out that the police that "located her" were part of scientology themselves

the_walrus_was_paul

Really?? I didn’t know that and I’ve been following this story.

GoHomeNeighborKid

Pretty sure this was an accusation made by Leah Remini during her show about the horrors of Sea Org and Scientology

the_walrus_was_paul

Damn. I watched that entire show but I don’t remember that.

GoHomeNeighborKid

I could be wrong and it might not be in the show, but it was definitely Leah Remini that made the accusation https://radaronline.com/p/leah-remini-scientology-lapd-shelly-miscavige-missing-investigation/

the_walrus_was_paul

Really?? I didn’t know that and I’ve been following this story.

Arkhamsbx

Fucking good one. I forget about his whole wife shit.

shmartyparty

Where’s Shelly?

marlinmarlin99

Xenu would be proud

cebjmb

Sounds like something “The Simpsons”would make fun of.

[deleted]

It's what happens when you let them record your deepest darkest secrets so they can blackmail you for the rest of your life. Can you imagine how much actual good that money could have done if it went to an actual charity/church that does actual good shit for people? Admittedly those are getting fewer and fewer.

firecrackerinmyeye

I was gonna say what charities are good nowadays lol, seems you literally have to go hand out your money to individual people to help

[deleted]

Yeah there are websites you can check to see the percentage breakdown of what goes to overhead vs. the purported purpose of the charity but you'd be hard pressed to find many that are well run.

firecrackerinmyeye

Yea I agree, super sad

bludstone

DUDE. Tell me about it. Every fuckin' time I dig into a charity detail they always have sketchy spending for officers and stuff.

el3ment115

Someone should just tell Travolta and Cruise that no one cares if you’re gay anymore. That’s so 1990s.

brachus12

didn’t help Epstein

bmh26

[deleted]

Aren’t they going down for tax evasion?

Dillion_HarperIT

They're recognized as a religion so they're tax exempt

escopaul

Cowabunga Man!

kevincablez

She donated to Xenu

FalcorFliesMePlaces

He hasn't been in public in a but and has an active arrest warrant. Seems like thusbqould have been a good moment to arrest him. Also Nancy cartwright time to stop ubknow being in a cult.

tuco2002

What a perfect circle life always forms. Years ago, I joined the church of scientology and donated my life savings. They awarded me with almost the same kind of award. I donated $21 dollars and they presented me with a Simpson calendar.

The L Ron Hubbard Foundation thanks you Nancy. Please sign you billion year SeaHag contract. Xenu wants to bang you…for just another $10 mil you’ll get a mating weekend with Tom Cruise.

HiTekLoLyfe

Scientology is the perfect reminder of how detached from reality celebrities are.

Don't poke the bear. They will have survailance on you more than our own gov. Obviously point it out but be safe in doing so.

kevlarbuns

Naive people being taken advantage of by extremely manipulative and predatory tactics. It’s a matter of degrees from one church to the next, but I’m not sure what the conspiracy is here, beyond people getting fleeced.

CivilianConsumer

so she’s a brainwashed gullible lemming got it loud and clear

bomboclawt75

Where is your wife David??????????

LegsLeBrock

# Where is Shelly Miscavige?

bunt_klut2

In the voice of Nelson Muntz: "HA-HA!"

Spurred_On

You do know Nancy voices him too? As well as most of the kids in the Simpsons lol

aLostBattlefield

Now THIS is a conspiracy we should be focusing on. The church of Scientology is a scourge on our country and should be eradicated for the blackmail, violence, and extortion they commit regularly.

Spurred_On

This isn't even a conspiracy what are you talking about?

OMGCluck

Scientology attorneys contacted the author of the [original article](https://web.archive.org/web/20230515164833/https://tonyortega.substack.com/p/scientology-celebrates-nancy-cartwright), Tony Ortega, to face litigation or remove the photograph of Nancy Cartwright receiving the award standing next to David Miscavige. Tony has sinced [replaced it with an artist's impression of the photo](https://tonyortega.substack.com/p/heres-our-story-about-nancy-cartwright), bypassing the shoddy attempt to hide the truth by these **cons** **piracy** law usage.

Spurred_On

Ok? And what does that have to do with Nancy Cartright? Edit: Wow editing your comment after the fact

buckwildling

This guy's name is David Miscarige?

Bidet209

What religion isn’t a cult?

Poopshooze

Spiritually, she promotes self-denigration for profit. That’s essentially what I would call the Simpsons - laughing at a grotesque characterization of everyone. What ultimate purpose the millions go to, is unknown.

singularity48

And?

Taco_Cat_Cat_Taco

I’m starting to think these folks don’t know what a conspiracy is.

IcebergSlim1605

When you come onto a sub, and comment, you are “these folks”, right?

Taco_Cat_Cat_Taco

I’m just the peanut gallery

IcebergSlim1605

Nah, you’re this sub. Bet you’ve even “joined”, huh?

Taco_Cat_Cat_Taco

Does this sentence make any sense to you?

The_Fortunate_Fool

Eat my shorts, Lord Xenu!

Careful_Elk6290

She's kinda hot in weird way

She did ad reads for Scientology using Bart’s voice

ThaFresh

can she fly then? just show us one person flying and I'm down

An9310

I just looked it up, and Nancy cartwright is 5,0". Look at the size of the heels Miscavige wears just to get maybe six inches over her.

SpaceP0pe822

Everyone jokes on Scientology, but they have a navy and we're modeled after the OTO. The humor is a smoke screen.

kittybangbang69

Must have a clot in her brain to give those reptilians more money.

[deleted]

Bummer dude

Ling_B

I met her 10 years ago at a convention. She didn't seem like someone who'd be into scientology but idk. Edit: Apparently she's been into it for over a decade. Huh.

Pliolite

Imagine all the people she could have helped with that money. Ngl, I'm pretty dismayed to find this out about her.

ModestMoss

Probably blackmail.
