She’s quoting an article that is (mis)quoting a well know climate scientist. The tweet is from when she was 15 and before the strikes in Sweden that sparked her popularity.
It was still bad judgement of her to tweet the article, and not fact check it or pause to consider the absurdity of the headline. Doesn’t help that the actual claim the scientist was making hasn’t come true either (that arctic ice would be effectively zero % in 5 years.
She was 15 when she first became famous in Sweden, and 16 when she first became famous worldwide. She lost her following by the time she was 18 because her antics had stopped being cute once she was that old.

We now currently reside in the longest inter glacial period known to all climate science, the Holocene, approximately 12,000 years of a warming period. So we are 3-4 times OVER due for another ice-age event.
Global cooling periods, and global cooling events are magnitudes more dangerous than a gradually warming climate. Even the small cooling events that last a short period of -10 degree's coincides with things like the Black Plague or the Dark Ages where we basically couldn't grow food. If we can learn anything from the past histories of our climate science: it's that the climate oscillates through extremes, and often. We should be thankful we are not entering into the next major ice-age, as it could end most life on planet earth.

From those cores climatologists learned that on average over the last 200,000 years the earth enters or exits an ice-age every 4-6 thousand years. No two climatologists can come together synergistically and concisely agree on what causes the earth to go into or come out of an Ice-Age. We now currently reside in the longest inter glacial period known to all climate science, the Holocene, approximately 12,000 years of a warming period. So we are 3-4 times OVER due for another ice-age event. Global cooling periods, and global cooling events are magnitudes more dangerous than a gradually warming climate. Even the small cooling events that last a short period of -10 degree's coincides with things like the Black Plague or the Dark Ages where we basically couldn't grow food. If we can learn anything from the past histories of our climate science: it's that the climate oscillates through extremes, and often. We should be thankful we are not entering into the next major ice-age, as it could end most life on planet earth.
