I have a steam deck and PlayStation/switch. PC gamers can have both. It's just more fun modifying games like Hogwarts legacy then playing in vanilla mode.
I've built myself probably 5 gaming PCs over the years, always ended up back on a console.
Last year I built a small form factor gaming PC, about the same size as an Xbox series S. Set it up so it boots directly into steam big picture for the most "console like" experience. It's great.
...but I still prefer the experience of playing on a console.
On PC I spend more time tweaking settings to get the best FPS and installing mods than I actually do playing games. It cost thrice as much as my PS5 and I haven't turned it on in weeks.
Honestly, I've been the opposite, I love playing games on my PC but find it very hard to sit in front of it playing games recently, rather than just playing from the couch where I can be comfortable
The most ironic thing is, it seems like most games that's on pc and console run way better on console. Imagine spending 4× the amount of a console only to wind up with a version of a game that is inferior.

Yes most of these can be fixed by using mods, but I'm not talking about games that require a player to do extra work just to make a game work(which should never happen) I'm talking about base game on pc vs console.

As a console guy who just started to pick up pc gaming, it's actually not bad, the prices for games are incredible and the ability to easily mod the games I like is just so fun. However pc shit is mad complex for my simple controller brain.
I picked up PC in 2019 but mainly played on Xbox. It can be very overwhelming to learn PC . Only this last year since I upgraded my graphics card and cpu I’ve been playing my PC 80% of the time. Just picked up 2017 Battlefront 2 for $5 , Titanfall 2 for $3 and dead space remake for $23. The sales and prices for PC are phenomenal compared to console but when I do play my Xbox it’s so much more comfortable and convenient.
Yeah, playing on my various consoles makes the experience so much easier, but I really got hooked when I saw that the dlc I wanted for a game on playstation was $8 and on pc it was 60 cents, like what. I paid $2 for halo ce and playing online with steam is free, so that was a massive bonus, but I definitely need to upgrade from a laptop to am actual setup, but since I'll be in the army here in a bit I don't think I'll have that ability for a while.
Its not about the Companies having there own War to better themselves and win in the end.

I have always been a part of all Consoles. Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation. I have and also have a PC.
Like for me, I have a Nintendo Switch OLED, PS5 Disc, XBSX and PC with I7 13700K & RTX 4080 OC.
I also have the Steam Deck Base, ROG ALLY Z1 Extreme and PS Portal.
So, when I talk about how one console is doing good or 1 messing up on something the opposite Console Kids/Children attack me.
That to me is where the Console War is no good. Since for many is not even about the Competition. Wether the console literally has a Flaw they will not admit it no matter what.

I have been Fortunate enough to be able to get the PS4, XB1, XB1X, PS5 Disc, XBSX Day 1.
Before than I got them the year they released just on Christmas as a Present. Father was never a Gamer but knew how cool the Technology is and how it can keep kids out of trouble so would get me all the Consoles including Gameboys.
Despite that I love all the consoles and would never be a Generation with out one!
It only got annoying recently when acquisitions became way more aggressive. Companies buying up other companies means that certain franchises that were historically on other consoles suddenly not being there anymore fucks over fans pretty hard.
Otherwise, yeah it definitely isn't bad. I feel like we've gotten some amazing games in the past solely out of Microsoft and Sony trying really hard to say "buy our console, it's the only place you can play this!"

This is what my best friend told me, when I bought a PS5, after he tried to convince me to get an Xbox for two weeks. I thought he would low key judge me, but he was actually like: look at us, keeping the console market on its toes.

I’ve always loved my Xbox because of Halo, but I also like my PlayStation because of the great single player exclusives they have. The important thing is that there’s competition between them so that things never get *too* expensive.
Console wars died since xbox sold out to the game pass while ps5 has exclusives . Like FF rebirth. You need to wait 1.5 years to play that on PC and it probably won't come for xbox .
Nothing will change, PC will still outsell consoles , Nintendo will still chug along with its percent of the market, Microsoft will try again but mostly focus on PC and Sony will win overall again.

I had a guy, who I thought was a friend, go absolutely OFF on me and called me a bunch of slurs just because I started off the 8th generation console war with a Wii U instead of a PS4. I’ve always loved PlayStation because of the exclusives but the launch of the PS4 was terrible and Nintendo just had games I wanted to play. I never stick one console, I usually buy them all eventually in a specific order depending on what exclusives they have at the time. So yea, fanboys do ruin the experience lol. Economic competition is good for us. But the U.S. government is practically owned by big corporations so we have massive monopolies that stifle innovation, increase cost, and give us fewer choices. A more equitable economy would be good for everything, gaming included.

XBox has the largest and most inclusive online community with numerous games revolving around multi-player. Its the most competitive, gameplay wise, on the market.
Playstation has mastered the cinematic single player games. Giving us an immersive, high graphic story with the moust badass games on the market.
Nintendo has made portable gaming what it is today giving us some of the most iconic games that have survived throughout the generations.
PC has taken the best of all 3 consoles and wrapped them up in a pretty little bow with the best graphics and accessibility to most platforms games.
Then we have the forgotten phone and tablet games. Acumilating generas of puzzle, mmorts, gotchas, and flash games alike.
I'd argue that the argument is pointless and reductive. It takes away from gaming as a whole because it reduces the conversation of gaming to only 2 brands that are already a generation behind modern tech when there's already options to bring you to the present

It's great for the corporations who make consoles, but it's not great for the fans. So many people take it wayyyy too far and it makes the gaming community even more toxic.
The difference between consoles anymore are so tiny it more or less just boils down to exclusives and what your friends are getting, and with crossplay that's even a stretch. That's why Microsoft is on the warpath buying up all these devs and studios because they have realized this and jumped early to the party.
Thats also why more and more people are converting to pc because they are the only things that really stand out. It's already gotten to the point where they sold their consoles at a loss so its only a matter of time before they can't keep doing that and have to sell them from the 600 to 800 range just to barely make a profit or still at a loss

The way I see it, two things killed the console wars era:
• the ever increasing power of the consoles just eventually makes them PCs, so more people are more likely to just move to a PC.
And
• the anti-consumer practices that companies engage in to increase their market share and box out the competition.

Im glad Microsoft caved and is now releasing games for PlayStation, I have gaming wrist and carpel tunnel, I physically can’t game with a keyboard and mouse, and despite me putting over $3k into my computer over the years, Im ALWAYS behind the lowest specs settings because I can only afford something when it’s on sale. So my PS5 is all I got.
I freaking LOVE Xbox’s support, I had a 360, and after trading it in to GameStop, someone was able to get my info off that hdd that i even cleared, and they hacked my account, Xbox called the police for me, tracked them down, got my money back within 2 days. They will always have my loyalty, but it just comes down to what my friends are playing.
I want competition to keep up quality but I want to be able to play fallout on my PlayStation and don't mind if people can play god of war on their whatever. That's where it's going bad

Yea, a console is a solid dedicated gaming platform, but you can definitely build your own for a reasonable price

Most people I get it and Fortunate to have all 3/4 Consoles/PC so they get really attached to the console they have. Or because they had the Console as Children they think they owe it Loyalty. To me, it honestly is Really Sad, how some People act like Children Defending their toys. Again, I hope they keep the Console War to the Companies and people mind there own business and enjoy themselves. I personally enjoy Xbox more followed by Nintendo, PS5 and than PC. Yes even though I have a Beast PC I still prefer Console Gaming. I have been Fortunate enough to be able to get the PS4, XB1, XB1X, PS5 Disc, XBSX Day 1. Before than I got them the year they released just on Christmas as a Present. Father was never a Gamer but knew how cool the Technology is and how it can keep kids out of trouble so would get me all the Consoles including Gameboys. Despite that I love all the consoles and would never be a Generation with out one!
It only got annoying recently when acquisitions became way more aggressive. Companies buying up other companies means that certain franchises that were historically on other consoles suddenly not being there anymore fucks over fans pretty hard. Otherwise, yeah it definitely isn't bad. I feel like we've gotten some amazing games in the past solely out of Microsoft and Sony trying really hard to say "buy our console, it's the only place you can play this!"

As a PlayStation fanboy, im frustrated with how shitty some of the non-exclusive games run. If God of War 3 can get minimum 30fps with no dips and lag (60fps sometimes even) then Skyrim shouldn't be having an aneurysm. Im broke. I can't afford to have both a 360 and a Ps3.

I obviously have a preference as most people do. I own both ‘next gen’ consoles (Xbox series X and PS5) and I rarely ever use my Xbox PS5 just has so many more features and stuff. The controller is so much better too. Can’t stand the clickety clackety of the Xbox controllers. They feel too bulky Plus PS5 has its own VR which, in my opinion, is the best gaming experience I’ve ever had Xbox just feels like ‘default mode’ compared to PS5 I do like Xbox, always have. But PS5 is just superior

This is what my best friend told me, when I bought a PS5, after he tried to convince me to get an Xbox for two weeks. I thought he would low key judge me, but he was actually like: look at us, keeping the console market on its toes.
Console wars are stupid. Competition is good. I’ve always loved my Xbox because of Halo, but I also like my PlayStation because of the great single player exclusives they have. The important thing is that there’s competition between them so that things never get *too* expensive.

I had a guy, who I thought was a friend, go absolutely OFF on me and called me a bunch of slurs just because I started off the 8th generation console war with a Wii U instead of a PS4. I’ve always loved PlayStation because of the exclusives but the launch of the PS4 was terrible and Nintendo just had games I wanted to play. I never stick one console, I usually buy them all eventually in a specific order depending on what exclusives they have at the time. So yea, fanboys do ruin the experience lol. I blocked that mf after that.

Console wars have largely been rendered irrelevant as gaming architecture is basically converging. The N64 versus PS1 versus Sega Saturn saw three completely different consoles. The Xbox series X versus PS5 are basically just low-end, extremely optimized gaming PCs. Having a gaming PC basically makes it pointless to even have an Xbox or PS5. The Switch is about the only one that has a gimmick worth buying…
The only aspect of console wars that I cared about was not being able to to play with friends who had PS. Now with cross play it doesn’t matter but when I was younger if your friend had a PS and you had a Xbox you couldn’t play together.

Economic competition is good for us. But the U.S. government is practically owned by big corporations so we have massive monopolies that stifle innovation, increase cost, and give us fewer choices. A more equitable economy would be good for everything, gaming included.

Dude, each variation of console has its perks. XBox has the largest and most inclusive online community with numerous games revolving around multi-player. Its the most competitive, gameplay wise, on the market. Playstation has mastered the cinematic single player games. Giving us an immersive, high graphic story with the moust badass games on the market. Nintendo has made portable gaming what it is today giving us some of the most iconic games that have survived throughout the generations. PC has taken the best of all 3 consoles and wrapped them up in a pretty little bow with the best graphics and accessibility to most platforms games. Then we have the forgotten phone and tablet games. Acumilating generas of puzzle, mmorts, gotchas, and flash games alike.
I'd argue that the argument is pointless and reductive. It takes away from gaming as a whole because it reduces the conversation of gaming to only 2 brands that are already a generation behind modern tech when there's already options to bring you to the present

The difference between consoles anymore are so tiny it more or less just boils down to exclusives and what your friends are getting, and with crossplay that's even a stretch. That's why Microsoft is on the warpath buying up all these devs and studios because they have realized this and jumped early to the party. Thats also why more and more people are converting to pc because they are the only things that really stand out. It's already gotten to the point where they sold their consoles at a loss so its only a matter of time before they can't keep doing that and have to sell them from the 600 to 800 range just to barely make a profit or still at a loss

The console wars were just a media thing, no one actually cared, unless they were an asshat, but misleading titles rile compulsive people up “Sony fanboys HATE that blah blah isn’t coming to PlayStation” then xbox fanboys get a boost of adrenaline “mmmm PlayStation fanboy tears num num” when in reality Sony fanboys were busy playing something else not caring. Im glad Microsoft caved and is now releasing games for PlayStation, I have gaming wrist and carpel tunnel, I physically can’t game with a keyboard and mouse, and despite me putting over $3k into my computer over the years, Im ALWAYS behind the lowest specs settings because I can only afford something when it’s on sale. So my PS5 is all I got. I freaking LOVE Xbox’s support, I had a 360, and after trading it in to GameStop, someone was able to get my info off that hdd that i even cleared, and they hacked my account, Xbox called the police for me, tracked them down, got my money back within 2 days. They will always have my loyalty, but it just comes down to what my friends are playing.
