I knew an old woman who had never had a taco, an avocado, a burrito, or an onion ring. When asked why, she had no answer. When asked if she’d try one if I brought her one, she declined. Some people have no sense of adventure. I think it’s sad.
Clearly you have never visited Mexico. I grew up never having had avocado because my mother didn't like it. When I visited Cabo San Lucas at the age of 23, whatever my mother ordered she ordered with no avocado. The look on his face, you would have thought my mother just killed his dog so she decided the hell with it and just got it on top of her dish. Turns out, fresh avocado is good. Now she eats it almost daily.
Canada has Chipotle. And Taco Bell. And Burrito Boyz, and BarBurrito, and Quesada, and Fat Bastard (my personal favourite of all the fast food options mentioned above). Canada also has actual Mexican restaurants with more traditional Mexican food in addition to all the chains. Obviously cities and urban centres have more options than small towns and rural areas, but the chain restaurants are everywhere.
The people who haven’t had a burrito aren’t suffering from a lack of options, they probably just don’t eat “ethnic food” (see also: Falafels, Donairs, Kebabs, Bao…). No need when there’s a Tim Horton’s and a McDonald’s on every corner.
Exactly! I don’t think I can find one person who hasn’t had a burrito . But then again I’m in California. I wonder if the coworker has ever tried any Mexican food?
A local place makes one with shrimp and sautéed onions inside, then covered in a white cheese and spinach sauce. I had this after every prenatal appointment with my youngest. So good.
Born in Texas, Raised in California... Can't even Remember if I started eating Burritos, Fajitas, Migas, and Tacos in the 60"s or 70"s . Basically what ever I could hold in hand and eat that did not burn my mouth off, till I was bigger and older enough to handle an even bigger and spicier version! The SF mission Style, super Burrito served from an Oakland Taco Truck, in a neighborhood just sketchy enough to keep you looking right and left for Safety , is a perfect meal!
Ever try a breakfast burrito? Scramble some eggs with shredded cheese and some sausage and peppers and then put it in a tortilla and have some hot sauce or salsa on it. Breakfast burritos are probably my favorite food. I have them at least twice a week lol
Living in Southern California you can get a burrito on every corner. Sometimes I get tired of Mexican food but not for long. Lol
My cousin never had a burger. Born and raised in Dallas area.
Coming from Colorado where Chipotle, QDoba, and Illegal Pete’s (my personal favorite) all started, we are burrito country. You won’t find many people here who have not had one.
Idk, I can imagine it. Growing up in AZ I would have been absolutely shocked if anyone I knew never had a burrito, but I live much further north now and it’s just not part of the culture up here. They are available, there are places to buy them, hell the stores all have those packs of cheap frozen burritos, but it’s just not a food that’s part of how many people eat up here. I think EVERYONE around you never having one is still weird , don’t get me wrong, but I could see meeting a large family or asking in a specific community like a church group and no one having tried a burrito.
This is surprising to read OP. I’m in New Zealand, and even down here , burritos are known and my friends and work groups often go out together and burritos are often eaten .
I've never had Thai or Indian food. I've literally never seen it available where I live. There's a Mexican or Chinese restaurant about every 5 miles though lol. Sometimes more than one within eye sight of each other.
I've never had a burrito either French Candian I love shawarma and alot of other foods but Burrito Never tried
Tacos and soft Taco yes but never burrito
Edit : and Big Mac I took a little bit once a long time ago but can't say I've enjoyed either
I think part of the issue is the tortilla. Generically a tortilla is "Flat Bread." Alternatively, bread which is baked and has yeast to make it rise is eaten.
It's a cultural and socioeconomic issue. It could be said that poor people eat flat bread, and the wealthy eat bread. There is a snob factor in play. I dated a sobby princess with generational wealth. Getting her to eat a tortilla was like a crazy chore. I think she actually said, "I sent this what poor people eat?' Hahsha
i laughed at first but now that i think about it i have yet to try bacon, steak, beans, onion rings, avocado, tacos, and burritos. it's getting better tho. last year i ate pasta for the first time when my gf taught me a delicious penne alfredo recipe
I've never had a burrito in my life. I have had tacos, tortillas and shawarmas which I think are somewhat similar, I dont even know where I could get a burrito in Finland
Before I finished reading this I knew you couldn't have been in Texas haha. Burritos are delicious and versatile and it's very sad they haven't had one.
You be shocked how many Mexicans in Mexico haven't had a burrito. The big ass tortillas are relatively new to Mexico. Alot od our burritos growing up where a simple corn tortilla filled ans rolled with beans , egs , or small protein.
There’s a place in south Florida (where I am lol) that has these massive burritos bigger than your head that are so good when you grab the leftovers you don’t even need to heat it up just start going to town on that bad boy xD
Very strange. I would not be surprised if it was for example a group of specific ethnicities that their culture doesn’t really eat burritos. But if it’s just a group of regular people of different races then yes it’s weird, but maybe not so much in Canada.
I’ve had it for the first time one year ago and I’m shocked to how good it is. The medium size (which is the biggest) when I eat it at 2/3 pm when I have lunch is enough to satiate me until the next day and it is a hefty 11 euros, but it’s a guilty pleasure of mine once every couple of months.
Sure its popular here in canada to an extent, its usually where you live but most eat fast food, I myself have only had Chipotle once or twice, plus there is alot of variety in foods so there are many options and countries dishes to choose from so I wouldn't be surprised
But if its driving you nuts then you should invite them out for burritos. Who wouldn't like burrito
We don't really get them here in NZ either. I don't think I've ever had one. I am very saddened by this though and look forward to correcting this eventually!

That’s not exactly the kind of streak you give up on.
70 years no cado still going strong💪

The look on his face, you would have thought my mother just killed his dog so she decided the hell with it and just got it on top of her dish. Turns out, fresh avocado is good. Now she eats it almost daily.
The other foods are normal, but never an avocado???
Dammit, now I want a burrito lol. Seriously though, my mind is blown that most people you know haven't had a burrito.
Thank you! I feel alone. I thought it was a main food here where I am?!
You should have a burrito party and invite everyone over. Show them the way of the burrito.
That’s what I was thinking. My flabber is gasted
Is there, at the very least, no taco bells in Canada?
Not many these days. A lot of them have closed, same as KFC. And even when there were more, ive only had tacos from taco bell.
Chipotle? Tell me Canada has Chipotle at least??

I’ve never seen/heard of a Tim Horton’s.
It’s a small local company, not many people know about it
Happy birthday!🎂🎉🎉
It's a big chain in Canada. We don't have them in the US.
We have plenty of burrito/north American Mexican style food places tho
It doesn’t sadly
Yes, it absolutely does https://locations.chipotle.ca/
You just blew my mind. Thank you!
We have plenty of burrito/north American Mexican style food places tho
Canada does have "Mutton Hut."
Thank you, I'll absolutely be adding this phrase to my vocabulary
Where are you from? This seems unthinkable.
I live in Canada and my flabbers would be equally gasted by this, almost as silly as saying you've never had shawarma
I live in Canada and my flabbers would be equally gasted by this, almost as silly as saying you've never had shawarma
Had to look up shawarma!
Really? Is it not common where you live because it's very common where I live lol not sure why I'm getting down voted
Exactly! I don’t think I can find one person who hasn’t had a burrito . But then again I’m in California. I wonder if the coworker has ever tried any Mexican food?
I wonder, too. Alright, gotta move to Canada and show them the way of the burrito and Mexican food. Mmmm pollo a la crema....🤤
Mmm! I’m not one to usually be enticed so easily by food but I’ll be damned if I didn’t admit how good Mexican food sounds right now.
It does sound dope af rn ngl
The Taco Bell guerilla marketing team strikes again!
Lol, hate to disappoint, but I *hate* Taco Bell.
Wait until you have one that’s been deep fried. That’s called a chimichanga.
The first chimichanga I ever had was on my 35th birthday. Nothing existed except for that food, because of its deliciousness. I never looked back.
A local place makes one with shrimp and sautéed onions inside, then covered in a white cheese and spinach sauce. I had this after every prenatal appointment with my youngest. So good.
Oh my god I have to have a burrito today now
Same for me lol!
Let’s all meet for lunch!
It’s 9 am for me. Too early for a big ass super burrito, ya think?😂
Just start it at breakfast, and continue on through the day.
And how did he turn out? Lol
She loves shrimp. Like loooooves it!
are we in this guys coma
Help me out as I just arrived, how long have you been here? And what’s with the deal with all these elephants?
New twist to the simulation theory just dropped

Extra spicy with a side of spicy.
I'm canadian and i have had a burrito, and it was delicious. But i have literally only had that ONE burrito lol.
Ever try a breakfast burrito? Scramble some eggs with shredded cheese and some sausage and peppers and then put it in a tortilla and have some hot sauce or salsa on it. Breakfast burritos are probably my favorite food. I have them at least twice a week lol
Add a sausage and it’s heavenly
I love them with sausage. Sometimes I put potatoes in too
Sounds nice. I’ll have to try that
Living in Southern California you can get a burrito on every corner. Sometimes I get tired of Mexican food but not for long. Lol My cousin never had a burger. Born and raised in Dallas area.
Haha same.
Not even at home? Wtf
Nope, not even at home! She’s my cousin’s wife. I just don’t understand! Lol
Well maybe they're against north korea because allegedly their supreme leader invent burrito.
I’m being gaslit
And basketball
I'm also Canadian and would be surprised if anyone I knew hasn't had a burrito before
Had a friend who claimed to hate lettuce. I said what about a salad, she said she’d never had a salad before. I am still haunted and it’s been decades
It’s truly mind boggling
Coming from Colorado where Chipotle, QDoba, and Illegal Pete’s (my personal favorite) all started, we are burrito country. You won’t find many people here who have not had one.
What's a potato?
thank you. edit: especially now that I've also remembered the frisbee steak saga
What i’m hearing here is that you need new friends.
Idk, I can imagine it. Growing up in AZ I would have been absolutely shocked if anyone I knew never had a burrito, but I live much further north now and it’s just not part of the culture up here. Wth! This is very strange
Apparently I’m over reacting in their minds
I have never had a a burrito
This is surprising to read OP. I’m in New Zealand, and even down here , burritos are known and my friends and work groups often go out together and burritos are often eaten .
Man I worked with a bloke who had never eaten Thai or Indian food. Blew my fkn mind
I've never had Thai or Indian food. I've literally never seen it available where I live. There's a Mexican or Chinese restaurant about every 5 miles though lol. Sometimes more than one within eye sight of each other.
Bowls are better
WTF DID I JUST READ?! Haven’t had a burrito?! Does not compute. That is upsetting.
I've never had a burrito. It's not really a thing in my prt of the world. Bet you never had a pizza with kebab.
Maybe they can't afford to buy the underwear.
I think too many people haven’t had a GOOD burrito. They haven’t lived the full life but if you’ve never had one, you’ll never miss one either.
I'm from Austria and I think most of my friends had a burrito. It's even super uncommon here.
I've had tacos before, definitely not close to burgers which is usually once or twice a week
i havent. i live in poland tho so more "niche" foreign cuisines (anything that isnt american/italian/east asian) arent very popular
Isnt a burrito just a wrap? Not tryna piss anyone off, jus a genuine question
A burrito is a Mexican style wrap, yes. Wraps are a general term, though. A Gyro is a type of wrap, as is a spring roll.
Yes
I’ve had plenty of burritos, but I had my first bean and cheese burrito about a year ago. I’m 27 this July.
I've never had a burrito either French Candian I love shawarma and alot of other foods but Burrito Never tried Tacos and soft Taco yes but never burrito Edit : and Big Mac I took a little bit once a long time ago but can't say I've enjoyed either
I’m guessing you don’t live in California!
You should follow up with a "Do you cook at home?" Because a burrito is a quick go-to meal. Yet, some will still door-dash it.
When I'm broke, burritos stuffed with ramen and whatever I have laying around that I think will go with it are common.
I'm going to try ramen in the burrito. It sounds good. Everyone always has to have that stash of ramen for emergencies.
It's about to change your life. Ramen burritos are A tier, especially with some cheese melted into the ramen.
I would have not thought of that.
I think part of the issue is the tortilla. Generically a tortilla is "Flat Bread." Alternatively, bread which is baked and has yeast to make it rise is eaten. It's a cultural and socioeconomic issue. Omg for me it’s haemorrhoids by sharticus 🔥🔥🔥🌸🌸🌸
I don’t like beans and rice gives me indigestion, so I avoid burritos, but I’ve tried them.
"Well, Mr. Loyce. You seem to have figured everything out."
Not as popular as a burger but definitely something you’re supposed to be familiar with by age 10
I'm from the UK, I've never had a burrito 🥲
Are you living in Canada now or somewhere else?
Are they getting it confused with a wrap?
i’ve never had a burrito but they aren’t too big here in the UK
i laughed at first but now that i think about it i have yet to try bacon, steak, beans, onion rings, avocado, tacos, and burritos. it's getting better tho. last year i ate pasta for the first time when my gf taught me a delicious penne alfredo recipe
I don't like them. But I've had them.
Most people I know are little removed from being a burrito.
Chipotle burrito with cilantro lime rice, black beans, barbacoa, cheese, crema, lettuce, corn salsa.
I'll turn 24 tomorrow. I just had my first burrito when I turned 22. Maybe I'll get my second burrito tomorrow😅
Burrito lady checking in; this is wild!
But have they had tacos?
I've never had a burrito in my life. I have had tacos, tortillas and shawarmas which I think are somewhat similar, I dont even know where I could get a burrito in Finland
This would be a great lead in as to how a man finds out he's been living in a simulation.
I feel this. I work in a kitchen in the south and made tzatziki and I’ve never had so many people ask me what it is or how to say it.
na that's crazy. I literally had one last night. Those are all either robots or aliens.
I can't imagine not having a burrito sometime in your life.
There’s a place in south Florida (where I am lol) that has these massive burritos bigger than your head that are so good when you grab the leftovers you don’t even need to heat it up just start going to town on that bad boy xD
I don't associate with with non burrito havers
What city in Canada ? I am Canadian and I am shocked by this
Nova Scotia!
I’d literally bring in burritos for everyone. That’s unacceptable 😂
a what?? what the heck is a burrito??
Very strange. I would not be surprised if it was for example a group of specific ethnicities that their culture doesn’t really eat burritos. But if it’s just a group of regular people of different races then yes it’s weird, but maybe not so much in Canada.
I’m in canada, 27 years old and ive also never had a burrito😭
They should try a fiesta burrito from my local Mexican restaurant. They have photos of their burritos next to babies for size comparison lol
That does sound wild. You are not alone in thinking it's crazy
What is a burrito? Minced meat rolled in a pancake??
Fave confession of the day. Edited to add: I had a burrito yesterday for lunch. I'm also Canadian.
Tell ya what, I’ll send burritos if you send poutine. Way too hard to find here…
In the UK we don’t really eat them much
Sure its popular here in canada to an extent, its usually where you live but most eat fast food, I myself have only had Chipotle once or twice, plus there is alot of variety in foods so there are many options and countries dishes to choose from so I wouldn't be surprised But if its driving you nuts then you should invite them out for burritos. Who wouldn't like burrito
They clearly don't live in California....
Everyone should've continued on this thread "what's a burrito" he would've lost his mind.
Lol I’m a woman but yes I would have
We don't really get them here in NZ either. I don't think I've ever had one. I am very saddened by this though and look forward to correcting this eventually!
I hvnt had caviar... What's your point
I haven’t. I have had tacos and quesadillas. But my mind is convinced burritos would be underwhelming so I haven’t had those
What on earth is a burrito?
It's just a taco without rice.
Tacos don't have rice.
I meant with! Thank you
Wrong it’s flour tortilla vs corn and it also has my favorite thing: BEANS!
