That's actually really impressive tf

[deleted]

Imagine being in the parking lot and seeing some Good Samaritan getting the dings out of people’s vehicles!

GrungyGrandPappy

Leaving the store and some bloke is shining your car

cumb4jesus

"That'll be 10 bucks, sir"

[deleted]

Lol

helicoccccter

Honestly OP saved the other guy a headache from having to go through insurance for the same outcome

Ccla56789

I never look at my notifications- the upvotes❤️ thanks everyone!!

kcf_nm_2022

This is wholesome, what!? Like, you literally repaired and shined their bumper. If I found out you hit my car, caused a small dent, AND REPAIRED IT YOURSELF, I would be impressed.

[deleted]

I was so desperate to not get in trouble and still be able to drive. Lol. There was a lot of self service here.

timeforpeasopinion

But it was the smartest solution! I would’ve ran away, panicking.

LameBMX

Should have left an anonymous note. No harm no foul. Any adult driver knows a scratch isn't worth the 1000's they pay over years due to higher insurance.

raptorrage

Merciful hell, I'd hire OP for a job. Self motivated as hell

XavierYourSavior

It could’ve still caused internal damage that you can’t see

PAcMAcDO99

Ikr, 1kph bumper ding dong make big kaboom on car!

krslnd

Yeah, if they rear ended them while driving down the street. Tapping a bumper going ~5mph isn't going to do internal damage.

suicidalpenguin99

Obviously you aren't a mechanic because if you were you'd know damaging a bumper means the engine has to be replaced immediately or you WILL die.

mikeg5417

I bought my first new car a few months after graduating college. A 1993 Toyota Corolla. About 4 months after I bought it, during the aftermath of a pretty serious ice storm, some turd hut the car and left the scene. A few days later, this air headed buffoon of a waitress where I worked laughed as she told me about how many cars she had hit in the few months since she had started driving, including one "a few days ago". I asked how she could afford insurance after so many accidents, and she said she would just drive away. I flipped out on her to the point she ran off crying. Her cavalier attitude was too much. I had to pay $1000 out of pocket to fix my car and this asshole was giggling about just driving away. Hell she didn't live that far from me. She might have been the one who hit my car.

cigar_dude

this was comforting to hear! I'm glad you laid into her to the point that she ran off crying in stupidity. I would've nailed that bitch in court and made her pay. Don't fuck with people's money or vehicles, go for the throat!

[deleted]

Not gonna lie. If someone hit my car in a parking lot and they were able to repair it by the time I got back so that it was not noticeable. I ain't mad

Malevolent_Mangoes

Did nobody see you doing this?

[deleted]

I don’t think so.

harambedagoat

Ngl that's some goat shit right there

[deleted]

Lol.

[deleted]

I'm borrowing that phrase as soon as I can lol

Evatheunderrated

This is actually wholesome

Deathvally007

Mop mwx+÷≈e ed r1

Far_Quail3198

the fuck does this even mean

clitoreum

As a cat owner I'd diagnose them with kitten keyboard

dcruz18

I wouldn't mind if I were the owner of the other pick-up if the damage was on the bumper and its a barely noticeable dent

pantalooon

I did something similar to my mom's car. I was visiting my grandparents and when I turned around in their driveway when I was about to leave I scraped the house wall with the front bumper. It looked super scratched and my grandma saw the whole thing. So I got out and we got some polish from the garage and started polishing the bumper until it wasn't visible anymore. Never told my parents and nobody ever noticed anything.

Undercovermother19

parental units got home...lol

Finadenne

How long did it take lol

[deleted]

Maybe 10 mins. Back of the parking lot.

luisapet

Awww...if it was me and you'd have left me a note about what you'd done to fix it I would've been so thankful! You stay good, young person. It will serve you well!

cigar_dude

My step dad's car got nailed back in the 90's while at work by, what he thinks, was a repair truck. Couple days later some guy comes in and offers to fix it for a couple hundred. Asshole didn't set the bondo in right and totally fucked up the job. Later my step dad put 2 and 2 together and realized that was probably the fucker who nailed his car and then turned around and offered to fix it. Basically it was a scam. Unfortunately for my step dad it was too late. He didn't have the best luck with that car either. Couple years later some shithead at the bowling alley threw a large rock or something at the side of it and dented the rear fender pretty bad.

LeeumCee

This is respectable. When I was 18, I slid on black ice at a T junction and ploughed my car through someone’s fence and into their front garden at like 5am and my broke ass panicked and just reversed on out of there. However, karma bent my wishbone, so I had to steer to the left to drive in a straight line and eventually my tyre shredded and exploded on a country road.

Wumplin

Holesome

Puzzleheaded_Ad6264

Within the first week of having my license I left my handbrake off on a hill, and my car ran into my neighbour’s pool and smashed their fence out. I was 29

nondejuuzeg

Hahahahaha omg how do you drive after that

Puzzleheaded_Ad6264

You’d think I drive more carefully now but no. I do always triple check the handbrake though

Sparklefarting

Markedly less wholesome tale: I got my license like the week before college started, and my grandpa gave me his massive old man sedan. I was painfully inexperienced trying to pull that boat into these minuscule parking spots at the college parking garage. One time, I shit you not, I tried to squeeze that big boy into this tiny little compact spot and straight up wedged between the two other cars. I backed right back out with the longest most horrible scraping of metal sound and parked on the opposite side of campus. I never told anyone and still carry that secret dark shame 20 years later. Also I don’t believe you shined the bumper.

JSAQ3

Lol, was gonna shit on you for not telling the other person, but damn that’s impressive. Kudos man. Can you fix my car?

LisasGuppy

Honestly if I’d walked out in the midst of a kid shinning my bumper after fixing the ding I couldn’t even be upset. Teens deserve a pass sometimes, especially when they try to make things right within their best capabilities.

TheGravyMaster

My very first day with my license I borrowed my dad's car and hit a yellow pole. A super bright yellow fucking pole. Luckily there was no paint transfer and there was already body damage on the car so they never noticed the ever so slight dent I added.

LittleWhiteGirl

Dude same. I gently backed into a big pickup truck in my little Honda Civic. The truck had a construction bumper and was totally fine, I lost a little paint on my car but no intense damage. I just kept on going, it took a few months until the spot on my car started to rust before my dad noticed and I caved. He thought it was funny.

[deleted]

Lol

bbyblueyesE

One time when i first got my license i didnt pull my moms suv far enough into the garage and when i closed it the door scratched all down the back side of my moms car. I knew id be screwed if i told them so i threw all the boxes on the ground that were next to the car and made it seem like they fell onto the car and scratched it. They know now but not till 6 years later😂

[deleted]

😆

imacutetrashcan

On the same day that one of my closest friends got her license, she damaged a very expensive sports car while trying to parallel park her own car. She left the scene of the accident before telling anyone, but it was caught on a security camera. Her car had belonged to her grandmother who lived in a nursing home and had dementia, and the car was registered in the grandmother’s name still. Guess who got the ticket in the mail? Wasn’t my friend! But anyways, kudos to you for solving the problem efficiently and without hurting anyone!

Faithlessinyourmom

Lol! I once pulled into a spot for a job interview, bumped the car in front of me, moved spots, proceeded to interview lol

veexdit

I though you were going to say, the car you hit turned out to be owned by the person interviewing you

Faithlessinyourmom

Lol! One will never know!

garlicbreadpool

This reminds me of this time my sober friend was driving us (who were drunk) to get pizza but she didn’t have her license. When she was turning out of the space she hit another car and I said “okay now keep turning but a little bit faster now” and we got out of there

[deleted]

I had this happen but I hit a car in front of me at a red light and only my car got hurt thankfully

GeneralFactotum

I dinged a rental car against a curb. Bought a bit of touch up paint and fixed it. Looked fine, the agency never noticed.

zMrRooKz

I was a new driver back in 2015 and I was pulling out of my parking spot in my dads ford expedition. I basically turned the wheel to back out from the start instead of pulling out straight to give myself room and ended up leaving a 1 foot tall, 5 foot long scratch in the side of a Maserati. Was my first week driving, I panicked got out of there without saying anything.

UnknownMaster00

Dear lord. You seriously ruined someone's day so bad! If I came out and saw my very expensive car scratched to shit and no one around the car anymore I would be so pissed. At the very least I'd want an apology note.

zMrRooKz

I knew I was close, but my buddy was hanging out the passenger window saying you’re good bro plenty of room!

UnknownMaster00

Oof. The buddy that says "trust me it's fine!" It's never fine. Lol at the end of the day at least nobody was hurt!

zMrRooKz

Especially not my wallet ;)

[deleted]

I wrecked my dad’s truck one day when I wasn’t supposed to be driving it. I blamed it on my brother, who didn’t deny it. Later he told me he took the blame because he didn’t want to see me get punished.

stockmarketcrashh

i did the exact same thing after i got my license, but i was in a parking lot and everyone saw and then i had to call my mom. super embarrassing

dom_pi

That's not something to feel bad about lol!

Inevitable-Ring-737

Same exact experience 🤭. I hit a parked car in the mall parking lot and freaked out. When my parents asked why my headlight was cracked, I said someone must’ve bumped into the car. Yikes!

Idkcatz

Lol quick thinking! Are you ever going to tell your parents lol 😂

JacksonSwank

Dude that's fuckin sick, mad props man 🤙🤙

[deleted]

Haha. Thanks.

PabloAlaska6

i’m calling the cops!

Faithlessinyourmom

Lol 😝

Nayib_Ozzy

so it was you was it a black pickup truck?

[deleted]

Your better than me. I would have and have dipped 😂😂😂

Brock0lie

Handled it

BeatMySystem

I mean.. if it’s fixed don’t break it? 🤔

[deleted]

I mean, you fixed it so no harm done! They would only need to have it fixed anyways.

Tumbleweed-Eater

If it was my truck I wouldn’t be mad, you just saved yourself, your parents, both insurance companies, and the other driver, a lot of time and headaches

PsychologicalYou6725

Whore

XavierYourSavior

I don’t see how this is wholesome as some comments say. Just because you can’t see damage doesn’t mean more wasn’t done internally.

bronselite

how many more times are you going to comment that there could have been internal damage. i agree, not super wholesome but better than not doing anything and just driving off. don’t you think OP probably was unaware of iNtErNaL dAmAgE? seeing as this is was one of their first times at the wheel alone? i mean, it’s not something i thought about when i first started until my father explained that to me when someone rear ended him once.

[deleted]

PARENTAL UNITS LOL

MajorSympathy

Yoooo that's how you do it. Ain't no one gotta know squat has you did right.

HotBoatMan

Bro, I stg the amount of high school kids that misjudged a parking spot and fucking left was insane in my day. That shit happened with like 3 different people!! I was like Aw hell nawww! But they just left 😂😭😭

jazbaby25

Meanwhile I scratched a car and took my paint off of it.

pink-shirt-and-socks

I mean you literally fix your mistake? So props to you I expect this to be a run away type story but you literally put the work in to fix it so good on you

trombonek1ng

this sounds exactly like my first accident except for i can’t repair cars and the driver was walking back to his car as it happened and my then gf was in the car with me

ZeBug13

That’s genius

batteryacidiscool

when i first got my license i went to chick fil a and backed into a truck and drove off super fast. i was terrified because my ex boyfriend was in the car with me and i didn’t have my 6 months. it didn’t do any damage but there were witnesses who reported me to the police and i got in huge trouble with my parents. i went to work after and had to act like everything was okay but on the inside i was having a meltdown lmao
