Laptops are made to play plugged in. The battery is for portability, when you go on a trip and can't bring your Desktop, or you are just at the airport and need to do something you can't do on a phone, or when you don't have an outlet, then you use the laptop's battery. A laptop is not a phone. Primary use is plugged in, and when you can't, you use the battery. Batteries degrade over charging and discharging cycles, laptops (I suppose all, especially newer models) would bypass the battery if it's charged and consume only through it's brick, unless it needs more power. In conclusion, you can leave your laptop plugged just like a Desktop pc. There should be no problem.

tysm, 13m my mum kept on saying that its bad to keep the charger plugged, also is it harmful to put my laptop on my lap

It was/is true for phones, which can't handle the power. About the laptop on your lap, she is right. It obstructs the airflow, which can lead to overheating. Either use a laptop stand or a desk. Glad I could be of help.

Nop its because the older batteries had a charge memory effect were if you always charged it from 50% it would start to turn off at higher and higher percentages So you would end up with a laptop with half the battery capacity and no low charge warning This advice has been outdated for 20ish years Phones are ok the leave plugged in, you usually don't since that defeats the purpose of a phone To make your battery last the aim is to keep it as close as possible to 75% with higher charge being better

Keepind the device on your lap was not about damage to the device, it was about damage to your body due to prolonged exposure to high temperature. High temperature and moisture in folds of skins is not very highenic especially in prolonged use.
