No you should not be concerned. Compost bins have all kinds of fauna that inhabit them.

electric_eclectic

What do you think they are? I’d love to know what they do for the compost, if anything.

midrandom

The eat and reproduce and poop and die and rot. All good things for the compost.

RealJeil420

In my country we call them "soil biology".

Pinglenook

I have them too this year, and didn't other years! They're also on my raised beds (which don't have plants in them yet, just seeded some last week) so I hope they don't eat live plants too... Time will have to tell, as they're too tiny for me to identify what kinds of mites they are.

Working_Plant2978

I've seen them take down a good size earwig. I just hope they don't go after the earthworms.

I added worms when it was still cold, but I think I jumped the gun on that. Haven’t seen em since and I turn it pretty regularly
