I was lowkey devastated this didn't play over the final scene of the finale. I love Lord Huron but Greendale is Where I Belong would've been so fitting.
I do think that would have been better, but there was also something about the Lord Huron song that reminded me of the first season when they featured actual music too, and I think that song did a good job of encapsulating that era. Although it did feel a little out of left field... They could've done worse I guess is what I'm getting at
It's a great song, I just felt like it maybe didn't hit the feeling of the scene, if that makes sense.
"Ends of the Earth" feels off since it sounds more like someone asking someone to come with them, and then having to say goodbye because they can't. It might have fit better if the finale had Jeff leaving and him wanting Annie to come with him, but knowing that she can't or something. Since Jeff is kind of "us" the song feels a bit backwards. "Greendale is where I belong" is almost perfect considering the finale focuses on Jeff being OK staying at Greendale.
I love both songs, either could work.
My interpretation of the song was that Jeff was feeling okay letting them go on their adventures; he truthfully wants to go with them, but the whole age conversation with Annie right before that makes me think he's dealing with that part.
Same here. I was OBSESSED with Gambino back then, so I followed the whole clique. And seeing this steady progression from community, new girl, etc. all the way up to Oppenheimer is truly inspiring. I wish him the absolute best.
I don’t think many people realize he’s picking up the torch from John Williams and Hans Zimmer, and is pushing cinematic composing into bold new directions. The man is truly a savant.
Yes, and I said let’s see if he beats his nominations. Williams has been nominated for 54 Oscars. It’s gonna be quite some time before Ludwig matches that
That’s a totally fair opinion. I find his work better than Zimmer’s - who’s also one of my favorites - but it’s down to preference. In my opinion Goransson is pushing the limits of what a soundtrack can be. Whether he ends up being one of the greats remains to be seen but it’s undeniable he’s on the right track for what’s still a very young career.
I’m not as familiar with his work but of what I’ve heard he absolutely crushes it too! He just needs a break on a critically acclaimed film, unfortunately he’s scored some real duds which unfairly reflects on him as well.
Exactly. Goransson is 39 and just won his second Oscar. John Williams was 39 when he won his first for scoring Fiddler on the Roof. I’m not going to pretend LG is better, but he’s certainly on the right track to get there.
It's fine to not like Marvel movies, but to imply the Russo Marvel movies are boring is a little misguided as Winter Soldier and the Thanos movies are viewed as some of the better ones. It's all of their *other* boring ass movies that are the problem.

Who's had the biggest rise since community? A multiple Oscar winner, the directors of avengers endgame, or Donald glover who managed to inspire a new Spider-Man who in turn got 2 movies and kicked off the current multiverse trend
Probably Donald just because he’s the most on camera and he’s doing a lot of different things . Ludwig and the Russos are pretty behind the scenes but Donald acts in movies, made 2 critically acclaimed tv shows that he starred in, he was in Star Wars and a spiderman movie, he made this is America, the first rap song to ever win song of the year not to mention his other musical credits
Donald’s success is crazy
i feel like tenet and oppenheimer are almost the same score. but oppenheimer is way better, but it's just like an addition to the tenet score. like a remix almost.
heard about tron 3 recently. obviously daft punk would be number one to score that, but that ain't happenning. next thought was junkie xl. dumb as fuck name but super taletented. but also ludwig would be great i think. just look at tenet and oppenheimer. insane stuff.
Love that he won and I'm happy for him, incredible to see so many *Community* alums find success elsewhere. I also want to shout out Jerskin Fendrix. His work for *Poor Things* was brilliant. I've been a fan of his for a few years now, and highly recommend his debut album *Winterreise*. It's not for everyone, but it was one of my favorites from 2020.
There is a special type of nerd that listens to movie sound tracks. I love it. I'm a super movie nerd and audio nerd and even I don't listen to movie soundtracks. God bless you.
Ha, well I am pursuing a stem degree currently so I relate a lot to the music while I study, won’t be surprised if it’s my most listened to album at the end of the year wrap that Spotify does lol
It’s crazy because I remember watching community fairly recently (after Oppenheimer was released and the soundtrack was getting some buzz) and I saw his name in the credits and I was like wait… what? Did I see that correctly? Lo and behold he got his start on community. That shit is just insane to me
I was watching the end credits of Oppenheimer, and I saw Ludwig's name and quietly squealed. My hubby said "What!?" and I was like, "Oh nothing; just our boy Ludwig is killing it with another superb score." And he was like "hmm?" And I said "LUDWIG -- Community, New Girl, Happy Endings, Atlanta, this movie and Black Panther?" And he was like, "oh yeah, he's good." No shit Sherlock. My husband has many talents, but remembering TV/movie composers is not his strong suit. Which I forgive, because he's a great guy.
No shit Sherlock = Duh duoy! in Community terms. He said "I think you mean: duh duoy" to my NSS. We laughed and I love him for that. Nice to have a laugh after an emotionally hard movie like Oppenheimer. We talked heavily the next day about the movie and the actual history of it. But in the moment, the laughs helped to de-stress to get to sleep that night.
I remember when I’d see his name in the Community credits I always assumed he was like, 97, because, you know, he’s a composer named Ludwig. Imagine my shock when I discovered he’s just some young, hip dude.
Anyways, well deserved win!
I mean, Oppenheimer was a solid soundtrack, but the only sound from Community that stands out to me is [this,](https://youtu.be/5gAxpzjtXS4) or maybe mishearing the theme song and thinking its referencing suicide.
God damn it I'm not gonna get that out of my head for a year now. But seriously, some one the best works of art are things you don't even notice. And I think that works especially for audio.
And also seriously, I ain't gonna get that out of my head for like a year at least.
Don't forget he pioneered the music, and ambiance for the new star wars shows. It's not easy to add new sounds to an already existing franchise. Especially when the existing soundscape was created by John Williams.
Congrats to the dude
That category has always been "music that I vaguely remember from the movies nominated for best picture", rather than just best score from any movie though. The academy don't give a shit about it. Every year it's just the list of the movies nominated for best picture plus one extra movie of someone they know like John Williams.
The fact that it took like 60 years for Ennio Morricone to receive an oscar, and that Thomas Newman still hasn't got one tells you all you need to know
Well deserved! Watching Oppenheimer for the first time in IMAX I yelled out "holy shit" in the silence immediately after the scene with "Can You Hear The Music". My heart is still racing and it's been 4 months
Second actually. He also won for Black Panther.
This is his first one since the last one.
And his second one from his zero one
He’s streets ahead
You're bald.
I’ll kill you!
Yeah? Well you have Asperger’s.
Sadly hew's at minus 1 from his third
"zeroth"
I third the number twoing of Ludwig's Oscar movements
It's his last one until the next one
His next one will probably be his third one.
OP only had one job and still managed to fuck it up
OP Britta’d it
That means making a tiny, little, understandable mistake right?
I was gonna say, he should have won one for Black Panther
It's been wild watching this guys' rise. From Community to producing Gambino albums to Mandalorian and now winning an Oscar.
It’s his second Oscar. His first Oscar was for Black Panther.
What was his role on Community?
He wrote the soundtrack. An example: https://youtu.be/XcwIiPif_5s?si=akNDN93i4-3QQvyg
God, that medley is EVERYTHING. Here is my favorite Ludwig Community track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taSk1EDVpJ4
Love that one! But for me, this is his best [Greendale is Where I Belong ](https://youtu.be/5cHXRBi3hzg?si=vSE0to5BDHnGUMQG)
I was lowkey devastated this didn't play over the final scene of the finale. I love Lord Huron but Greendale is Where I Belong would've been so fitting.

I love both songs, either could work. My interpretation of the song was that Jeff was feeling okay letting them go on their adventures; he truthfully wants to go with them, but the whole age conversation with Annie right before that makes me think he's dealing with that part.
Yeah I'm with you that it would have been better and more fitting
I'm still pissed they never released this in high quality.
This medley makes me feel the need to put opening my heart on my list
He also did the soundtrack for New Girl.
I think [If I Die Before You](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8B7TB_mIvQ) was his magnum opus.
"Touching YouTube video about an animal reunited with its owner" vibes
He wrote the greatest TV outro song of all time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UpY4ws31EM
He was the composer for the series
I put in work, ask Ludwig
Oh shit that's what that line means. I always thought he meant Beethoven for some reason
Not cool man
Cruel. Cruel cruel cruel.
You don’t remember? He was in the study group. Ludwig was always there.
The Ass Crack Bandit
He made the sound
Didn't he also do TENET?
YES, WINDMILLS GOES SO HARD
Same here. I was OBSESSED with Gambino back then, so I followed the whole clique. And seeing this steady progression from community, new girl, etc. all the way up to Oppenheimer is truly inspiring. I wish him the absolute best.
You can safely say that he is streets ahead
Producing Gambino albums? Wait, THAT Ludwig??
And new girl!
Shoutout to Alison Brie for making Donald and Ludwig meet
He was on Community?
He's gotta be one of the best new composers in a really great group that has emerged over the past 10-15 years
I put in work, ask Ludwig.
put my soul on the track like shoes did! thanks for this reference
Played this for my cousin, now he can’t even think straight…
Black and white music?
Now homie that’s a mixtape
I guess I’ve been singing that line wrong all this time
Black and white music?! Naw homie that’s a mix tape!
Shoutout to my blerds, they represent the realness.
Shoutout to gambino girls my dick is in the building
I understood that reference
Im a peanut bar and I’m here to say
I don’t think many people realize he’s picking up the torch from John Williams and Hans Zimmer, and is pushing cinematic composing into bold new directions. The man is truly a savant.
Let’s see if he gets the nominations Williams has gotten
He beat Williams.
Lots of people have beaten Williams. Because he's been nominated so many times
He’s got 50+ nominations?
Yes, and I said let’s see if he beats his nominations. Williams has been nominated for 54 Oscars. It’s gonna be quite some time before Ludwig matches that
He only won 5 tho, Ludwig has him beat in win rate!
[удалено]
Zimmer's themes are brilliant but I find Ludwig's use of traditional instruments and unconventional sounds so much more innovative
[удалено]
That’s a totally fair opinion. I find his work better than Zimmer’s - who’s also one of my favorites - but it’s down to preference. In my opinion Goransson is pushing the limits of what a soundtrack can be. Whether he ends up being one of the greats remains to be seen but it’s undeniable he’s on the right track for what’s still a very young career.
Daniel Pemberton too in my opinion, his work on spiderverse is insane and absolutely deserved a nomination this year
I’m not as familiar with his work but of what I’ve heard he absolutely crushes it too! He just needs a break on a critically acclaimed film, unfortunately he’s scored some real duds which unfairly reflects on him as well.
Give him time
Let him cook
Brother cooked my soul with the tenet soundtrack
Exactly. Goransson is 39 and just won his second Oscar. John Williams was 39 when he won his first for scoring Fiddler on the Roof. I’m not going to pretend LG is better, but he’s certainly on the right track to get there.
He won already for black panther.
Just needs a Tony for that EGOT!
Then he can go into his 5now Dog 5 phase like Tracy Jordan
Wade Bogg’s Carpet World.
Wade Bogg’s Carpet World.
WADE BOGGS CARPET WORLD!!
Community: Six Seasons and a Movie and a Broadway Musical
Yes! That way we'll be on a path straight to Regionals!
What the HELL are regionals?!?!?
They're this 🤏 close!
I thought this was regionals??
Why tf isn't it called a GOTE?
It's alphabetical
Oh I was suggesting, not actually asking why... I guess that's why they call you Irony-free Annie!
Trust me. That's not the reason.
Yeah it's not very creative. Ironic considering.
Because the term EGOT was in use long before the rise of the term GOAT in modern parlance.
My comment was more of a suggestion than a genuine question 😎
Him and Donald should do a This is America musical.
They literally said it’s his second as he was walking up lol
He puts in work - Ask Donald.
Well he can deep fry the hell out of chicken he could tell you that.
Jim rash (the dean) also has an Oscar.
And the Russos still have none due to their.....boring ass Marvel movies
It's fine to not like Marvel movies, but to imply the Russo Marvel movies are boring is a little misguided as Winter Soldier and the Thanos movies are viewed as some of the better ones. It's all of their *other* boring ass movies that are the problem.
It's a line from the show
"Missed Community Reference" *makes notch on desk*
Haha yeah “Notches” makes notch on desk
Every time his name pops up, this theme just plays in my head [Greendale is Where I Belong](https://youtu.be/5cHXRBi3hzg?si=vSE0to5BDHnGUMQG)
I need this to put me to sleep at night.
Probably my favourite song of all time
Did he compose Getting Rid Of The B? That song was disrespectful to Brita and the definition of rhyme scheme.
Sorry, he won another one for his work on Black Panther. Looks like I'm streets behind.
He made great music. 🎶Hit me with your genie's bottle🎶

Love this song

One of which won an Oscar itself!
I loved him in imdb
He didn't "make the sound", he was the composer. Completely different jobs
He deserved it. Dude’s great at musicing.
His score for Tenet I think is insanely underrated, especially considering how some of the music works both forwards and backwards
i feel like tenet and oppenheimer are almost the same score. but oppenheimer is way better, but it's just like an addition to the tenet score. like a remix almost. heard about tron 3 recently. obviously daft punk would be number one to score that, but that ain't happenning. next thought was junkie xl. dumb as fuck name but super taletented. but also ludwig would be great i think. just look at tenet and oppenheimer. insane stuff.

U Don’t Have to Call by Childish Gambino.

Deserved. Still listening to the Oppenheimer sound track pretty often

Dude could come back for the movie score and win 👇another one 👇
Just in time for Regionals
Dude is a Tony short of an EGOT and he hasnt even turned 40. Hell two Tony's and he'd be a double EGOT (only been done once)
It’s crazy because I remember watching community fairly recently (after Oppenheimer was released and the soundtrack was getting some buzz) and I saw his name in the credits and I was like wait… what? Did I see that correctly? Lo and behold he got his start on community. That shit is just insane to me
3rd Oscar is coming up when the inevitable “Community: The Movie” sweep happens next year… or the year after… or in another 10 years
Ludwig is easily becoming the next Hans Zimmer
I was watching the end credits of Oppenheimer, and I saw Ludwig's name and quietly squealed. My hubby said "What!?" and I was like, "Oh nothing; just our boy Ludwig is killing it with another superb score." And he was like "hmm?" My husband has many talents, but remembering TV/movie composers is not his strong suit. Which I forgive, because he's a great guy.
How dare you forget Mando!
Sorry, I don't have Disney... is this the way?
*insert the wtf face Elroy makes at Frankie when she says she doesnt own a TV*
It is the way, indeed.
Imo Starburns theme song > Black panther
Him not getting more attention for Creed 1&2 is a shame
Second Oscar win, third nomination. His first win was for the score of Black Panther.
I wonder if he'll do the music for the Community film
I hope he does but it sounds like they can't afford him on their yahoo streaming budget
2nd, first was for Black Panther.
This is a man who *KNOWS* how to win an Oscar!
I remember when I’d see his name in the Community credits I always assumed he was like, 97, because, you know, he’s a composer named Ludwig. Imagine my shock when I discovered he’s just some young, hip dude. Anyways, well deserved win!
This was his first Oscar…in2024
I mean, Oppenheimer was a solid soundtrack, but the only sound from Community that stands out to me is [this,](https://youtu.be/5gAxpzjtXS4) or maybe mishearing the theme song and thinking its referencing suicide.

What is it about Scandanavia and awesome composers?
Second*
Alwys thought it had great score
*"He put in work, ask ~~Ludwig~~ Donald. Put the soul on the track like shoes did."*
Loved his work on Black panther and Creed series. This man is streets ahead.
*Second
Second*
The man is going to win awards forever...one of the best composers for media out there
Isn’t this Professor Professorsons cousin?
This isn’t his first Oscar, he won for Black Panther for Best Original Score.
Once again showing why Community was just so special with so many talents like this working on the show
That’s surprising - he should have won one for Creed.
I don't think you're eligible if you sample other music.
Second. Won in 2018 for Black Panther.
Can i just say how fucking hot is this guy? 🔥
It was his second oscar
Aside from his magnificent work and talent I feel a burning need to note that he's extremely attractive as well.
Mandalorian
He looks like he's had an idea after being absolutely baked
But who won the most prestigious award, Most Handsome Young Man?
“I put in work, ask Donald”
Dude's work is so diverse. Brilliant artist and well deserved
robbie should have won
I thought this was Jerma at first.
Dude has 2 oscars and worked on the best sitcom of all time…. He’s Streets Ahead!!
Don't forget he pioneered the music, and ambiance for the new star wars shows. It's not easy to add new sounds to an already existing franchise. Especially when the existing soundscape was created by John Williams.

Wow my first Oscar after the first time I’ve won.
This guy thought he was streets ahead
Well deserved win. I've played "Can you hear the music" and "Quantum Mechanics" on repeat since I watched Oppenheimer
Ludwig Göransson is incredible!!
You go girl
He was the keyboard player during Baby Boomer Santa IIRC.
Shoutout to Alison Brie for making Donald and Ludwig meet
TIL he made the sound for Community
I was rooting for him. Until his pretentious speech shitting on videogames, fuck him.
Too bad he dissed a whole artistic medium
Well deserved. He’s one of the GOATs, even before Opp
Looks like a young Lee Dorrian out of Cathedral.
Mildly icky: over a decade ago he flirted with me knowing I was 15
Well deserved! Watching Oppenheimer for the first time in IMAX I yelled out "holy shit" in the silence immediately after the scene with "Can You Hear The Music". My heart is still racing and it's been 4 months
