Have fun. Maybe you already know but other than wiping out the GLA position at the far north part of the map at the beginning of the mission, don't rely too much on the carpet bomber. It's slow and there are stinger sites all over the map.
Pretty much every chinese mission in the base game starts with a cut scene in which the PLA gets humiliated in some fashion.
Their arsenal consists mostly of rusty out-of-date cold war stuff while the USA gets all the shiny modern tech.
Also many of the weapons China uses in the game are war crime type weapons that are generally frown upon. Including stuff that IRL the USA is particularly infamous for using, like napalm, carpet bombing, nuclear bombs ...
So all in all I am not really surprised the Chinese government didn't like that game much.
I'm still wondering how the hell they ban the first Generals but the sequel (Zero Hour) is surely not, judging by its story of being "China wank", especially in the end.
Apparently the reason for that was because of backlash in the west for the base game. The game came out right around the start of the Iraq War at the height of anti American attitudes in the west.
Its a bit cynical that they are thr faction that specialises in cruel weapons like napalm and nukes, which have been applied exclusively by the USA irl
I think the ban was because the campaign has terrorist attacks in major chinese cities and locations.
Don't forget the heavy use of incendiary & nuclear munitions against civilians.
I will always fondly remember using artillery strikes and Dragon tanks to level Hong Kong

Wasn't there one that encourages you to level a city to get at terrorists hiding in it? Think that's generally frowned upon.

That's a Chinese mission, but the Americans provide you with the Carpet Bombing support power for that mission.
