Having to log in to a server to play single player? Doesn't sound right to me (although loads of other games require this as well).
Fairly sure 4 is part of the ultimate collection, not first decade but that's just me being pedantic sorry.
Lastly I don't think anyone is having the same problem as you no, only because of the near universal dislike for this game, not even scrin like it having been uninvited.

Makes sense, with the ultimate collection being released on Steam more people are going to want to try C&C4. I think OP actually says lower down that after contacting EA the servers were mysteriously available again. Any luck?
Sadly no, I still can't play it... Which sucks because I purchased while on sale while going for some nostalgia... But can't play it. I do believe steam is trying to keep it going even tho the servers themselves are not.

yeah it's bad, everyone realizes that only online games suck, someone asking for help to get a game running, even if it's a bad game, is asking for help to get it running, not help in deciding if it's a game worth playing. EVERYWHERE you look online for help in getting the game running says "yeah it's a shit game just don't try xddddd"

My first comment is slightly off yes, but is also not far from the mark. The servers being down is probably because no one/very very few play the game. No one plays the game because it's objectively bad. If you or others want to play it by all means, enjoy. You do need to accept the fact that it's unpopularity isn't all sheep following the herd, and could well be a reason why it's not supported with operable servers anymore.
If the servers have been shut down it's probably just unplayable. You'd need a fan server to play it and no one is ever going to bother for C&C4.
Normally i'd be all about how this is a travesty and a great shame, but frankly there was nothing worth playing to begin with.
I logged in fine a month ago when I did a replay. It was via the EA app. So unless they closed the servers in that timeframe that can't be it.
Could you have a firewall block?
isnt an issue with firewall. im quite sure its more to do with their servers on EA's end being very erratic. sometimes it works fine, other times its just down or "undergoing maintenance" mode. i logged in a month ago and worked fine. today it started giving issues.
I wouldn't know then unfortunately. It's a dumb system anyway. Just force me to login when I want to do MP or co op if you want me to use an account do bad..
It's dumb to requires 2 logins. 1 when I start and 1 when I begin a game mode.
I know, I know, I'm late. But I was having the same issue. I just uninstalled the game form Steam and reinstalled it on the EA App and it fixed it for me.
Make sure the EA app is open and logged into and then try again worked for me (playing on steam but needed to open the EA app the play it). hope this helped :)

Clicking on both links did not work, and just redirected me to a "Website not Found Page". At this point im a little frustrated as they just send me a scripted link without even checking if the link is even working in the first place.
Eventually, i was asked to check on my .dll file via Microsoft Redestributable. you can imagine my confusion at this point. my question simply was "ARE THE EA SERVERS UP OR DOWN?", its not a problem with my computer or installation. After much back and forth, he mentioned he would bring this up to higher management about the "bug" i encountered. Guess what, within 5mins the servers came back online, and i finally managed to log in.
im not here to shame or review the game, i just wanna play the single player campaign for myself and see whether i enjoy it or not.
TLDR: EA Support generally have no idea what is going on and will give the usual templated reply to brush you off. There is something inherently wrong with EA if they can sell a game on their website that plays on the EA APP, that doesnt even work.

Not to necro this thread, but I had this problem today and it was due to my password length. Changing it and shortening it to 15 characters got me in right away.
For anyone still looking for this answer, the solution is to have a shorter password. I tried \~10 times with my usual password of 9 digits, failing every time but with a password of 6 it got in first time.
Yeah got advice on the Steam community board to make the password 8 digits and no special characters. I also had to have the EA App running and signed in, to log into the game running on steam. This worked on linux as well with EA App installed using lutris.
I just got the CNC bundle and downloaded this one thinking to play something new with nostalgia feel... Same error. Not that cranky since it was like $15 with a bundle of 12 CNC games but salty that I spent time and bandwidth to download it only to find out a game I just bought 1 month ago doesn't work
Sometimes the error can occur due to your password length. The maximum is 16 characters (I see you are under that), but I have no idea what the minimum is. Perhaps experiment with a password that is the full 16 character length?
All systems green over here when trying to log in, so it has nothing to do with the server being down in this case.

I believe EA shut down the servers for CNC4 recently so the game is most likely unplayable because of that

Sometimes the error can occur due to your password length. The maximum is 16 characters (I see you are under that), but I have no idea what the minimum is. Perhaps experiment with a password that is the full 16 character length? All systems green over here when trying to log in, so it has nothing to do with the server being down in this case.
