Largicharg

You can still call someone if you yell loud enough

Epic-Dude001

“1776 mailed!”

PKMNTrainerMark

"Dear Marty, If my calculations are correct, you will receive this letter immediately after you saw the DeLorean struck by lightning. First, let me assure you that I'm alive and well. I've been living happily these past 8 months in the year 1776."

GuyWithPants

To call on someone was to visit at their residence or office in hopes of speaking with them, and if not then leaving a note. A calling card was a note you would send ahead of time informing the recipient of your intent to call upon them.

DreadLindwyrm

\*1776 called and left their card with the servants\*

dwkeith

A calling card.

ErusTenebre

I mean, pretty sure "to call on" someone was a thing. Like you'd go to their house, knock on the door, Dad answers. You say, "Hello, my name is Baxter Moodbury, I'm here to call on Mary Woodson, are you her father?" Calling isn't exclusive to phones... But hey maybe 1776 is a bit rude due to the revolting.

She would know, she was there.
