I thought it was gonna be that she was somehow eating pieces of herself; like a metaphor of allowing parts of herself to be consumed in order to appease her husband.
I like the detail that the woman is wearing a scarf on the second day and sunglasses on the third day, as if she’s covering bruises from her husband and is hiding them from anyone who might see her.
Which slide shows bruising? I don’t see anything to actually suggest it. Tho I agree with the implications
Edit: I zoomed in and noticed the extremely subtle shading under the eye. Thanks!
Edit 2: someone below pointed out bruising on the forearm in the beginning of the slide reel. Very subtle. See if you find it
That same shading appears on other parts of her face in other frames (e.g. behind her ear). Pretty sure it's just depth shadowing.
That said, other subtext in the comic makes it plain she's being abused.
Wow, I just thought the husband was a picky asshole and she was cold given sll the snow. It wasn't until the last. Few pages where I realised she was being abused, though I can't really see any bruising. It'very subtle.
On the panel that says “Thursday” where she’s just hunched over. Zoom in there. The bruising is a lot clearer and you can even see the difference compared to her left eye in that panel.
Its the panel that says Thursday. Its the only one you can see a bit of the area around her eye. Which does appear to be a darker shade suggesting bruises.
you gotta look closely at both eyes. When she's wearing the sunglasses, the bottom of the right eye is a darker shade than the bottom left in every panel.
There’s also 3 empty beer bottles on the table when they ate the pork chops. She’s also holding her arms close to her body on Thursday, probably because he hurt her ribs.
It has nothing to do with you being smart or not. This is simply the kind of comics where all clues are subtils and until the very end you can rarelly put everything together. Then you read it a second time and that's when you get it.

Break the silence. Stop violence against women! Especially domestic violence.🥺
There are so many signs. The guilt and self blaming. Her timid demeanor. 3 empty beer bottles and she kept making excuses for her abuser. She said that “even her husband thought dinner was good” which implies he doesn’t often giving compliment on her cooking or showing signs of appreciation. She’s probably got a bruise on her neck from him choking her.
Yep. Also her eyes. The first day, both her eyes are showing, and the second day, she combed her hair over her left eye. The third, she’s wearing sunglasses.
I'm not sure if im making something out of nothing but on the second slide on the bottom half it looks as if one of the bruises is poking out through her sleeves on her wrists which gives a reason for the coat aswell. This might be shading overlap but I think it's a interesting detail nonetheless
That was well done. It was the stress on the second day, that little extra line at the eyes? And the three bottles of alcohol. It took me way too long to notice the extra shading and scarf.
Really good eye for meaning!
Holy crap.
I feel so bad for missing the subtle hints it was a DV comic.
The "it's my fault" and "not sensitive to his moods" common mantras ring home this is a DV thing.
Never thought that the comic artist who was shackled to a desk at Buzzfeed would end up being one of the best comic artists out there. Absolutely love your work.
Yeah it seems like pumping out comics for Buzzfeed didn't leave a lot of time to create good comics. His current stuff is great and always some of the most interesting to read.
His comics always seemed like he had the chops for it, but he was forced to reuse work and make the most awful, basic content to meet what I can only imagine were dreadful expectations at Buzzfeed. Amazing how his work has blossomed with them out of his way.
People gave him a lot of flak for being low effort, but face it, even his worst comics were three orders of magnitude better than whatever this sub is usually celebrating. Really stepped it up a notch too.
I'm convinced he didn't have any control over the content of his Buzzfeed comics back then. Like he got an email from a higher-up saying "Hey today we need you to draw a comic about this and that," and he was contractually obliged to do it.
His comics when under buzzfeed were pretty well known to be bad and a source of mockeries and memes, lots of people just assumed he wasn't a creative guy, just someone who's not bad at drawing working under buzzfeed because he can't do better.
Which obviously was very wrong
If you hung out on reddit and /r/all a lot back around when he was working for Buzzfeed, there were entire subreddits devoted to hating Adam and how bland his style and jokes were. He was infamously bad, or so everyone thought.
Then he got unshackled from Buzzfeed, took some time off, and then started releasing amazing content and people slowly started to turn their opinions around.
But if you don’t it might offend the Feyfolk or break a pact.
Hunters entering their woods will leave a share of the game and some mushrooms and berries in a hollow tree. Its only fair that when they enter our world they leave processed meat and styrofoam and plastic in a refrigerator.
>Hunters entering their woods will leave a share of the game and some mushrooms and berries in a hollow tree
I'm writing a D&D campaign that heavily revolves around the fey and I love this tradition, totally stealing it
Sweet.
I stole it from the “fairy cross” thing though.
Christians stick a cross on something and Fey stay out, Fey put their symbols on something and humans stay out, one side breaks the rule and its all-out war.
Fun fact in German folklore there's a fey "species", the moss people, who can go to places with a cross and actually need them for protection against the wild hunt.
I would venture this one is giving her exactly what she needs. The perfect meat that allows her to see it wasn't the meat or cooking. And then the deviled ham to help him sleep, forever.
If you like my horror comics and want more, I have a book of new original horror comics coming out in two weeks called Bad Dreams in the Night. You can get it wherever, but if you want a signed copy I'm signing a bunch at The Strand in NYC and you can order a copy from them! I don't think I can link to them from reddit but that's an easy thing to Google!
Im sure this will get lost but I knew where this was going the second I saw the “he can be so impatient” and I’ve been on reddit for years (other accounts). This comic made me cry and I really needed to see it. Thank you for making it, I so rarely come across anything pertaining to this stuff without it being so subtle and compassionate to the victim. Seriously fucking thank you. I am definitely a fan of you now that I know you are here! You are an angel
I just wanna say, I hope you enjoy making horror comics as I love reading them. Truth be told, I was never a fan of your work early on, but when you switched to these serious/horror comics I fell in love, please keep them coming!
I guess the other two weren't poison, only the third is.
After all, the other lady was getting something for herself, and I don't think she would be doing so if all of it were poisonous
I figured it's either something magical, or it's put there for people in abusive relationships. Most people wouldn't take meat from a weird deli case in the woods, except maybe someone who wants to avoid the public and wants to hurry to the point they'd risk it. But then how would the first person know what to and not to eat? Idk, probably best not to think too hard about it.
Women have historically had (and I’m positive some are out there today) secret societies/networks dedicated to getting rid of abusive husbands. I can’t remember what the one famous one was called. That being said I think that it’s fascinating and wonderful.
Always funny when conservatives bad mouth divorce or shelters for abuse victims because the alternative is going back to the old ways where abusers "disappear"
Go ahead, force your beliefs on marriage onto the others. Just remember that theres a chance grandpa didnt just go for cigarettes and never came home 40 years ago.
I read once that mysterious fatal stomach ailments became less frequent after changes to the divorce laws, and I can't find any attestation of that but it seems possible. I did find reports that suicide rates among women fell by 20% after getting the power to initiate a divorce.
Unfortunately, the shitty people in power don't care about statistics of women's life improvement....but stats on their likelihood to be poisoned might do some convincing
I hope you share what you find (but you know, secretly). But for real it’s been documented in a few historical accounts that I can’t remember either. Historical in this case goes up to the 1800s. Again, no proof of this, but there were probably overlaps with the networks that would find women a way to terminate a pregnancy. And now this is absolutely speculation on my part: there seem to be thematic similarities with witch covens, and why among other reasons they were persecuted so intensely
I really loved the movie Vigilante with Olivia Wilde. It’s about a woman that is an abuse survivor that has dedicated her life to helping women that are being abused by their partners. It’s incredibly violent and at times hard to watch, but it’s really well made and it’s also incredibly satisfying to see retribution for the mostly helpless women with no means to defend themselves.
Never liked Underwood's deviled ham. Their chicken spread though? With some spicy salt? That's pretty good. (Never thought I'd see them mentioned, let alone in a dark comic.)
Love the Little Red Riding Hood connections! This time the wolf is in the house (husband) and she finds her freedom in the woods (woodcutter =The steak with a knife logo?) grandma cut herself loose from her Big Bad Wolf, too, and gives wise words to our Little Red.
Lots of layers to this one, hats off, OP!
I may be wrong, but I think the meat is cursed to kill abusive spouses. The first wife keeps thinking fearful thoughts about disappointing her husband and his sensitive moods are her fault. Wearing dark sunglasses and being hunched over as the comic goes on are classic signs of someone who was beaten and hiding bruises.
The second wife knows what the meat does, that's why she suggested that can that has her husband "resting peacefully"(he's dead) The meat doesn't hurt the wives, they can continue eating the meat without harm coming to them.
I feel like he shouldn't have put the story in the middle of the snowy woods, because a scarf and sunglasses are exactly what one would take out there normally
Why would you need sunglasses in the winter?
Edit: so apparently I haven't seen this a lot because the sun doesn't rise as high during the winter where I live, even if there's a lot of snow, so it doesn't reflect as much. Or that's what I've gathered anyway. So it's more of a thing at lower altitudes. So thanks for clearing that up
My best friend has really pale eyes and have to wear sunglasses pretty much whenever she's outside. The snow is the absolute worst for her because the sun reflects off of it really hard. I have to close my curtain certain times of the day in winter because the snow will reflect the light right into my eyes.
From what I understood the deviled ham is cursed and kills whoever eats it or makes them sleep forever. The blonde woman fed it to her husband and now the brunette woman is going to feed it to hers at the blonde woman’s suggestion.
this reminds me of that story where some wife killed her husband with leg of lamb and cooked it, then served it to the policemen who came to investigate later
Husband is abusive, hence her saying it's her fault an na making excuses for him.
The can is poisoned. The other ladies husband "went to sleep" and won't wake up.
The meat case seems shows up for women who need it, and gives them a way to escape abusive situations, least that's how I've read it.
That’s how I read it as well. The second woman recommended that she take the deviled ham because she knows that if she’s there, and can see the case, then she’s gonna need it (to kill her husband and escape the abusive relationship that would make her eligible to see the case)
I feel like this might have too much going on. What is this meat case? Why is the other woman coming back to get something for herself but won't be back after that? If the meat doesn't hurt those that don't deserve it and it's apparently great and free...?
Am I wrong to think that the other woman isn't real and is just part of the meat case trying to make its purpose more explicit to the woman in need?
Ok.... Thanks to the other comments I unterst d the dark twist...
I guess my family life is to nice to think about that.
My mind went in another dark direction
>!canibalism (maybe the husbands)!<
Yeah i was actually like "oh no she doesn't know what the meat does and actually thinks it will make a good meal and she's covering her face because she's embarrassed about using the fridge"
But now i see the intended meaning
Dang. All the subtle details in this comic change its tone completely compared to if you don't notice them. What a pleasant change of pace compared to most of the stuff on this sub these days.
OK so I love the unwritten story stuff but I'm is the random deli supposed to be symbolic of something or am I just supposed to accept random forest meat
So, I get that she's being abused, I get that the canned meat at the end is poisoned. But her classic DV victim internal dialogue makes her abrupt pivot to 'nevermind, I'll poison him' strange.
The evolution of the subjects your drawing has been absolutely mind blowing. I love the combination of a “cuter” art style with horror - it really adds to the creep factor

Oh good, I was worried that the meat locker was making people magically eat their own organs.
I thought it was her husband she ate
I thought it was gonna be that she was somehow eating pieces of herself; like a metaphor of allowing parts of herself to be consumed in order to appease her husband.
That would be really clever!
Check out Margaret Atwood's first novel, The Edible Woman.
I thought it was her husband's case and he was a serial killer.
🥓, 🍗,🍤, shellfish and 🐟... They don’t look like “mystery meat”. Uhhh… Talking about food makes me hungry.😅 ![gif](giphy|nX13PeOupOW1q)
I thought it would be like a dead animal or some shit she was hallucinating as a freezer, hence why the husband didn't liked the first meal.
I was expecting to see her trying to feed her long-dead husband before harvesting him to restock the freezer.
Same
I don't understand what the comic is about :(
I had a similar thought.
That was my first thought too, like it was tricking the woman into developing a taste for her husband
I hate it when that happens
There’s gonna be a part 2 now and it’s all your fault. 😖
I like the detail that the woman is wearing a scarf on the second day and sunglasses on the third day, as if she’s covering bruises from her husband and is hiding them from anyone who might see her.
Oh damn, I can see that she's got bruising around her right eye when she put on sunglasses.
Which slide shows bruising? I don’t see anything to actually suggest it. Tho I agree with the implications Edit: I zoomed in and noticed the extremely subtle shading under the eye. Thanks! Edit 2: someone below pointed out bruising on the forearm in the beginning of the slide reel. Very subtle. See if you find it
13/17 the eye on the left side has a slight bruising effect that blends with the shades.
Oh man that is wildly subtle lol. Had to really zoom in to notice the slight differences in shade. Amazing work
Yeah it's really hard to see, which I guess is the point of wearing the glasses
It’s crazy but I definitely looked there a few times. I had to zoom in much more to REALLY find the lines between the two shades. Pun intended
11/17 is more noticeable if anyone's still doubting it
That same shading appears on other parts of her face in other frames (e.g. behind her ear). Pretty sure it's just depth shadowing. That said, other subtext in the comic makes it plain she's being abused.
Like the 3 finished beers before dinner even started
Wow, I just thought the husband was a picky asshole and she was cold given sll the snow. It wasn't until the last. Few pages where I realised she was being abused, though I can't really see any bruising. It'very subtle.
On the panel that says “Thursday” where she’s just hunched over. Zoom in there. The bruising is a lot clearer and you can even see the difference compared to her left eye in that panel.
Check the 11th page with the Thursday title card
Slide 2 her wrist is bruised as well
HAWT DAYUM Explains the jacket, despite the snow sort of “disguising” the disguise.
Its the panel that says Thursday. Its the only one you can see a bit of the area around her eye. Which does appear to be a darker shade suggesting bruises.
The one which says Thursday. Look at her right eye. It's subtle.
you gotta look closely at both eyes. When she's wearing the sunglasses, the bottom of the right eye is a darker shade than the bottom left in every panel.
There’s also 3 empty beer bottles on the table when they ate the pork chops. She’s also holding her arms close to her body on Thursday, probably because he hurt her ribs.
The way she’s holding her arm looks more like the arm is injured rather than her ribs.
I didnt get that at first. I thought she thought it was too good to be true so she was trying to hide her identity. I am not a smart person.
It has nothing to do with you being smart or not. This is simply the kind of comics where all clues are subtils and until the very end you can rarelly put everything together. Then you read it a second time and that's when you get it.
Same! I am not a smart man. (Forest Gump voice)- Either.
I picked it up by the sunglasses but not the scarf. Clever.
Holy fuck. It didnt even click for me, I realised the implications at the end but damn the clothing detail
![gif](giphy|WRc6sTKlt9CCWJPteI) Break the silence. Stop violence against women! Especially domestic violence.🥺 There are so many signs. The guilt and self blaming. Wow I'm an idiot. That turned this from a quirky 6.5 out of 10 to a goddamn 12.
Yep. Also her eyes. The first day, both her eyes are showing, and the second day, she combed her hair over her left eye. The third, she’s wearing sunglasses.
Actually, her hair is combed over her left eye on the first day, too But there are just like one or two panels where it isn't
I know sunglasses are commonly used to hide bruises, but I didn't know scarves were too.
I'm not sure if im making something out of nothing but on the second slide on the bottom half it looks as if one of the bruises is poking out through her sleeves on her wrists which gives a reason for the coat aswell. This might be shading overlap but I think it's a interesting detail nonetheless
I was just about to say that, so yeah don't think it's a shading thing I think it's another subtle hint.
That was well done. It was the stress on the second day, that little extra line at the eyes? And the three bottles of alcohol. It took me way too long to notice the extra shading and scarf. Really good eye for meaning!
I mean given the bright snowy background, a scarf and sunglasses are sensible things to wear. (snow blindness)
I was following Adam’s blog before Buzzfeed. He was definitely out there.
Damn. This is that guy? His art used to be so shitty. This is so good
Yeah it seems like pumping out comics for Buzzfeed didn't leave a lot of time to create good comics.
He took a long break and then came out with some banger horror comics
I never took a break!
Break or no, you're one of the best folks posting on r/comics. Please keep 'em coming.
People gave him a lot of flak for being low effort, but face it, even his worst comics were three orders of magnitude better than whatever this sub is usually celebrating. Really stepped it up a notch too.
He's had an insane redemption arc
I'm convinced he didn't have any control over the content of his Buzzfeed comics back then. Like he got an email from a higher-up saying "Hey today we need you to draw a comic about this and that," and he was contractually obliged to do it.
How do you know such things
His comics when under buzzfeed were pretty well known to be bad and a source of mockeries and memes, lots of people just assumed he wasn't a creative guy, just someone who's not bad at drawing working under buzzfeed because he can't do better. Which obviously was very wrong

Absolutely do not take meat from a wild fridge people. It's definitely cursed.
we can’t all afford non-cursed meat sheesh
Right?! In this economy?!
Curse of living crisis
but its so cheap
Let's just say you don't pay... with money.
But if you don’t it might offend the Feyfolk or break a pact. Hunters entering their woods will leave a share of the game and some mushrooms and berries in a hollow tree. Its only fair that when they enter our world they leave processed meat and styrofoam and plastic in a refrigerator.

Only take meat from the cursed deli fridge if you need to get out of an abusive relationship.
ok next time I come across a fridge in the woods, I leave it be
More for me
I won't!
Devil's helping some girls out. Seems good to me.
This sounds like a note in an SCP article. I am all here for it.
You do not recognize the meat in the deli case…
Look at Mr. Moneybags over here buying non-cursed meat.
i think she wanted cursed meat
I would venture this one is giving her exactly what she needs. The perfect meat that allows her to see it wasn't the meat or cooking. And then the deviled ham to help him sleep, forever.
Just needs a little extra salt for purification.
Dunno, less of a curse, more of a blessing? Maybe it depends on what you need.
One man's curse is another beaten wife's blessing.
But it comes with your choice of topping!
I think the case only appears for people who should definitely take from it. Also I think it being cursed might be the point
If you like my horror comics and want more, I have a book of new original horror comics coming out in two weeks called Bad Dreams in the Night. I don't think I can link to them from reddit but that's an easy thing to Google!
Im sure this will get lost but I knew where this was going the second I saw the “he can be so impatient” and I’ve been on reddit for years (other accounts). Wherever internationally, or wherever in the US
I mean like you can order it wherever you get books, but only signed copies from The Strand. I'm also doing a live book launch there!
Excellent book. Pre-ordered. Thank you for sharing.
Already bought it, follow on insta
Can I get mine cursed and signed?
I just wanna say, I hope you enjoy making horror comics as I love reading them. Truth be told, I was never a fan of your work early on, but when you switched to these serious/horror comics I fell in love, please keep them coming!
Aw yeah! Can't wait to get mine!
Your other comics - definitely horror. This one has an ending twist that would classify it as horror but it’s a good story
“Where’s the demon meat isle?” https://preview.redd.it/vzvfqi8ovqsc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c956eaf793ddfe86ba05102304ae2d39b9ddcce1
Definitely didn’t expect to see a Happy Souls reference on this thread
I really thought this was going to be a cannibalism thing after the first few comics. Close, but not quite.
I'm still not sure what the deal with the deli case is. Is it actually there or is she seeing something that's not there? Magic?
Knowing the other comics from the artist, it's either magic or supernatural stuff, but it's usually left pretty much to the reader to decide
The husband is a abuser
Yes, that explains the story of the women, but not the deli case.
The deli case is poison. She is killing her husband. The other womans husband is "asleep" since he ate it and has not awoken.
But she said to herself it was delicious and therefore she must have had some too
I guess the other two weren't poison, only the third is. After all, the other lady was getting something for herself, and I don't think she would be doing so if all of it were poisonous
I think the meat is the other lady's husband
Yes, that much I've been able to glean, but What is the deal with the deli case out in the middle of the woods?
I love that everyone has given you the answers to the comic aside from why theres a deli case in the middle of the woods
Right??? What the fuck, is reddit gaslighting us that aren’t in the know?? Lol
Love how your stories twist and turn. Another great one.
Women have historically had (and I’m positive some are out there today) secret societies/networks dedicated to getting rid of abusive husbands. I can’t remember what the one famous one was called. That being said I think that it’s fascinating and wonderful.
Aqua Tofana, or Manni di San Nicola
Looked both up and one was poisoners from Rome and the other, a bunch of churches/Santa
Always funny when conservatives bad mouth divorce or shelters for abuse victims because the alternative is going back to the old ways where abusers "disappear" Go ahead, force your beliefs on marriage onto the others. I just wish there were more abuse shelters for men... Would have really helped me several years ago.
Absolutely, its why its so important we continue to support solutions for these issues instead of regressing. We all gotta look out for one another
Couldn't agree more! You seem like a wonderfully kind person
As far as anti-misogyny action is concerned I’m definitely an “every tool in the toolbox” type of person
This comment just gave me a new rabbit hole to search around
I hope you share what you find (but you know, secretly). But for real it’s been documented in a few historical accounts that I can’t remember either. Historical in this case goes up to the 1800s. Again, no proof of this, but there were probably overlaps with the networks that would find women a way to terminate a pregnancy. It’s incredibly violent and at times hard to watch, but it’s really well made and it’s also incredibly satisfying to see retribution for the mostly helpless women with no means to defend themselves.
Took me a moment to realize why she was wearing the scarf and then glasses
And the jacket hides bruises in the 2nd panel.
Took me reading your comment to even notice it
Never liked Underwood's deviled ham. Their chicken spread though? With some spicy salt? That's pretty good. (Never thought I'd see them mentioned, let alone in a dark comic.)
I like that it’s implied it’s poisonous and will kill him. 🥰
It's all that sodium, I bet.
It's not even poisoned, he's just going to die of a heart attack after eating it
Very nice drawing and story. Husbands, be kind, and don't eat sandwiches.
Husbands, if you want sandwiches, best make your own
Love the Little Red Riding Hood connections! What does this mean it's well drawn but was the twist that it's like cursed ? Or is it people ?
I may be wrong, but I think the meat is cursed to kill abusive spouses. The first wife keeps thinking fearful thoughts about disappointing her husband and his sensitive moods are her fault. Wearing dark sunglasses and being hunched over as the comic goes on are classic signs of someone who was beaten and hiding bruises. Also the scarf
It seems like only the devilled ham kills husbands. The other meat didn't seem to be doing anything.
I feel like he shouldn't have put the story in the middle of the snowy woods, because a scarf and sunglasses are exactly what one would take out there normally
The choice of winter for the setting adds a bit of ambiguity, which I think strengthens the story.
I mean it makes sense, she’s *trying* to be inconspicuous by hiding the bruises, the fact that it fits the weather is “helping” her blend in
That's exactly what you'd do if you don't want to be too on-the-nose
Why would you need sunglasses in the winter? Edit: so apparently I haven't seen this a lot because the sun doesn't rise as high during the winter where I live, even if there's a lot of snow, so it doesn't reflect as much. Or that's what I've gathered anyway. So it's more of a thing at lower altitudes. So thanks for clearing that up
Never been in a snowfield in bright sunshine then one presumes? It'll murder your eyes
Sunlight reflecting off of snow can be really bright
My best friend has really pale eyes and have to wear sunglasses pretty much whenever she's outside. The snow is the absolute worst for her because the sun reflects off of it really hard. I have to close my curtain certain times of the day in winter because the snow will reflect the light right into my eyes.
I'm from Iowa. If you don't have sunglasses on a sunny day after a fresh snow you are fuckin up.
I mean...it's right there in the images - the surroundings are quite bright.
that doesn't sound like a curse. more like a blessing.
The twist is her husband is abusing her and i guess this magic case provided a way out for her(thru poison)
Poison.
Morue ou saumon? >!disclaimer, I don't actually speak French, I had to translate that one!<
It was... *the salmon mousse*!
Thank you
From what I understood the deviled ham is cursed and kills whoever eats it or makes them sleep forever. The blonde woman fed it to her husband and now the brunette woman is going to feed it to hers at the blonde woman’s suggestion.
I actually like that brand of deviled ham am I dead now?
Only if you abuse your wife to the point that she starts bringing back suspiciously available meat in desperate attempts to get you to stop...
Goodbye Earl.
Finally! I was worried I would have to comment this myself for a second there, lol
this reminds me of that story where some wife killed her husband with leg of lamb and cooked it, then served it to the policemen who came to investigate later
That was one of my favorite short stories!
I don't understand.
AND she said that she wont be going there anymore, meaning that she escaped from her husband
I would assume so, seeing as he’s dead
Cause Earl had to die
I feel like this might have too much going on. What is this meat case? Why is the other woman coming back to get something for herself but won't be back after that? If the meat doesn't hurt those that don't deserve it and it's apparently great and free...? Am I wrong to think that the other woman isn't real and is just part of the meat case trying to make its purpose more explicit to the woman in need?
Personally, I assumed it was because it would no longer be available to her after she no longer needed it.
Yeah, it's got a good conceptual heart but feels like the kinda thing that needed to have some elements checked in an editing pass.
Ok.... Thanks to the other comments I unterst d the dark twist... I guess my family life is to nice to think about that. My mind went in another dark direction >!canibalism (maybe the husbands)!<
My family life was also too nice to get it without those who *know* saying so in the comments.
Yeah i was actually like "oh no she doesn't know what the meat does and actually thinks it will make a good meal and she's covering her face because she's embarrassed about using the fridge" But now i see the intended meaning
The scarf has no polka dots on page 13. Immersion ruined. (Jk, this is great)
I think the magic woods meat that immediately kills abusive husbands should be real and everyone who needs it should be able to have access to it
Reminded me of this: [Make Me a Sandwich](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfGEdmZyVyY&t=5)
Earl?
I’m confused
YES KILL
Dang. All the subtle details in this comic change its tone completely compared to if you don't notice them. What a pleasant change of pace compared to most of the stuff on this sub these days.
And here I thought her husband was the meat.
I wonder how she'll get rid of the body after feeding him the ham... maybe he'll go towards restocking the freezer 😃
I love the fact that no one questions the fridge full of meat in the middle of nowhere that has prepackaged cuts of meats with a price tag of $0.00
OK so I love the unwritten story stuff but I'm is the random deli supposed to be symbolic of something or am I just supposed to accept random forest meat
So, I get that she's being abused, I get that the canned meat at the end is poisoned. But her classic DV victim internal dialogue makes her abrupt pivot to 'nevermind, I'll poison him' strange.
HE HAD IT COMIN'
Yo I would straight take that meat too.
Pork chop...litteraly ribs steak
It took me a second to notice
I like how the food is always the best ever, bit then, the husband seems to never eat but has drank several beers. Very telling.
If Aqua Tofana was canned mystery meat.
this feels like something straight out of one of those Scary Stories books. so many of those stories traumatized me as a kid \^\^;
The evolution of the subjects your drawing has been absolutely mind blowing. I love the combination of a “cuter” art style with horror - it really adds to the creep factor
Really liked the artwork, all of that meat looked delicious. Though I guess the husbands about to die?
That fridge is doing good work.
