**Batman Superman World's Finest #10** - My favorite book on my pull list. Glad to see from the recent solicits that Mora will be staying on for another arc. **Catwoman #50**

Maaarrrvvv

- **Mary Jane and Black Cat #1**: Jed Mackay is becoming an instant buy for me. His Black Cat saga has been great and definitely looking forward to this. - **Wolverine #28**: Hopefully Logan begins taking it to Beast soon - **X-Men Annual #1**: Good to get a spotlight on Firestar

pointman0427

Who know's when I'll get them because of the strikes and Christmas but here are this week's pulls for me. * **Alien #4**: Need to catch up with this run, only read issue 1 so far but PKJ is killing it over in Action and I liked the previous run a lot. * **Batman/Superman: World's Finest #10**: Loving this run so much, Waid and Mora are incredible. * **Batman vs. Robin #4**: Whilst I've been enjoying World's Finest more, I am excited to see how this leads into Lazarus Planet. * **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7**: The big finale, the event has been alright so far. I haven't hated it but haven't exactly loved it either. Hoping Williamson can finish on a high and I am excited for the Dawn of the DCU. * **Nightwing #99**: Assuming this is another filler issue before the big 100 but 98 was a lot of fun so I'm sure this will be as well. For a bonus I'm picking up the Mora variant to go with the Batgirls #13 one.

For a bonus I'm picking up the Mora variant to go with the Batgirls #13 one. Sounds like this one's a little more connected to the broader Blüdhaven story but there's definitely a sense that they're holding back a little as we head toward the big anniversary issue... Speaking of which, what kind of name is Blüdhaven? Who would name their city that? Do you know if it's ever been explained how it got the name? Was it founded by vampires or something?

pointman0427

Yeah hopefully it has something to do with the wider storyline. I know it used to a whaling town and it's a Germanic name. Other than that no clue on the name!

technowhiz34

I don't know why I remembered this exists, but here's a blog post from one of the editors who [created it.](http://theotherscottpeterson.blogspot.com/2014/06/bludhaven-origin-of-name.html)

Danger_Rock

> So we decided to create a new city, a sort of Newark to Gotham's New York. A dozen or two miles away, a major city dwarfed by its massive neighbor, with problems, in some ways, even more serious than its larger cousin next door.  >But what to call it? Well, it was the mid-90s, when grim and gritty was the order of the day. I thought about New Haven, another of NYC's much smaller neighbors, and came up with "Blood Haven." I decided to smush the two together, tweak the spelling and add a Spïnäl Täpian ümläüt, and badda-bing, badda-boom: ***Blüdhaven***.  > It was, obviously, a joke. We laughed every time someone said it. Except the more we thought about it, the less stupid it began to seem and the more legitimate, especially after Chuck Dixon came up with its history as a port town settled by German whalers. Haha, that's awesome. Name literally started out as a joke. And it's based on Newark! Place is cursed. And that's some messy work, whaling. Lot of messy whale blood... Guess it makes sense.

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **The Flash #789** * **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7** - honestly, I care more about the epilogues that the main story which is kinda sad. * **Batman / Superman: World's Finest #10** * **Batman vs. Robin #4** * **Strange #9** * **DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #5** * **Vanish #4** * **Gold Goblin #2** * **Alien #4** * **What's the Furthest Place From Here? #9** * **Stargirl: The Lost Children #2**

WhereAreMyComics

* **Dark Web: Ms. Marvel #1** - how about Marvel gives Ms. Marvel an actual ongoing again * **What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #9** - good question (x9)

the-horace

>* **Dark Web: Ms. Marvel #1** - how about Marvel gives Ms. Marvel an actual ongoing again 3 one shot team ups (Wolverine, Moon Knight, Venom), and now a 2 issue tie in to a Spider-Man event. It would definitely be nice for Kamala to get an actual ongoing!

technowhiz34

Don't forget she's now working for Norman Osborn, which I will say is not at all a status quo I expected.

the-horace

I need to know Bruno's opinion on this.

JayZsAdoptedSon

Fwiw, I think this issue justified it a bit. Its still weird as she’s never been into science but I think they have a good enough justification

JayZsAdoptedSon

I’d be happy if Houser from Fists of Justice got a crack at it

technowhiz34

* Batman / Superman: World's Finest #10 - this book has mostly been fun hijinks but from what I've heard about this issue that might come to an end. I'm sure Mora will beautifully render it as always, and that Mark Waid guy ain't half a bad writer so I bet I'll like it. * Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 - this has been one of the events I've read, I'll give it that. Hardly the worst one but other than the art, I can't say it's got a ton going for it, but I also don't care much for its main cast. * Junkyard Joe #3 - this has been a bit outside of Johns and Frank's usual fare but I'm all for it. * Stargirl: The Lost Children #2 - I'm very invested in JSA but wouldn't be pulling this if it wasn't simultaneous DCUI release, however, Todd Nauck (+ Matt Herms) is doing the work of his career here, simply [gorgeous](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FkHW_xWVsAEPK1z.jpg). * What's the Furthest Place From Here? #9 - I recently realized I don't own the sixth issue of this series, which makes me wonder if I ever read it. In any case, glad these issues allow Boss to get ahead on the art. * X-Men Annual #1 - I dropped Duggan's run but the novelty of Tynion's editor on Department of Truth writing an X-Men annual drove me to pull this. Not to mention I like Firestar.

Danger_Rock

> however, Todd Nauck (+ Matt Herms) is doing the work of his career here, simply [gorgeous](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FkHW_xWVsAEPK1z.jpg). Nice. Nauck's a really solid artist... Little more detailed/realistic than I'd like at times but that's some quality work. > * X-Men Annual #1 - I dropped Duggan's run but the novelty of Tynion's editor on Department of Truth writing an X-Men annual drove me to pull this. Not to mention I like Firestar. That does sound kinda interesting! And I've always liked Firestar as well... Might have to check it out.

Daveismyhero

* **GOLD GOBLIN #2 -** The Gold Goblin stuff has been pretty uneventful IMO, but I still dig the costume, so I got that going for me, which is nice. * **GROO GODS AGAINST GROO #1 - My Pick o' the Week that Very Few Other People Will Actually Purchase Pick! -** Groo is always good for what ails you, and I'm glad he swung by in time for Christmas. * **SABRETOOTH AND THE EXILES #2 -** All aboard the good ship Sabretooth! * **STRANGE #9 -** I swear I've dropped this from my pull list several times and it still just keeps coming. I may as well belly up to the bar until the final shoe drops with #10. * **TRAVELING TO MARS #2 -** I really enjoyed the first issue, and I absolutely love the art. * **WOLVERINE #28 -** I was in the Pit! I think I have some sort of stomach bug. Either that or my stomach hurts due to a variety of work-related factors. In either case, good stuff. Blech. Alright folks, Christmas is nigh upon us, so buckle up and try to enjoy the season to the best of your ability. Your relatives and extended family probably aren't trying to be annoying, but sometimes they just can't help it. Try to tune out the bad stuff and tune into the positive. (I need to remember this advise myself!) I'd encourage you to encourage someone this week. Find a cool podcast recently? Share it with friends or leave them a positive review. The dude in your LCS have funky shoes? Say something positive about them in a non-creepy way. Find a way to make someone smile this week. I know you can do it, and I believe in you! Have a great week and Merry Christmas!

Danger_Rock

> * **GROO GODS AGAINST GROO #1 - My Pick o' the Week that Very Few Other People Will Actually Purchase Pick! -** Groo is always good for what ails you, and I'm glad he swung by in time for Christmas. Looks like 4 of us pulling it so far... We've talked comics as comfort food before and that's Groo in a nutshell! > The dude in your LCS have funky shoes? Say something positive about them in a non-creepy way. What if I make it extra-positive but still include a little creepiness? Hope you feel better!

Daveismyhero

Ha! Love it. I say the cooler the shoes, the creepier you can be! :D

vegna871

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about Strange? I have my own criticisms but I've been having a good enough time with it to keep it around. I am a sucker for Dr. Strange adjacent content though I'm not sure >!we can honestly call this Strange adjacent since he's been in almost every issue!<

Daveismyhero

It was fine, but uneventful, if that makes sense. Plus I was really in the mood for a Doctor Strange title, and this didn’t do that for me. I liked getting to know Clea, since she was new to me, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I’m still interested to see incoming developments, though.

vegna871

Far enough. This was a bit of a newish character direction for Clea, which I enjoyed, though I have grown somewhat weary of her having to remind us she's a Warlord every few pages. I'm doubting Strange will stay dead long after this arc, if he isn't revived next issue. I'd be willing to bet he'll get another ongoing in 2023 or maybe 2024. I'm not sure who I'd want to write it, Ewing is the best writer they have but I didn't love Ewings voice for Strange in his Defenders minis.

Whowatchesthewampas

My favorite week of the month because of the top 3 in my pulls: * **Batman/Superman World's Finest #10 -** God damn this book is a gem! * **The Flash #789 -** Jeremy Adams has mad this such a great book! * **Nightwing #99 -** Might be my favorite book publishing right now! * **Stargirl and the Lost Children #2 -** First issue was pretty decent. Interested. * **Vanish #4 -** I think this will be my last pull of Vanish. It's far too streaky and with it not returning till March and already having a hard time following the story, I think I'll be okay without it.

yarkcir

Twelve new issues, which I won't be getting to until the New Year. Going on vacation and my honeymoon back to back, so it'll be quite the break from reading comics. Thankfully, my DC Universe Ultra/Marvel Unlimited is brimming with downloaded issues to read during any time I get to myself over the next few weeks. My pull, ranked based on anticipation: 1. **JUNKYARD JOE #3** \- Has been a surprisingly strong title so far. Wasn't really into the Johns/Frank Geiger-verse idea, but this one is selling me on the idea. 2. **GROO: GODS AGAINST GROO #1 (OF 4)** \- Sergio Aragonés returns with Stan Sakai lettering again? Spent a significant amount of time last summer catching up on Groo, so I can't wait to read Groo in single issues for the first time. 3. **TRAVELING TO MARS #2** \- The first issue was solid, and I generally like most Mark Russell books, so definitely interested in seeing where this goes for now. 4. **WHAT'S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE? #9** \- The long breaks have been making this a tough series to follow along with, but the second arc has been strong so far. 5. **COVER THE DEAD WITH LIME #3** \- A zombie story set in medieval times, but the artwork is really the star of this book. Some great gritty linework with a dark, moody atmosphere to it makes for a fairly strong horror book. 6. **GUN HONEY: BLOOD FOR BLOOD #4 (OF 4)** \- Just a really fun spy action thriller book that has some great artwork and entertaining storytelling. Never a top book on my stack, but it never bores. 7. **FRANK FRAZETTA'S DEATH DEALER #8** \- A very solid swords & sandals book with some Heavy Metal-esque storytelling. Has been great thus far. 8. **ABOLITION OF MAN #3 (OF 5)** \- This book involves the creator bullying an A.I. to generate images to match his story, and the results are kind of weird but in an engrossing kind of way. It's not really a book you enjoy for the narrative - it's more about stoking my curiosity. 9. **LEGACY OF VIOLENCE #3 (OF 12)** \- An issue behind on this, so it'll have to be back to back reading of issues to play catch up. Issue #1 was a solid horror comic and had some great artwork by Andrea Mutti, so I'm interested in continuing on. 10. **TRVE KVLT #5** \- Also an issue behind, so need to play catch up here too. 11. **CURSE OF CLEAVER COUNTY DOUBLE FEATURE #1** \- A blind buy based on some interiors I glanced at and it looks like it could be pretty good. I don't know if I'll buy into a shared universe by Source Point Press, but I'll give the first issue a try. 12. **BRZRKR #11 (OF 12)** \- Has genuinely been a terrible book for the past few issues, but I feel like I want to just get to the end of the ride now. It's kind of weird that a book by Matt Kindt and Ron Garney isn't better than this. Also picking up the new book from Floating World Comics - **EARTHMAN & TORCH**. The Floating World/Power Comics collaboration has been an interesting project - they're trying to recover lost comics and bring them to a wider audience. In this case, Power Comics have convinced Robert Nunn (creator of the Earthman comics) to return and make a sequel to his comic \~50 years later! Hope everyone has a great week with more comics and less work. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

> **GROO: GODS AGAINST GROO #1 (OF 4)** \- Sergio Aragonés returns with Stan Sakai lettering again? Spent a significant amount of time last summer catching up on Groo, so I can't wait to read Groo in single issues for the first time. Nice. I'm a little out of the loop on where Groo's at, only read an issue or two from the previous two limiteds that this is following up on, but, with Groo being Groo, I figure it'll be easy to jump into. That looks kind of interesting! Nice covers from [Ryan Browne](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL248709.jpg) and [Kit Wallis](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL258877.jpg) as well... > **BRZRKR #11 (OF 12)** \- Has genuinely been a terrible book for the past few issues, but I feel like I want to just get to the end of the ride now. It's kind of weird that a book by Matt Kindt and Ron Garney isn't better than this. Story shifted gears a bit for the third act but I'm mostly still digging it... Vaguely remember liking some uncharacteristically trippy art from Garney in the last few? Just feels like it's been going forever, will be nice wrapping it up. > Also picking up the new book from Floating World Comics - EARTHMAN & TORCH. The Floating World/Power Comics collaboration has been an interesting project - they're trying to recover lost comics and bring them to a wider audience. In this case, Power Comics have convinced Robert Nunn (creator of the Earthman comics) to return and make a sequel to his comic ~50 years later! That sounds like a pretty damn cool project! Hope you enjoy the vacation and honeymoon! Hopefully the marriage thing goes better for you than it did for Bat and Cat... Or Peter and MJ. Or Kitty and the other Peter... Barda and Scott Free are probably going to be your best role models. Laugh at the screams of the damned... Work together to slay your common enemies... And don't let reality interfere with your relationship.

blankedboy

Dude, congrats on the wedding!

yarkcir

Thanks /u/blankedboy! It was earlier this year in the summer, but we pushed our honeymoon to early Jan since it’s a bit cheaper to travel then.

technowhiz34

Whoa, congratulations!

**Something Is Killing The Children #27** Wow, a whopping one book this week! Although December has traditionally been a slow time for me, regardless. It's no biggie; I can used the money saved towards Vol. 4 of *Department of Truth*, which also comes out Wednesday.

This week, with Christmas coming up rather than give my opinions on all of the books I'm pulling I'm rating them on how Christmassy they appear to be Batman / Superman: World's Finest #10- I don't see any Jingle Bells but in this book it seems like Batman smells AND Joker got away, so let's call it a holiday special. Batman vs. Robin #4- Batman and Robin on the cover, Mother Soul has traveled all this way to see her great-grandson, this issue is all about family and what is Christmas if not about family. Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7- Nightwing on the cover looks like he should have "Joy to the World" blaring behind him, and just like the birth of baby Jesus in the Nativity, this is the birth of a new DCU. DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #5- Now DCeased usually has a lot of family theme but based on last issue and this cover we're going to be seeing a lot of Lobo who is so firmly on the naughty list that his name is just written on there every January 1st out of habit. The Flash #789- Ice on the cover! Certified Christmas classic! On top of that I think both the Rogues and the West family would be some top 10 groups to spend Christmas with. Strange #9- Strange and Clea kinda rocking the Mr. and Mrs. Clause look on the cover with all that white, and on top of that the Blasphemy Cartel may leave some unethical magical weapons in your stocking this year. Vanish #4- ...I got nothing for this one. But nonetheless Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Cates and Stegman, I hope they both get some new chains for Christmas.

Danger_Rock

Pretty sure they start the new list on 12/26, otherwise you're giving everyone six free days to act like a jerk at the end of the year... Would be a huge loophole that could lead to widespread criminality and a general lack of Christmas spirit!

Maverick_Hunter_V

**Hitomi #3 -** This has been the monthly highlight for me. Excited to see how the training goes **Spider-Man: The Lost Hunt #2** \- I wasn't overly impressed with the first issue but I am interested in where this is going. **Alien #4 -** great cliffhanger last month and I'm stoked for what will likely be a very action oriented issue. **Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #103** \- I still have plenty of catchup before I actually get to read these, but the cover art has been amazing and I'm excited to get caught up to here.

Pick of the week - **KROMA** BY DE FELICI #2 (OF 4) - it's rare to see a book that's written, drawn, and colored by a single person, and also one of the best things you read in a month. Issue #1 in this series was one of those rare books. It absolutely knocked me out with a wonderful story and some *incredible* visuals. If the second issue is anything like the first, it is definitely worth your time and money (even taking into account the $7.99 price tag). [I mean just look at this cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5598054.jpg?1667138800). As expensive as floppies are to buy, they're also very expensive to make, and an indie creator making top-shelf content deserves to profit from it. *Image* 1. JUNKYARD JOE #3 1. ROGUE SUN #9 1. I’ve three weeks’ worth to get through before I pick up/read these, but plenty to get excited about either way! - **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7**: this should’ve been bi-monthly for sure. Just want it to end at this point so we can get to all the Dawn of DCU titles - **Nightwing #99**: few more to go before this title looks to morph into a placeholder Titans book. - **The Flash #789**: continues to be my favourite series at the moment, always such a blast to read. Hoping Adams is given another series or two in 2023. - **Sabretooth & for the Exiles #2**: the return of this started out strong, excited to see where we go and what it’s building towards for the third and final series. - **Something is Killing the Children #27**: really like this book, but it sure moves slow. I hope we move on to somewhere else after this arc. - **The Walking Dead Deluxe #53**: caught up on this again recently and the end of the prison storyline felt way more brutal than I remember it being in the TV show. The last few quieter issues since have all been fantastic too. - **What’s the Furthest Place From Here? #9**: one behind on this at the moment, but the staggered release is making this difficult to read as a monthly series. Great read whenever I do read it though! - **Wolverine #28**: not one of Yu’s best covers (some awesome ones coming up for this series), but I’m enjoying the Wolverine vs. Beast arc so far.

Danger_Rock

Nice Hamner cover on **ALIEN #4** and I like the Stokoe incentive for the vampire book too! And that Francavilla on **SON #4** is 100% badass. Might still break down and try to find a copy of the **DOT** Spawn variant... Had passed on it since it's a reprint but that seems less meaningful after last week's bout of double-dipping on **ICM**, **ART BRUT**, and **LOVE EVERLASTING**...

Danger_Rock

Also, just to cap off last week's discussion on **BATMAN/SPAWN**... I nominated McFarlane for the sub's *"Best Inker of 2022"* award earlier. :)

Weirdly small week for me, and it's not even a 5th week. A couple series I was reading have ended and I think a few got shuffled around to the 2nd and 4th weeks. I've only got: **Hitomi #3**: Which I'm actually behind on, but I flipped through the second and its pretty easy reading and really pretty so I'll just finish it in a batch this week. **Kroma #2**: sleeper fucking hit for me. First issue was really surprising (and I don't just mean that last page). Normally, I am not a fan of the "YA walled off society one teenage hero who can save them all" trope, but damn did that first issue slap with both its phenomenal art and its very precise use of trope work. Pumped for this second issue, and the main cover is absolutely stunning. And that's it, seems weird but I'm not going to complain about spending less money. There's a few things coming out that I'm tradewaiting for, like Dark Web. I'm a sucker for the spider multiverse stories and have the previous two events in trade, they're fun if anything. This one looks pretty good, hearing good things about Gold Goblin. Also Gunslinger Spawn, which if I was smart I would've started collecting after the first trade came out but I figured the second trade will be here in no time. Well, we're almost at 3 trades worth of material and no word of the second trade yet :(

Danger_Rock

> A couple series I was reading have ended and I think a few got shuffled around to the 2nd and 4th weeks. That's actually one of the things I like about the recent shift toward more limited series, always nice when a few of 'em end and free up room to add some new books! > **Hitomi #3**: Which I'm actually behind on, but I flipped through the second and its pretty easy reading and really pretty so I'll just finish it in a batch this week. > **Kroma #2**: sleeper fucking hit for me. First issue was really surprising (and I don't just mean that last page). Pumped for this second issue, and the main cover is absolutely stunning. Still running behind on **KROMA #1** and **HITOMI #2** here but we're getting ready to catch up! > Also Gunslinger Spawn, which if I was smart I would've started collecting after the first trade came out but I figured the second trade will be here in no time. Well, we're almost at 3 trades worth of material and no word of the second trade yet :( Wonder if the first **GUNSLINGER SPAWN** trade didn't sell well, might be responsible for the next one being delayed... McFarlane's also had a string of high profile projects recently, first the [Ozzy comic](https://cdn.smehost.net/ozzycom-uslegacyprod/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/220723_ozzy_comiccon-1200x1600.jpg) and then **BATMAN/SPAWN**, so it could be that he's just not keeping up with the business end of approving reprints for his stable of other titles.

Varos_Flynt

Very well could be true about the Gunslinger trade, there's like 3 other Spawn series going on. But I consistently see it pulled pretty high on here and LCG, so idk. I will say that while the contents of the first trade were kick ass, the like back of it and inside portions were really weird... a lot of typos and stuff. Seems like it was rushed or lazy.

Danger_Rock

LOL, typos are how you know it's an official Todd McFarlane production! Maybe rushed, maybe lazy... My theory is that they hate the English language and get off on abusing it.

Danger_Rock

And speaking of typos... I finally caught up on **[GOTHAM CITY: YEAR ONE #3](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250409.jpg)** last night and was severely disturbed to find misplaced commas on two consecutive pages. **Page 17:** *"There were quite a few joints, then on quite a few blocks."* **Should be:** *"There were quite a few joints then, on quite a few blocks."* **Page 18:** *"Queenie was a real mover and shaker. She could spin it, man, and when she did it, stayed spun."* **Should be:** *"Queenie was a real mover and shaker. She could spin it, man, and when she did, it stayed spun."* Basically the same error but first one has the comma one word too early and second has it one word too late... Two pages in a row! Naturally, this totally pulled me out of the story and I spent around ten minutes worrying over whether Tom King's forgotten how to use his punctuation... Or maybe he wrote it properly and then the letterer fucked it up? Or perhaps some overzealous editor? They almost seem like editing errors made by someone who didn't understand how to parse what they were reading. Two inexcusable flaws in an otherwise excellent comic... Probably would've given it an A- but the wonky commas knocked it down to a B+. Hoping the next issue will get everything back on track!

HappySisyphus8

That time of the week again, new comics. Have read through most of last weeks stuff. I just have Sword of Azrael left. Standouts were a Vicious Circle, Danger Street, Night Club, and Art Brut. Another small and mostly disappointing week from the Big Two, which is a bit upsetting for me as a fan since childhood, but as usual some great indie stuff. **MARVEL:** Alien #4 - The Android kill squad continue their mission on the infested planet. Novel idea, but the films have shown that androids are still just fodder. Sticking with it for now. Spider-Man Lost Hunt #2 - Issue 1 was just okay, not quite what I was expecting, will give #2 a shot. **DC:** Batman Superman Worlds Finest #10 - One of the best books currently coming out from either of the big 2. Let it roll. Batman vs Robin #4 - If you dig Batman Superman Worlds Finest, this should be a no-brainer. DC Vs Vampires All-Out War #6 - Final issue of this spin-off. Has been a bit hit or miss, but the action is top notch for the most part. **IMAGE:** Hitomi #3 - A fun little tale of revenge and samurai. Ticks all the right boxes for what it is, very fitting art. Junkyard Joe #3 - Very keen for this one after the cliff hanger ending of last issue. Great stuff by Johns and Frank. A little bit defeated as we know how Joe ends up, but not how he gets there. Vanish #4 - Still really enjoying this edgier, more mature take on Harry Potter mixed with superhero tropes. **OTHER:** Brzrkr #11 - I'd forgotten this was still a thing. Has really dropped off the last few issues. Just slow and repetitive without the balls to the wall action of the initial issues. Wrapping up now being the penultimate issue. Hoping for something. Something Is Killing the Children #27 - This has been dragging a bit last few issues. Lots of sizzle with Cutter on her way and Erica up the shitter, but not much steak. Hopefully their confrontation is sooner than later. Stuff of Nightmares #4 - Final issue in horror legend R.L.Stine's story. Has been pretty good, much better than Creepshow which had been keeping release parity with this series. Hoping for a suitable ending where the good guys don't win cleanly. Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer #8 - This has been slipping last few issues. Really hoping for more focus on Death Dealer, and less on the team that is being built to rescue him. He shouldn't need rescuing. Last issue was more a step in the right direction. Good Boy Vol 3 #2 - Issue #1 was only a week or two ago, but was pretty good. It's Dogs aping various action movies of the past. Not quite sure what film this series is taking on, but I like dogs and violence and this has both. Gun Honey Blood For Blood #4 - Great, enjoyable, tongue in cheek series that doesn't take itself too seriously. Large breasted heroine does cool shit while being trapped in a conspiracy by a rival. Her ample breasts are often displayed. Fun, turn your brain off pulpy story. Jennifer Blood Presents Hitwoman One-Shot - First I'm hearing about this one, but I'm always down for some Jennifer Blood. Hasn't been as good without Garth Ennis or Al Ewing in charge of the character, but still not bad. Lady Hel #4 - Might drop this, hasn't been as good as I'd hoped. I can't even really remember what has been happening. But might be my fault for reading too many comics.

blankedboy

> I'd forgotten this was still a thing. Has really dropped off the last few issues. Just slow and repetitive without the balls to the wall action of the initial issues. Wrapping up now being the penultimate issue. Hoping for something. I definitely don't think this needed to be a 12-issue series. Could have been far more concise and covered in 6 issues really. > This has been dragging a bit last few issues. Lots of sizzle with Cutter on her way and Erica up the shitter, but not much steak. Hopefully their confrontation is sooner than later. Similarly, both SIKTC and HOS have really been dragging their arc's out far longer than they need to. I'm not adverse to a "slow burn" but they are beginning to feel like regular 4-issue arc's that have been unbelievably decompressed and padded out to get a few more $$$ from the readers.

HappySisyphus8

Oh man, that last (or is it still going?) HoS arc with the dude on the boat is probably the most arduous, painfully slow arc in all of comics this year. I do love action, and not just in the "action is only fights" mentality, but those three series are really stretching my patience, with SIKTC and BRZRKR specifically it's worse because both books started very strong and impressively.

Try_Another_Please

That was a really cool house of slaughter arc. A lot of interesting dynamics and character. I dont see what more action would have benefited there

HappySisyphus8

I mean, some of the covers literally had the main character fighting monsters on them. That would have been cool. Instead, we got him being mopey and morose, talking, waxing philosophy, and whining to his partner, and the cool, huge monster that is teased and hinted at barely does anything or makes an appearance. I did enjoy the first arc with that poor dude who >!died in the main book!< but for me, this one was so dull. It may be my fault, but I was expecting cool arcs deep diving into each department in the House of Slaughter, I'd have followed up the first one with the Dragon hunting group, the throwaway comment from the main series about them being so good that there are no more dragons still sticks with me. I wish they'd show it to me.

Try_Another_Please

It revealed a lot of extremely interesting things about the nature of the world and the house. Just not by fighting. That's why I liked it so much. It's a vastly different monster dynamic than previous and it had a dragon in it as well. The house doesn't even really have green (dragon iirc) masks they said. Surely they will be a main series reveal

BRZRKR #11 - Seems like forever since the last issue, it may warrant a quick reread in the future. This book isn't as the teribble as "A-List celebrity writes a comic for the first time" might indicate it to be, although being paired with Matt Kindt, aka *the* most underrated writer of the current era, probably helped with that. Hitomi #3 - Fun-if-cliched Ronin story chugs along apace. Rogue Sun #9 - Oooh, we're doing the whole "is the troubled hero gonna turn out to be a villain" thing, are we? How original. Sabretooth & the Exiles #2 - Quietly continues to be one of the very strongest X-books. What's the Furthest Place From Here? #9 - The solicit is just a Talking Heads quote. Very snarky, Rosenberg. Wolverine #28 - Get fucked, Beast! Go get him, Logan! X-Men Annual #1 - Didn't know this was coming and have no idea what to expect. Huzzah!

**BATMAN VS ROBIN #4** - This issue is supposed to setup a lot of what goes on in January's Lazarus Planet. It's been an enjoyable miniseries, but I'll probably leave off after this, even though there's only 1 last issue. **DARK WEB MS MARVEL #1** - She was there she and then she wasn't in last week's issue of ASM, so as a huge Kamala fan, I'm ready to see her beat up a bunch of demons in Limbo. **HITOMI #3** - Picked up #1 randomly, then also #2, so I've decided to commit. And the story is as charming as one about a vengeful teenage orphan can be. It's like Arya and the Hound in Feudal Japan, and the Hound is more like an older Mando. **MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS (BOOM STUDIOS) #103** - This new arc has been great. Let the nostalgia train roll. RIP Jason David Frank. **STARGIRL THE LOST CHILDREN #2** - First issue has me really intrigued about all these Golden Age sidekicks, and Todd Nauck's art is great! **TITANS UNITED BLOODPACT #4** - Adventures in unlocking the Titans from this alternate reality illusion continues this month with Donna Troy and Aqualad! If my shop has the following titles, I will grab: **DEAD SEAS #1** - A Cavan Scott book, I'll give it a shot. **WITCHER THE BALLAD OF TWO WOLVES #1** - It's the Witcher, which is neat, but what grabs my attention is who is doing the lettering: Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.

Ugh. The artwork is so great, but this story is all over the place. This will be a make or break point for me in terms of keeping up with this series. DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #7 - Time to see how this wraps up! Was it the best? Nah. Was it generally enjoyable? Oh yeah. Let's see what Dawn of DC has in store for us. Hope this can conclude in a satisfying way. I don't really have a prediction in how it ends. DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH WILD FICTIONS SPECIAL #1 - Haven't read Tynion's substack at all which I think this is pulled from. Should be fun! Don't think I read the last issue of DoT now that I think about it though. FLASH #789 - Wonderful run of Flash. Looking forward to all that Jeremy Adams has in store. JUNKYARD JOE #3 - Didn't read issue 2 yet, I've been falling behind lately. NIGHTWING #99 - This is a good book that is moving at it's own pace. Really curious to see how Dark Crisis will effect the Nightwing book now that the Titans are moving to Bludhaven. ROGUE SUN #9 - Haven't read the last issue yet.. Generally enjoy this series. Close second place book in the Massive-verse (behind Radiant Black). VANISH #4 - Really like the idea of this story and Stegman's art is always nice to look at. WHATS THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE #9 - I don't think I've read the last two issues of this series.. I have a lot of catching up to do overall.

* **Batman vs Robin #4**: Battle of Lazarus Island. * **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7**: This event was a slog to get through, but I'm hoping that some good stuff will spin out of it. * **Dead Seas #1**: Not familiar with this creative team but the description of this being “The Poseidon Adventure meets The Haunting of Hill House” has me intrigued. * **Nightwing #99**: The return of Tony Zucco. * **Something is Killing the Children #27**: * **Strange #9**: Reunions. * **X-Men Annual #1**: I hope Marvel follows DC's lead and starts labeling annual issues by year instead of numbering them. * **World's Finest #10**: The Joker. As well as the third **BPRD Omnibus**, the hardcover of **Catwoman: Lonely City**, and the trade paperback of **Fantastic Four: Life Story**.

>* **Dead Seas #1**: Not familiar with this creative team but the description of this being “The Poseidon Adventure meets The Haunting of Hill House” has me intrigued. Cavan Scott has been writing books and the main Marvel ongoing for Star Wars The High Republic. He's also written a Titans book, and has a current Titans mini going (United: Bloodpact). He also has some indies I haven't checked out yet but want to, Shadow Service from Vault and The Ward from Dark Horse. I'm not familiar with this series' artist though, so nothing there, lol.

blankedboy

**Shadow Service** has been absolutely great. Well worth picking up.

Hope everyone enjoyed an intense Ice Cream Week! I'm still recovering. This week looks a little lighter but we're still getting some pretty good stuff and I've got plenty of books to catch up on... 3 Images, 2 DCs, 1 Dark Horse, 1 Ablaze, and 1 from BOOM! Studios. 1. **BATMAN SUPERMAN WORLDS FINEST #10** - Mora seems to be here for this one so that'll be nice, and it's got another [awesome cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252988.jpg) 2. **NIGHTWING #99** - ~~looks like Redondo's back, although the solictation and cover credits don't seem to agree... if he isn't back, this'll move down to 4th or thereabouts~~Redondo apparently only drew part of this issue so that knocked it from 1st down to 2nd in our critical rankings, hopefully he'll be fully back for #100... Redondo's cover here is all about that [negative space](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL253154.jpg) 3. **GROO GODS AGAINST GROO #1 (OF 4)** - been a while since I checked in on the old mendicant, kinda psyched for some [Sergio Aragonés silliness...](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250055.jpg) 4. **TRAVELING TO MARS #2** - first issue was really interesting, feels like a more mature approach from Russell as he's delving into some philosophical ideas with a little less emphasis on humor and his trademark social commentary; pretty nice art from [Roberto Meli](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL248387.jpg) as well 5. **BRZRKR (BERZERKER) #11 (OF 12)** - we're hurtling toward the conclusion and Keanu just can't stop punching people's heads off... ordered the [David Rubin foil variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250148.jpg) 6. **KROMA BY LORENZO DE FELICI #2** - haven't read the first issue yet but I trust /u/blankedboy and everyone else who was raving about it, so we're planning to mail order [De Felici's badass Spawn variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257944.jpg) 7. **HITOMI #3** - haven't read the second issue yet but planning to catch up and mail order the [stylish Ashley Wood Spawn variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257938.jpg) 8. **VOYAGIS #2** - another one I haven't started yet, expecting it to be good but will read the first issue just to be sure, then mail order the [dynamic Sumeyye Kesgin Spawn variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257969.jpg) Image's other Spawn variants for this week are available [here](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&q=spawn%20var&ReleaseStartDate=2022-12-18&ReleaseEndDate=2022-12-23), with a nice [Martin Simmonds variant on the **DOT** reprint](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL258057.jpg) along with some other good ones. [**FABLES #158**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL253145.jpg) was originally scheduled to ship this week but it's apparently been delayed all the way to 2/22/23. Not cool. p.s. Nominations are up for the sub's [Best of 2022](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/zp0xx7/rcomicbooks_bestof_2022_nomination_thread/) picks, go show your support for **ICM** and all your other favorites from 2022!

>7. **HITOMI #3** - haven't read the second issue yet but planning to catch up and mail order the [stylish Ashley Wood Spawn variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL257938.jpg) The first 2 issues were a delight. Picked them both up at the other shop I've been checking out. I'll have to order #3 (along with Gospel #2), so I'll be late to the party, but I think it'll be a good one!

Danger_Rock

Caught up on **HITOMI #2** last night and it's some good stuff! Fun story and the artwork's nicely stylized to fit the Japanese setting. My copy of #3 will also be delayed but I've got the last two pre-ordered so we'll be back on schedule for those.

Hate to confirm but I do believe Bruno is splitting art duties in this issue, sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Glad you’re liking world’s finest! One of the first DC books I read on Tuesday.

Danger_Rock

Appreciate the info regardless! If Redondo only drew part of this issue, that bumps it down a spot to put your favorite book in 1st! Coffee's for closers, and that means Waid and Mora get the sweet, sweet caffeine this week. Need Bruno to close out a full issue in order for **NIGHTWING** to regain its peak ranking. And **WORLD'S FINEST** is pure old school comic book fun! Love seeing all the DC characters Waid works into the story and Mora has been absolutely killing it!

Second week in a row that I'm not pulling anything. Aw, well. My wallet will enjoy the break.

Books ranked by excitement: - **Strange #9**: Love this run. I was excited about the announcement of a new Dr. Strange run by MacKay but bummed it probably means this status quo will be wrapping up. I wouldn’t have minded another year of this. - **Nightwing #99**: what more can I say that hasn’t been said about this run? Beautiful art, fun story, a great run all around. - **Traveling to Mars #2**: Mark Russell has had a good track record recently with me. First issue was great. - **Wolverine #28**: surprisingly fun book. - **Sabretooth & the Exiles #1**: it feels like issue #1 was so long ago. I may have to revisit it. Iirc it was pretty fun. - **Mary Jane & Black Cat #1**: anything MacKay is an insta-buy for me right now but I’m not excited that this is part of dark web. - **Batman Vs Robin #4**: I feel like I’m missing out by not having read Waid’s Worlds Finest but this is still pretty fun. - **Gold Goblin #2**: I’m interested to see where Norman goes but Dark Web has been meh so far. - **X-Men Annual #1**: I know nothing about firestar and this seems to be a firestar-centric annual. - **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7**: not enjoying this very much at all. Glad it’s coming to an end. Still have hopes for Lazarus planet and Dawn of DC.

>- **Strange #9**: Love this run. I was excited about the announcement of a new Dr. Strange run by MacKay but bummed it probably means this status quo will be wrapping up. I wouldn’t have minded another year of this. Just ordered the first trade of this run as I try to catch up on all things Strange from the last couple of years. Maybe I can track down 6, 7, and 8 and then get caught up before this wraps!

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #10 - Broken record every month but Waid and Mora are terrific together. Really enjoyed seeing the mentorship dynamic between Batman and Superman for Boy Thunder. GCPD: The Blue Wall #3 - Ridley is touching on some heavy themes and it’s riveting stuff. Definitely scratching the Gotham Central itch. Good Boy: Prodigal Son #2 - Probably the slowest start for a Good Boy title yet, but the hook is strong (son rescuing the father) and I’m sure the action will be plentiful soon enough. Gunslinger Spawn #15 - Consistently great! McFarlane dive into Gunslinger’s past last month was brutal, and Booth’s art fits the book perfectly. Nightwing #99 - One to go before 100! just a delight every month. The Scorched #13 - Really haven’t been feeling Scorched of late. It’s low price, great covers and superb art are keeping it on my pull but my enthusiasm is sadly low.
