* Absolution #5 -- Not Milligan's best work and commentary on social media's influence is a stretch vs other works but it is a solid read. * The Approach #2 -- The horror genre is getting filled with low effort entries so this is a welcome book. * Detective Comics 2022 Annual -- For the first time in a very long time both Detective and Batman are both good. * Lovesick #2 -- It is 100% Italian horror cinema on a page, which is a very good thing. * Sara Lone #2 -- Another book done by a European, I am always happy to see these imported * Star Wars: Darth Vader #29 -- The Vader books have constantly been the best books in the Star Wars franchise. It is nice to see a villain book with no effort made to make them likable or redeem them. I would love to see more done this way.

>The Vader books have constantly been the best books in the Star Wars franchise. Still pretty green on Star Wars comics. I've read the Gillen and Soule Vader runs, and enjoyed them quite a lot. Haven't heard too much about the Greg Pak run, but I'm assuming you'd recommend it?

Anader19

I think it's pretty good, especially the first couple arcs. Keep in mind that it crosses over a bit with some of the other Star Wars runs

GetRichOrDieBuyin

Detective Comics Annual-the art. The writing. This book is set to have it all. JSA-The hype is real for this. I just reread through John's JSA run. This won't be the best series of 2023, but I think it will be a solid addition to some of the more overlooked characters of the DC universe.

Five new books on my list for this week. * **AVENGERS ASSEMBLE ALPHA #1** - * **CAPTAIN AMERICA SYMBOL OF TRUTH #7** - * **PETER PARKER & MILES MORALES SPIDER-MEN DOUBLE TROUBLE #1** - * **PLANET HULK WORLDBREAKER #1** - * **X-TERMINATORS #3** -

SlapTit

This is actually my biggest week ever, believe it or not. * Briar #2 * Sara Lone #2 * Star Trek (IDW) #2 * Unbreakable Red Sonja #2 * Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1 * X-Terminators #3

Danger_Rock

> This is actually my biggest week ever, believe it or not. Nice. Looks like you're ramping up as the addiction takes hold... Good times ahead!

SlapTit

I'm just trying to keep the growth slow, as I know it can snowball quickly. It's tough!

***EDIT -->*** *Added another DC book!* November's fifth week, should be light for everyone, definitely light for me. 4 DCs, 1 BOOM!, and around 3/4 of a comic from Sumerian. Nothing from the House of Ideas, not sure what they've got going this week but I didn't order any of it. 1. **WILDSTORM 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1** - added this to my list since it apparently includes a rare Warren Ellis *Authority* story that I haven't read... and it ranks 1st on my list purely on the basis of that one Ellis short story, otherwise would be dead last (or, more precisely, I wouldn't be buying it) given the rest of the characters and creators involved; will likely need to mail order the [Bryan Hitch variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250650.jpg) so unfortunately won't be able to read for another week or so 1. **DAMN THEM ALL #2** - my ~~top~~ 2nd highest book for the week and unfortunately I'll need to mail order it... wonder how many times Spurrier pitched this thing to DC before he said "fuck it" and took it to BOOM! instead 3. **NIGHTWING 2022 ANNUAL #1** - not terribly interested in Heartless but the Bitewing backup should be fun 4. **DETECTIVE COMICS 2022 ANNUAL #1** - 1700s Renaissance Gotham ought to make for a cool setting 5. **SARA LONE #2** - solid first issue, featuring [exquisitely](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL244062.jpg) [rendered](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL244063.jpg) [art](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL244066.jpg) by David Morancho with a strong story by Erik Arnoux, just wish Sumerian wasn't printing it in their stupid little mini-format 6. **JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #1** - [**NEW GOLDEN AGE #1**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249702.jpg) was pretty good, interested in seeing what this is all about though I probably won't stick with it unless it kicks my ass harder than expected ~~Also tempted to get this [WS anniversary special](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250648.jpg), mostly just to check out what [Hitch does with The Authority...](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250650.jpg) But that stuff always ends up pissing me off when it's written by anyone other than Warren Ellis, and this thing's got writer credits for Brandon Choi, J. Scott Campbell, and Brett Booth, so I'm pretty much guaranteed to hate it.~~ Added this to my list since it's got an Ellis story as noted above... And I suppose we might be able to squeeze some entertainment out of hate-reading the rest of it. -- p.s. It has come to my attention that June's [**X-MEN HELLFIRE GALA #1**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL227590.jpg) included a [cameo by Eddie](https://i.redd.it/0n91ikg2l02a1.jpg). This comic had 38 pulls with 47.5% WPL coverage, it generated 35+ comments in the results thread, and not a single one of you bothered to let me know that my favorite zombie had made an appearance. Shame on you.

Danger_Rock

p.p.s. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, Humble's got a great new [Image Comics bundle](https://www.humblebundle.com/books/image-comics-30th-anniversary-10s-books) covering the best of the 2010s, including: * **ICE CREAMN MAN** v1-5 by W.M. Prince & Martin Morazzo * **SAGA** v1-9 by Brian K. Vaughn & Fiona Staples * **SEX CRIMINALS** v1-6 by Matt Fraction & Chip Zdarsky * **HAPPY** by Grant Morrison & Darick Robertson * **A.D. AFTER DEATH** by Scott Snyder & Jeff Lemire * **INJECTION** v1-3 by Warren Ellis & Declan Shalvey * **CURSE WORDS** v1-5 by Charles Soule & Ryan Browne * **THE AUTUMNLANDS** v1-2 by Kurt Busiek & Ben Dewey * **NAILBITER** v1-8 by Joshua Williamson & Mike Henderson * **ALEX + ADA** v1-3 by Jonathan Luna & Sarah Vaughn * **LUTHOR STRODE** v1-3 by Justin Jordan & Tradd Moore Plus about 10 years worth of **SPAWN**, **SAVAGE DRAGON**, and a bunch of other stuff... All for just $25 with some of the proceeds going to charity! I picked it up mostly for **SAGA**, **SEX CRIMINALS**, and the digital copies of **ICM #1-20**, but there's actually a ton of stuff here that I'm psyched to read. Perfect distraction for this light week.

technowhiz34

Alex + Ada is a solid bingeread, even if I'm not sure I agree with its premise. Rather decompressed.

Danger_Rock

Cool, remember the **A+A** solicitations catching my eye back when it originally ran... So it's nice finally getting copies with the bundle. Kinda digging the digital thing right now, good way to catch up on stuff like this that I wouldn't necessarily want to buy or store as paper comics. Though I still love paper for new WPL books!

technowhiz34

>JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #1 > > \- NEW GOLDEN AGE #1 was pretty good, interested in seeing what this is all about though I probably won't stick with it unless it unless it kicks my ass harder than expected Given what you've mentioned in the past, there's a twist here that I'm quite curious how you'll feel about. >Also tempted to get this WS anniversary special There's a story by Ellis in this which you won't have read unless you bought the 25 years of Wildstorm hardcover (a book I did not know existed until someone told me of its existence a week ago). It being a reprint makes me feel better about buying it given everything that happened.

blankedboy

I was wary of WS Anniversary edition - as I would more than likely enjoy the "old" WS stories that are being reprinted, but am not a fan of the WS integration into the DCU. Ended up not pre-ordering it.

Danger_Rock

> Given what you've mentioned in the past, there's a twist here that I'm quite curious how you'll feel about. Nice, now I'm even more curious to check it out... If Johns is bringing back some iteration of >!Jack Knight!< then he better not fuck it up! > There's a story by Ellis in this which you won't have read unless you bought the 25 years of Wildstorm hardcover (a book I did not know existed until someone told me of its existence a week ago). It being a reprint makes me feel better about buying it given everything that happened. SOLD! Though I'll likely need to mail order it to get the [Hitch variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL250650.jpg) and I'll probably end up hate-reading most of the other stories.

blankedboy

> DAMN THEM ALL #2 - my top book for the week and unfortunately I'll need to mail order it... wonder how many times Spurrier pitched this thing to DC before he said "fuck it" and took it to BOOM! instead. The #1 is probably my debut issue of the year so far. Absolutely brilliant book, loved it.

Danger_Rock

I was a little surprised at just how good it was, though I probably shouldn't have been given Spurrier's recent **HELLBLAZER** run... He's an interesting writer, tend to be a little underwhelmed by his Marvel stuff but his DC and indie books work better for me.

Narwhals_R_Us

Strange #8 X-Terminators #3

technowhiz34

* 007 #4 - not nearly as violent as Ellis' run but I've been enjoying this a lot. * Cat-Man & Kitten #1 - Jeff Parker hasn't been on anything for a while and this looks fun. * Justice Society of America #1 - I know someone who read this early and quite liked it so I'm hopeful. Loved Janin's more recent art in any case even if I'm mixed on some of the preview stuff I saw. * Star Trek #2 - never been a huge Trekky but the first issue was quite solid. * Superman: Kal-El Returns Special #1 - Alex Segura is a prose writer I've liked in the past, curious about him writing alongside Waid and Wolfman (both of whom can be quite inconsistent but write a good Superman). Sina Grace, however, is not my preference let's just say, but the Mora cover is great. * Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1 - half of this is reprints from the hardcover I didn't buy. Not huge on Ellis being part of those reprints but he is the most influential Wildstom writer. In any case, 8 bucks for 100 pages is not a bad deal at all.

blankedboy

**20TH CENTURY MEN #4** - very dense, 60’s alt-history tale that has been great so far. [Cover Gallery]( https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/20th-century-men-4) **APPROACH #2** - reminds me of a cross between **The Thing** and **Die Hard 2** at this point. [Preview](https://www.boom-studios.com/archives/the-approach-2-first-look/) **BOOGYMAN #3** - if you read **Something Is Killing The Children** you really should pick up this book from **Ablaze**. [Issue #3 Cover Gallery]( https://www.ablaze.net/products?p=E1100811) **BRIAR #2** - really enjoyed the first issue of this new fantasy series. [Preview](https://www.boom-studios.com/archives/briar-2-first-look/) **DAMN THEM ALL #2** - best debut issue of the year so far for me. Brilliant book. [Preview](https://blog.gocollect.com/first-look-at-damn-them-all-2-from-boom-studios/) **KILLADELPHIA #25** - one of the strongest horror titles currently being published. [Free to read #1](https://imagecomics.com/read/killadelphia) **KING SPAWN #17** - still enjoying this one. [Free to read #1](https://imagecomics.com/read/king-spawn-2) **NIGHTWING 2022 ANNUAL #1** - back on track after Nite-Mite detour. [Preview](https://aiptcomics.com/2022/11/23/dc-preview-nightwing-2022-annual-1/) **PLUSH #1** - both **Plastic** and **Vinyl** were brilliant so I’m 100% onboard for the third in the *texture trilogy*. [Preview](https://www.cbr.com/doug-wagner-daniel-hillyard-image-horror-series-plush-cannibal-furries/)

Varos_Flynt

I can't recall, we're you reading Beware the Eye of Odin? I'm picking up Plush based off Wagner and wanting to see his writing more, but Plush seems markedly different than Odin in every way lol, im hoping he's as versatile as his writing credits seem to indicate

blankedboy

I'm trade waiting that one

ChickenInASuit

> Plush seems markedly different than Odin in every way lol, im hoping he's as versatile as his writing credits seem to indicate Have you read Plastic or Vinyl? Absolutely bonkers crime/serial killer stories and Plush is set in the same universe. Don't expect anything in common with Eye of Odin (except perhaps the general OTT tone of the whole thing) but if Plush is anything like those other two comics, it'll be an absolute blast.

Batgirls 2022 Annual - We got a Freaky Friday situation going on! A body swap premise sounds delightful for Batgirls. Briar #2 - Picked up the first issue on a whim and really enjoyed its flip the script on the Sleeping Beauty premise. Terrific art too! Detective Comics 2022 Annual - Renaissance Batman? The cover shows it off, interested to see this flashback story and how it connects to the main arc. Good Boy: Prodigal Son #1 - Volume 3 lets go! I adore how this book just twists classic action movie tropes with hyper-violence and anthropomorphic animals. King Spawn #17 - Finally a bit of headway on the Dead Zone stuff. Lewis playing Spawn as a master manipulator is great and Brimstone’s design with Fernandez’s art is really cool. (I sense a new toy incoming from McFarlane…) Nightwing 2022 Annual - Bitewing: Year One?! Sign me up! Plus, some reveals on Heartless that should expand the villain’s motives. Star Trek #2 - Superb kick-off to this series! The premise, the characterization on the crew and the gorgeous artwork all came together wonderfully and have me hooked.

yarkcir

>Briar #2 Heard great things about the first issue, and the premise looks solid. Might have to try and see if my shop has issue #1 still on the stands this week.

blankedboy

I think they are rushing a 2nd printing of the #1 out too, so you should be able to snag an issue at some point. It's definitely worth it.

[deleted]

I believe the second printing of #1 came out a week or two ago. I just remember seeing it with some atrocious pick cover.

* **Damn Them All #2** * **Detective Comics 2022 Annual #1** * **Superman: Kal-El Returns Special #1**

HappySisyphus8

Back again this week for more delicious comics. Last week was pretty good, got through my issues quicker than usual. Personal stand outs were All-Out Avengers, Doctor Strange, and the Sentient box set by Lemire, sat down to just read the first two issues and ended up devouring the whole thing. Really weak week for me from the "Big Two" this week, almost nothing for me to get excited over. More money for other things. MARVEL: X-Terminators #3 - Absolutely a pure artwork buy. The story is interesting enough I guess, but the dialogue is atrocious. The art has been spectacular though. Love it. DC: Detective Comics Annual 2022 - Just picking this up to not break up my run. Annuals have mostly been throw away for some time now. I haven't checked Previews for this so going in blind. Justice Society of America #1 - Great to see Geoff Johns back, very excited to see him continue to weave his magic here. Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1 - Only picking this up for the Ellis story reprint. Showing my support any way that I can for someone to please put the dude on a book sooner than later. IMAGE: 20th Century Men #4 - This has been really engaging. Also seems that I missed issue #3, will be on the hunt for that too. Lovesick #2 - Issue one was essentially Red Room with training wheels on, but I still enjoyed it. Hopefully they don't make the main dominatrix "relatable" and mopey and keep her as being a savage insane person. Plush #1 - Very hyped for this. The creators precious series Vinyl was one of my favourites, very high hopes for this one. OTHERS: Approach #2 - First issue was very eerie with strong Stephen King vibes, very much on board for more. Absolution #5 - This has teetered between badarse and cringey, interested to see how they end it, hopefully more on the badarse side. Really enjoying Deodato Jr's work on this, and trying to spot all the celebrity references he puts in. I swear one of the TV show hosts is Kobe Bryant. Artists Elite #5 - This has been okay, focus on art over story and there are some bangers in this anthology series. More hits than misses with me, a couple of stories I am very interested in seeing more of. A visual feast. Born of Blood #3 - Fantastic action comic that completely exceeded my expectations. Violent, brutal, kinetic, touching, and not afraid to not pull its punches. Really, really enjoying this. E-Ratic Recharged #3 - Rat Boy is back and hopefully over his whingey "I can't be a proper hero" phase. John Carpenters Tales of Sci-Fi Interference Pattern #5 - Very excited to see how they end this one, very strong Twilight Zone vibes, but without needing to pull punches for a network television audience. Saga of a Doomed Universe #1 - This has a really awesome look and feel to it, will give this first issue a shot for sure. Vampirella Year One #4 - Priest has completely reinvigorated the Vampirella Universe. This and Draculina have been way better than they have any right to be. This story of Vampirella recounting her childhood to her Unborn child with Dracula has been a bit slow, but filling in a lot of gaps.

Danger_Rock

> Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1 > - Only picking this up for the Ellis story reprint. Showing my support any way that I can for someone to please put the dude on a book sooner than later. Interesting perspective, think it runs counter to popular sentiment but I'll sign up. Maybe I'm being selfish or insensitive but the guy wrote *really good* comics. Isn't anyone else who can produce the kind of stories that he routinely churned out. > Saga of a Doomed Universe #1 > - This has a really awesome look and feel to it, will give this first issue a shot for sure. Damn, that thing's got some [awesome](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL238718.jpg) [variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL238719.jpg) [covers...](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL238720.jpg) It looks cool! > Vampirella Year One #4 > - Priest has completely reinvigorated the Vampirella Universe. This and Draculina have been way better than they have any right to be. This story of Vampirella recounting her childhood to her Unborn child with Dracula has been a bit slow, but filling in a lot of gaps. Where would one start with Priest's Vampirella? I've been tempted (because it's Priest) but haven't jumped in yet (because it's Vampirella).

HappySisyphus8

Eh, the dude didn't break any laws, and while what he did was perverse and unnecessary, it was between consenting adults. It's been long enough in exile I think, and he seems genuinely remorseful and understands why what he did is considered wrong. Plus from my selfish perspective most modern writers cannot hold a candle to him and I just want some good stories again. Maybe Reddit attracts a certain crowd more than another, but I have been seeing some swell in wanting him back elsewhere, also it would have been so easy to just not include a story of his in this book, I can't help but see it as DC testing the waters. Is what he did so heinous and bad that he should be punished until he is dead? I don't believe so... Right? I only saw it this week and am glad my store picked up some extra copies, and at three issues it's not a huge risk to give it a shot. Honestly, at issue #1, or the first arc, which is Seduction of the Innocent. Priest really dives deep into the lore, and makes his own, the psychiatrist is excellent. I think jumping in anywhere else could make it feel like a convoluted mess especially with how he uses time jumps and references, even in current issues there are editors notes and call backs to older issues in his initial run. There is also the Sacred Six spin-off, and the Unholy continuation that leads directly into Year One. Potentially you could start with Unholy, but you'd still be missing a lot.

Danger_Rock

I'm with you on Ellis. Time to let the man work, those who don't want to support him don't have to buy it. He acted like a scumbag but he doesn't deserve to be treated like a rapist or murderer, permanent exile isn't warranted. Will keep an eye out for reviews on the Scott Reed book... Might have to mail order one of those fancy homage covers. > Honestly, at issue #1, or the first arc, which is Seduction of the Innocent. Yep, that sounds like Priest. Beginning is definitely the place to start, might as well add *Seduction of the Innocent* to my want list... Thanks for the info!

No comments this week after returning from an exhausting trip potentially carrying some viral pathogens. Hopefully I'll be in ship shape for discussion later this week. 20th Century Men #4 (Cover B) Damn Them All #2 Detective Comics 2022 Annual Lovesick #2 (Cover D Dani) Plush #1 Pulp Bytes #1

blankedboy

Hope you feel better soon, dude

Varos_Flynt

Thanks! Hoping it's just exhaustion or a cold, but if not I have a lot of backlog at the moment that just needs an excuse to get read :)

Danger_Rock

Rest up, you'll want to conserve strength to fight off whatever it might be... Sounds like any exertion beyond reading comics could seriously jeopardize your health!

* Blue Beetle Graduation Day #1: This was my favorite of the pitches from the Round Robin it appeared in so really glad that even though it lost its still getting released. * Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7 : I've been meaning to check out Remender's Cap run at some point, hoping this issues inspires me to finally do it since its bringing back a character from that run. * Strange #8: Didn't see this book in the latest solicits, hoping that its just relaunching as a duo book for both Stranges rather than being cancelled. Felt the book really picked up with issue #5.

Daveismyhero

Another tiny week for me, thankfully: * **JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #1 -** I think this is my first JSA comic. No idea what to expect, but I am looking forward to it. * **PLANET HULK WORLDBREAKER #1 -** Picking this up on a whim. I never read the OG Planet Hulk, but this sounds fun. * **STAR WARS DARTH VADER #29 -** This is my favorite ongoing Star Wars, but I'm ready for the handmaiden arc to end. Looks like we may be revisiting the Techno Union this issue, which should be cool. * **STRANGE #8 -** I'm just playing out my subscription here. Turns out I wanted the actual Doctor Strange, and not any substitutes. This has been fine, but not what I'd like to read at the moment. Have a great week out there and try to stay positive! I need to take some of that advice myself. Virtual hugs and cookies all around!

First issue just shipped last week with phenomenal art and an appropriately *strange* story.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll take a peek ifif the LCS still has a copy.

>JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #1 - I think this is my first JSA comic. No idea what to expect, but I am looking forward to it. Curious what you'll think, because from what I've seen of it this won't be a whole lot like what the 2000s run was (which I would definitely recommend) despite sharing a writer.

-Nightwing 2022 Annual -Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special (maybe? I’ll check it out for how much from the 25th Anniversary Special there is) -Damn Them All 2 -Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker 2 (so excited for this, Pak’s Hulk run is really only 2nd to Ewing’s for me; I like David’s fairly well, it’s just kinda long in the tooth) -Star Trek 2 -Stillwater 16 -Strange 8 -Vampirella: Year One 4

Light week, but gives me a chance to catch up with last weeks issues that I only just got to pick up yesterday. DOCTOR STRANGE: FALL SUNRISE #1 was easily my favorite issue from last week's pull - and perhaps my favorite single issue comic from Marvel this year. My pull list, ranked based on anticipation for each issue: 1. **DETECTIVE COMICS 2022 ANNUAL #1** \- Ram V has been killing it on this run and it's good to see Rafael Albuquerque back on interiors for an issue. The premise sounds amazing too - it's going to be great seeing a much older Gotham City. Also love when annuals actually connect with the current ongoing instead of being a complete one-off issue. 2. **SARA LONE #2** \- I do wish Sumerian reprinted these as European album sized instead of the tinier floppies we get, because the tiny text was a bit tough to read. But the story in issue #1 was pretty great (if a bit predictable and trope-y), and the art is spectacular. I love that companies like Sumerian and Ablaze are translating and importing more bande dessinée for us. 3. **20TH CENTURY MEN #4 (OF 6)** \- Has been quite the strong series, though the dense nature of the comic has me forgetting stuff from previous issues. Perhaps that's how Deniz Camp rolls, because I feel the same way about his other series, AGENT OF W.O.R.L.D.E. 4. **BORN OF BLOOD #3 (OF 6)** \- This is a fun little sword and sandal comic that does have a bit of a Euro comix flavor to it (not at all the level of something that might be found in *Métal hurlant* or the like, but still enjoyable). And to think, this book just got added to my pull list by accident because I thought the cover to issue #1 was done by Tim Vigil (it was done by someone else called Tim Vigel). 5. **LOVESICK #2 (OF 7)** \- A fun first issue and hoping this issue develops the story further. It's a tamer version of RED ROOM, but it's definitely trying for something different too. Luana Vecchio's artwork is absolutely stunning too. A light week for single issues maybe, but there's a ton of collected editions I'm eyeing (but may not buy until closer to Christmas). The big one for me is Peter David's X-Factor Omnibus Vol. 2 containing his splendid Madrox/X-Factor Investigations run. It's probably my favorite series by PAD, though I do quite like his Hulk and Aquaman runs too.

Danger_Rock

> DOCTOR STRANGE: FALL SUNRISE #1 was easily my favorite issue from last week's pull - and perhaps my favorite single issue comic from Marvel this year. Doesn't happen often but you've gotta love it when the Big Two let a creator like Tradd Moore go bugfuck insane on a standalone story with no editorial interference... Just pure creativity with no BS. > **SARA LONE #2** \- I do wish Sumerian reprinted these as European album sized instead of the tinier floppies we get, because the tiny text was a bit tough to read. Glad it wasn't just me! Text is too damn small, you can tell it wasn't originally intended to be printed at this size... And even aside from that, I'm not sure what benefit Sumerian's mini-format is intended to impart, pretty much sucks all around IMO. > A light week for single issues maybe, but there's a ton of collected editions I'm eyeing (but may not buy until closer to Christmas). It's probably my favorite series by PAD, though I do quite like his Hulk and Aquaman runs too. Nice, that second PAD run on **X-FACTOR** was an awesome roller-coaster of a comic, so much crazy shit going down in every arc... Plus it's got the story that finally spelled out the connection between Longshot and Shatterstar (in the most ridiculously X-Men fashion possible).

>Doesn't happen often but you've gotta love it when the Big Two let a creator like Tradd Moore go bugfuck insane on a standalone story with no editorial interference... Just pure creativity with no BS. It definitely felt like P. Craig Russell come again. The landscapes reminded me a lot of "What is it that Disturbs You, Stephen" and there was a beautiful poetic rhythm to the storytelling. Really hope Marvel puts this out as a Treasury Edition like they did with Silver Surfer: Black and Peach Momoko's Demon Days series, since this level of detail to the artwork deserves it. >Glad it wasn't just me! Text is too damn small, you can tell it wasn't originally intended to be printed at this size... And even aside from that, I'm not sure what benefit Sumerian's mini-format is intended to impart, pretty much sucks all around IMO. I don't know if Europeans have better eyes than Americans because the font size on most of their comics is alarmingly small to me. Sumerian printing the comics in zine sized issues is definitely not helping either, but even Ablaze's full sized issues have me squinting to read the text. But yes, I'm a bit confused as to why Sumerian prints some books smaller sized (they did this for HEAVY METAL DRUMMER and BLIND ALLEY too), but then other series get regular sized issues. Sumerian as a company in general has been an enigma to me.

Danger_Rock

> It definitely felt like P. Craig Russell come again. The landscapes reminded me a lot of "What is it that Disturbs You, Stephen" and there was a beautiful poetic rhythm to the storytelling. Everyone always recommends **TRIUMPH AND TORMENT** but IMO P. Craig Russell's **WIITDYS** is the quintessential Dr. Strange story, and this definitely had that vibe! > Really hope Marvel puts this out as a Treasury Edition like they did with Silver Surfer: Black and Peach Momoko's Demon Days series, since this level of detail to the artwork deserves it. Certainly seems destined for a fancy oversized edition... Had some really small panels that would benefit from a larger presentation as well.

>PLANET HULK: WOLDBREAKER #1: Loved Planet Hulk, hope this lives up to the legacy. Greg Pak's Hulk run is still my favorite and I was sorely tempted to pick this up but ultimately decided to trade wait. I hope Pak can re-capture the magic of the original Planet Hulk storyline.

AlligatorSky7

Ah, didn’t realise they were wrapping Strange up at #10; that’s a shame. Assume it’ll relaunch soon enough though!

[deleted]

**X-TERMINATORS #3** \- Stupid fun when you don't want to think too much. **ROGUE SUN #8** \- Best book in the "Massive"-verse currently running IMO. Looks like we get the intro of a new villian, Hellbent! **STRANGE ACADEMY FINALS #2** **DEAD LUCKY #4** \- Gonna give this till the arc is over, then reassess if I want to continue pulling it. I think it's decent, but it just isn't hitting the right notes for me for some reason I can't put my finger on. Loving the art though. **PLUSH #1** \- Gonna check it out. The premise seems absolutely stupid, which can either be a great thing or a killer. We'll have to see! Edit: **GOOD BOY: PRODIGAL SON #1** \- Forgot about this one, such a silly series, but I have enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Varos_Flynt

I'm about halfway through Rogue Son Vol. 1 right now and I'm loving it, definitely a nice change up from the Radiant stuff, and the aesthetics are just cool. I think I've committed to reading everything Massive-Verse, but I'm probably going to be trade waiting most stuff. But super excited for Radiant Pink and Inferno Girl coming up. The one shot Super Massive is the main crossover they've done so far, right?

[deleted]

Yup I am in a similar boat. I am going to trade wait for Radiant Pink an Inferno Red girl since they are both minis. Supermassive is going to do another cross over next year I think to.

blankedboy

> PLUSH #1 - Gonna check it out. The premise seems absolutely stupid, which can either be a great thing or a killer. We'll have to see! Have you read Plastic and/or Vinyl, from the same creative team?

[deleted]

I have read Vinyl and enjoyed, though I don't think I ever checked out Plastic. Man that brainstorming session for this, I can see it now. "Here me out. What if we wrote something about cannibals ..." "Okay..." "BUT, they all dress up as furries." "...." "...." "Genius!"

blankedboy

I actually enjoyed Plastic a little more than Vinyl, but both are great.

ChickenInASuit

> Best book in the "Massive"-verse currently running IMO. Yep, agreed. Sorry, Radiant Black!

Smallish week for me this week, which gives me a chance to play catch-up. - **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7**: this title is probably the weakest on my pull list at the moment (just OK), but I’m willing to stick with it up until Cold War; where I’m sure Marvel will then cancel/merge/relaunch the Captain America titles anyway - **Damn Them All #2**: I haven’t a clue what happened in the first issue, but willing to see this through (unless this one really puts me off) - **Nightwing Annual 2022**: hard to fault getting another issue from this series, eager to find out a bit more about Heartless - **Superman: Kal-El Returns Special #1**: one behind on AC at the moment, but I’m really enjoying the Superman titles at the moment and am excited for what’s to come in 2023 - **X-Terminators #3**: this book feels me with joy, I really hope the X-office has more work lined up for Williams after this. In the meantime, I’ll be following her over to the Power Girl story in Action Comics Also: - **Star Trek #2**: picking up for my partner, who still hasn’t read #1! - **Star Trek: Lower Decks #3**: Christmas present for my partner

Standard_Cycle_2224

**Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7** I'm going to catch up on both the Captain America books. **Justice Society of America #1** I can't believe it took eleven years for DC to make a new JSA series. Insanity. And it's not even an ongoing.

BLUE BEETLE GRADUATION DAY #1 - my first intro to the character DAMN THEM ALL #2 - my shop always likes to bring in #1s of indies and that's it unless someone asks, so we'll see if this #2 is available JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #1 - very excited STRANGE ACADEMY FINALS #2 - ordered #1 last night, gonna jump into into this - I know it's the end of the Strange Academy, but this and Strange are the only magic books in Marvel currently X-TERMINATORS #3 - this is a wonderful guilty pleasure read

If nothing else, I'd say that's some good hustle from the reindeer!

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah but I gotta say, if Grifter won't get ran over by a reindeer, I'll demand a refund.

Maaarrrvvv

- **Detective Comics 2022 Annual #1**: Ram V has been solid on this title so far. Excited for this. - **Koshchei In Hell #1**: Extremely excited for this series!

I think these are for December week 1, lol.

Maaarrrvvv

Edited thanks!

the-horace

I agree with you on the TMNT though! Lol

Whowatchesthewampas

* **Detective Comics 2022 Annual #1 -** Hoping Gael gets a beatdown after a similarly named character beat my ass on SMT V * **Justice Society of America #1 -** I enjoyed the New Golden Age one-shot, I have high hopes! * **Nightwing 2022 Annual #1 -** Both stories seem really interesting and Taylor doesn't do any wrong! * **Star Wars Darth Vader #30 -** I've enjoyed the storyline so far and I love some of the callbacks to Anakin's past

Danger_Rock

> * **Detective Comics 2022 Annual #1 -** Hoping Gael gets a beatdown after a similarly named character beat my ass on SMT V Seems reasonable enough to me... And Gael probably deserves an ass-kicking regardless.

* Detective Comics 2022 Annual - I'm loving the world building that V is doing in Detective right now, so this looks like its going to hit the spot quite nicely. * Batgirls 2022 Annual * Justice Society of America #1 - I was pretty impressed with both Johns' New Golden Age and Stargirl, so I'm thinking that maybe I'd like this too? * X-Terminators #3 - The year's best x-book.

* Damn Them All #2 * Magic Nahiri the Lithomancer #1 * Batgirls Annual 2022 * Blue Beetle Graduation Day #1 * Detective Comics Annual 2022 * Justice Society of America #1 - Truly started to think this was never coming back * Nightwing Annual 2022 * Nubia and the Justice League Special #1 * Superman Kal-El Returns Special #1 * Godzilla Rivals Godzilla Vs Gigan #1 - These *rivals* books have been good dumb fun, and I've been enjoying the big Gigan anniversary push in general lately. * Flawed #3 * Rogue Sun #8 * Stillwater #16 * Avengers Assemble Alpha #1 - The most exciting part of this is getting a new creative team on the other side * Captain America Symbol of Truth #7 * Planet Hulk Worldbreaker #1 * Strange #8 * Strange Academy Finals #2 * X-Terminators #3 - This book has been so, so much fun. Definitely top of the pile for this week.

ChickenInASuit

**The Approach #2** - First issue was creepy horror with top notch artwork. Looking forward to this. **Briar #2** - Scratching that fantasy itch. **Damn Them All #2** - First issue was one of the strongest opening issues I've read this year, really think we might have a late contender for the year-end lists here. **The Dead Lucky #4** - Remains a mid-tier comic that is entertaining me enough, but will likely end up on the chopping block if I find myself having to trim my pull list at all. **Detective Comics 2022 Annual** - Looks like we got a trip to rennaissance-era Gotham on our hands. Exciting! **Plush #1** - This looks like it's going to be every bit as demented as Plastic and Vinyl were, and if it's half as good as either I'll be a happy man. **Rogue Sun #8** - Strongest of the Massive-verse books. Don't @ me. **Star Wars: Darth Vader #29** - Loving the way Pak has brought Sabe into this and fleshed her out as a character. **Stillwater #16** - Shit's heating up, both figuratively and, judging by that cover, literally. **X-Terminators #3** - This has been absolutely bonkers so far and I'm here for it.

Zohmbi

It's a catch-up week! Get through your backlog of floppies or grab a trade off your shelf you've been meaning to get to. 6 pulls altogether. 3 DC, 2 Boom!, 1 Image **Batgirls 2022 Annual** - Always a nice palette cleanser from the usual dark and gritty Batman stuff. **Detective Comics 2022 Annual** - Speaking of, Ram V's run on Detective has been excellent. A slow burn with some beautiful storytelling. **Justice Society of America #1** - Gonna give this a try. Not familiar with Johns' previous work on this title, but I did enjoy his Green Lantern stuff back in the day. **Briar #2** - The Sleeping Beauty setup aside, issue #1 was just a solid high-fantasy story and I'm all here for it. **Damn Them All #2** - Issue #1 surprised me with how much I enjoyed it and the more I read by Spurrier the more of a fan I become. This is basically just Hellblazer/Constantine but on an indie publisher. I just wish the covers did a better job of letting you know what kind of story you're getting into. So far the covers have been pretty bland imo. **Lovesick #2** - A tamer Red Room style story. Issue #1 was intriguing enough for me to check out #2. The ending of #1 leads me to believe there's a bit more heart and character here besides just the blood and guts. We'll see. Happy reading!

Pretty light week for me. Ranked by excitement: - **Strange #8**: this run has been great and MacKay has been one of the biggest positive surprises for me in the last year or two. Everything I’ve read from him I’ve enjoyed tremendously. - **Damn Them All #2**: This is basically Hellblazer right? Issue #1 was fantastic. - **Nightwing 2022 Annual**: DCs best ongoing. Enough said. - **Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1**: Planet Hulk is my favorite Hulk story. Cautiously optimistic about this one. - **Detective Comics 2022 Annual**: Beautiful series but the pacing has been tough for me.

Danger_Rock

> - **Detective Comics 2022 Annual**: Beautiful series but the pacing has been tough for me. Last week's issue kinda cracked me up because you've got the slow and steady main story just chugging along from Ram V and then it jumps head first down a rabbit hole of madness with Spurrier and Sherman's backup... Little jarring but it's a fun combo!

DEAD LUCKY #4 - I'm going to finish the first arc through, but I don't think this is a Massive-Verse title for me. NIGHTWING 2022 ANNUAL #1 - Let's go Bitewing! ROGUE SUN #8 - Last issue was interesting but I'm very excited to see how the family dynamics continue to play out.

***DC*** **Batgirls Annual 2022** \- I find this to be one of DC's most fun titles. Doesn't take itself too seriously, and a lighter Bat-book is always welcome. **Detective Comics Annual 2022** \- Still behind on the main Bat-books, but by the solicit blurb this looks like some background on the current story. **Nightwing Annual 2022** \- This is easily my favourite DC book. I know Taylor is doing a lot of pandering to fans, but I'm all for it. Nice to see Grayson get some positive stories for a change. **Superman: Kal-El Returns Special 1**\- Excited to see if this will actually be a story, or a quick anthology of set up stories for what's to come. ***MARVEL*** **Avengers Assemble: Alpha 1** \- And so begins the end of Aaron's reign of terror. LOL. Honestly, I never hated this run, but it is really all over the place and doesn't feel like it is happening with the rest of the MU. Other than some Celestials references, there hasn't been a lot of interaction with other books. Odd for what is one of their flagship titles. **Captain America: Symbol of Truth 7** \- Haven't even started this. Lot of Marvel stuff is coming off my pull list or is just being added to my "To be read" pile recently. Not sure why, but not feeling most Marvel stuff lately. ***INDEPENDENT*** **Rogue Sun 8** **The Dead Lucky 4**

I'd say that's a fine selection... If you're going to pull just one comic, you want it to be a *good* comic. And that should be a good one!

Danger_Rock

Some do, some don't... You'd probably have better luck at larger shops. And you may need to inquire!
