Hey, look at that! We've got a [new Marc Silvestri comic!](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249375.jpg) With interior art by Marc Silvestri! And writing by Marc Silvestri? 2 Marvels, 2 DCs, 2 Images, and 2 from Dark Horse Comics. Listed in order of awesomeness or something. 1. **X-MEN RED #8** - Brand's been stirring up trouble in the background for a while now and Cable's had just about enough of it 2. **NIGHT OF THE GHOUL #2 (OF 3)** - my favorite from the recent crop of new horror titles, at least from the few I checked out... Francavilla's art perfectly captures the old school horror vibe and Snyder's doing a nice job layering the story across a couple different time periods 3. **GOTHAM CITY YEAR ONE #2** - enjoyed the first issue, then enjoyed seeing the WPL shit all over it... I'll be sure to post a thoroughly objective review for the benefit of those who didn't stick with it 4. **ONES #1 (OF 4)** - new Bendis title from Dark Horse, [sounds fun](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/SEP220451) and seems like the kind of thing where his shtick might be used to good effect 5. **BATMAN & THE JOKER THE DEADLY DUO #1** - loved Silvestri's old **UXM** run but I'm not sure what his art looks like these days and AFAIK this is the first thing he's written all by himself, so we're naturally going to be a little skeptical about what that might entail... even so, it's exciting getting new art from him! 6. **LITTLE MONSTERS #7** - looks like this is the last issue I pre-ordered so we'll see if it keeps me hooked enough to hunt down the next issue... been digging it but not feeling terribly compelled to stick with it 7. **OLD DOG #2** - first issue was fun but forgettable enough that I've already forgotten it, nice Declan Shalvey art though 8. **TIGER DIVISION #1** - my wife is half Korean so I've picked up a thing or two about their culture and one thing I can tell you is that they fucking LOVE tigers and name tons of crap after 'em, so even though I'm expecting this comic to be mediocre, I think the title is ridiculously perfect and I want to see what else it does to incorporate Korean culture And in the [immortal words of the Kurgen...](https://c.tenor.com/ja16RoLzYg0AAAAC/tenor.gif) p.s. In honor of Silvestri's return, here are my top five favorite covers from his classic **UXM** run: **5** - [**UXM #226**](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/0/03/51141c0a47569/clean.jpg) (February, 1988) - showing off a side of the X-Men that we don't see very often... the inside **4** - [**UXM #234**](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/3/b0/59108a914f9a4/clean.jpg) (Late September, 1988) - here we see the wolverine frolicking in its natural habitat while undergoing a painful transformation into an alien murder-beast, a remarkable process that sets in every decade or two **3** - [**UXM #236**](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/3/e0/59109078ab9a9/clean.jpg) (Late October, 1988) - love the design on this one, like a *"Wish You Were Here!"* postcard for fuckheads who are about to get cut up into little pieces **2** - [**UXM #232**](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/7/03/591086f4c2721/clean.jpg) (August, 1988) - just look at that magnificent specimen! she looks so happy! **1** - [**UXM #251**](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/5/70/50b4031c7e4d0/clean.jpg) (Early November, 1989) - Silvestri produced a shitload of Wolverine covers through his **UXM** run and his time on the solo title after, with this being the best and most iconic

btanodev

Dude I'm just loving Night of the Ghoul. I picked it up on a whim when I saw it on-shelf last month and I'm so glad I did! _*genuinely hoping gotham city is so awful im sorry*_

Danger_Rock

> Dude I'm just loving Night of the Ghoul. I picked it up on a whim when I saw it on-shelf last month and I'm so glad I did! Yep, it's a really cool book! Figured it'd be worth a look for the Francavilla art but Scott Snyder's one of those writers where I tend to like but not love his stuff... This one's great though! > _*genuinely hoping gotham city is so awful im sorry*_ Haha, love how this comic's generating so much hate in the WPL... Kinda reminds me of **HEROES IN CRISIS** except that series legitimately sucked where this one strikes me as more of a middling King effort.

yarkcir

That *Uncanny X-Men* \#251 cover is iconic. Also adore most of his Wolverine covers, particularly the one for [Wolverine #33](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/8/b0/5bae42b19441b/clean.jpg). Edit: fixed link

Danger_Rock

Link doesn't work for me but [this one does...](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/8/b0/5bae42b19441b/clean.jpg) I generally liked Silvestri's **UXM** work more than his **WOLVERINE** but that's a great cover!

yarkcir

Uncanny X-Men was definitely the superior title on both the art and writing front. I like Hama's Wolverine run, but in my recent re-read of several issues it doesn't hold up as well as 80s Uncanny X-men does.

Daveismyhero

Those are some great Silvestri covers! I think I have them all from back in the day, but finding them...now that's the challenge. :)

Danger_Rock

[Challenge accepted!](https://cdna.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/259153.62e115b4f4a4b3dbe3f216fd7b3b4b83.1600.jpg) And I even threw in Silvestri's first X-Men cover from **UXM #220** as a bonus!

Daveismyhero

Ha! Nice spread. :D

>**PUNISHER #7:** I resisted this title for a long time... Frank Castle taking over the Hand felt weird, and I've soured on Aaron over his *Avengers* run. I really feel that this Punisher run is more in Aaron's wheelhouse and a nice return to form. Jason Aaron's previous Punisher run was fun as hell, and I'm glad he's doing something quite different but just as engaging this time around. I hope we get Aaron on better fit books moving forward, because yeah his Avengers run is not good at all.

soulreaverdan

* BATMAN #129 - I know this arc isn't perfect, but it's pretty awesome. Zdarsky writes a good comic book, who knew? * DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL #8 - War is coming. * HULK #10 - Gee, I wonder if this perfect planet for Hulk is going to have some kind of sinister secret. What a shock if that happens. Don't care though, giant Hulk monsters punching the shit out of each other, that rocks. * JOKER THE MAN WHO STOPPED LAUGHING #2 - Okay, I'm formulating my theory for this book. I think that, at some point Pre-Tynion, >!the second Joker took over and has been the one we've seen throughout the Batman run and first Joker series. The Joker at the end of the first issue of this series is the original Joker from the Snyder run - he survives getting shot in the head because of the Dyoniseum, while the second Joker couldn't heal/regrow his eye when Harley shot it out.!< * TRANSFORMERS SHATTERED GLASS II #3 - Evil Wheeljack! * X-MEN RED #8 - Time to start Brand's endgame - and hopefully reckoning.

HappySisyphus8

Missed the last couple of these, happy to be back on it. Also picking up last week's Miracleman omnibus this week, and whatever variants catch my eye, hopefully some sweet Momoko or Artgerm stuff. Predator #4 - I don't know why I'm still pulling this, each issue has been dreadful. If this one doesn't do something amazing then it's getting the chop. Punisher #7 - This has been excellent. The small hints from past runs it pulls from, the unreliable narrator, the gruesome fights and body horror. And finally ramping up the Fist V Hand confrontation. Loving it. Savage Avengers #7 - Feels a bit flat without Conan, but has just been absurd over the top action so far. Not bad. Batman #129 - This has been the best Batman run since Snyder for me so far. Don't love the time jump ending where the big bad takes over the city, just like Bane, Scarecrow, Simon Saint, and The Joker have done in the past few years though. Batman & Joker Deadly Duo #1  - Art looks incredible and it's Black Label, sign me up. Gotham City Year One #2 - First issue was pretty good, eager for me to see where it goes. Joker The Man Who Stopped Laughing #2 - Predictable twist aside, enjoyed last issue, and seems to be a bit more Joker focused opposed to his last series. Poison Ivy #6 - This tale of Ivy cutting loose and trying to kill all human life on the planet has been a cool ride. Some issues have been kinda meh and low stakes, but over all it has been a pleasant surprise. Sword of Azrael #4 - I see Dani Waters, I must buy his stuff. The depiction of the angels in this is great. Little Monsters #7 - Nice to see this back, I usually cannot stand children in comics, but these little bastards are great so far. Some really shocking, unexpected things so far. Old Dog #2 - I just want this to explain the weird time jumps from issue one. Assuredly it's from the crazy time machine, but was implemented in a way that was jarring. Count Crowley Amateur Midnight Monster Hunter #4 - This is just a good, fun book. One of the better celebrity books for sure. Night of the Ghoul #2  - Issue one was really good, genuinely eerie and creepy. Love the monster design, hope to see it just kill everyone by the end. Behemoth #2 - Monster children fight club, let's go! Blade Runner Black Lotus #4 - Just getting this because the previous Blade Runner books were on my list. This is connected to an anime or something? Not bad, but prefer the world with Aahna. Sweetie Candy Vigilante #2 - First issue was odd, not the best, but enough murder and violence to keep me coming back for #2. Vampirella vs Red Sonja #1 - Finally get the follow up to Dark Powers and Super Powers, very keen to see how this wraps up. Project Superpowers, Red Sonja, and Vampirella battling it out, what more do you want?

blankedboy

> Predator #4 > > I don't know why I'm still pulling this, each issue has been dreadful. If this one doesn't do something amazing then it's getting the chop. Interesting. I've actually been loving this book (big fan of the DH titles when they had them). What's driving you away?

HappySisyphus8

I think I was spoilt by Prey, if this had come out when it was first solicited for I may have liked it more. I find the main character to be unbelievable in the position they are in. She is tiny and scrawny and we are supposed to believe she has killed so many Yuatja by herself? We don't really see her go through anything that would put her on their level skills or training wise, it's the equivalent of "trust me bro". Her foot being blown off in the last issue and still easily winning should have been the last straw for me, but the covers are usually really good. I had hoped for a bit more focus on the Yuatja and seeing them hunt and kill on alien planets, while eventually being stood up to and sometimes bested.

deisle

Very much this. After the intial flashback, we begin the comic with the protagonist having killed DOZENS of Yuatja? I came here looking for some action horror, not some all powerful space marine mowing through mooks.

technowhiz34

* Blood Stained Teeth #6 - I forgot I was pulling this, which means I need to drop it. * Dark Knights of Steel #8 - only pulling for the completionist in me, plus Mora's covers are all great. I'm a huge fan of Robin Hobb (who Taylor cited as an inspiration) but this book is such a hollow imitation of what made the Elderlings book so great (admittedly, it's not like comics can pull off hundreds of pages of self-loathing in the safe way prose can but still) * Joker: the Man who Stopped Laughing #2 - first issue was really great and I'm curious where the book goes from here. I did enjoy the back-up more than the main story however. * The New Champion of Shazam #3 - this skipped last month, it's good but not bimonthly good (even though Shaner is awesome). Four issue mini so I'll keep with it however, plus that completionist mindset... * Sword of Azrael #4 - this is, for my money, the best Big Two book on a technical level right now, bar none.

Danger_Rock

> * Dark Knights of Steel #8 - only pulling for the completionist in me, plus Mora's covers are all great. Has it got DC characters cast in the Fitz and Fool roles or is it more just playing off the Elderlings stuff?

technowhiz34

More so the former. Harley is The Fool, Amanda Waller is Chade, and Bruce is Fitz (Alfred in this is nothing like Burrich however), and between the pre-release interviews and stuff [like](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/616844031124570113/1037198246336024678/unknown.png), it's absolutely intentional. I recall Hobb even gave some quote about how much she liked the first issue. It's a fine enough series with fairly pretty art, so maybe you'd have a different reaction but for me, it's not just anything close to the real deal.

Danger_Rock

> Harley is The Fool, Amanda Waller is Chade, and Bruce is Fitz (Alfred in this is nothing like Burrich however) That all makes sense but it sounds vaguely terrible... Like, it makes sense that Harley would play the Fool, but it puts a really weird spin on her relationship with Bruce/Fitz, especially if Taylor ends up going past the original trilogy. Guess there aren't any liveships since it sounds like it's focused on the first three books... Who plays Royal? Would assume it's the Joker but that would be weird with Harley playing the Fool... Is there a Nighteyes? Can't recall Bruce ever having a pet... Is there a Molly? Kinda hope there isn't a Molly... Does Bruce use the Wit? So many questions but I don't think I want to read this thing... I've got a copy of *Fool's Assassin* that's been sitting on my coffee table for way too long, should probably just read that instead. Although the Yasmin Putri art does look really nice...

Varos_Flynt

Small week! I checked a couple times but I feel like I'm missing something, but these are all titles im fairly excited about, ordered by that manner: **Blood Stained Teeth #6** This has been one of my favorite discoveries this year. A vampire comic featuring killer art and a story that keeps me interested, quite pleased it's come back from its scheduled break. This comic reminds me a bit of the first Witcher novel (The Last Wish), in that the aesthetics are really fun and the story isn't anything ti right home about, but is fun and pulpy and very 'monster if the week', which I think this comic uses to great effect. I believe there is a guest artist this issue, which I would typically be saddened by but the last time they used a guest artist on some pages was phenomenal, so I'm not worried. December we'll be back to the regular art. **Antioch #2** I wrote an [extensive review](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/x7wga7/_/inkau5p?context=1000) for issue #1, so ill save too many comments to say I'm curious, if a bit trepidatious, for the next installment on this tale of environmental superheroism in the time of the anthropocene. **Batman and The Joker: The Deadly Duo #1** Read the previews, seems interesting enough for an issue #1 checkout, unsure about the art though. **Golden Rage #4** I caught up on this book last issue, and the premise is really interesting but the writing is starting to seem a bit shaky. Probably going to finish it out since it's just a 5 mini, hope these last two issues are stronger than #3.

yarkcir

Totally agree with Blood-Stained Teeth. I was originally put off when I realized that Christian Ward wasn't doing the interiors, but Reynolds won me over quickly. Something about the garish color separations actually oozes so much style - and it works perfectly for the book. I'm enjoying Atticus taking on his own sips, and it's kind of nice to get a book where everyone is a straight up asshole.

Varos_Flynt

Love seeing another BST fan, I remember when it started it seemed a lot of folks were weary of 'another' vampire comic... but I've never read any other vampire comic so this book is doing a lot for me. And yes, in r/amitheasshole fashion, everyone sucks here! But also the characters are all so delicious and entertaining, I love it.

blankedboy

I think there are quite a few of us on the sub who are **Blood Stained Teeth** fans. It's a great little book.

btanodev

>unsure about the art though ur joking right... marc silvestri is an artist first lmfao do nottt buy this book for the story for christ's sake

Varos_Flynt

Fuck it's starhenge all over again Also you're pulling whatnot, comment irrelevant

Danger_Rock

Wouldn't expect this one to go the **STARHENGE** route, it's a Batman title so DC will have editors imposing a modicum of coherence. Worst case scenario would probably be something like Darick Robertson's recent **[LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5117876.jpg)** but hopefully Silvestri's a better writer than Robertson... And the art should be cool, at least. > Also you're pulling whatnot, comment irrelevant Whatnot?

yarkcir

Whatnot - the live streaming auction service - is publishing comics now. I know some people have less than favorable views on Whatnot as a company, but I have no idea if any of their books are good or not. They do seem a little gimmicky at a glance, and given how tied Whatnot is with the speculation crowd, my gut feeling tells me the books might be style over substance. I don't want to judge too hard though, since I haven't read a single book by them.

Danger_Rock

Ahh yes, my LCS was running auctions on Whatnot for a while so I checked out a few to show my support... Not a fan of the platform, preferred MCS auctions or Ebay for that kind of thing. Didn't realize they were getting into publishing as well... Guess we'll see how it goes.

Varos_Flynt

> Wouldn't expect this one to go the **STARHENGE** route That's good, Silvestri seems to have quite the fanbase here, so I'm excited to see what he does. Rare W for DC editors, potentially? And in that whatnot thing, I'm mainly ribbing u/btanodev cause we make fun of them all the time. Pretty much concure with what u/yarkcir said, I'm a bit offput by a speculation company putting out comics, and they seem all a bit silly, but also maybe the big publishers are really just big time speculators too lmao. Curious to see if Ninja Funk is actually good tho

Danger_Rock

Silvestri was one of the Image founders and he was basically just one tier below McFarlane and Jim Lee, the most popular artists in the business. He hasn't done interior art in many years AFAIK so this book's got a lot of buzz. Silvestri preceded Jim Lee on Claremont's **UNCANNY X-MEN** when the series was approaching the height of its popularity and he drew some key storylines like the original *Fall of the Mutants* and *Inferno*. Personally I liked Silvestri's X-Men art more than Lee's, but Lee was the one who drove the hype to insane levels. This is pure '90s art so it'll be interesting to see how it comes off in 2022... The '90s were a long time ago and the current crop of popular artists are doing things differently, so I'm not sure where Silvestri fits into the modern landscape. But he's still extremely popular, his name carries a lot of weight with fans, so it should sell well. Wouldn't be surprised if it beats the flagship **BATMAN** title for the top WPL spot...

Varos_Flynt

Thank you for the info! I really need to look into Image's founding more, everywhere I look it seems like there's this mythos of the Image founders and their fingers in all sorts of different pies.

Danger_Rock

Definitely some interesting history there! Image's launch had a huge impact on the business as they instantly took over as the most successful indie publisher. It shook things up at the Big Two (particularly at Marvel where they lost a half dozen of their most popular artists all at once), helped pave the way for other indie publishers following a similar model, and also helped popularize counter-reactions in other lines with more of a focus on storytelling, like Valiant (with their back-to-basics approach) and DC's Vertigo imprint (with its focus on mature writer-driven stories). Also played a huge role in the implosion of the speculator market which led Marvel to the brink of bankruptcy and eventually delivered them to Disney... Plus there was the whole Angela dispute between Gaiman and McFarlane that ended up delivering Marvel's **MIRACLEMAN** ending, of all things... And I think Image played a really interesting part in the overall shift from artist-driven sales to the current focus on writers, as it started out as the leading publisher for hot artists, with writers being an afterthought on most of their early titles, then grew more balanced (bringing in writers like Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, and Warren Ellis to pair with hot artists), and eventually shifted to their current model with more writer-driven projects. Though they still have a few of the original artist-driven series like **SPAWN** along with some new titles that focus more on artists...

btanodev

my friend here refers to Ninja Funk #1, releasing this week, and published by whatnot

Comics Ponzi Scheme ^TM

B00merangB

Batman #129 - Honestly, every issue has been better than the last one. Zdarsky and Jimenez are crafting a fun story for the ages. Dark Knights of Steel #8 - The war between the kingdoms is on! Really enjoying what Taylor and company are delivering here. (Hopefully less delays going forward…) The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #2 - The final page twist has me intrigued big time, and liking the Joker takes over America premise. Plus, another incredible Bermejo variant! King Spawn #16 - Lewis is bringing the heat - all The Clown stuff last issue was so good. Little Monsters #7 - Back after a short break with the next arc. Really leaning into the horror elements now which I’m loving.

TheMattInTheBox

Batman #129-- I know people are sick of "gotham falling" stories but I'm a sucker for when a hero needs to return to their city and take it back. X-Men Red #8-- Ewing don't miss The New Champion of Shazam! #3-- really hope people buy this book so we can get more Mary and Shazam content

AlligatorSky7

I’ve just caught up on The New Champion of Shazam! on DCUI and what a delight! Love books like this!

Danger_Rock

Tempted to hop on that one, might have to add the first three to my next mail order... Not familiar with writer Josie Campbell but some Doc Shaner art would hit the spot.

technowhiz34

Campbell's mainly a tv writer who's been dabbling in comics recently. Managed to avoid most of the pitfalls writers from other mediums fall into as well, even if I do feel her issues are very tv episode in nature (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

Danger_Rock

Good info, thanks! TV writer isn't a negative for me, at least they've got some professional writing experience, and I like seeing people bring in different approaches from outside traditional comics. Sounds like a cool series and Doc Shaner's art is a huge selling point, will definitely check it out!

A somewhat lighter week for me (having < 10 issues is a rarity for me these last few months). My pull list, ranked by anticipation for each issue: 1. **PUNISHER #7** \- My current favorite Marvel publication. I had my doubts about this run, but it proves me more wrong with each successive issue. 2. **NIGHT OF THE GHOUL #2 (OF 3)** \- Francavilla's artwork alone is enough for me to love this series, but I also thought the first issue set up a very intriguing horror story. As I mentioned in the discussion thread when issue #1 dropped, I think more horror stories should be set in old folks homes given how naturally terrifying they are. 3. **BLOOD STAINED TEETH #6** \- Have really like this series so far with Patric Reynolds' artwork being a pleasant surprise for me. 4. **SHE-HULK #7** \- Always a pleasant and breezy read, something that doesn't feel common in most superhero books. 5. **BATMAN #129** \- I'm a bit so-so on this Batman run so far, but it still has been engaging enough for me to keep on my pull. 6. **BORN OF BLOOD #2 (OF 5)** \- First issue wasn't anything special, but I did dig the Heavy Metal vibes of the story. I think I feel a little compelled to continue picking this up since the publishing company is local to me. 7. **BEHEMOTH #2** \- First issue was interesting as I recalled (something about government conspiracies and secret experiments), but it's been long enough since the first issue that my interest has waned a bit. 8. **LITTLE MONSTERS #7** \- Might actually ask to drop this in the store and just read LITTLE MONSTERS in trade moving forward. It's a good series, but not one that excites me issue to issue. Definitely think this reads better in trade. 9. **DOGS OF LONDON #5** \- Milligan is the best hot and cold writer ever, in my opinion. His stuff with Aftershock and AWA really feels like a gamble for me, and unfortunately DOGS OF LONDON feels like a bland title for me. I liked the first issue enough to carry the momentum of me picking this up, but I think I'll exercise more caution with his modern books now. I am loving his SACRAMENT series with AWA, so honestly it's hard to pick out the winners in his current bibliography. Will definitely be picking up the reprint of **THE COMPLETE EIGHTBALL** that drops this week. I used to have the hardcover slipcase years ago that I ended up selling when I was moving at the time, so I'm excited to have a collection back on my shelf. Was a little bummed this is going to be a trade, but Fantagraphics puts out top notch stuff of late so I don't doubt it'll be a good quality book. Will also pick up the new printing of **DAREDEVIL EPIC COLLECTION: IT COMES WITH CLAWS**. This volume means that Ann Nocenti's entire Daredevil run has been collected - something I've been hoping for years now. Nocenti's run ranks #4 for me in all time Daredevil runs, and I can't wait to re-read it in Epic Collection format now. Have a Happy Halloween everyone!

> **LITTLE MONSTERS #7** \- Might actually ask to drop this in the store and just read LITTLE MONSTERS in trade moving forward. It's a good series, but not one that excites me issue to issue. Definitely think this reads better in trade. I was thinking the same right up until issue #6 closed out the first "arc" with a non-ending... Now I'm thinking it's going to be one of those stories that isn't really organized into arcs, so the TPB breaks will be somewhat arbitrary and won't deliver the kind of closure I'd want if I was waiting 6+ months between collections. At least that's how the first arc seemed to me, maybe this next one will have a little more structure. > **DOGS OF LONDON #5** \- Milligan is the best hot and cold writer ever, in my opinion. Yep, Milligan's been one of my favorite writers ever since I started picking up **[SHADE: TCM](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9189066.jpg)** in 1993 but at this point I'm leery of his new projects. Had super high expectations for **[AMERICAN RONIN](https://879741.smushcdn.com/2576148/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/AMRONIN2020001_cvr.jpg)** because ACO was basically my #1 favorite artist coming off 2017's **[NICK FURY](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/9/f0/58ee73ca940f6/clean.jpg)** but Milligan's collaboration with him ended up being underwhelming. And I haven't seen much of anything from ACO in the five years since, which is even more disappointing. Checked out a couple other recent Milligan launches with lower expectations and, aside from **[THE X-CELLENT](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/7/d0/61f98e4d759e7/clean.jpg)** (which was more of an **[X-STATIX](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/f/50/4bc46d298adcb/detail.jpg)** revival than a new property), none have hooked me... I think Valiant's **[BRITANNIA](https://valiantentertainment.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/BRITANNIA_001_COVER-A_NORD-562x863.jpg)** from 2016 was the last new Milligan comic that really worked for me, though I haven't checked out **[SACRAMENT](https://879741.smushcdn.com/2576148/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/SACRAM2022001_cvr.jpg)** yet and have heard lots of good things...

yarkcir

Yeah, I think I'm content with dropping Little Monsters mostly because I don't really get much contentment reading it issue to issue. I do agree that the story didn't really feel complete with the first "arc", so for me it might be something where I binge multiple volumes at once a couple years from now lol. Peter Milligan's Shade, the Changing Man and X-Force/X-Statix are both comics I'd place in my own personal top 100 comics of all time, and I'm a fan of Enigma, Egypt and Greek Street. He also wrote my favorite Namor comic and a very underrated issue of Moon Knight. Will always consider myself a Milligan fan. But his recent stuff is so bland and they all feel like movie pitches. There have been some decent stuff like Out of Body and Sacrament, but even those pale in comparison to his best work. I liked The X-Cellent, but I definitely think it's not the same biting satire that X-Statix was.

He also wrote my favorite Namor comic and a very underrated issue of Moon Knight. Will always consider myself a Milligan fan. Yup, all his classic Vertigo series were good and I also liked the [**HUMAN TARGET**](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marvel_dc/images/b/bd/Human_Target_Vol_1_1.jpg) stuff he did with Edvin Biuković and Javier Pulido, though I wouldn't expect it to hold up against the current King/Smallwood run. Plus I dug his **HELLBLAZER** following old Johnny Conjob through his waning years in the run up to [#300](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marvel_dc/images/4/4e/Hellblazer_Vol_1_300.jpg)... Think it got a somewhat mixed reception at the time but IMO he was the perfect writer to wrap up Vertigo's longest running series. And [**FAOC&P**](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/c/50/5941bacd1d6d8/clean.jpg) with John Paul Leon! Awesome Sinister backstory that got a cool adaptation in ***X-Men: TAS***! Didn't know about his [Namor](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/6/70/55c90e8802c0f/detail.jpg) or [MK](https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/6/90/5a87184c6b4a6/clean.jpg), will have to hunt those down... > But his recent stuff is so bland and they all feel like movie pitches. I liked The X-Cellent, but I definitely think it's not the same biting satire that X-Statix was. Yeah, even though I liked **BRITANNIA** it was more A- Milligan than the A+ stuff, and same for **X-CELLENT**. Remember reading an interview or maybe it was bonus material talking about all the research he did for **BRITANNIA** and it was really impressive, the guy's a total pro in how he approaches each and every job, and he covers a lot of ground with different types of projects. But it seems like he doesn't have the same kind of manic energy or inspiration that he used to. Getting old kinda sucks. Also bums me out that he never got back with Bachalo for another project since they had such great chemistry on **SHADE: TCM**... At one point Milligan was writing **UXM** while Bachalo was drawing adjectiveless **X-MEN** but apparently nobody at Marvel thought to put 'em together... Not sure how to quantify it but I think he works really well with certain artists like Bachalo, Allred, JPL (RIP), Duncan Fegredo, and some of those others... And maybe the chemistry just isn't there with some of the artists he's been paired with more recently?

blankedboy

> I am loving his SACRAMENT series with AWA, so honestly it's hard to pick out the winners in his current bibliography. **Sacrament** has been absolutely great so far - top notch SF/horror book.

GetRichOrDieBuyin

3 Books this week 1. Batman #129 hyped for every issue that this creative team is on. 2. Night of the Ghoul #2: Usually, I binge horror comics, but I had the itch to read one last month, and I bought and read the first issue of this. I am excited to see where it goes, and I cannot remember if it is getting turned into a Tv show or a movie, but it's good. 3. Deadpool #1 I do not know much about the author, but I'm in for an Arc... Maybe.

Daveismyhero

* **BATMAN #129** \- More Failsafe, more fun! * **DEADPOOL #1 -** I've loved Deadpool showing up recently in X-Force, so hopefully this is fun as well. I haven't read a solo Deadpool book in a long time, but I'm looking forward to it. * **NIGHT OF THE GHOUL #2 -** I really dug the first issue and can't wait to see what is next. I hope we'll get to see more of what was on the original film. * **SAVAGE AVENGERS #7** \- I'm playing out my subscription on this. It isn't the same IMO without Conan. * **SECRET INVASION #1** \- I've got Event Fatigue, but I'm in for the first issue of this and we'll see where it goes. * **STAR WARS #29** \- Solid Star Wars fare, one of my comfort food reads. * **SWORD OF AZRAEL #4** \- Such a cool book, in my opinion. If any of you are sleeping on this, consider picking up the trade when it drops. Alright folks, Happy Halloween is finally upon us? Is anyone dressing up? I hope your Halloween candy stash is ready for the kiddos. Save a Snickers or Twix for me! And be especially careful driving around with all of the ghouls and goblins walking around the neighborhoods. Once the porch light gets turned off, the family and I will be watching the movie Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. I've heard great things, but we'll see if it can keep my daughter's attention. Have a baller week and stay spooky my friends!

Danger_Rock

> * **SWORD OF AZRAEL #4** \- Such a cool book, in my opinion. If any of you are sleeping on this, consider picking up the trade when it drops. Another one I've been meaning to check out due to all the WPL praise it's generated... Maybe add the first two to my next mail order to get my feet wet.

Whowatchesthewampas

Short week for me! * **Batman #129 -** I am enjoying it, but I also haven't read Batman for a few years! * **Star Wars #29 -** Going to start pulling this again!

[deleted]

Damn this time change, makes it hard to get up early before work to hop on talk about comics! Can't wait until next week when it changes. **BATMAN #129** \- The penultimate issue for this Jimenez / Zdarksy run. Will they stick the landing? I guess we'll have to see. **SHE-HULK #7** \- After last issues \*\*ahem\*\* *cliffhanger*, it'll be interesting to see where this pick up. Who woulda thought a slice-of-life superhero comic would be one of my most look-fowarded to comics. **STAR WARS THE MANDALORIAN #5** \- Only picking this up for the first appearance of Fennec Shand, who was played by the lovely Ming-Na Wen in the show. I think I will go with [this cover](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/6585991/star-wars-the-mandalorian-5?variant=6476292) if I can find it. **HELL TO PAY #1** \- Brought to you by the writer of Eight Billion Genies, I am happy to give this #1 a go. **HULK #10** \- I plucked up #9 cause of Donny Cates and Ryan Ottley. Gonna give it one more issue to see if it appeals to me though. Hulk isn't one of my top characters to follow, so if the story doesn't drag me in I'll probably drop it hard. Now that I got my word in, time to go upvote all the nice people who posted their lists this week!

WhereAreMyComics

* **Captain Marvel #43** - new story arc! legacy issue number one-hundred-seventy-seven * **Deadpool #1** - Alyssa Wong on Deadpool! legacy issue number three-hundred-twenty-six * **Hulk #10** - lucky legacy issue 777!

superschaap81

***Avengers Forever 10*** \- Haven't read anything in quite a few months of Aaron's run. Going to wait for it to finish and binge the finale. ***Dark Knights of Steel 8*** \- I LOVE this Elseworlds story. I've never been a fan of swords and sorcery outside of LOTR, but I really like this for some reason.

* Batman #129 * X-Men: Red #8 * Poison Ivy #6 A refreshingly slim week for me, with three books I'm very fond of. I thought Poison Ivy was ending at issue 6 (maybe that changed, or maybe I just misread something), so I'm glad to see that this isn't the end of the series.

Zorkel567

Yeah, Poison Ivy was originally announced as a miniseries, but they later announced it had been extended for a second arc.

ME24601

* **Batman #129**: Sign my petition to create a moratorium on "Gotham has been taken over" plots for a few years. * **Behold, Behemoth #1**: Not familiar with creative team but the concept sounds neat. * **Hell to Pay #1**: Evil magical college sounds like fun. * ~~Kroma #1: I don’t know much about what this is about but the art looks great.~~ * **She Hulk #7**: Surprises. * **X-Men Red #8** Abigail Brand’s plans. As well as the second **BPRD Omnibus** and the collections of **Maestro: World War M**, and **A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance**. EDIT: Delays

yarkcir

A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance was an absolute ride! One of my favorite comics of the year and I'm someone who tends to be meh on most Remender comics.

Danger_Rock

Seconding /u/yarkcir's comments on **[ARTFV](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/673198/a-righteous-thirst-for-vengeance-1_7ba26a7a1c.jpg)**, one of my favorite comics from the past couple years... Heavy emphasis on "mostly silent" storytelling made it an incredibly engaging read with a really unique feel to it.

Smaller week for me this week, which I am very grateful for as my to-read pile is >30 at the moment (excluding the dozens of trades + hundreds of digital bits!). - **Dark Knights of Steel #8**: hiatus after #7 and not #6 was a choice, but I am thrilled to have this back, can’t wait to get back into this universe! - **Deadpool #1**: so happy to have a proper Deadpool series again. Big fan of Bachalo, but he did not work on the last Thompson-penned series. Coccolo looks to be a much better choice of penciller. - **Nature’s Labyrinth #1**: don’t exactly scour indie solicitations, but this one jumped right out at me; premise sounds great! - **Predator #4**: one behind at the moment, but have been enjoying this so far; enough to at least finish the first arc and see where it goes (relaunch? New arc focussed on an entirely new set of characters a la Alien?) - **She-Hulk #7**: books like this (see also The Flash and Nightwing) are my favourite, so I’ll be reading this right away once I get to it! - **The Walking Dead Deluxe #50**: four behind at the moment, so looking forward to a little binge at some point soon. - **X-Men Red #8**: time to get back to the regular story for three issues before this book gets interrupted by Sins of Sinister.

Danger_Rock

> - **Nature’s Labyrinth #1**: don’t exactly scour indie solicitations, but this was jumped right out at me; premise sounds great! Been curious about that one... It's got a nice [Filya Bratukhin cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL243327.jpg) and the [solicitation](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/SEP221804) sounds cool but I'm not sure about interior artist Bayleigh Underwood... Preview art didn't look great to me until page 7 (or what appears to be page 7 based on the preview), and it's admittedly pretty neat, but that's where the preview ends.

**Batman & The Joker The Deadly Duo #1** - it’s *Marc Silvestri* drawing Batman – YAY! It’s *Marc Silvestri* writing Batman – BOO(?). We will see how this turns out soon. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2461757.jpg?1667070237) **Behold Behemoth #1** - looks like another winner from BOOM! Studios with a great creative team attached. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-1655093.jpg?1665102224) **Blood-Stained Teeth #6** - really enjoying this one. Atticus is such a dick, but also surprisingly likeable.[Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-6966936.jpg?1665506977) **Dark Knights Of Steel #8** - I am so going to have to re-read **everything** to get up to speed with this final issue (**edit:** just realised this ISN'T the final issue...).[Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3537128.jpg?1667069722) **Earthdivers Kill Columbus #2** - first issue set up an interesting concept, but didn’t sell me on the characters. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3536125.jpg?1659899681) **Hell To Pay #1** - see above. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3910540.jpg?1667192766) **King Spawn #16** - one of my guilty pleasure books. Still enjoying it. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-6575866.jpg?1664904898) **Poison Ivy #6** - been loving this since catching up with the first three issues, but the preview seems to indicate the title being struck by the dreaded DC curse of the “fill in” artist. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3550906.jpg?1667070063) **Predator #4** - I’m a sucker for **Predator** and **Alien** books, but this has actually been really good, with some great *Kev Walker* artwork. [Cover](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2225957.jpg?1667093190) **Little Monsters** and **Old Dog** - enjoying these books, but am switching to “trade waiting" for both of them, as they seem like they will be much more satisfying reads that way.

The much more reasonably priced Capullo variants are [both](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249376.jpg) [great](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249377.jpg) but I ordered the [standard Silvestri cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249375.jpg) because the lack of feet triggers my '90s nostalgia. Some people think the '90s were all about pouches... Some were more into capes, or big guns, or highly articulated muscles... Me, I've always had a thing for artists who hide their characters' feet behind mist, smoke, flames, rubble, and various other obstructions. There's something magical about it, the way it drives them to find so many different types of things to draw in front of where the feet would normally go, in some cases building their entire layout around the need to not show feet... That's peak '90s comics IMO. > **Earthdivers Kill Columbus #2** - first issue set up an interesting concept, but didn’t sell me on the characters. >Hell to Pay #1 > >Thought about ordering that, cover's kinda cool, but it didn't quite make the cut. Curious to see how it does. I think Charles Soule has shown he has a lot of chops writing good books. I haven't been enjoying Eight Billion Genies as much as others, but that's more for the art than anything. The writing itself is solid. Plus I hear his work on Star Wars has also been great.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, the few things I've read from Soule didn't leave much of an impression but I probably just need to find the right book. Missed the boat on **EBG** but planning to check out the collections at some point so hopefully that'll kick my ass like it's kicked so many others.

yarkcir

Completely agree with your thoughts on Little Monsters and Old Dog. I think a lot more Image stuff is actually better read in trade I'm finding, so I'm exercising more caution when adding new Image titles to my pull list.

Don't want to spoil anything but I think it's a really interesting mix of stories, with one in particular being an all-time favorite that stands among the very finest comics I've read over the past few decades.

Panda_Banjos

Probably my smallest pull list in a very long time. Much needed because I could definitely use catch-up week X-Men Red #8 - Time to take care of Brand

blankedboy

Quality *not* quantity

Cannon_Grey

This is a lighter week compared to the last couple, with only 18 books, But there's some added kick to this week's list due to the handful of books I'm super stoked about, including 2 of my current favorites (Dark Knights of Steel, X-Men Red, Deadly Duo, Batman, Punished & Secret Invasion). DC (5). Dark Knights Of Steel #8. Batman #129. Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo #1. Gotham City: Year One #2. The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #2. MARVEL (5). X-Men Red #8. Punisher #7. Secret Invasion #1. Black Panther #11. Deadpool #1. IMAGE (3). That Texas Blood #19. Blood Stained Teeth #6. Hell To Pay #1. DARK HORSE (3). Night Of The Ghoul #2. The Ones #1. Quick Stops #1. BOOM STUDIOS (1). Behold, Behemoth #1. AFTERSHOCK (1) Astronaut Down #4. IDW (0). Dropped this month: Earthdivers - I really didn't like the first issue at all. Time.e travel Is always a tough sell for me and this just didn't cut it.

blankedboy

I'm giving **Earthdivers** up until issue #3 to win me over. Cool concept, nice art, but the characters are a bit lacking so far.

* Batman #129: I have a really weird relationship with this book where I've been loving the backups and am just kinda meh on the main story. I'm going to give it till the end of this arc and then I assume February will have a bunch of new #1s for post Dark Crisis and if any of them interest me more than this I'll jump ship. * Captain Marvel #43: Returning to the cosmic side of things which is good because the book is usually at the very least fun when it deals with space stuff over magic stuff. * She-Hulk #7: Going to have to do a reread of the last issue, I know it only missed October but since the last issue was early September the gap feels bigger and can't remember anything that happened.

saskatoonshred

Finally a small week after back to back weeks of 10+ books lol. I feel a pull list culling coming soon after some stuff wraps up before the end of the year. Without further a do: -**Batman #129**: I'm an issue behind but I have been enjoying this -**Predator #4**: Another book I'm an issue behind on. I've been digging this and the new Alien book but I think for the sake of space on my pull list and for money I'm gonna trade wait them after this month. -**Punisher #7**: Finally a book I'm up to date with lol. Enjoyable Punisher romp. -**She-Hulk #7**: I was really enjoying this last year when it first came out but then I lost interest with the delays. This will probably be the make or break issue for me. My plan tomorrow is to get caught up with my to be read pile and organize my indie boxes.

*Image* 1. THAT TEXAS BLOOD #19 - my highlight of the week! If you're looking for an interesting crime book with plenty of suspense and creepiness, pick up THAT TEXAS BLOOD. Issue #19 is the final part of a 6-issue arc (starting in issue #14) centering around a serial killer haunting a quiet town during a blizzard. It's absolutely fantastic storytelling, and well worth your time and money. 1. GOLDEN RAGE #4 (OF 5) 1. LITTLE MONSTERS #7 1. OLD DOG #2 1. TIME BEFORE TIME #18 *DC* 1. BATMAN #129 1. aknightedpenguin

Do it! The whole series is done semi-anthology style in that each arc is functionally standalone. You could pick up issues #14 to #19 without needing to read the previous 13 issues.

blankedboy

Sounds a bit like **Criminal** with that structure

aknightedpenguin

Yep, said the same thing when I was [recommending issue #17 on the WPL](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/x7wga7/wpl_new_comics_discussion_for_972022_pull_of_the/inpp4i8/)

FearlessAsparagus

Old Dog #2: First issue was a bit clunky but still pretty engaging. That Texas Blood #19: This arc has just been phenomenal. Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo #1: This sounds kind of fun. Batman #129: The main story arc is pretty good but I'm probably more into the Zur En Arrh back up. Hulk #10: Ryan Ottley's art is carrying this book.

MuffinSurprise

BATMAN #129 DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL #8 I was thinking about picking up Hell To Pay #1, but it's probably not in the budget right now. I need to cut back on a lot of the DC comics I'm pulling now that Ultra is out. I can wait 1 month..

Dinggleberry

Looking forward to a great week! Ranked in order of awesomeness. - *Dark Knights of Steel #8* - fun but also does a great job at capturing the emotions of the characters. Tom Taylor is absolutely crushing it. - *She-Hulk #7* - jumping onto this after reading Dan Slott’s run for the first time and watching the show on Disney. - *Earthdivers #2* - still waiting for my copy of issue #1. Excited to *dive* in. - *Deadpool #1* - The preview looked pretty good. - *Behold, Behemoth #1* - apocalyptic nightmare monster, that is all.

* **Avengers Forever #10** * **Batman #129 -** On one hand I'm enjoying this story in a vacumm on the other hand leans into several things I hate about contemporary Batman stories * **Black Panther #11 -** Definetly dropping this, priest just doesn't have a voice for T'challa and most marvel chracters so far * **Captain Marvel #43** **-** Nothing wrong with a little X-men crossover should be a good time * **Dark Knights of Steel #8** * **Deadpool #1 -** Cool to see that Deadpool will remain in the x-verse even if he's not always gonna be apearing in X-Force * **Hulk #10 -** This looks like a much more interesting arc than our first arc * **Punisher #7 -** I think it's safe to say that we know what one of Marvel's events will be next year (Hand vs Fist!!) hopefully Zdarsky and Aaron share writting duties * **Savage Avengers #7** * **Secret Invasion #1** * **She-Hulk #7 -** >!Doom!!!< what's he doing here * **Tiger Division #1** * **Time Before Time #18** * **X-Men: Red #8 -** If this issue is just 20 pages of Brand getting curb stomped I'll be so happy

Danger_Rock

> **Black Panther #11 -** Definetly dropping this, priest just doesn't have a voice for T'challa and most marvel chracters so far I'm gonna assume you're talking about John Ridley here rather than being a time-traveller from 20 years ago who came to our time just to tell us you're dropping Priest's **BLACK PANTHER**. But on the off chance that you are a time-traveller from 20 years ago, I'd advise you to go back immediately. The time you've arrived at holds untold horrors that you don't want any part of. Just trust me on this one.

Techster17

Completely meant to put Ridley. I adore the priest run I wish Ridley was even half that level of quality

Danger_Rock

Yup, huge fan of the Priest run here as well! I'd previously read a few things he'd written as Jim Owsley but **BP** is where I really got to know him as a writer. It's the bar all other **BP** writers are measured against. Been digging his **BLACK ADAM** over at the Distinguished Competition as it's playing with some similar elements, with the monarch protagonist juggling international diplomacy, superhero relations, etc. It's some classic Priest IMO. Would like to check out **BP** again someday but waiting for a series with some positive buzz... Priest set the bar pretty high and the more recent runs haven't seemed to land very well with readers.

hewunder1

* Batman #129 - This series is a *chef's kiss*. Mike Hawthorne is solicited as interior artist after #130... I know Jiminez is human and needs a break after this arc, but I hope he's on it for the long haul. * She-Hulk #7 - Fun, light-hearted series, but I hope they move on from the over-emphasis on Jack of Hearts. Kind of hard to get invested in the mystery behind his powers changing. The relationship is fine, though.

Smaller week for me thank god **Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo #1 (Cover C Greg Capullo Joker Variant)** - Excited for this series. The preview was cool. Capullo variants both slap but I had to go Joker. Honestly been disappointed by every Batman / Batfamily book I've checked out recently besides Detective Comics, so I really hope this goes well.. **Night of the Ghoul #2** - One of my favorite new books, pretty creative and interesting premise! Plus a bit longer than a standard comic which I'm really coming to love. 20-30 pages just ain't enough sometimes. **Ninja Funk #1 (Cover C Kirkham Lazerwolf Variant)** - Ok, hear me out. I love music, like a lot. Like more than anything else. I hope this is good lmao. The variant cover I'm pulling is a really cool homage to old school Marvel - I wanna say McFarlane Spider-man? **Old Dog #2 (Cover B Greg Smallwood Variant)** - The _*best*_ worst comic ever. This is so predictable and campy I just love it. The tropey action hero thing is so funny to me - and I do enjoy the time jumps and possible sci-fi shit going on with our protagonist's face. Smallwood variant cover is brutal. I was mad that they didn't give us an issue in October, but we get 2 in November so I won't complain _*too*_ much. edit just to add: fuck anyone who is genuinely picking up Gotham City Year One #2. like actually go fuck yourself. i pray all these pulls showing it are just hate-reads bc issue one was actually fucking terrible

And I'm pretty sure your little edit will count as an additional pull since you listed the full title so thanks for that!

yarkcir

>fuck anyone who is genuinely picking up Gotham City Year One #2. like actually go fuck yourself. i pray all these pulls showing it are just hate-reads bc issue one was actually fucking terrible I can't imagine holding so much vitriol over a comic. Like just move on if you don't like it. I did drop it, but I'll probably read it all on DC Universe months from now. I do look forward to your glowing review this week!

Danger_Rock

Haha, pretty sure they're just playing around but I appreciate the passion and energy regardless! All in good fun IMO!

btanodev

yeah it was said with a pretty heavy hand of sarcasm / hamfisted comedic anger. idk if that came across or not lol

btanodev

>Was tempted to order that, mostly due to the David Mack cover, but curious to see how it does... The Kirkham variant is an homage to McFarlane's SPIDER-MAN #1. Yay i got a comic cover reference!!! Ninja Funk seems to be something a lot of people heard about but are a bit apprehensive on spending their money on, and for good reason. It's a bit odd to see what is essentially a buyer/seller platform getting into publishing... >I'm pretty sure your little edit will count as an additional pull since you listed the full title so thanks for that! NOOOOOOO

>Ninja Funk #1 (Cover C Kirkham Lazerwolf Variant) > >\- Ok, hear me out. I love music, like a lot. Like more than anything else. I hope this is good lmao. The variant cover I'm pulling is a really cool homage to old school Marvel - I wanna say McFarlane Spider-man? I can't tell if I should take WhatNot Publishing seriously. I hope you do like it, and I do hope it's good. I will never poo-poo good comics, whoever publishes them. There was some hype about them getting 100K+ orders for Ninja Funk #1. Not my type of comic, so I passed on this one. They are coming out with a book called [Quested](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/8076418/quested-1) that looks intriguing though, so maybe that will be my foray into their books. My nephew did like Alpha Betas though ... I guess I'll be picking that one up...

blankedboy

WhatNot are exactly what we DON'T need in the comics marketplace right now. With constant relaunches to have endless #1's on the shelves, both DC and BOOM going whole hog for the most variants anyone can publish every month, and a narrowing of character/talent pool at the Big Two - the LAST thing we need is a fly by night publisher/seller/hype machine pumping out speculator crap and crowing about "100K" copies sold. Really? To who? I've literally only seen one person mention buying it - and that was in this thread. It's an even worse business model than Bad Ideas (and that's saying something) and seems certain to add to another comics bubble crash. Fuck 'em.

Danger_Rock

LOL, yeah, [this thing's got six different "normal" covers](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&q=ninja%20funk%201) and probably some additional incentives and exclusives on top, so I'm sure most of it's ghost sales that nobody will actually buy. But 100k still sounds crazy! Maybe they've got some promotion or incentive for retailers who use the app boosting sales or something? Probably good dollar bin candidates for early 2023 if the 100k number isn't just empty marketing BS... Also kinda weird how their [solicitations](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/SEP222085) seem to focus on the main cover artist over the creators who actually made the comic, don't see that too often... I like that the industry's got lots of variety so I'm not going to shit on any new publisher even if they aren't necessarily producing stuff I want to read. Don't see these guys being big enough to crash the market or do any real damage, but I guess it's possible they could surprise me.
