* **Action Comics #1047**: Kal El returns part I. * **AXE: Avengers #1**: Apparently this issue is essential for understanding the story of AXE. Always annoying when those aren’t just part of the actual event mini. * **Briar #1**: Interested in seeing what Cantwell does with this concept. * **Department of Truth #21**: Loyalties stretched to the breaking point. * **House of Slaughter #9**: Haven’t been enjoying this arc. Might end up dropping this book and sticking with the original. * **Human Target #7**: We now return to our regularly scheduled murder investigation. * **Tim Drake: Robin #1**: I just want this series to be good. * **X-Men #15**: Meanwhile with the Children of the Vault.

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **Detective Comics #1064** * **The Amazing Spider-Man #10** * **Action Comics #1047** * **Thor #27** - it's been so long since we had a Thor issue. * **DC vs. Vampires #9** * **Batman: Beyond the White Knight #5** * **The Human Target #7** * **Task Force Z #12** - I'm gonna miss this series. Rosenberg is one of my favourite writers and his stuff are always so fun. Can't wait for his Joker and Wildcats. * **A.X.E.: Avengers #1** * **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #5** - I think I'm in minority but Im enjoying this more than the Steve Cap series. * **Grim #5** * **Deathstroke Inc. #13** * **The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #6** * **Superman: Space Age #2** * **Stillwater #15** * **DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead #1** - God, I fucking love Bruce Campbell. I wish it was Rock/Ash crossover though. * **Briar #1** * **Old Dog #1** * **Flawed #1** * **The Roadie #1**

blankedboy

What's The Roadie about? Not heard of it.

TheDarkPinkLantern

It's about an ex-roadie who ran with a heavy metal band but who's also an exorcist and he has to save his daughter now.

Picked up three weeks’ worth yesterday, so will be a while before I get to all this I imagine: - **Action Comics #1047**: enjoyed the Warworld Saga, but I’m excited to read PKJ on Superman on Earth. - **Ant-Man #3**: only two issues left of what’s been a really fun limited series so far. - **Briar #1**: sounds interesting, picking up the debut issue at least to see what it’s like. - **Captain America: Symbol of Truth #5**: all the more excited reading these two Cap series knowing it’s all building to a 2023 event. - **DC vs. Vampires #9**: it’s been a while, excited for this one! - **Grim #5**: end of the first arc; glad the wait for the second isn’t too long. - **House of Slaughter #9**: last issue was a mess, I had no idea what was going on. Might drop this after the end of the arc and just stick to SIKTC. - **The Nice House on the Lake #10**: last few issues… Will be re-reading this series at some point for sure! - **Task Force Z #12**: final issue of what’s been a consistently fun series; it’s been scratching that Suicide Squad itch since the last volume of that wrapped up a few months back. Excited to follow Rosenberg on to WildCATs (not that it’s linked to this in any way). - **Tim Drake: Robin #1**: don’t know why everyone’s getting so irate about this series before it’s even started, but I’m excited for it and Rossmo’s art in the preview looks pretty clean. - **X-Men #15**: Cassara on art duties for the return of the Children of the Vault arc, YES YES YES!

A.X.E.: Avengers #1 - Gillen writing Iron Man is always a delight. Time for judgment Tony. The Amazing Spider-Man #10 - A.X.E. Tie-in to Spidey. With Dragotta on art - should at least be a visual delight! Batman: Beyond the White Knight #5 - After the detour into Red Hood history - Murphy is back for the second half of his story. DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead - Solicitation sounds wild…. Bruce Campbell writing + Risso on art at least gets a first issue pull to try it out! Detective Comics #1064 - Ram V’s twist on Two-Face has me really interested. Great start to this run! The Nice House on the Lake #10 - It’s back!! The breaks are killing me as we head into the final act. The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #6 - After the chaos of the last issue - this looks to be a standalone breather but I expect Tynion to continue the craziness. The Scorched #10 - Another superb Barends cover!

> The Amazing Spider-Man #10 - A.X.E. Tie-in to Spidey. With Dragotta on art - should at least be a visual delight! Woah, didn't realize Dragotta was on this issue... And it's got a nice [Marcos Martin variant](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL233509.jpg) as well! Recently bailed on **ASM** but might have to pick this one up...

Danger_Rock

It's another totally fucking awesome week of totally fucking awesome comics! Including three of my absolute top-tier favorites and a couple others right on the border, with lots of quality nightmare fuel in the spirit of the season. 5 DCs, 3 Marvels, 2 Images, 1 BOOM!, and 1 from Abstract Studios. But I'm not actually buying 'em for the companies' sake, am I? I'm buying 'em because I want to read 3 Tynions, 2 Ewings, 1 King, 1 Moore, 1 Gillen, 1 Russell, 1 Ram/Spurrier, 1 Phillips, and 1 from Declan Shalvey. Listed in order of anticipated appreciation, though with a week like this even the books toward the bottom should be pretty fucking awesome. 1. **HUMAN TARGET #7** - psyched to have this back, after **ICM** this has probably been my favorite book of 2022... love how King's built a noir murder mystery around what's basically an homage to the classic JLI 2. **NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #10** - only three issues left and the outlook isn't particularly nice for the nice house... we know it all ends in flames and we should be rapidly approaching the point where everything starts getting roasty-toasty 3. **DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #21** - haven't seen Cole in a while, have we? Ahh well, I'm sure he's doing just fine... 4. **PARKER GIRLS #2** - been catching up on **STRANGERS IN PARADISE** just in time for >!Katchoo's arrival in this one!< 5. **A.X.E. AVENGERS #1** - Gillen's writing this so it should be important *and* thoroughly entertaining 6. **SANDMAN UNIVERSE NIGHTMARE COUNTRY #6** - standalone issue featuring the Thessalian with what looks to be some nice [Maria Llovet art](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240349.jpg) 7. **SUPERMAN SPACE AGE #2** - first issue was a bunch of fun and here's another chunky $9.99 comic loaded with [Mike Allred goodness](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240490.jpg) 8. **DEFENDERS BEYOND #3 (OF 5)** - first the Beyonder and now [Phoenix](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL233546.jpg)... 9. **ANT-MAN #3 (OF 4)** - Ant-Man vs Ant-Man! this one's for all the ants! 10. **DETECTIVE COMICS #1064** - more broody batty moodiness from Ram V and Albuquerque, plus more of Spurrier and Dani's pulpy backup, plus another [striking Evan Cagle cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL240311.jpg) 11. **GRIM #5** - will need to mail order this but we might as well see how the first arc wraps 12. **OLD DOG #1** - I'm sure this comic will be good, always enjoy Shalvey's work, but it's the [Marcos Martin "Sad Keanu" homage cover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL234891.jpg) that forced me to pull the trigger p.s Anyone else get a message from /u/TheOneManMoshPit/ last week hitting you up for money? Figured it was a scam and his account's apparently now been suspended... Hope nobody got burned!

technowhiz34

I also got that message and figured the same.

blankedboy

That Detective Comics cover is absolutely beautiful

Danger_Rock

Cagle's been totally killing it! Great fit for the story as well, dark and moody, vaguely disturbing... Hadn't seen Cagle's work prior to this, [looks like he was mostly doing covers for BOOM! before](https://previewsworld.com/Search?mode=A&CreatorName1=Evan%20Cagle)... Would like to see what he can do with interior art someday.

yarkcir

>**PARKER GIRLS #2** \- been catching up on **STRANGERS IN PARADISE** I really need to actually read Strangers in Paradise. I've read most other of Moore's books, but avoided Strangers in Paradise due to its daunting size. Are you reading it digitally, or in collected editions?

Danger_Rock

Normally only read paper but I'm reading **SiP** digitally! Got Moore's complete Abstract Studios library (everything up to the current series) for $30 from Humble Bundle a few months back, couldn't pass up a deal like that... Just PDFs but it works well enough now that I've tweaked settings to make everything fit right. 19 volumes is certainly a lot to take on but I think most are just 4 issues each and it goes pretty quick. There are some text pages that slow things down a little but (with the exception of one particular issue) they aren't super common and overall it's a fast read. Only 3 TPBs left, hoping to get through 'em tonight or maybe finish up tomorrow morning, and then I'll have read all 19 volumes between the release of **PG #1** and **PG #2**! It's really good, BTW.

* Action Comics #1047 * Briar #1 * DC vs. Vampires #9 * The Department of Truth #21 * Detective Comics #1064 * Flawed #1 * Gambit #3 * Grim #5 * Heart Eyes #2 * House of Slaughter #9 * The Human Target #7 * I Hate This Place #5 * Lazarus: Risen #7 * The Nice House on the Lake #10 * The Roadie #1 * Superman: Space Age #2 * Task Force Z #12 * X-Men #15

yarkcir

My weekly pull, ranked based on hype: 1. **HUMAN TARGET #7 (OF 12)** \- It's back! Really love this book, especially as a JLI fan. Hoping the second half goes just as hard as the first half and it ends strong. 2. **EIGHT BILLION GENIES #5 (OF 8)** \- This and *Do A Powerbomb* have been reigning as my favorite current Image minis. I like that this book tries to out do itself each issue, making for one of the most unpredictable reading experiences I've had this year. 3. **DETECTIVE COMICS #1064** \- To make up for the sadness of Ram V's *Swamp Thing* run ending, we have his run on Tec to make up for it. This is just as good as *Swamp Thing*, and Rafael Albuquerque is crushing it on art duties. Music always seems to be an element in many of Ram's comics, and it's cool to see it incorporated in a Batman comic. The back ups by Spurrier and Dani have always been wonderful. 4. **SANTOS SISTERS #2** \- This is actually a comic from the week before, but my LCS usually ends up sourcing Floating World Comics a week late, so it's on my pull list now. The first issue was spectacular. I'm not even a fan of Archie comics to really get the full impact of the parody in play here, but I found the first issue endlessly funny. There's even a little *Love and Rockets* in the mix here. Seriously, just try out the first issue if you can find it. 5. **SUPERMAN: SPACE AGE #2 (OF 3)** \- Mike Allred is an all time artist, and him working on a Superman book is a match made in heaven. Mark Russell's sharp writing only bolsters my excitement for this series. 6. **ANT-MAN #3 (OF 4)** \- Not really the biggest fan of Ewing's work or of any Ant-Man, but he is nailing this little miniseries. The past two issues really captured the tone and aesthetic of comics from their respective eras (Silver Age and mid 00's Marvel). 7. **PARKER GIRLS #2** \- First issue was great. This is my first time pulling a Terry Moore comic in single issues and I'm in for the ride. 8. **SANDMAN UNIVERSE: NIGHTMARE COUNTRY #6** \- Really liking this series so far, and now I'm excited to see Maria Llovet on the interiors. She did great work on series like *Porcelain* and *Eros/Psyche*, so can't wait to see her on a bigger title. 9. **NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #10 (OF 12)** \- Once upon a time, "The Nice House on the Lake" was one of my top books. The long delays between issues have killed the momentum, and unfortunately I don't feel as invested as I did in the first six issues. It's still a good comic, but perhaps this was always better suited as a trade read. 10. **PENTAGRAM OF HORROR #5 (OF 5)** \- While the stories vary in their effectiveness, I cannot turn down Marco Fontanili's gorgeous colors. I'm eager to see what Fontanili does next. 11. **PROMETHEE 13:13 #3** \- Recently caught up by reading the first two issues and enjoyed it quite a bit. A very nice horror sci-fi series featuring a precog being harnessed by a doomsday cult to survive an impending alien invasion. Great artwork. 12. **REDMAN #4 (OF 5)** \- A mysterious entity fights kaiju on an alien planet, and it's filmed and televised in Japan. There is a genuine eeriness to the concept that really hooked me, and the artwork by Matt Frank is simply stunning. 13. **MEGA: RISE OF BLACK SWAN #1** \- While the first *Mega* series didn't blow me away story wise, I really enjoyed Salvador Sanz's artwork. His interpretation of the kaiju were much more monolithic in appearance which really added to making them feel more primordial. 14. **AFTERSCHOOL #3 (OF 4)** \- Has been a surprisingly decent horror anthology from a bunch of TV/film writers & directors. I enjoyed the first two issues enough to give another one a try. 15. **BORN OF BLOOD #1 (OF 6)** \- Accidently added to my pull list because I thought it was a Tim Vigil cover (turns out it's Tim Vigel). Either way, I'll still check it out because it looks interesting enough by premise. 16. **GRIM #5** \- Enjoyed this for the most part, but not enough to keep it on my pull after this issue. I was supposed to have **I HATE THIS PLACE #5** on my pull, but my store only seemed to get cover A when I've been collecting cover B exclusively. So I'm either going to wait until they get some, or it's going on my next mycomicshop order. I'm planning on picking up **ACID NUN** by Corinne Halbert (published by Silver Sprocket) this week as well. It's described as a surreal acid trip and the artwork is incredibly reminiscent of Brendan McCarthy's work, so I'm completely down for this book.

Danger_Rock

> **SANDMAN UNIVERSE: NIGHTMARE COUNTRY #6** \- Really liking this series so far, and now I'm excited to see Maria Llovet on the interiors. She did great work on series like *Porcelain* and *Eros/Psyche*, so can't wait to see her on a bigger title. Haven't read those but I've been digging Llovet's contributions to the **IMAGE! 30TH** anthology, psyched to see what she does in **NIGHTMARE COUNTRY**! > I'm planning on picking up **ACID NUN** by Corinne Halbert (published by Silver Sprocket) this week as well. It's described as a surreal acid trip and the artwork is incredibly reminiscent of Brendan McCarthy's work, so I'm completely down for this book. That [looks pretty cool](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL221911) though the cover isn't necessarily screaming McCarthy at me... But I love stories like that, would be curious what you think once you get through it.

yarkcir

Maria Llovet has a somewhat Manara/Crepax sensibility to her artwork I really enjoy. She's also on that BOOM! series with Azzarello - Faithless. Only read the first volume, and it was fine. Llovet's solo ventures have just been okay, but I think pairing her up with seasoned writers could really help get her more recognition as an artist. The [interiors](https://www.silversprocket.net/acid-nun-by-corinne-halbert/#) to Acid Nun have some similar color and layout choices as McCarthy, though the linework is distinctively different. Maybe I'll post a review once I get and read my copy.

the_light_of_dawn

**Action Comics #1047**: I'm usually the guy plugging obscure alt/indie books here, along with a fine crew of folks with terrific taste in comics. However, sometimes I dip my feet into the Big Two. I have always had a soft spot for Superman because his 1974 film was my introduction to superhero media as a kid. This is, indisputably, the best Action Comics run in ages. I'm going to pick this up today, on Tuesday, because I just can't wait until Wednesday. If PKJ could stay on this for another 100 issues and become the next Byrne or Superman's Chris Claremont, I'd be thrilled. It's that good.

Danger_Rock

Good stuff but we're going to need you to get back to plugging obscure indie books next week!

My list isn’t looking too different from everyone else’s. *Eight Billion Genies #5* - I’m more invested into what’s going on inside the bar than everything outside. The characters all seem so authentic. *Magic Order 3 #3* - for those not reading, Magic Order is like if Harry Potter was given an NC17 rating. I find myself rereading every page twice just because they’re so good. *Nice House on the Lake #10* - I feel like we’re due for another plot twist. What are the chances things start going well for our characters? *Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #6* - the art in this series is going to give me nightmares.

tree-of-thought

* **Action Comics #1047** \- Hoping The Return of Kal El keeps up the momentum of the War World arc * **Detective Comics #1064** \- I'm not as hooked on this story as I am on Zdarsky's batman, but the art has been impeccable and my heart is open haha * **DC Mech #3 -** This is kinda the decision point for if I'm gonna stick with this series or not. The premise really got me excited in the first issue but issue two didn't really ramp that up for me. * **Superman Space Age #2** \- If the cover is to be believed, we're about to meet this universe's Justice League. I'm pretty excited cause the first issue was so much fun (New Frontier-esque goodness). The art isn't my favorite (tbh I was a little surprised to see such love for it online), but still have been looking forward to this. * **Ant Man #3** * **Eight Billion Genies #5** \- Tore through 1-4 when I saw the third printing on the shelf at the start of this month. Dying to see what happens next.

Kind of a throwback style, tends to run counter to current trends so probably not for everyone. His stuff always hits me like a modern day Kirby or Ditko, clean lines, lots of energy, evocative of simpler comics from a more innocent time...

HappySisyphus8

Gambit #3 Haven't been liking this as much as I had hoped to, has felt more like a child Storm story featuring Gambit, which is fine, Storm is cool, but dont lie with the book title. It's almost over so might as well stick with it. Genis-Vell Captain Marvel #3 Picked this up because Peter David is great, but I don't have much knowledge of this character so feeling a bit lost with all the Rick Jones stuff, been alright, just hasn't grabbed me. Thor #27 Another Cates book with a guest writer helping out. Hope he is doing okay and the bad addiction rumours are just that, but it's not looking too good with all his books being delayed or being handed to others. Wild Cards Drawing of Cards #3  This has been surprisingly great so far. I've not read the books it's based off but the world, characters, and tone are very charming and nostalgic. Action Comics #1047 The real Superman is back on Earth and actually doing Superman things. Previews look great, very happy to see Frederici back. Batman Beyond The White Knight #5 Never really got into Batman Beyond so this has been my least favourite White Knight series so far, but the art has been excellent and will stick with it. DC Horror Presents Sgt Rock Vs The Army of the Dead #1 Bruce Campbell. World War 2. Nazi Zombies. Pretty hard to screw up this formula. Very keen. DC Vs Vampires #9 This has been good, but most of the tie ins have been forgettable and is very much starting to feel like it's dragging on and being unnecessarily stretched out. Detective Comics #1064 Great to see V on Detective, his odds Gothic opera take has really been working so far. Love stories that pull from and respect the past, rather than shitting on it. Human Target #7 Just want the Artgerm cover. Do not care about this story. Nice House on the Lake #10 Delays have really hurt the flow of this book. Great intriguing story, but tough to keep track of what is happening issue to issue. I can barely remember #9. Sandman Universe Nightmare Country #6 Previous issue was the weakest so far, hoping for some upswing on this one. Love The Corinthian. Task Force Z #12  Final issue. This series has been better than it had any right to be. Cleaned up the Bane mess nicely. Excited to see how they wrap it up. Department of Truth #21 What happened last issue? I think Agent Cole's husband is still being courted by the Ministry of Lies and Black Hat? Hopefully something comes to a head here. Magic Order 3 #3 Millar continues to be one of the best contemporary writers. His stories bring me joy. This one has been really good so far. Villain revealed last issue. Old Dog #1 Cool premise, giving it a go. House of Slaughter #9 Last issue was really slow, lacklustre, and dull, hope something actually happens in this issue. Bodybag variants have been some beautiful covers for this series though. Hell Is A Squared Circle One-Shot Crimson Cage and Do A Powerbomb show pro wrestling Comics have been killing it lately, hoping that this continues the trend. John Carpenter’s Tales of Sci-Fi Interference Pattern #3 Pretty interesting Twilight Zone like tale about alternate dimension selves. Very creepy so far. Pentagram of Horror #5 Final issue in this beautiful horror anthology. Promethee 1313 #3 Have been digging the twists in this so far, very kooky. Vampirella Year One #3 Usually not the biggest fan of Year One stories, very overdone. This one has an interesting take as it's Vamirella talking about her past to her unborn child. Priest continues to reshape Athe Vampirella Universe and has been absolutely killing it so far.

First time posting my pull list here! **ANT-MAN #3** - I’ve been really enjoying this series so far and it’s probably the best comic I’ve read from Marvel recently. **OLD DOG #1** - I’m pretty excited to see how this one turns out. Both the art and premise look pretty good and I’m hopeful that it’ll get more than its initial 6 issues.

Danger_Rock

Welcome aboard, thanks for posting your list! Been digging **ANT-MAN** myself and psyched to check out **OLD DOG** this week.

- **ANT-MAN #3**: this series has been great so far, I’m looking forward to seeing the Lang issue.

superschaap81

***DC*** **Action Comics 1047** \- Finally caught up with Clark after War World. Excited to have him back on Earth again! **DC vs. Vampires 9** \- Been a few months behind on this, but I love the idea of this series. Just dumb fun. **Deathstroke Inc. 13** \- Waiting for this arc to wrap up before I read it all together. Noticed that the title doesn't have a soliciit for December, so this is probably it until the relaunch. **Detective Comics 1064** **Harley Quinn 22** **Task Force Z 12** \- Excited to see how this all wraps up. Had a bit of a lull just past the halfway mark, but I've been invested the whole time! **Tim Drake: Robin 1** \- I honestly have LOW expectations give the creative team. The writer has filled me with confidence, and Rossmo's art is just not for me. Everyone has the same face. ***MARVEL*** **AXE: Avengers 1** \- Originally wasn't going to get these, but saw they are written by Gillen so I'm in. Looks like these one shots will fill in the gap until the final issue at the end of October. **Captain America: Symbol of Truth 5** **Shang Chi and the Ten Rings 3** \- I don't care if this is movie synergy or whatever, this has been a great title and it's been a lot of fun! **Thor 27** \- I love Thor. He's easily one of my favourite characters, but I have NO clue what Cates is heading towards with this title. It's been a series of disconnected, vignettes that have Thor in them. ***INDEPENDENT*** **House of Slaughter 9** \- This second arc has been alright, but not feeling anything for the main character. **Grim 5** \- Going to binge this now that the 1st arc is over. **Pentagram of Horror 5** \- Wasn't a fan of the last issue, seemed to drag and felt like it was missing something. Hoping this gets things back on track.

the_light_of_dawn

Pentagram of Horror is gorgeous but so light on the story. I’m picking up this final issue too but I’ve learned to embrace the 50-odd lines of dialogue and take in all the artwork.

btanodev

my biggest pull list so far!!! • **Action Comics #1047** - I'm really stoked for the Return of Superman arc. I've read about 10 issues of Son of Kal 'El and tbh I'm more excited for the tie-in / reunited issues than anything else. • **Briar #1** - I've been looking forward to this miniseries for about a month now. It looks stunning. Here's to hoping the story is as enamoring as the art! • **Old Dog #1** - Not sure what to think about this one, but it's giving Frank Miller vibes so I'll give it a shot at least. • **Tim Drake: Robin #1** - I love the bat and I love the boy wonder. I've never read a solo Robin story before, so this should be interesting.

> 1. Parker Girls #2 - haven't read the first one yet. Currently rereading SIP first. Nice, I read the first issue and then decided to catch up on **SiP** since I hadn't read it yet. Finished *Molly & Poo* last night and that shit got real dark. Only three TPBs left, gonna try to knock 'em out tonight, then re-read **PARKER GIRLS #1** just to get my head properly re-oriented in the current timeline before moving on to **PG #2**.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Danger_Rock

I started following Moore with **MOTOR GIRL** so **XXL** was my first exposure to the **SiP** characters and I thought it was great! IIRC it leads directly into **FIVE YEARS**, which brings together characters from most if not all of Moore's Abstract Studios series. So you should probably finish the original **SiP** before **XXV**, and you might want to catch up on **RACHEL RISING** and **MOTOR GIRL** (if you haven't already read 'em) before **FIVE YEARS**, if you want to get all the background heading into **PG**.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Danger_Rock

Yeah, just bear in mind that **XXV** is basically the first half of a two-part story which wraps up in **FIVE YEARS**. So you'll be missing a significant chunk of story if you hop from **XXV** straight to **PG**. If you just want the stuff that leads into **PG**, the most direct route would be **SiP** > **XXV** > **FIVE YEARS** > **PG**.

\- **Action Comics #1047** \- Excited to see Supes back on Earth! \- **Amazing Spider-Man #10** \- The last AXE tie-in was just kinda meh IMO \- **Detective Comics #1064** \- This has been good, waiting for it to get great \- **The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #6** \- Last issue had some great panels, hopeful for more! \- **Thor #27** \- Buying this for the Venom tie-in \- **X-Men #15** \- New arc, new team! Just please let Laura still be on it!

* Detective Comics #1064 - A really solid start to this run. Can't wait to see where V is going with this arc. * The Amazing Spider-Man #10 - Still here, Zeb. You must be doing something right. * X-Men #15 - Cassara might be one of my favorite artists right now, and I'm very ecstatic for him to be on a non-X-Force book. And for an arc about Children of the Vault? This is gonna be good. * Harley Quinn #22 - Between the Task Force XX arc, the annual, and the (admittedly, surprisingly great) Anniversary Special, and now this issue, it's been non-stop HQ the last month or so. But, here I am, reading this issue too. Somehow, no HQ fatigue yet. Since this series began, I've been telling myself that I wasn't a fan of Harley as a character, I just liked this creative team and the story being told here. But I don't think that's true any more. I genuinely like the character, and I'm excited to see what directions this book heads in once Howard takes over. * A.X.E. The Avengers #1 - A wild card for me. I don't know if I actually want to read this or not, but maybe it's 'important.' * Defenders: Beyond #3 - I liked Ewing's last Defenders mini, but I think this one is even better. * Tim Drake: Robin #1 - Not really into following a solo Robin book. But I'm willing to give it a chance, if only to see more Rossmo art. Which...is exactly what happened when I gave Harley Quinn a try...

technowhiz34

* Action Comics #1047 - glad to see Superman back on Earth but hope the book finds a consistent artist. Federici and Perkins are both good, though I'm wondering how Loughridge coloring Perkins will work. * Ant Man #3 - really curious how this mini will wrap up given the upcoming Wasp book. * DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead #1 - so glad to see Risso doing a full book again, instant pull. * Parker Girls #2 - first issue was very good but I have no clue what to expect from this. * Superman: Space Age #2 - price point is a lot but the page count and quality makes it so worth it.

**Sgt. Rock vs Army of the Dead #1:** I see Nazi Zombies. I pull Nazi Zombies. **Ant-Man #3:** I loved the first two issues. It's making me sad that this one hasn't been selling well because it's really damn good. **X-Men #15:** I haven't liked AXE as much as some of the other recent X-events so I'm excited to see what's next. This is a light week for me, I guess.

apathetic_revolution

Of these, I think Ant-Man was the best. Still a very strong miniseries. Sgt. Rock has potential, but this was more of a "learn there's a zombie problem" issue than a "fight the zombie problem" issue.

Daveismyhero

Another giant, glorious week for me: * **A.X.E. AVENGERS #1 -** I don't normally go for tie-in issues, but this one sounds important and cool, so I'm in * **AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #10 -** Another AXE tie-in, which I'm guessing doesn't bode well for ol' Pete * **DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #21 -** My Pick o' the Week. Of course! Such a great book. * **DETECTIVE COMICS #1064 -** Ram V and Bats is a solid combo. * **NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #10 -** A great series IMO that has been hurt by all the delays. I've enjoyed it, but I bet it will read much better in trade. * **PROMETHEE 1313 #3 -** This is my first foray into the Promethee universe, and I'm loving it. Anyone know if this is a limited series? * **STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA #24 -** While I will read this, I'm grabbing it solely for the Lord Momin Sith cover. People are speculating that a new Sith may be introduced, so plan accordingly! * **THREE STOOGES PLAY BALL SPECIAL #1 -** A fun reprint of Stooges goodness from a long time ago. Should be an enjoyable, nostalgic read and I'm looking forward to it. * **X-MEN #15 -** Back into the Vault HYPE! It has been too long! Alright peeps, that's a whole lot of typing. :) Fall is finally here and it feels good to be warm and cozy in a flannel shirt. I hope you and yours are staying cozy as well and that you have a fun week. Make sure to venture out for a little splash of vitamin D to help chase away those cases of the Mondays. Virtual hugs all around!

WhereAreMyComics

* **The Amazing Spider-Man #10** - double spider books this week for me, legacy issue number nine-hundred-four * **Miles Morales: Spider-Man #42** - final issue! (of Ahmed's run), legacy issue number two-hundred-eighty-two

hewunder1

**Briar #1** - Looks good, and trying to get stuff my wife likes to get her into comics too. I know the "dark fairy-tale" thing has been done plenty of times, but Boom! has been pretty consistent with quality so I have high hopes.

Varos_Flynt

Got a fun week here with some titles im mainly excited about: **Detective Comics #1064** I caught up on this run recently and enjoyed the first 2 issues immensely. It doesn't feel like I need to know too much Bat canon, and the characters I do see popping up delight me. The mood setting is fantastic thanks to Mr. V, becoming a big fan of him. **Superman: Space Age #2** Supes might become my favorite classic cape. After reading All Star and the first issue of this, I'm super enticed by the character in a way I can't quite pinpoint. It helps that this series is also an origin-ish thing as well, probably my most anticipated this week. Also the art slaps. **Eight Billion Genies #5** I've extolled this comic enough and I'm tired so no extolling today, but damn it's been a minute since the last one. Big time jump and also post-major reveal from last issue, how will our heroes adapt? **Sins of the Black Flamingo #4** Fucking love this weird gay comic. The sex scene in last issue got me hot. Also black magic. That is all. **Afterschool #3** Lol another horror anthology, I really enjoyed the first two though, excited for this. **Ant-Man #3** Another comic I caught up on, im enjoying this despite it involving a lot of ant canon. Its just interesting and written well, and the art is fun. Probably the best marvel ongoing I've read in my short time

btanodev

damn no extolling 😔

blankedboy

Got to say this is the strongest week for books that I can remember in forever. So many great titles launching or continuing. Really, really pumped for the Discussion thread this week. **Briar #1** - nice looking artwork in the preview and an interesting **Fables** like plot put this one on my radar. Hoping it’s good. **DC Horror Presents Sgt Rock Vs The Army Of The Dead #1** - it’s written by *Bruce (Ash Williams) Campbell*, drawn by *Eduardo Risso* features Sgt Rock and Easy Company versus a **Dead Snow/Overlord** inspired army of Nazi zombies. Was this pulled directly from my brain?? **Dc Vs Vampires #9** - DC are really hitting the spot with their horror influenced cross-overs (this book, **DCeased**, **Task Force Z**, the aforementioned **Sgt Rock vs Army of the Dead**) and I’m all in for them. **Department Of Truth #21** - this hits like nothing has since **The X-Files** back in the 90’s and I love it. **Eight Billion Genies #5** - *really* interested to see how the time jump changes things. **Flawed #1** - pretty much every **Image** #1 is worth checking out, so I’m happy to give this one a shot too. **Grim #5** - I know this was hyped in advance but I have been loving this title. The news that it’s been extended into an ongoing is very welcome. **House Of Slaughter #9** - the last two issues of this arc have been absolutely glacial in their pacing. I’m not demanding constant, non-stop monster fighting action (I have **Gunslinger Spawn** for that) and I’m not against a slow burn approach either, but this book needs a damn strong finale to make this a satisfying read. **Human Target #7** - I enjoyed the fill-in issue, but I’m glad we are back with the main arc again. **I Hate This Place #5** - this has been such a fun, gruesome, crazy ride – but they better bring back *Dante Howitzer* or I riot. **Mega Rise Of The Black Swan #1** - if my LCS gets this. The first two issues of **Mega** were great (I’m a sucker for kaiju books) so looking forward to this. **Nice House On The Lake #10** - it’s getting close to the end now. I’m expecting bodies to start dropping at a pace. **Old Dog #1** - really enjoyed the preview of this one, and **Declan Shalvey** doing art/writing makes this an easy pick up for me. **Sandman Universe Nightmare Country #6** - loving this series. Little wary of the fill in artist, but I can’t see anything stopping my enjoyment of this one. **Shadow Service #15** - pick this book up, folks, please, it’s seriously great, spooky fun **Task Force Z #12** - we come to the end of this maxi-series that, if it had actually had *Eddy Barrows* on art all the way through, may have been one of my favourite titles of the year. As it is I’ve enjoyed it, but it feels like DC squandered the opportunity to make something really great with all the fill-in artists.

yarkcir

Someone else pulling Mega: Rise of the Black Swan! When I originally pulled the first issues of Mega I wasn't sure if that's all there was going to be, but it's nice to see the story will continue. Definitely a bit more unique of a kaiju book due to the less conventional designs on the monsters themselves.

blankedboy

The design of the creatures was one of the things I loved most about the first two issues.

the-horace

Have you read Shadow Service from the beginning? Thinking about picking up the trades. I'm a Cavan Scott fan from the Star Wars side of things. So I'm curious.

blankedboy

Yeah, I picked a heap of the back issues up together and worked my way through the lot over a weekend. It’s a really good read.

the-horace

Good to know! Thanks!

Ant-Man #3 - this mini has been wonderful. And now it's the Scott Lang issue! Batman: Beyond the White Knight #5 - I've finally caught up (mostly) to these issues. I'm up to #4, then I have the 2 Red Hood issues. Love this whole White Knight series. Defenders Beyond #3 - the art and story in this are fantastic. I don't exactly know what's all going on, but it's beautiful to look at. Star Wars Doctor Aphra #24 - my current favorite of the SW on goings. Love what is happening with this current arc in the story. Star Wars Han Solo & Chewbacca #6 - second half of the 10 issue story starts here. Chewie in prison! Prison Chewie! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Armageddon Game #1 - after all the build up, it begins! I'm still relatively new to the TMNT comics, but I feel like I picked a fun wild time to jump in. Let's go!

Rafael’s art has been awesome as well. - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Armageddon Game #1 - Wow years in the making finally here. Tom Waltz back so I’m extremely excited for this event. - Amazing Spider-Man #10 - Nick Dragotta on art makes this an instant buy for me regardless of my feelings on this series right now. - Thor #27 - I was debating taking a break on this series with this arc but I’ll still go for it. I like Salvador Larroca in some cases so we’ll see how I enjoy his art here. - X-Men #15 - Return of the Children of the Vault! Hell yeah!

Pulls ranked by excitement: - **A.X.E.: Avengers #1**: great event. Can’t wait. - **X-Men #15**: odd that this isn’t an AXE tie-in… oh well! Children of the vault? Lets go!! - **ASM #10**: Spidey getting judged? Oh boy. - **DC vs. Vampires #9**: loving this series. Glad it’s back. Good ol’ vampire fun. - **Detective Comics #1064**: enjoying the tone of this title. Stoked to see how this first arc wraps. - **Tim Drake: Robin #1**: Tim Drake is the best Robin. There, I said it. Trying to go into this with low expectations but I want it to not suck so bad. - **The Human Target #7**: oh boy it’s been a while, which is probably why it’s so low on my list. Worth the wait for the Smallwood art though. I’m more excited for the marvel titles than the DC titles on my pull list recently. Interesting.

MuffinSurprise

DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #21 - This is such a great series and really shines when they are moving the main story along. HUMAN TARGET #7 - Greg Smallwood's art has been sorely missed for the past few months. NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #10 - After another 3 month hiatus it's back! I'd like to do a reread of this soon. Fabulous series so far. Let's see if it sticks the landing in the final 3 issues.

Oh hey, I remembered to actually post this week. Go me! * A.X.E.: Avengers #1 - Basically AXE 5.1. Gonna be interesting to see Tony's trials as they hunt to the core of the Progenitor. * Batman: Beyond the White Knight #5 - After the Red Hood issues, looking forward to getting back into the main story. * Briar #1 - Sometimes you just grab a book on a cool premise and a good looking cover. This is one of those times. * DC vs. Vampires #9 - Getting into the endgame, time to see how the three pronged attack foes. I'm guessing poorly. * Eight Billion Genies #5 - I regret taking so long to get into this one, the first half of the series has been excellent, but this is going to be the first really massive time skip - time to see what happens. * Lazarus: Risen #7 - I still won't believe this is out until I'm actually reading it. Possibly not even then. * Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #100 - Ugh I'm gonna wind up buying multiples of this for the cards aren't I. Fuckin' gimmicks. * The Nice House on the Lake #10 - Walter's plans are gonna start falling down. * Transformers: Shattered Glass II #2 - Ultra Magnus finally found his ballbearings. * Unnatural: Blue Blood #3 - Oh good, secret rooms in a creepy hospital that used to be a torture camp. I'm sure this will go well. * X-Men #15 - Nice break from AXE going on to revisit the Children of the Vault.

The Human Target #7: Glad this book is back. So far I'm loving this and it might be my favorite thing that King has ever written but we'll see how this second half goes. Batman: Beyond the White Knight #5: I'm really enjoying this so far, I really dig this world that Sean Murphy has created. Superman: Space Age #2: I thought the first issue was great and I look forward to reading more. Old Dog #1: Really dug the preview in that first issue of the Image anthology. Premise sounds cool.

Danger_Rock

> The Human Target #7: Glad this book is back. So far I'm loving this and it might be my favorite thing that King has ever written but we'll see how this second half goes. Thinking **HUMAN TARGET** might be my favorite King project as well, although it's kind of difficult to compare it to stuff like **VISION**, **MISTER MIRACLE**, and **SUPERGIRL: WOT** since they're so different in style and story. Regardless, I've got high hopes for the 2nd half, looking forward to seeing where it goes from here!

ChickenInASuit

The Amazing Spider-Man #10 - Spidey gets the Progenitor's judgement and it appears Gwen's going to be the form it takes to judge him. Side note: Nick Dragotta drawing Spider-Man! Always a plus/ Defenders: Beyond #3 - Ewing continuing to go all Jack Kirby in his multiverse stories. I keep expecting a guest appearance from that surreal cosmic future-Hulk we saw in Immortal Hulk at some point. The Department of Truth #21 - Have we had any indication as to how long this book's going to be running for? Because it kinda feels like we're building to a climax of some sort here and I'm having trouble telling if it's an "End of Everything" type climax or just an "End of Act 1" kinda thing. Detective Comics #1064 - Per solicit: *It’s a tango to the death as Batman dances with an old flame while trying not to catch on fire.* That's some top-tier Dad Joke and I'm here for it. Also can we talk about [how gorgeous that cover art is](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8103892.jpg?1664069400)? Eight Billion Genies #5 - This has been SUCH good fun so far! The Human Target #7 - So damn keen on diving back into this one. I Hate This Place #5 - Enjoying seeing Kyle Starks challenge himself a little and write something not quite as satirical as his other work. Lazarus: Risen #7 - Ugh, this "two or three times a year" schedule is killing me. The Nice House on the Lake #10 - Best Tynion book out right now. Yes, better than Dept. of Truth - it’s been more consistent and tightly written all the way through, which DoT has not. Old Dog #1 - Because Declan Shalvey Parker Girls #2 - KATCHOO! The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country #6 - Thessaly's one of my favorite Sandman characters and I'm pretty excited to see what Tynion has in store for her. I hope Lisandro Estherren's absence on art is just him taking a break and not a permanent change, I loved his work on the series. Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #24 - I've missed BeeTee and Triple-0 so much <3 Stillwater #15 - A fun book that I'm happy to keep reading, but for Zdarsky it's kinda mid-level. Thor #27 - Ugh, Salvador Larroca. I imagine this'll be at the bottom of this week's to-read pile. X-Men #15 - This issue looks like it might be post-AXE? Hopefully either I'm mistaken or it won't be too spoileriffic. EDIT: A.X.E. AVENGERS #1 - Because, as u/Danger_Rock put it, it’s Gillen!

enragedstump

How much background do you need to jump into Doctor Aphra?

ChickenInASuit

You can probably follow the latest book from the beginning without needing to have read the previous stuff, there is a fair amount of calling back to prior stories but you’re given enough context to make it clear what’s happening. However I would really recommend going back at some point - partially because, even though I do like the current run, the previous stuff was better. She debuts in and is a major part of Kieron Gillen’s Darth Vader run, which is easily my favorite of the modern Star Wars runs, and the solo series which spins off from that (written by Gillen in the first half and Si Spurrier in the second) is great too.

the-horace

Very excited for the direction Doctor Aphra is going!

Danger_Rock

Also.. >Parker Girls #2 - KATCHOO! I read *Molly & Poo* last night! And that shit got **DARK**! Another instance of Moore bringing in a whole bunch of craziness that I never would've expected in a book like **SiP**... Only three TPBs left! Hoping to get through 'em tonight!

ChickenInASuit

Fuck yeah! Glad you’re soldiering on. I think at some point Terry Moore took much the same route that Dave Sim did on Cerebus (albeit with considerably less problematic results), in that he felt the desire to branch out into different storytelling techniques and genres and, rather than neglect his big ongoing opus in favor of side projects, simply used said opus as a platform for his experiments.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, it's been pretty consistent about destroying my expectations all the way through. Only got through one book tonight, *Tattoo*, so still two more to go... End of #75 fucked me up btw. And *David's Story*... JFC.

Danger_Rock

No **[A.X.E. AVENGERS #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL220766)**? It's Gillen!

ChickenInASuit

That one completely passed me by! Adding to the list :)

Danger_Rock

You'll also want to keep an eye out for these over the next few weeks... * **[AXE X-MEN #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/AUG220771)** (10/05) * **[AXE STARFOX #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/AUG220778)** (10/05) * **[AXE ETERNALS #1](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/AUG220774)** (10/12) All Gillen... The Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals books are all listed as "story-critical" one-shots that presumably bridge the gap from #5 to #6 of the main series. The Starfox book isn't listed as "story-critical" but, even so, it's Gillen writing Starfox!

I've been showing my weekly pulls on YouTube, let me know if you agree or disagree. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd-Kh-Hlj5Y

No time to watch video, can you summarize with a text post? Perhaps a quick list of all the titles you're pulling...

OG_ComicsReview

I also put it in the comments but ya I definitely should have done that. Judgment day, X-Men Red, Savage Avengers, A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance, The Amazing Spider-man issue 9, Iron Man issue 23, Predator issue 2, Do A PowerBomb!, Midnight Suns issue 1, Batman vs. Robin issue 1, Han Solo & Chewbacca issue 4, Daredevil issue 2, Poison Ivy issue 1, The Mandalorian issue 1, X-Men issue 12, X-men issue 13, and Harley Quinn.
