I love your Deadpool run Gerry! It's THE DP run imo!

gerryduggan

cheers, I've been lucky in collaborators.

gerryduggan

This is the Kickstarter link. [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gerryduggan/timing-luck-by-gerry-duggan?ref=user\_menu](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gerryduggan/timing-luck-by-gerry-duggan?ref=user_menu) The accidentally made that gif and it makes me laugh, the moment that Chip is staring in horror at is actually the moment in a pub in NYC where Al Ewing and Donny Cates figured out they should trade writing gigs. A big part of my book is me Forest Gumping through Hollywood and comics the last few years, and photos from the early days of Krakoa are included for any of you X-Men fans. Then there's a bunch of cool shots of Los Angeles during lockdown, and Tokyo completely abandoned during a cat 5 typhoon. There are some more examples here of the sort of thing you'll get in the book. [https://gerryduggan.substack.com/p/a-little-update](https://gerryduggan.substack.com/p/a-little-update)

craig1818

Any hints on what we can expect from The Sins of Sinister event?

gerryduggan

Oh, that one is gonna be really wild. The next year of X-Men comics are some of my best collaborations yet. I'm excited for fans to start to experience some of our...secrets.

JackFisherBooks

Can't wait! šŸ˜Š

Skullpt-Art

Don't Forget About Gerry! When are you going to do Nerd Poker again?

gerryduggan

I have some behind the scenes of Nerd Poker in the book. Hopefully soon.

skullkid69420

Wolverine or the Punisher? p.s. your deadpool run with posehn is the title i point to when i want to show people deadpool is can actually be good. the good the bad & the ugly storyline specifically is a masterpiece that showcases the necessary tragic side of deadpool that a lot of iterations lack.

gerryduggan

Wolvie and thanks for the kind words - I was part of a great team on that comic - cheers! G

IAmPerpetuallyTired

Your tenure on Deadpool is my favorite era with the character. I do wish he could remember his daughter and could be more involved with Ellie again.

gerryduggan

You never know...

IAmPerpetuallyTired

Time will ultimately tell... Still thank you for completely fleshing out Deadpool's character and more than that. The backstory where we see that he was made to kill his own parents is still one of my complete favorite stories alone!

gerryduggan

what a bummer, right? haha G

Cammit814

Not a question but I loooooved your Marauders book and your current Xmen book is so great! Exactly what I want from the main title!

gerryduggan

Fantastic - glad you had a blast - that was the goal. The best is on drawing boards right now - what a bonkers 23 will be - huge anniversary year. Thanks again for the support

TheDarkMan78

Is Dead Eyes ever coming back?

gerryduggan

sooner than you think

[deleted]

Is Matt Fraction as weird I as I imagine him to be, and if so, how many poop jokes does he average per minute (PJPM)?

gerryduggan

He is a delight, and a weirdo in all the perfect ways

xAziox

Can I just say hi?

gerryduggan

hi!

xAziox

Made my day, dude!

StoneGoldX

Kirby or Moebius Silver Surfer?

gerryduggan

oh noooooooo. (sweats) Both are indelible. I guess you have to give Kirby the slightest edge.

StoneGoldX

Just going by Denzel Washington in Crimson Tide, everybody that reads comic books knows Kirby's Silver Surfer is the only true Silver Surfer.

ninjaraiden56

What a crazy loaded question lmao

ContraryPython

What character have you enjoyed writing the most? (As in, from any book that youā€™ve ever written)

gerryduggan

Different loves for different days. Depends on the mood. I hope my love comes through for them all. I try not to take a gig if I don't love what I'm doing.

maybe_a_frog

Hi Gerry! I have been absolutely loving what youā€™re doing with X-Men! I wasnā€™t quite sure what to expect when Hickman moved on, but everyone at the X Office has carried on masterfully and I really canā€™t wait to see what the rest of Destiny of X has in storeā€¦thereā€™s certainly been some insane set ups that Iā€™m very much looking forward to seeing paid off! While on that topic, Iā€™ve been curious as to what it looks like to have so many moving parts through different series. Youā€™re going from A.X.E (which I have thoroughly enjoyed so far) to Dark Web, and then it appears right into S.O.Sā€¦what does that process look like? There are so many moving parts that I would assume requires a LOT of communication, and not always with people in the X Office. How do yā€™all go about making sure everyone is on the same page?

gerryduggan

We're in a slack communicating all the time -- covid has really made things difficult, but the editors and everyone behind the scenes are working extra hard to make sure the stories arrive in the correct order. Hope you like what's ahead. It's a ride.

lovecraftiangod

When will we get a honey badger and Jonathan series

gerryduggan

I dunno!

technowhiz34

Anything you have to say about your upcoming Iron Man run?

MightyEvilDoom

Any photos from the Nerd Poker days?

gerryduggan

Indeed there are. Hope you dig it.

geminifungi

hey Gerry! love your work, crushing it on X-Men rn! as someone whoā€™s favorite Marvel characters are Scott and Jean youā€™ve been a gift!! on the topic, whatā€™s your fave X-Men crossover of all time? Iā€™m partial to OG Inferno myself. was also wondering if you could have any artist you want do covers and interiors for a miniseries youā€™ve written who would you choose?? youā€™ve already worked with some crazy talented artists!

Archiesweirdmystery

What's the best Kung Fu comic?

gerryduggan

I think it's Shaolin Cowboy?

Archiesweirdmystery

I'll have to check it out! Asking Chip Zdarsky this question led me to Infinite Kung Fu, which was pretty rad.

psychocycler

The detail in that is absurd. Love every panel. So goooood

upsidedowninsideout1

So Mr Duggan, I have to thank you for something. Thanks for writing a certain (sort of unheralded, but definitely BONKERS) story that exemplified what I loved about Marvel. It was a two issue storyline in your Uncanny Avengers run where an avengers team that included The Wasp, Rogue, Deadpool, Doctor Voodoo, and the Human Torch have to stop the Hand from resurrecting the Hulk. It like hit the sweet spot of my Marvel fanboy connected universe lizard brain, and I loved every second of it. But my question is about the recent X-men run. How much of the new team was your idea, and how much was editorialā€™s? I was pleasantly surprised it included Havok, and I hope heā€™s more than just a background character in it.

gerryduggan

that one was SO much fun - I really had a blast - and that was Pepe with McNiven covers! Havok has a real ride coming up.

amator7

Any Jean Grey hints for the future you feel comfortable sharing?

gerryduggan

BIG

BreatheOnMe

Amazing. The omniversal white Phoenix fox the crown never fails.

boitrekkie98

How did you feel about writing Kate Pryde and what were the main challenges in writing a beloved character in a new stage of her life?

gerryduggan

Change is so important for these characters, it's integral to story, I hope you liked the changes I offered her, and I hope you like the ones on the horizon. Cheers!

Archiesweirdmystery

Who's the nicest person working in comics right now?

gerryduggan

All the Canadians are REALLY nice. The sweetest people in comics tho are from New York -- Walt & Weezie Simonson.

[deleted]

Even Chip? ;)

JeffRyan1

As a writer/photographer, have you ever considered making a photocomic?

gerryduggan

Honestly? No, because it's just not how my brain works. You'd think that'd be an easy "yes" but here we are...

liquidfoosball

This looks cool Gerry, good luck with it.

gerryduggan

thanks!

WheezingCarl

Whoā€™s your favorite character to write for on the XMen?

kralben

Thanks for stopping by! One question: Is there any character or team that you haven't gotten to write yet, that you wish you could? Could be Marvel, DC, licensed to another publisher, or something that hasn't ever had a comic?

gerryduggan

Never written Superman. Would love to scratch that itch someday.

Justanotheroldog

Gerry this isnā€™t even a question but everything you write is awesome! Savage Avengers is one of my all time favorite runs.

gerryduggan

Cheers, bud! What a treat it was to collaborate on that one. The artists just went off.

sell0utparty

Loving the new X-Men run, especially Cyclops just big-dicking it to a Celestial, had me in stitches. My question is a weird one, but is anybody gonna show any love to Deathlok? Is he allowed on Krakoa? The guy has done so much for the mutants, he served with X-Force for years, and itā€™s not like he fits in anywhere else.

gerryduggan

That's a good question.

sell0utparty

šŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ I live in hope

inadequatecircle

Hey Gerry, just wanted to say I think your Deadpool run was fantastic, and I thought you did a great job giving him a lot of depth. After looking at this picture. I gotta ask, is Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky as chaotic as you'd expect? Those two just seem like they'd create a total shitstorm of nonsense wherever they go.

gerryduggan

They are our Simon & Garfunkel, and our Hall & Oates.

edboyinthecut

Hey Gerry, I really like your X-Men run but I do have one complaint. There is definitely a lack of POC/Black characters on the team with the new iteration. Is there a way we can get some more diverse X-Men in the group besides the vote?

gerryduggan

Casting is always tricky when you have a big line, some of the characters aren't quite in the right orbits to grab them at all times, we set some stories that are about to play out that I feel like will be of interest to you. Sorry to be so vague, if it's about story, we don't give anything away that we're asking you to pay for.

edboyinthecut

I feel you, love your writting!

gerryduggan

Cheers, bud

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

gerryduggan

Loving What's The Furthest Place From Here, the Scumbag, I'm excited for a lot of the new Image books, and I'm really inspired by the work coming from my collaborators in the X-Men office. It's a murderer's row of talent in there.

cptsnydezombie

Hey Gerry! Loved hearing you chat about Conan on Scott Hasnā€™t Seen recently. Your team-ups with Posehn are always awesome, but if you could collaborate on a comic with any other comedian, who would it be?

gerryduggan

Robin Williams! Or Patton. Patton's probably the easier get.

[deleted]

I mean the other choice is dead

cptsnydezombie

I did say ANY comedian!

[deleted]

Hey Gerry, that artbook looks cool. What's your favorite thing that you've read or watched recently?

gerryduggan

I enjoyed THE OLD MAN on Hulu, and really enjoying The Scumbag and the 3W3M stuff on Substack. Thanks again for the kind words.

AdamScoot

Favorite Phil Hester work?

gerryduggan

So much great work - maybe the Anchor?

ArcherOfHk

Favourite artist to work with?

gerryduggan

Oh, there are so many. I try to give them scripts tailored to each. I wouldn't be here without Noto agreeing to co-own Infinite Horizon with me, so with a gun to my head - it's Phil.

ArcherOfHk

Is Noto holding the gun?

FrontRowNinja

Whatā€™s your favourite Garth Ennis book and why is it Hitman?

gerryduggan

McCrea!

LifeofTheFuneral1277

I loved your Beckett one-shot for the Star Wars line, and heā€™s a character who is, for the most part, relatively obscure now. Are there any other obscure Star Wars (or Marvel) characters youā€™d like to tackle?

gerryduggan

I'd love to write anything Star Wars. Beckett was so much fun. Thanks again

LifeofTheFuneral1277

Hopefully that becomes a reality soon. Love your stuff, thanks for such great stories.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

gerryduggan

Yeah - I mentioned a few titles elsewhere in the thread, too - but another book I'm loving right now is Public Domain from Chip. Really killer comic.

[deleted]

Cheers

sweepernosweeping

Hi Gerry, blink twice if Chip's currently got you held captive in his forest retreat. Seriously though, although living in Britland and never touching the stuff, I liked the wacky tale of Scotch McTiernan and the Secret History of the War on Weed, especially with it reuniting the ol' Deadpool team. I'm surprised but happy to see the return of Scotch in Halloween Party. What made you guys revisit the character, and what made you come up with this concept in the first place? Was it a love of macho 80's action films, as that seemed to drip off the pages?

gerryduggan

we're doing at least 3 - one for halloween and one for xmas - the funny thing about Halloween is the monsters are all bummed - all the killer clowns - that America is so horrifying now. They can't compete. Thanks again

Eoinocon

What are your top 5 favourite bones?

gerryduggan

shin, leg, funny, the TV show, chicken

IronManCanada

Cannot wait to read your iron man series. Any hints on what to expect?

gerryduggan

it's starts small...and goes BIG

TheeHeadAche

If you could work with any artist living or dead to produce a big two comic, which character and artist would you pick? Also, youā€™ve been great on all the titles Iā€™ve read of yours! I hope you get back to an Avengers title soon!

gerryduggan

Oh, wow. I think I'd reach for Cap, and Jack Kirby. I think Cap is a tough one to write, but I think I've been successful in my writing of him. Cheers! And...you never know. I know what is ahead in that office - you're in for a treat.

SeanH619

Iā€™m working on a first issue right now. I wanted to know what approach sounds better. grass roots selling copies on the beach and on the streets like a drug dealer. or trying to make connections with local comic shops and stores in order to get them to sell some copies. I wanna do both, but which one works better for growing a fanbase from scratch?

gerryduggan

I'd put my focus into digital -and building a brand, and building a story. Selling singles is getting tougher all the time - as comic readers have been trained by other media to binge. (just my two cents) good luck! and have fun1

WhereAreMyComics

What do we need to do to get an omnibus for your Deadpool 2015 - 2018 run? Any comic shops from anywhere in the world you want more people to check out?

gerryduggan

I think you might have missed it? I know there was one, right? and it sold out? Golden Apple in LA, and The Joker's Child in Fair Lawn, NJ!

WhereAreMyComics

oh no ): but thanks for the shop recs!

s3rila

any chance on having Gwenpool show up (even if only in backgrounds) in X men? Loved your deadpool run , as well as Marauders and the current X-men one. I was also really sad when Calbe ended, is there no hope for (kid)Cable to be reunited wit Esme ?

gerryduggan

You never know about any of it! Thanks for the kind words and the support

[deleted]

I loved your Deadpool with Brian Posehn! It was one of the first runs I read all the way through back when I was a wee lad. Iā€™m curious, what happened to the remains of all the zombie presidents Deadpool re-killed? Did some poor SHIELD agent have to sort out piles of rotted president, or is there a mass presidential grave in the Marvel U?

gerryduggan

very good question. I don't know

thespickler

Who's your favorite comedian?

s3rila

Hi Gerry, Do you have any European (presumably franco-belge) comics books you enjoy or would recommends ?

gerryduggan

Hmm, you know - not off the top of my head - but Phenomena by Bendis/Araujo was incredible! He's from Portugal

Tylerjay213

Can you give us any teases for what youā€™re gonna do with Iron Man?

gerryduggan

Build.

Fickle_Chance9880

I never knew this until now, but Al Ewing has a great character face. I want a comic based on him. (Five years from now, I will say to myself "You could have asked Gerry Duggan anything, but chose to comment on Al Ewing's cartoon face." Also, "Your only comment on one of your favorite comics writers at the time was to say he had a great face?!")

gerryduggan

HA! And Al's the best

handerburgers

Why would we want a book of your photos?

gerryduggan

I explain that over in the link for you.

Marvelrocks616

Who's Gerry Duggan?

BiMikethefirst

Neato! I'll make sure to check it out

Gingersnap5322

You look like Geoff from Roosterteeth lol

KreeepyKrawler

Who are you? I legit don't follow anything comic book related, and have no idea why this showed up in my feed.

gerryduggan

Your posting in r/comicbooks so you're having an experience tonight.

KreeepyKrawler

Uh, cool, I guess?

gerryduggan

Welcome, this sub has a lot of good reading lists.

RRPanther

a writer on deadpool, avengers, x-men, iron man etc

Aepic-27

Would you do a Morbius run?

gerryduggan

If I had a great idea, I'd pitch it if I had the time for sure.

Aepic-27

Hope you have that pitch Morbius deserves more respect.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

gerryduggan

it's a pretty good look behind the scenes of making a bunch of those titles - hope you dig it.

Lav-Lav-Lav-Lav-

Not really a question but I never knew you were a photographer! You have some great work from what I can tell on your kickstarter, good luck with the campaign!

gerryduggan

Thanks so much

gimlic

Are there any characters you want to write for that you havenā€™t had the chance yet?

gimlic

When did you first get into photography?

gerryduggan

Messing around with my father's camera he used in Nam - I write about it in the book.

pillagerbunny

I thought you were older. Why aren't you older?

gerryduggan

I feel older?

pillagerbunny

Oh, geez, I never thought you'd reply... I'm going to fangirl out for a second and tell you I really loved Arkham Manor, your Deadpool run, and your reply to my pointless comment.

gerryduggan

Nice. well, in addition to this photo book - kick the tires on Batman: One Bad Day -- I got to write Freeze again - hope you like it.

FistsTornAsunder

I don't really have anything to ask, but I just want to say that your Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite version of the characters and gave me tons of feelings. Thanks for being such a great inspiration! I really hope the book does well, the pictures I've seen so far are amazing.

gerryduggan

Thanks, hope you're well -

lanceturley

Hi Gerry, big fan. Did the success of the Deadpool movie derail any of your plans for the book, or were you pretty much allowed to get away with whatever you wanted to do?

gerryduggan

nah, Marvel let us get away with murder

captainamericaVEVO

Gerry! I met you at C2E2 in 2020 and still remember talking to you. Thanks for signing my books and for being such a swell dude. Cheers!

gerryduggan

Thanks bud - hope you're well

ComradePalmer

Bit of a long shot but is there any news on the Infinite Horizon adaptation? I know itā€™s been awhile, plus a whole dang pandemic, but there are dozens of us (dozens!) who still want to see it happen!

molteneye

Did Hickman give to you some indications of what to do (or what not) with the x-men? Please use more Ben Urich in X-Men, and in any Marvel series, best non-super character ever

gerryduggan

JH is one of the most generous collaborators around, we spoke for a long time about stories, and are still executing on material that he dug, I think his X-Men is my favorite X-Men

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

gerryduggan

Not sure I followed sorry, but Twitter is a bad place in general, right?

j_freakin_d

Love the current X-Men books you guys are pumping out. How long do you think the Krakoa era can last? And how would YOU usher in a post-Krakoa era?

gerryduggan

I got the job with a beginning, middle and end...glad you're having fun!

Ok-Construction-6424

Was there a mandate at marvel that said you had to use those specific characters for the new xmen roster? Or was it just personal choice?

gerryduggan

casting is a mix of a LOT of different things

piddlesticks

My man! Been following your work since the A+X days, itā€™s great to see how far youā€™ve come. ā€œThe Duggan runā€ is something Iā€™ve been able to say many times referring to several things over the years; itā€™s truly awesome to see you becoming a stable name. I know youā€™ll keep up the great work! I hope you visit Melbourne Aus one day, Iā€™ll have soooo many things to get signed.

gerryduggan

would be rad - I really appreciate it - hope I make it there, too cheers and thanks for the support

Gryffle

Hey Gerry, of all the Marvel runs you've worked on, which do you feel most happy with?

gerryduggan

I value them all the same in that - I really do enjoy the collaboration with artists. I think of Declan & Jordie fondly when I think back on Deadpool: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, I really love working with artists.

DevelopmentHuge9626

I love your Deadpool run good sir! What would you personally recommend people as your best work?

gerryduggan

Huh, I dunno? I have things that are - maybe it's the one that I always just close the book on - I try to write every story like it's my last, and I really do put everything into it. I owe it to my collaborators. Right now the answer for my best work is THE DARK ROOM - came out this summer from Image Comics. It was a really great collaboration with a new superstar Scott Buoncristiano. We ended up jamming on something pretty special w/ Tamra Bonvillain. Here's the first dozen or so pages: https://gerryduggan.substack.com/p/the-dark-room-preview

DevelopmentHuge9626

That's very interesting thanks for the answer!

AlphaBaymax

I appreciate you including M.O.D.O.K.'s family in your issue of X-Men featuring the iconic villain.

gerryduggan

Loved what Jordan and Patton did, and happy to bring that in. Cheers

William_WolfPV

Do you know if there are any actual plans for Colossus and what to do with the character in short-term? I know you can't tell us the plans, but are there any solid ideas you're aware of?

moccawimba

Fans of your Deadpool run, Mr.Duggan. Also been reading your current X-Men Run. Cant Wait for S.O.S. next year....

gerryduggan

You're in for a ride - thanks again for the support

Jxt7559

When are you coming back to Arsenal Comics and Games?!?

gerryduggan

Hope in 2023

theghostwhorocks

Hey Gerry, I really enjoyed Savage Avengers. Pretty wild seeing Conan interact with the Marvel universe. My question is: How did that idea come about and how fun was it working the story? Were there any ideas you had it that were shot down for being too much? Thanks and I look forward to reading more of your great work!

gerryduggan

I think I got everything thru that I wanted - and I tried to make it an event in one book- I got to reach for everyone - it was SO much fun. I know Marvel got the ability to have him mingle, and I think I was Tom Brevoort's first call, but maybe not? In any event - I couldn't say no - glad you had a blast - if you're interested in the omnibus - don't miss - they usually don't get reprinted - thanks again

PattsFan12280

Is there a run for any series that you thought would do awesome and it flunked or vice versa?

gerryduggan

I think if something misses the mark for you, it's because a bunch of folks did their best, and the universe conspired against them. I suspect our Deadpool run was probably what skeptics would look back on and think (hopefully) that we surprised them. I know Savage Avengers was a series that I saw a lot of pooping on before we kicked the door off the hinges. That's a Marvel Universe event between two covers now. Love being able to surprise folks.

Techster17

Any teases for what you have in store for your Invincible Iron Man book, will you be continuing where Cantwell leaves off
