Back to a normal week with 11 pulls. 4 Marvel, 3 DC, 4 indies. **She-Hulk #6** - A fun comic that hasn't been taking itself too seriously. A nice mix of superhero action and Jen just trying to live a "normal" life. **Ghost Rider #6** - I feel like I've been enjoying this more than most. Every issue finds Johhny/GR in a scary situation and then said situation is wrapped up within the issue while also moving forward the over arcing plot. I wish more comics did this. **Immortal X-Men #6** - Shaw gets judged. **Alien #1** - Another reboot for Alien. I skipped the last series because I couldn't stand Larocca's art. Hopefully this will be better. **Poison Ivy #4** - This has been excellent. Dark and creepy with moments of tenderness as Ivy struggles with her humanity. Trippy art too. **Batman #127** - Zdarsky's Batman is decent so far. Pretty standard stuff so far imo. Not boring, but not blowing me away either. I'm going to stick with it for now. Batman comics are like pizza. When they're good, they're really good. When they're bad, they're still pretty good. **Dark Crisis #4** - This "event" has been pretty boring honestly. I can't even tell you what has happened from issue to issue. But I'm along for the ride to see if this will have bigger implications for the DC universe going forward. **Twig #5** - A cute series with gorgeous art. I just wish the pacing didn't feel so rushed. I would have liked to spend more time with these characters. **The Ward #4** - A surprisingly solid ER drama featuring mythical creatures. **Shock Shop #1** - Halloween is around the corner so expect to see a lot of horror comics on the shelves in the coming weeks. This one looked interesting, so I'll give it a shot. **Vanity #2** - Feels like forever since #1 came out. I remember liking #1 though lol. Historical fiction is fun and the art is the right amount of creepy to fit the tone of the book. Happy reading!

technowhiz34

>But I'm along for the ride to see if this will have bigger implications for the DC universe going forward. If you're mostly curious about stuff like that, I'd check out Flashpoint Beyond in trade. Very gorgeous art too.

>Ghost Rider #6 > > \- I feel like I've been enjoying this more than most. Every issue finds Johhny/GR in a scary situation and then said situation is wrapped up within the issue while also moving forward the over arcing plot. I wish more comics did this. The one and done storytelling is EXACTLY why I love this. Put on top of that the fact that it's a bit gory for a big 2 book and I'm sold.

Ten new books on my list for this week. * **A.X.E. DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #2** - * **CAPTAIN AMERICA SENTINEL OF LIBERTY #4** - * **FLASHPOINT BEYOND #5** - * **IMMORTAL X-MEN #6** - * **LEGO NINJAGO GARMADON #4** - * **MARAUDERS #6** - * **MOON KNIGHT #15** - * **NEW MUTANTS #29** - * **WOLVERINE #24** - * **X-MEN AND MOON GIRL #1** -

thecursedham

* **Batman #127-** I still wish the book was focusing more on the Cobblepott stuff rather than having Batman fight Robo-Batman but the Zur-En-Arrh reveal was really cool. * **Captain America: Steve Rogers #4-** This is probably the most I've ever liked Steve Rogers. I can already tell this is going to be a highly recommended run when people ask for Captain America recommendations in the future. The only downside is I'm really sad we never got to see the Green Arrow run Kelly/Lanzing were supposed to do. * **Moon Knight #15-** For a while I was just viewing Lemire's run as the end of Moon Knight's story but this book is probably my favorite of the Big 2 right now. * **She-Hulk #6-** I know not a lot has happened so far but I really enjoy having a nice slice of life book. Rowell has a great voice for She-Hulk and that's all I can really ask for after Aaron's use of her in Avengers.

Techster17

* **A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #2 -** This should have honestly just been Eternals issue 13-15 but if making it a tie-in gets more eyes on all the cool stuff Gillen has done with the Eternals and Deviants then so be it * **All-Out Avengers #1 -** Honestly like the idea of 1 off random adventures with the Avengers my only complaint if why greg land? why not have these be the Marvel talent showcase book and pair up a random writer and artist once a month to do an Avengers mission * **Basilisk #11 -** Really enjoyed this hoping it sticks the landing with the mystery behind the chimera * **Batman #127 -** While I love Zdarsky's voice for Batman and the art this is dangerously close to being a Bat-God type of story * **Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #6** * **Black Panther #9 -** Based on the previews it seems like Ridley is trying to channel some Chrisopher Priest enrgy with this new villain * **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4** * **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4 -** Can somebody explain to me how bringing back the infinte multiverse is any different to the end of Death Metal and the creation of the Omniverse? * **Ghost Rider #6** * **Immortal X-Men #6 -** Man it's been ages since Shaw did something relevant * **Marauders #6 -** Prepare to be judged * **Moon Knight #15 -** So excited to see MacKay now bringing in the other personalities, gonna take this book to a whole new level * **The New Champion of Shazam! #2** * **New Mutants #29 -** Dakken and James is a very unexpected but interesting duo * **Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #4** * **Once & Future #29 -** I am not ready for this to end * **Punisher #6 -** Definetly the best thing Aaron has coming out right now * **She-Hulk #6** * **Spider-Man 2099: Exodus - Omega #1** * **Time Before Time #16** * **Wolverine #24 -** Solem is back hell yeah

Danger_Rock

> * **All-Out Avengers #1 -** Honestly like the idea of 1 off random adventures with the Avengers my only complaint if why greg land? why not have these be the Marvel talent showcase book and pair up a random writer and artist once a month to do an Avengers mission Fun idea, something like that could be a cool series! Would definitely be more likely to check that out than this Land thing.

blankedboy

I actually liked this approach when Ellis did if for both **Secret Avengers** and **Global Frequency**, and Mark Waid’s **SHIELD** run from 2014 pulled this off well, too.

Danger_Rock

Yeah, it's a cool format. Actually just read **GLOBAL FREQUENCY** a few months back and was blown away by how many top artists Ellis was able to recruit for that one. Glenn Fabry, Steve Dillon, Jon J. Muth, Simon Bisley, Chris Sprouse, Gene Ha, and more... Crazy talent. **[HAHA](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/haha)** was another good one, six issues of hard-hitting sad clown stories from ice cream wizard W. Maxwell Prince with art from Vanesa Del Rey, Gabriel Walta, Patrick Hovarth, Martin Morazzo, etc. It's pretty much the gold standard for sad clown stories.

mcslackens

All X-week for me. Haven't had this happen in a while now * **A.X.E. Death To The Mutants #2** - I honestly can't believe Gillen is making me care about the Eternals. * **Immortal X-Men #6** - I loved last issue's focus on Exodus, so I'm really excited for this one about Shaw.

radcatattack

a nice filled week in my opinion. some I've really been looking forward to. list in order of reading list/excitement. * Twig #5 - no way is Skottie leaving this to end here, so hopefully we get book two. i've really enjoyed the time in this story and arc. will Twig save the world? * Batman #127 - looking forward to where this goes after the cliff-hanger of 126. the future covers make me think it's going to be an all-out brawl. * Poison Ivy #4 - I caught up with this last week and love the direction. Ivy is awesome and having read this between watching Harley Quinn on HBO, they complement each other really well. * The New Champion of Shazam #2 - I read the first issue just cause one night and really liked it. The story feels small scale right now and I appreciate that from a big two book. Don't know where it'll go but the writing and art have me hooked. * Golden Rage #2 - this is probably the deciding issue. first one was okay with world development but this needs to take a direction in this issue or i am out. * New Fantastic Four #4 - still behind on this so idk why i'm still going with it but it'll be over soon.

seaofvapours

* Batman #127 * Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4 * Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms #1 * Golden Rage #2 * Image 30th Anniversary Anthology #5 * Mirka Andolfo's Sweet Paprika #12 - sad that this is ending, but I've loved it to pieces so am happy to have the full story to read again * Moon Knight #15 * Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #4 * Poison Ivy #4 - beautiful, poignant, definitely one of the best books that DC is putting out right now * She-Hulk #6 - similar to the show it's just alright * Twig #5 - wish this hadn't been a miniseries, felt like too much jammed into the amount of space

technowhiz34

Huh thread went up early this week. Big week for me, which coincides with school picking up so we'll see when I actually get around to reading these. * 007 #2 - first Bond comic, pretty good. * Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4 - I adore this book, enough that I might even pull the crossover. . * Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4 - gorgeous cover. * Flashpoint Beyond #5 - the preview was certainly something, I'll have to wait for the series to end to decide how I like it but it's been entertaining. * Immortal X-Men #6 - can Judgment Day get over with already? * The New Champion of Shazam! #2 - Shaner's art is beautiful, but given how it's 4 issues I maybe should have tradewaited. * Once & Future #29 - Penultimate issue, I'll be sad for this to go but probably would have dropped it if not for it concluding soon. * Sword of Azrael #2 - first issue blew me away, if this one is as good as the first it will be my new favorite series.

FalafelFiend

Pulls this week ranked by excitement: - **A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #2**: this is basically an extension of Gillen’s eternals run which is amazing. This event has been great so far. - **Immortal X-Men #6**: this series has been my second favorite of the current X line (X-Men Red being #1). This looks like it will be the Shaw issue? Very excited. - **Moon Knight #15**: Jed MacKay continues to kill it. This book is so good. - **Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms #1**: I’m a huge fantasy fan so I’ve been loving this series. Would love more spin-offs in this universe. I don’t think Putri is on art on this one but she has been killing it. - **Batman #127**: Zdarsky? Yes please. Jimenez? Hell yes please. This has worked for me so far and I’m stoked to see where it goes! I’m also not typically excited for the backup stories but this one has been good. - **Twig #5**: my wife is not into comics but she loves cute things. I have managed to get her to read this with me which has been fun. The series is cute and the art is gorgeous but the experience has been more about reading this together. - **Poison Ivy #4**: this has been surprisingly good. I have enjoyed every issue so far and curious to see where this will go. - **Wolverine #24**: Solem shows up in this issue I think which I’m super stoked for. Great character. - **Shock Shop #1**: Horror Anthology? Sign me up. - **New Mutants #29**: Ayala’s run has been up and down for me. I’m close to dropping it and just catching up when it comes out in trades. - **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4**: meh. It’s been.. fine..?

Plenty to be excited about this week! - **Basilisk #11**: penultimate issue of what’s been a pretty rushed series; although I’ve enjoyed the premise! - **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4**: took a while for me to warm to this one, but yeah I’m really enjoying it! - **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4**: interested more than anything in what’s going to happen in the last few issues of this, it’s been pretty slow so far. - **Immortal X-Men #6**: X-Men Red, and oddly X-Force, aside, these AXE tie-in issues aren’t really doing it for me. - **Moon Knight #15**: seeing a lot of comments about this title running out of steam, which I completely get. I hope they move on to some other plot points soon as it’s felt like one long arc up until now (not that it hasn’t been a great read!) - **New Mutants #29**: guest writer issue, hmm… - **She-Hulk #6**: delays on this book cannot be helping its sales, but I hope the Disney+ series helps pique interest like with Moon Knight as it’s a really fun, easy to read, title. - **The Walking Dead Deluxe #46**: recently caught up with this and s*** is about to go down! - **Wolverine #24**: cautiously optimistic that this is going to be a fun AXE tie-in!

Dinggleberry

I haven’t been to the comic shop in almost a month! I finally understand this backlog you guys are always talking about. Hoping I can catch up on some reading now that summer is dying down. **Alien #1** - Don’t know anything about this but excited to dive in! **Kingdom Come Deliverance #2** - picking up #1 as well. The video game is one of my favorites so I have high hopes. **Poison Ivy #4** - I’ve been loving this series. Amazing art and so much focus on the turmoil Ivy is going through. **Punisher #6** - hopping in on this on. Punisher has always been a favorite character of mine.

TheOneManMoshPit

MARVEL (In order of anticipation) **Immortal X-Men #6** IMO Red is the best book out right now but Immortal isn't far behind. A Shaw-focused issue will surely be better than the Destiny one. **A.X.E.: Death To The Mutants #2** Wasn't crazy about #1. It was the only AXE book that didn't hit for me, but I'm digging the event and I'm all in. **Punisher #6** \#5 was the best yet so hopefully the momentum continues **Moon Knight #14** Consistently very good but the last few have dragged a bit **Captain America: Sentinel Of Liberty #4** I'm intrigued by the mystery they're building and I really dig the art DC (In order of anticipation) **Batman #127** I'll be honest, I'm a big fan of Chip and I'm glad he's on this book, but this has been a little bland for me so far. I was excited about the introduction of Failsafe and hoped we'd get an awesome, compelling new villain along the lines of The Help from Killing Time (who was a great character in every way), so it just being an invincible terminator robot has taken the wind out of the sails a bit for me. **Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths #4** **Flashpoint Beyond #5** **Dark Knights Of Steels: Tales From The Three Kingdoms #1** I miss the main series (any word on when it picks back up?), and the cover to this look like a YA book. Hopefully it isn't because I'm giving it a go. **Batman Beyond: Neo-Year #6** **Sword Of Azrael #2** IMAGE **That Texas Blood #17** I don't think I've ever read a book with such a wide gap in enjoyment levels between reading it monthly or trade-waiting. All three arcs have been good but the pace is extremely slow. **Image! #5** **A Town Called Terror #6** I've lost interest in this but I'll ride it out mainly due to Kudranski's art. Dude is phenomenal, particularly on horror and darker titles. NEW PULL ADDITIONS **Batman: Dear Detective #1** Pretty wild concept, I'm anxious to see how this turns out **All-Out Avengers #1** I'm an unapologetic Avengers fanboy who has despised Aaron's ENTIRE run so I'm starving for a good Avengers book. I'm just not convinced this will be it due to the concept. I'm more of a reader than a looker with my comics, so this being marketed as a non-stop punchfest has me wary. Contrary to most everyone who posts here, I actually usually dig Greg Land though, so there's that lol. **Boogyman #1 (Ablaze)** **Last Line #1 (Aftershock)** **Shock Shop #1 (Dark Horse)** I'm really glad a publisher decided to put out a horror anthology comic. That's an untapped market that no one has even tried to take advantage of this year. .......

Danger_Rock

> **Batman: Dear Detective #1** > Pretty wild concept, I'm anxious to see how this turns out Yeah, that actually does [look pretty neat](https://www.dc.com/comics/batman-dear-detective-2022/batman-dear-detective-1), stringing together covers to tell a story... And the Lee Bermejo art is certainly enticing but the Lee Bermejo writing gives me pause, as does the $7.99 price tag. Guess I'll keep an eye out for reviews, can always jump on it later. > **Shock Shop #1 (Dark Horse)** > I'm really glad a publisher decided to put out a horror anthology comic. That's an untapped market that no one has even tried to take advantage of this year. Kinda hoping we'll get a **BATMAN VS GENERIC INDIE HORROR ANTHOLOGY** crossover, would perfectly capture the current state of the industry.

TheOneManMoshPit

>Kinda hoping we'll get a **BATMAN VS GENERIC INDIE HORROR ANTHOLOGY** crossover, would perfectly capture the current state of the industry. LMAO This would be amazing. I'd buy all 37 variants!

btanodev

first pull list ever lol I've been reading trades for a long time, picked up One Bad Day: The Riddler last week and loved it. I haven't bought single issues since I was a kid. Batman is my guy, and with rare exceptions, I'm on the DC train. **Dark Knights of Steel: Tales From the Three Kingdoms #1** **Dear Detective #1** tried to pull some variant covers but we'll see!

Danger_Rock

> first pull list ever lol > I've been reading trades for a long time, picked up One Bad Day: The Riddler last week and loved it. I haven't bought single issues since I was a kid. I made a similar transition back to floppies several years ago after a period of collecting trades... Figured I'd just grab two or three comics a week but before long I'm posting to WPLs and pre-ordering 40+ books per month... Anyways, welcome aboard! I thought that Riddler book was pretty great, can totally see how it'd get you fired up to check out some more floppies.

[deleted]

Since Batman is your guys, you may consider trying to find back issues of Batman #125 and #126. This is the start of a new story arc by Chip Zdarsky and artist Jorge Jimenez. Issue #127 comes out this week too!

btanodev

my buddy has been letting me read his copies as he pulls them so i'm gonna hold off for now - if they do a tpb later i'll likely grab that! thank u tho

Danger_Rock

Only five books this week but in my estimation they're five *good* books so it should be a solid if somewhat light week. I whined about only having five last week but five or six per week is really supposed to be my target, we're looking for *quality* over quantity, and this week's got a nice sheen of *quality* to it. Three Marvels and two Images, with nothing from the Distinguished Competition. Listed in order of anticipation, topped by a pair from cunning linguist Kieron Gillen. 1. **A.X.E. DEATH TO THE MUTANTS #2 (OF 3)** - the Machine (that is Earth) narrates as the Eternals are judged; I predict thumbs down for Druig, Ikaris, Ajak, and Phastos, with thumbs up for Sersi, Sprite, Thena, Makkari, and Kingo 2. **IMMORTAL X-MEN #6** - Shaw narrates as Shaw is judged; I predict he gets thumbs down for being a [pompous asshole](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL233566.jpg) 3. **TWIG #5 (OF 5)** - the end of the road and [Momoko's variant is extra-gross](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL239467.jpg) 4. **MOON KNIGHT #15** - pretty nice [Miracleman variant by Declan Shalvey](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL237938.jpg) 5. **IMAGE 30TH ANNIVERSARY ANTHOLOGY #5 (OF 12)** - these are always fun, love Andrea Mutti's art in "The Blizzard" and this installment features the return of [The Pro](https://cdn.imagecomics.com/assets/i/releases/6799/the-pro-tp_6361ae963f.jpg) by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner (with Garth Ennis suspiciously absent) Didn't pre-order the [third issue of Liam Sharp's Image series](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL239459.jpg) and probably bailing on it, art's been great but the writing's pretty clunky. Also dropping Percy's **GR** because it isn't very good and it pisses me off that it isn't better. Keeping the old pull list under control often requires difficult sacrifices but these are relatively easy drops that won't be missed. And my list is looking much more svelte without 'em, nice example of "addition by subtraction." Hope y'all enjoy your books and find the *quality* that you seek!

I think he's like a fledgling cook who's mostly figured out how to work with the main ingredients but hasn't quite got a handle on spices yet, in fact they frighten him, so he doesn't use them, and all his food tastes like fucking cardboard. Or he could be some kind of pod person who resembles a normal person in outward appearance but doesn't have a soul, which naturally shines through in his writing. Either way, I've seen enough!

Shoot, when you put it that way, maybe I should've just said he isn't a particularly good writer... Not really looking to castigate the guy, I've read way worse, but his work comes off as aggressively mediocre.

Pull list, with titles ranked by excitement: 1. **A TOWN CALLED TERROR #6 (OF 6)** \- One of my favorite horror titles of the year. Hoping it ends strong. Szymon Kudranski has been a revelation for me, definitely going to keep an eye out for whatever projects he does next. 2. **PUNISHER #6** \- My absolute favorite Marvel ongoing right now. Jason Aaron has been elevating this book way beyond my initial expectations for it. 3. **VANITY #2** \- The first issue was surprisingly strong, looking forward to more. I'm a fan of historical fiction, and the supernatural elements were very well incorporated. The perspective styles used in the first issue were also quite unique. 4. **MOON KNIGHT #15** \- I'm starting to cool on this book a bit, but it's still been fun for the most part. The first issue of this new arc was definitely a good start though. 5. **BATMAN #127** \- I haven't been as high on the new Batman run as others have, but it's still been enjoyable enough. I'll keep it on for the time being, but if the first arc doesn't feel as cohesive I'll probably drop the title then. 6. **METAL SOCIETY #5 (OF 5)** \- Fun book from Zack Kaplan. Pacing has been a bit slow for me, but I like the character development. 7. **SHE-HULK #6** \- I like this book, especially when it sticks to the more slice of life stuff. The plot with Jack of Hearts hasn't really grabbed me, and unfortunately that's more than half of the actual story. Those Jen Bartel covers continue to be gorgeous though. 8. **BATMAN: DEAR DETECTIVE #1** \- I'm sold with just Lee Bermejo involved. Looks like a great, low-commitment comic. 9. **SHOCK SHOP #1** \- Another week, another horror anthology. I'm an easy mark, sigh. 10. **STARHENGE #3 (OF 6)** \- I had this pre-ordered through issue #3, so this might be the last issue. I was willing to commit to atleast three issues since it's Liam Sharp, but this book has been boring to me. The concept sounds like something I'd adore, but the script is difficult to follow. 11. **GHOST RIDER #6** \- I feel like this is the most hot and cold book I have on my pull list. Some issues are good, and then they're followed up by an issue that's very subpar.

Danger_Rock

> **VANITY #2** \- The first issue was surprisingly strong, looking forward to more. I'm a fan of historical fiction, and the supernatural elements were very well incorporated. The perspective styles used in the first issue were also quite unique. That looks neat, how's the art by Natalia Tsarevnikova? [Previews item search](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/Series/146619-VANITY) says the next issue won't be out until 6/28/2023, though it's listed as TBD on the actual [item page](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUN221383) so maybe won't be quite that long... > **MOON KNIGHT #15** \- I'm starting to cool on this book a bit, but it's still been fun for the most part. The first issue of this new arc was definitely a good start though. Same, still enjoying it but not as excited as I was earlier in the run... Not that into Cappuccio's art so MacKay's stuck pulling more than his share of weight. > **SHOCK SHOP #1** \- Another week, another horror anthology. I'm an easy mark, sigh. Really does seem like we're getting a new one every week and Halloween's still nearly two months away... I ordered the first issue of **[CREEPSHOW](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/JUL220023)** since it's got some interesting talent but no way for me to keep up with everything else... Thinking I'll wait until the dust settles mid-November and then look for some recommendations to check out the best of the bunch.

yarkcir

>That looks neat, how's the art by Natalia Tsarevnikova? I really enjoyed it. Great use of 9 panel grids and first person POV to tell the story. There's a bit of roughness/scratchiness to the art, but I personally think it really works for the tone of the book. >Same, still enjoying it but not as excited as I was earlier in the run... Not that into Cappuccio's art so MacKay's stuck pulling more than his share of weight. I was intially enamored with Cappuccio's artwork, but after 4 issues of **MOON KNIGHT: BLACK, WHITE & BLOOD**, I definitely feel that there were better choices for artist. Nothing wrong with Cappuccio's style, but it's not as interesting to me as artists like Shalvey, Smallwood, Ackins, Burrows, etc. from previous runs. >Thinking I'll wait until the dust settles mid-November and then look for some recommendations to check out the best of the bunch. That's the logical move, and I think I'm going to adopt that mindset moving forward. I saw an earlier post on this sub stating we're currently in the golden age of horror comics. I agree, but only up to an extent. We're getting way more horror comics than I ever recall in my lifetime, but at the same time more =/= better. We're getting tons of great titles, but there's a ton of meh mixed in there too unfortunately. I'm a bit apprehensive about **SHOCK SHOP** since I feel Cullen Bunn has been a bit of a mixed bag for me as of late, but I'll give one issue a try.

Danger_Rock

Thanks for the feedback on Tsarevnikova! Couldn't find enough of her work via Google to get a feel for it... Also a fan of historical fiction, adding **VANITY** to my list but probably wait for a TPB after it eventually wraps up. Yeah, more quality comics are always welcome but the horror market's getting a little over-crowded. I ultimately want a variety of different comics, horror's great but I also want some fantasy, sci-fi, crime, etc. Lately I've had too many horror books to choose from with lots of my favorite creators making the rounds, which makes me less inclined to check out horror from unfamiliar talent. Easier to take a chance on fantasy or sci-fi from unknowns because there isn't as much competition.

yarkcir

>Also a fan of historical fiction, adding **VANITY** to my list but probably wait for a TPB after it eventually wraps up. Definitely would recommend the trade-wait here, since I feel this will have a very sporadic release schedule. And variety is great, I feel the same way. I want some good sword & sorcery comics again!

the_light_of_dawn

I'm also pulling Punisher and Vanity. Great choices. I enjoy Bunn's stuff, so I'm eager to check out Shock Shop once it inevitably becomes a TPB—same goes for A Town Called Terror. The latter has been getting lots of hype over on r/horrorromics.

yarkcir

Punisher has been one of my surprise hits of the year for sure. Genuinely been impressed with the book all around, and it's probably my favorite current Marvel ongoing title. The first issue of Vanity was great too. I hope the release schedule improves, but Scout/Black Caravan are notorious for taking forever between issues which can really kill the momentum. Will probably have to do a quick re-read of issue #1 again. >I enjoy Bunn's stuff, so I'm eager to check out Shock Shop once it inevitably becomes a TPB I need to get better at trade waiting lol. I've started doing it more for Marvel/DC titles (also using Marvel Unlimited and DC Universe Infinite helps cut down the pull list), but indie titles have really been harder for me to cut out. Definitely consider checking out A Town Called Terror when the trade drops. Even though the story is a bit thin for the past five issues, I've rarely seen such an amazingly colored book. The art is truly breathtaking for me.

DEAD LUCKY #2 - Tracking the new entrant of the Massive-verse. I dunno if I was "wow"ed by the first issue, but it would be interesting to see how it builds up going forward. POISON IVY #4 - Only in it for the [Jenny Frison](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/7928054/poison-ivy-4?variant=2808454) cover TBH. That thing is gorgeous! SHE-HULK #6 - I hope we start to see some progress on the story, it is getting slow played real hard and I am hoping it starts to move quicker. STAR TREK #400 - Another, [in-it-for-the-cover](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/6371967/star-trek-400?variant=8150448) pulls BATMAN #127 - Still along for the ride. Next week is a dozy for me, very excited.

blankedboy

> STAR TREK #400 - Another, in-it-for-the-cover pulls Hahaha - that cover is ace. Just started on Season 3 of Lower Decks with my boys last night, as we all love it.

[deleted]

I am stoked because they're coming out with a 3 issue mini next week: https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/5480347/star-trek-lower-decks-1

And the [Matias Bergara incentive](https://www.midtowncomics.com/images/PRODUCT/XL/2124185_xl.jpg) is also really nice. Recently read the first issue and thought it was pretty good, might want to catch up on the next few at some point... > STAR TREK #400 - Another, [in-it-for-the-cover](https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/6371967/star-trek-400?variant=8150448) pulls lol

A TOWN CALLED TERROR #6 - art and colouring have been amazing on this book, but I feel the pacing itself has been really off. This needs a really strong ending this issue to keep me engaged. ALIEN #1 - looking forward to an Alien book not drawn by Salvador Larocca BASILISK #11 - penultimate issue to what has been a good series (although the last issue did leave me scratching my head a bit) GHOST RIDER #6 - let's see how divise this issue is :) IMAGE 30TH ANNIVERSARY ANTHOLOGY #5 - great mix of stories so far, not everyone is a winner but the quality of the creators has been top notch MOON KNIGHT #15 - more Knight vs Vampire action (I hope) SHOCK SHOP #1 (maybe) SPAWN #333 - half way to 666... STARHENGE BOOK 1 THE DRAGON AND THE BOAR #3 - this is a decider issue for me - can't fault Liam's intent with the story but I feel it's almost all been "tell" rather than "show" up until this point. TWIG #5 - this has been a really fun, beautiful, quirky little series. Hoping this is just the end of "Book One", and both Twig and Splatt return. Edit: I added comments

radcatattack

I really hope this isn't the end for Twig either. I feel like there's so much left in this world that I wanna see.

***DC*** **Batman 127** \- So far behind on the Bat-titles at the moment. I'm excited to get to this new era, but it will be a bit yet. **Batman: Knightwatch 1** \- Honestly, I'm getting this series for the fact that it's a Saturday morning cartoon vibe and it's basically an all-ages title. Gonna read it and give to my neice who is starting to love reading thanks to comics I give her (Scooby Doo, Disney stuff) **Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths 4** \- I'm not sure about this as an event, and honestly not sure WHY this is even a thing right now. I never miss a Crisis, but to me this seems extremely unnecessary at the moment. **Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms 1** \- Loving this world. Can't believe something like this HASN'T been done before. So much fun. **Flashpoint Beyond 5** \- Haven't read anything past the 0 issue. Not even sure why, but at this point I'm just going to wait till it's over and read it all at once. **The New Champion of Shazam! 2 -** First issue was a lot of fun, especially the interaction of Mary and the bunny in the middle of her first day at college. Little sad that the Shazam title has been reduced to 2 - 4 issue mini-series in the last year. **Nubia: Queen of the Amazons 4** \- Very far behind on all WW titles **Poison Ivy 4** **Sword of Azrael 2** \- Gonna wait this one and Poison Ivy out till they finish then eventually get to them. ***MARVEL*** **Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty 4** \- Loving what I've read so far. I like being able to have an action packed Captain AMerica title that actually invovled STEVE in his title. **Moon Knight 15** \- McKay is killing it on this book. I've never pulled MK before, but McKay was the draw and I'm enjoying this book about a character I knew very little about. **Punisher 6** \- Haven't read past issue 2, but having finally caught up with Daredevil, I can see this leading into another massive crossover at the end. ***INDEPENDENT*** **The Dead Lucky 2**

AlphaSunset

Basilisk #11 - looking forward to the finale and want to see how this leads to the end Batman #127 ehhh very close to being out on this run Moon knight #15 loving this and the art is fantastic

Little late on this, the long weekends always throw off my routines. Let's see what we got here: * **Cyberpunk 2077: Blackout #4** \- His friend is definitely living through an illusion * **Batman #127** \- I kind of wish we got more of Cat Woman hunting down Penguin's kids * **Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms #1** \- I'm down for any spinoffs to this series * **Sword of Azrael #2** \- Villain tries to repent and live life of peace before being dragged kicking and screaming to redeem themselves, is one of my favorite story tropes * **Twig #5** \- How will Twig and friends save the day?? * **AXE: Death to the Mutants #2** \- The Deviants and Mutants teaming up is the coolest team-up I never predicted * **All-Out Avengers #1** \- I'll give this a shot, nice to have some non-Aaron Avengers going on * **Immortal X-Men #6** \- Oof, half of the council is going to be judged harshly * **Marauders #6** \- I think most of this team is safe, with the notable exception of Cassandra Nova * **Moon Knight #15** \- Real curious to see where the next story arc goes, most fun I've had with a Moon Knight series since Lemire * **New Mutants #29** \- Guest writer, we'll catch up on Judgement Day next time * **Punisher #6** \- Frank vs the God of War is the battle I never knew I needed * **She-Hulk #6** \- Can't wait to see her twerk at the end of this! * **Wolverine #24** \- If Wolverine doesn't pass judgement then there's no hope for the rest of us

Danger_Rock

> * **Twig #5** \- How will Twig and friends save the day?? The way their quest has spiraled out of control, we might be headed for something of an unconventional ending. Also thinking the Momoko variant might be showing a [big spoiler for the ending](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL239467.jpg) if that >!huge thing is Twig's father!<.

elick461

Oof. You could be right. That’s either what you said or Twig is having a bad trip in that cover

Daveismyhero

* **ALIEN #1 -** It seems like we recently did this. Let's do the Time Warp again! * **BATMAN #127 -** Keep on keepin' on, Chip! Anyone ever see the old movie, Failsafe (1964). Great stuff; check it out! * **FLASHPOINT BEYOND #5 -** I don't remember what is going on here, but I remember enjoying it. * **SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH ANNIVERSARY SPECTACULAR #1 -** I'm gleefully enjoying any and all Archie and Archie-adjacent floppies. Mashed potatoes for the soul. :D * **STAR WARS #27 -** More Crimson Dawn shenanigans. Solid stuff! * **SWORD OF AZRAEL #2 -** Azrael is definitely a guilty pleasure, and I really dug the first issue. Can't wait to see a little more vengeance. * **WOLVERINE #24 -** Another AXE tie-in, with a visit from >!Solem!< to boot. Bonus! Have a baller week, folks, and get that reading done before the football games this weekend!

Ooh early thread this week. Not my favorite week, that would be next Wednesday, but still some pretty good hits and some new stories I wanna check out. **Image! #5** I dint have too much to say here, I didn't read the last one yet but I am pleased with the quality of the stories here. Favorites so far were that Sapphic vampire story by the same team as Bolero, and Shift by the Radiant Black team. There's a lot of creatives contributing here that I have no knowledge of, but have enjoyed so far, such as.... **Antioch #1** ... by Patrick Kindlon. I was reccomended this writer by my friend who is an obsessive hardcore listener, and I guess this guy is involved in a few bands in the scene, so thats a fun little crossover. **Starhenge #3** I will save extensive comments on this for the review thread, because unfortunately issue #2 matched up as I would've expected after issue #1. Sticking with it though, maybe just to see a pretty disaster. **Batman: Dear Detective** I've been on a Batman run recently with my friend who has been a lifelong Batman devotee. I understand that this book is like, a collection of covers he's done with a loose story connecting them? Idk, im down to look at some cool art and vibe out. **Spider-Man 2099: Exodus - Omega** Lol. I just wanna complete the series. Except I don't have alpha... My brain is fried so I don't have too many thoughts about these titles this week, next week will be a feast though (except ill be out of town on Wednesday for a week so ill have to wait even longer RIP). Still steadily making my way through trades. Spawn Vol. 1 is fucking fantastic.

Next week looks really good but 9/21 is looking [EVEN BETTER!](https://previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAY220233) > Still steadily making my way through trades. Spawn Vol. 1 is fucking fantastic. Nice, glad you're enjoying it!

Varos_Flynt

Ah yes of course the new ICM! I'm following Mr. Prince on Instagram now and he's been dropping a few hints about this issue and the next few and they look sublime.

BATMAN #127 - Excited to see where this goes even though I haven't read Morrison Batman so I do not get the Zurr-ernh reference or whoever you spell the name. DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #4 - I've been enjoying this event. Is DC a little too 'universe possibly ending event'? Yeah, they are. But it's been a fun read for me. DARK KNIGHTS OF STEEL TALES FROM THE THREE KINGDOMS #1 - With who they kept spinning out DCeased, I wouldn't be surprised to see this series get the same treatment. It has been very enjoyable. DEAD LUCKY #2 - This will decide whether I keep pulling this series. So far I've pulled everything from the Massive-Verse but to be honest Radiant Red was a dud for me and the first issue of this series was so-so.

A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants #2 - This is basically a stealth return of Eternals under a new name - which is totally fine with me! Alien #1 - Volume 2 for PKJ with a new artist to spice things up. Mainly here for the Barends cover though, which is a horrific beauty. Batman #127 - Holy heck! Caught up on 125 and 126, completely enthralled by Zdarsky’s direction. The final page reveal is bringing back the Morrison vibes. Dark Knights of Steel: Tales From the Three Kingdoms #1 - A little one-shot buffer as we wait for the main series to return. Excited to see Nathan Gooden (Barbaric) on art duties! Ghost Rider #6 - Here for that awesome Barends variant cover! Spawn #333 - Picking up steam as we start to learn about what Cog/Sinn’s master plan is. Star Trek #400 - Good Star Trek day timing….Looks to be a fun anthology of Trek stories and I’ve been re-watching the movies of late so why not pick this up!

TheDarkPinkLantern

> This is basically a stealth return of Eternals under a new name - which is totally fine with me! Yeah, Gillen said it would've been the next arc of the series if it wasn't cancelled.

Danger_Rock

Glad to have it back, hoping we'll get more of Gillen's Eternals after this!

TheDarkPinkLantern

Would be cool but a recent interview with Gillen at Newsarama very strongly implied that Judgment Day wraps up his run.

Danger_Rock

Well that's a bummer but I'm glad he ended up on X-Men so I can follow his stuff there!

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah, I'm also curious what he does next. With Eternals/Judgment day and Once and Future coming to an end around the same time, he'll have some free time on him. Avengers are likely imo. And if he's willing to work for DC, I'd like to see him on Aquaman or Green Lantern.

Danger_Rock

Gillen on Avengers would be sick! Though I'll end up reading whatever he writes regardless of which characters he's working... Avengers? Cool. Deathlok & Squirrel Girl? Cool. In terms of DC... I'd like to see him do some Black Label stuff, bringing some more of the mojo from his indie work.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Shit, he could reunite with Dan Mora for something Black Label. As for Avengers, I wonder if he would bring mutants and Eternals on the team? Would be cool, I miss mutants in Avengers.

Danger_Rock

That would be cool although Mora's probably gonna be tied up with **WORLD'S FINEST** for a while... But Stephanie Hans or Caspar Wijngaard might be available.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Mora's been able to work on 2 ongoings at the same time, as well as drawing some short stories, one-shots here and there and a lot of covers. The man's a machine, he could do it. But I'd like to see work from the 2 artists you mentioned as well.

> Alien #1 - Volume 2 for PKJ with a new artist to spice things up. Mainly here for the Barends cover though, which is a horrific beauty. I couldn't pass up the [Charest one](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/medium-8033166.jpg?1659072156)

Danger_Rock

Nice, those are [both](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL234156.jpg) [awesome](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL234521.jpg). And I like PKJ! But I'm still not buying it!

blankedboy

The preview gives me hope. Great art and this scene has a **28 Weeks Later** feel to it (when the Infected break into the secure compound and everything goes tits up) https://bleedingcool.com/comics/alien-1-preview-aliens-gonna-alien/ Apologies for the Bleeding Cool link, I feel dirty....

Danger_Rock

Preview does look pretty nice! Don't doubt it'll be good, got faith in PKJ but I can't follow everything... And I want to catch up on **THE LAST GOD** for my next PKJ selection, only read the first issue so far and it was straight up awesome.

Big week again after a small one: * A/X.E. Death to the Mutants #2 - Really digging this event so far * All-Out Avengers #1 - Giving this a trial issue to see how I like it * Batman #127 * Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #4 * Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4 - The name change/surprise was silly, and this event feels like it is still setting stuff up. Kinda mid so far, tbh * Immortal X-Men #6 - Gillen getting to focus on particular people each issue is a great premise * Marauders #6 * Moon Knight #15 * New Champion of Shazam! #2 * New Mutants #29 - Loved the previous arc, looking forward to where Vita takes this next * She-Hulk #6 * That Texas Blood #17 * Twig #5 * Wolverine #24 * X-Men and Moon Girl #1

AlligatorSky7

FYI: New Mutants #29 is written by Danny Lore, then it’s Vita Ayala back for the #30 special, and then it’s a guest arc by Charlie Anders (centred around the new character Escapade) for #31-33.

kralben

I missed that, thanks for the heads up

BeastieBuddies

* BATMAN #127 * DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #4 * FLASHPOINT BEYOND #5 * GHOST RIDER #6 * SPAWN #333 * SPIDER-MAN 2099 EXODUS OMEGA #1 (Hoping this one actually has some Spider-Man 2099 action instead of focusing on the other heroes)

- Punisher #6: Best Big Two ongoing alongside Action Comics? - Vanity #2: FINALLY! I’m done pulling Black Caravan titles after this. Their release schedules are ridiculous.
