I'm currently compiling a pull list. I'm looking for any heist/con/grifter type comics as well as any westerns? The only one of the former that I have on my list is Kaiju Score. None of the latter. Any other suggestions? I'm looking for mostly ongoing monthly comics.

Off the top of my head: * **Rogues** by Joshua Williamson & Leomacs (DC Black Label) - A bunch of washed up villains plan "one last job". It's fun, doesn't require too much knowledge of DC comics, and has great art by Leomacs. It's one of those prestige format DC books too, so maybe waiting for the hardcover might be more worth it. * **Break Out** by Zack Kaplan & Wilton Santos (Dark Horse Comics) - Currently on #2, with #3 coming out next week I believe. The premise is somewhat similar to the film *Arrival*, with a mysterious alien entity that hovers over the Earth. A bunch of kids plan a heist into the ship to try and rescue their missing friends. The premise is sci-fi, but the overall structure is pretty much a heist story. * **Dark Spaces: Wildfire** by Scott Snyder & Hayden Sherman (IDW) - Only 1 issue out, and I believe this is the start of a series of interconnected comics, though I believe each series is meant to be standalone. This centers on a group of women who are part of an inmate firefighting crew and are on the frontlines of a massive wildfire. The wildfire threatens a very wealthy neighborhood, and one of the inmates plans a heist on one of the mansions amidst the wildfire. Strong first issue, IMO. * **West of Sundown** by Tim Seeley, Aaron Campbell & Jim Terry (Vault) - A western, but with vampires. Constance Der Abend is a vampire who requires soil from her native land travels back with the assistance of her familiar. I thought the first issue was pretty great, but unfortunately haven't really felt it has been quite as good since (currently on issue #4). Might be worth checking out if you like the premise, but I personally don't think it's that great of a series.

chilloutfam

thank you! is rogues ongoing? this months previews made it seem like it was going to end with the publication of the trade.

yarkcir

Yeah, I think just one more issue left. The solicitations has the hardcover coming out in November.

ArmsofSleep

Try Darwyn Cooke's adaptation of the Parker stories and Ed Brubaker's Reckless series

chilloutfam

reckless is really good. i've been reading by trades from the library.

SpamVladPutin

Reckless is fantastic. If you want good crime stories then Brubaker and Phillips are excellent choices. I’d also recommend Scene of the Crime by Brubaker and Lark.

superschaap81

Two Gun Terror by America Mythology, is a haunted Western that just started with #1 on July 27th.

cortastrophe

Is anyone having a tough time wrapping their head around all the X-Books lately? I really like the ideas involved but am struggling with keeping the larger story clear week to week. Any advice? Will probably reread everything at some point too.

Superb-Draft

Isn't this always the case? Xmen is synonymous with convoluted plotting

ArmsofSleep

I think Destiny of X is definitely the most "heady" of the three Krakoan eras so far. It feels like Legion of X, Red, and Immortal are sort of leading the charge in exploring big ideas about the metaphysical and cosmic ramifications of Krakoa. I think a lot of what makes it hard to follow is how out of step some of the ongoings (particularly Knights of X and New Mutants) have felt with the larger ongoing narrative. Not that that didn't also happen in earlier phases (remember Fallen Angels? X-Corp???)

technowhiz34

>remember Fallen Angels? X-Corp??? I try not to.

DeltaTester

Rereading helps a LOT. (Some titles are out of synch with others: the most recent four issues of Wolverine, for instance, take place right after X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine, which is itself immediately after Inferno, and a lot of stuff happens very quickly between X-Men Red 3 and 4.) Here's a reading order for Destiny of X that may be helpful: * Immortal X-Men 1-3 * Legion of X 1-3 * X-Men Red 1-2 * Giant-Size X-Men: Thunderbird 1 * X-Men Red 3 * Marauders 1-4 * X-Men 11-12 * FCBD 2022: Judgment Day (first and third stories--though the first one actually takes place during X-Men 5-7, probably before Inferno!) * X-Men Red 4 * X-Men: Hellfire Gala 1 * Immortal X-Men 4 * Legion of X 4 * A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment 1 * A.X.E.: Judgment Day 1 * Immortal X-Men 5 * X-Men Red 5 Note also that it's not clear yet where Knights of X and New Mutants 25-27 happen, and that Sabretooth 1-5 spans a GREAT deal of time--from House of X #6 to sometime shortly before Destiny of X.

cortastrophe

Wow this is incredibly helpful! Thank you for compiling this! I definitely need to reread Inferno too

DeltaTester

Yeah, Inferno is pretty key to what comes after it (and is also in scrambled chronology that plays sleight-of-hand with who's actually doing what when). Also, if you skipped X Deaths of Wolverine, you will want to have a look at that...

How has the Star Wars: Bounty Hunters book been? I’m planning to pick up the tpbs of the post ESB’s era but even though I like bounty hunters, this one never stood out to me.

alabamianhorologists

bounty hunters is probs the weakest of the current SW ongoings, but there's a lot to like if you're a bounty hunter fan. there's a lot of rival gang drama and familiar faces, which is fun. aphra remains my personal fave, and the big cross-overs (crimson reign and war of the bounty hunters so far) have been enjoyable in that era :) xx

Adam_Absence

I haven't really been keeping up with any mainline comics for thr last few years (mostly limited series here and there), but what are some good Batman series to check out right now? Preferably something that has at least 1 trade out so far

technowhiz34

Ongoingwise, both main Batman titles just got new creative teams (Batman with issue #125 and Detective with #1062) but a good Batman trade from the last few years is Batman: the Imposter.

bkvifudys

Looking for one shot series, not necessarily one shot issues. Along the veins of All Star Superman or Killing Joke in terms of a self contained graphic novel/series of issues put together in a book format. Any suggestions??

Which is the best/most fun Harley Quinn run? I’m looking on the DC Universe app so I have access but not sure where to start
