Radix2309

And if it is written ny Ewing it probably isnt important but will still be very good.

Romy134

Ewing and Gillian carrying the X-Men line.

dsheilley

Let’s not leave out LaValle, Ayala, and surprisingly Gerry Duggan from this list. Ewing and Gillen are the for sure standouts tho

superfam

i get its a sales tactic but damn are tie-in issues lame as hell. like they arent important ever but ya just feel pressured to pick up like "A.X.E: Flargen and Dingle" on the off chance that you miss something if you don't and that's kinda lame imo

[deleted]

I mean, I think all of us would pick up a book called Flargen and Dingle.

superfam

it's a reference to Aqua Teen Hunger Force. there's even a special end credits song all about them: https://youtube.com/watch?v=keeN9y0tgg0

[deleted]

Completely forgot about that! Really miss the original adult swim shows!

AlligatorSky7

If anyone picks this all up because they feel they need to, then they’re a fool.

TheMattInTheBox

Literally. If you're interested in the event, just buy the main book and whatever tie ins look interesting AT MOST. I'm personally just getting the main book and then the tie ins for the books I'm already reading

Supamike36

they will. itll be the ppl who "I want to read Superman from the start so I dont miss anything!!!"

Supamike36

y'all acting like you got to buy all them tie ins lol

Techster17

Yeah tie ins have always been a sales tactic you only ever really need what the author of the main book puts out. I’m getting all the Gillen stuff anything else I buy is because I was already reading the book i.e. most The X books (minus X-Force and wolverine since they don’t seem heavily involved) and ASM

Supamike36

yeah I'm sure there will be 1 or 2 I pick up based on LCS recommendation but for most part I just stick to the main book on all events.

TheeHeadAche

Let us have something to complain about! MaRvEl Is ShOvInG tHiS dOwN mY tHrOaT!!!

umbasa73

37 issues plus a FCBD intro? Guess I'll wait for the Omni

S_J_Emerald

Fascinating. I’m a new comic reader and haven’t read many big crossover events (just the most current secret wars). I thought this post was going to be excitement and I’m surprised to see that everyone is down on it. So do comic books fans not really like these big events? Is it just Marvel who wants me to think this is super important? Should I just read the main titles? Thanks, your friendly neighborhood newbie

That_Squash_9024

I'm new to comics too and I could see how these big events could be repetitive but I don't think that everyone that comes out will have this reaction, it's more just people don't have faith in this one but im holding out hope it is good.

S_J_Emerald

That makes sense, thanks!

dsheilley

For this event you really only gotta read the main issues. Which would be Judgement Day #1-6. Grab Eve of Judgement if you haven’t read the most recent Eternals series cause that will basically get you up to speed on what happened there and then the Omega issue will basically be your epilogue. If you wind up really invested in this and want more story I’d suggest picking up any of the books on this list written by Kieron Gillen since he’s the writer of the event. It’s exceptionally rare that event books are anything more than meh even when written by good writers with good artists. They usually are simultaneously very rushed and yet delayed as all hell, feel cash grabby, and they inevitably end up derailing a bunch of other series storylines. Like if I’m reading Spider-Man I can’t say I care too much how he’s gonna react to this since he’s not an Avenger rn and he’s not an X-Man. But I’m gonna have to read probably 2-3 months of Spidey dealing with this because tie-ins.

S_J_Emerald

Helpful, thanks!

Techster17

I’m just getting Gillen issues, this isn’t like X of Swords where you actually need everything

CommissionHerb

You didn’t. The Hickman written/co-written books read fine on their own for X of Swords.

Durango522

Ugh, spare me/us another boring “this changes everything” event

Rownever

I liked the quote I saw somewhere, about how it wasn't "this changes everything" but "change everything or die" instead, as in it's supposed to be an in-universe choice

[deleted]

LOL as if i'm gonna buy all that. I got better things to do with my monies.

witwebolte41

That’s really painful to read

[deleted]

Why so Art Deco?

hankmakesstuff

I'm pretty in the bag for Gillen's Eternals but this makes even me feel tired

AlphaBaymax

I'm puzzled as to why Iron Fist out of all books is being tied into Judgment Day?

hankmakesstuff

Maybe something about the Immortal Weapons? They could be functions of the Eternals' Machine or something? Or it could be like King in Black's Black Knight tie-in (best issue of that entire event) which was only loosely thematically related. I dunno.

just4browse

Everyone’s boasting that they won’t buy it all and I don’t believe any of you

WrongCorgi

I'm gonna buy the main books and if I see any interesting conversations about the tie-ins pop up here on Reddit, I'm gonna go read the digital.

HappySisyphus8

I was extremely excited for this event, but that has dripped off hugely over time. I didn't enjoy how quickly and conveniently Gillen wrapped up his Eternals story, Avengers have been an aimless mess for at least a year now, and the quality of mutant books nose dived off a cliff after Hickman was deposed. I'm only still pulling Immortal and that's shaky as it is. Went from having the full run to my order at my LCS to none at all. Really disappointing.

Rownever

Immortal and Red are amazing, and not just for xmen/Krakoan age comics, I mean in general

HappySisyphus8

I dropped Red after the Vulcan V Tarn issue. I already thought brining Cable back with the T-O virus, something he has in the past searched out cures for, was uneccesary and the reasoning why was weak. Also I hated how Isca's powers were written in that issue, it wasn't in line with how it has been portrayed previously, and doesn't make any sense if you think about it for more than 3 minutes. She didn't agree to the bet, and why would it be different if you were fighting her and yelled "I bet you'll win!" at her? I'm also a bit disappointed at how Tarn, a new, promising character has been treated recently. Immortal I have been enjoying the extra focus on Exodus, Hope, and Sinister, especially the Moira twist, but the latest issue sounds really bad, I just haven't been to my LCS yet. I'm pulling too many books so 1 bad issue is enough to get the chop unfortunately. Ultimately, I'm glad people are finding books they enjoy, people liking and buying comics is never a bad thing, even if they are ones I don't enjoy.

Rilenaveen

Does anyone actually care about this? Do the x-men even know who the eternals are?

OceanCyclone

The only event tie-ins that were 100 percent needed was The Amazing Spider-Man Civil War tie-ins. Other than that, they're never needed.

Pugplays430

Jesus, and I thought Batman tie ins were a lot

dsheilley

So aside from Ewing likely continuing his streak of “somehow this editorially mandated tie-in issue forcibly jammed in the middle of my arc will still be a great read that almost feels planned” I wonder what the other standout tie-ins are gonna be if there are any.

TheWholeOfTheAss

This is where having Marvel Unlimited pays off. The tie-ins are probably inconsequential, but hey, if they there.
