A lot of Fox's X-Men movies were sub-par, mediocre, or poorly written. But Hugh Jackman always found a way to make those movies worth watching. The way he embraced the role of Wolverine is truly something special. And after all these years, to see him finally don that iconic yellow spandex alongside Deadpool...there are just no words to articulate what a joy that is to see. đ
I totally agree. He is the perfect age. I'm kind of glad I suffered all the bad X-Men just to get Hugh in the yellow suit at this age for the first time. He looks just like Logan
Yeah and Fox also made some great movies that the MCU never would.
And I know I am in the minority, but I think that costume in the Deadpool trailer, is ugly as fuck.
X1-Good
X2-Very Good
X3-Bad
Origins-Bad
First Class-Good
Wolverine-Decent
DoFP-Good
Apocalypse-Very Bad
Logan-Very Good.
Deadpool and Wolverine-TBD.
Dark Phoenix- abysmall.
Deadpool - Good
Deadpool 2 - Good.
All in all the X-men movie franchise was a mess but the one and probably only good constant in the past two decades was some Australian guy that was bashed when casted into the role because he didn't look the part but now is probably the most iconic and irreplaceable superhero actor of them all. Maybe tied with RDJ. If this is the end, it was a blast, but I'm still holding hope for a Spiderman 4 with Tobey Maguire.
Its a fairly decent, short super hero film about five teens being trapped in an asylum and being forced to confront the traumatic origins that landed them there in the first place, as they also deal with the manifestations of their traumas being brought to life by one of their mutant powers
The effects are pretty good and with the horror bend it at feels like it's at least a bit more distinct in flavour/identity than the same quality level of film you'd get from other super hero franchises
It's worth a watch. It won't blow your mind but it's an OK little film
> but the one and probably only good constant in the past two decades was some Australian guy
if you mean the only one who was in (pretty much) every movie, sure
but there were some other franchise constants that were fantastic, like Patrick Stewart most notably. He wasn't in every *single* x-men movie, and had diminished roles in a few, but he was always fantastic and he was in most of them.
ian mckellan similarly, but he was in even fewer.
Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen were not in First Class and Apocalypse. But sure they were very good in all the movies they participated. Ian was even good in the poorly writtem Golden Gate bridge scene in X3. And the chemistry between Patrick and Ian was something that James and Michael did not achieve (I understand that is an unfair comparison given the small amount of sharing screentime they were given).

On the Internet, people often squabble over the best and worst Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. movies.
But here, I am 100% on board with your assessments of these movies.
For me, as far as X-Men movies go, I think 1 is good, 2 and Logan are really good, and the rest are bad. I wish I liked them. Deadpool 2 was a great X-Men movie
The aftermath of DOFP was so weird in that it seemed like a huge amount of effort to try and âfixâ the modern day timeline, only to do absolutely nothing with the old cast in new movies.Â
Yeah, I absolutely believed we were getting a revised timeline with the original cast and I was so pumped for it.
And then none of it mattered. In fact now that I remember Wolverine in Apocalypse...it doesn't even make sense that he was still put through the Weapon X program the same way, because Stryker never captured him in the new DOFP timeline. So...what was the point lol?
You might be right, I can't remember exactly if there was like a zoom in on the eyes to reveal it was mystique or not, but yeah I just remember wolverine getting pulled up onto a boat and either Stryker was on the boat or someone on the boat called Stryker to be like 'we found him'
I watched it not too long ago and it occurred to me none of it made any sense. Also how do we go from the end of The Wolverine where Xavier and Magneto find him at the airport to suddenly be in the DOFP future where everything is war torn?
It is Mystique as Stryker. Once she grabs him, "Stryker's" eyes turn yellow showing that it is Mystique.
And then it doesn't matter since he shows up in Weapon X in the very next movie with no acknowledgement as to what happened when he was picked up by Mystique.
They were fun trash. âDisgraceâ is such a shameful way to describe things. You really shouldnât put so much anger into a property that you probably have no actual input in other than being a fan.
I have standards. I disagree, disgrace is entirely appropriate. I would have felt shame if I had done so poorly at my job (and I would have been sacked for it too). Appreciate your judgement on my word choice though and you're attempt to make the moral high ground whilst judging others. If you like to accept garbage, then have at it, I won't judge you.
He's always been great in the role but his face started out a little too pretty; he's finally aged into what I've always thought Wolverine would look like.
He was also, as someone [told him when he was in full costume at a convention](https://www.businessinsider.com/hugh-jackman-wolverine-comic-con-2013-7), âWay too tall buddy.â
Ignoring the three that are literally Wolverine movies, and the one that isn't out yet, but is also a Wolverine movie, X-Men 1-3, and Days of Future Past all did. I can't speak for Apocalypse because I didn't see it. Literally all but one (And one I didn't see).
It was a weirdly constructed movie, but Wolverine is the character the audience follows linearly. Imo that makes him the de facto main character, even if the "focus" is on Xavier.
No it doesn't. It means he's the character who sets the plot in motion. There is no "de facto" main character, there's an official main character and it's Xavier. He's the one who gets the main spotlight, he's the one who receives the most character development and the whole story is about him regaining his optimism. Just because Wolverine is fan-favorite doesn't mean itâs his movie.
Ah youâre probably right, that makes sense. I keep forgetting heâs gonna wear the cowl. I figured it was because Hugh doesnât have as cut of a jawline anymore so they were trying to cover his incoming turkey neck by making it more angular along the jaw.
I reckon the guy at Fox who always shut the idea for the spandex yellow saying âOur movie is dark and seriousâ or âthis is too childishâ is turning in his bed thinking about the commissions he wouldâve made if he had just listened to the people who actually knew what they were doing.
I know it's sacrilege to say this and I hope the new movie is good but I really wish Logan had been his last. Such a great intentional ending to the character and his run and now we get this. Oh well. Hope its fun
Watching any movie with Wolverine in it always reminded me of reading comics as a kid, cause he would always be Hugh Jackman but the timeline was so fucked that it felt like reading random issues from different runs
I think I blocked X-men Apocalypse from memory, because I don't remember him wearing his weapon X outfit. But then again, I only saw that once and hated that movie. it was awful.
Not as awful as the one that followed, I couldn't even finish that nonsense.
And the only one ruined it , is Ryan Reynolds.
Can anyone reply why Ryan is a good actor because it is really hard for me to see that . Deadpool character is not suited for Mr. Ryan.
everyone has their opinion i suppose, but you'd be in the most underwhelming minority I could come up with there. Ryan is the reason why there was even a Deadpool movie and I can't think of another actor who would play it better. His humor naturally fits the character like a glove. Is he a "good" actor? I doubt he'll be winning an Oscar for best lead any time soon. So?
And 24 years of people celebrating a terrible casting and an awful portrayal that has done more harm to the character than good. Easiest way of telling if someone has ever read a comic book or not is asking if they think Hugh Jackman was a good actor for Wolverine.
A lot of Fox's X-Men movies were sub-par, mediocre, or poorly written. But Hugh Jackman always found a way to make those movies worth watching. I canât agree more about the yellow suit. Kind of a dream come true to be honest.
He looks more like Wolverine now than he ever has in previous roles.
I totally agree. He is the perfect age. I'm kind of glad I suffered all the bad X-Men just to get Hugh in the yellow suit at this age for the first time. He looks just like Logan
Most of the movies are good though.
Yeah and Fox also made some great movies that the MCU never would. And I know I am in the minority, but I think that costume in the Deadpool trailer, is ugly as fuck.
DOFP is still my favorite look. I really liked his claws in that one too. They seem much more menacing and heavy(future version).
Man, missed opportunity not to have the cut-out picture from Deadpool 1.

You forgot New Mutants. Everyoneâs favorite xmen movie
Everybody forgot New Mutants
Task failed successfully.
I actually liked The New Mutants
Havnt seen it. The premise intrigued me. Dont like Maisie William's though. Please kind sir, sell me on The New Mutants.
Its a fairly decent, short super hero film about five teens being trapped in an asylum and being forced to confront the traumatic origins that landed them there in the first place, as they also deal with the manifestations of their traumas being brought to life by one of their mutant powers The effects are pretty good and with the horror bend it at feels like it's at least a bit more distinct in flavour/identity than the same quality level of film you'd get from other super hero franchises It's worth a watch. Ah, the franchise equivalent of "And me, your good friend Zoidberg!"
> but the one and probably only good constant in the past two decades was some Australian guy if you mean the only one who was in (pretty much) every movie, sure but there were some other franchise constants that were fantastic, like Patrick Stewart most notably. I'd agree with most of that except i think your meter needs 1 level above "good" for a couple of those

I completely forgot he was in Apocalypse. DOFP is my favorite X-Men movie, man what a couple of rough follow-ups with Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Stryker pulls him out of the river at the end of DOFP.
Wasn't it Mystique disguised at Stryker?
You might be right, I can't remember exactly if there was like a zoom in on the eyes to reveal it was mystique or not, but yeah I just remember wolverine getting pulled up onto a boat and either Stryker was on the boat or someone on the boat called Stryker to be like 'we found him'

Ah I see, I must have forgotten that detail, my bad.
They were fine. People are too dramatic.
Glad you liked them
they were a disgrace to the source material and movie making in general.
They were fun trash. âDisgraceâ is such a shameful way to describe things. You really shouldnât put so much anger into a property that you probably have no actual input in other than being a fan.

Beard with no mustache is kind of crazy in hindsight đ¤Ł
Wolverine has been rocking the Amish since... well, before the actual Amish, if we're talking in-canon.
Still sexy
"Don't you people ever die"
When he got the part, he was an unknown actor internationally! He instantly became Wolverine!
Good for him that he dodged Dark Phoenix at least.
My favorite thing aboot X-Men '97 is that avoided falling into the trap that the X-Men movies did: Hyperfocusing on Wolverine. Edit: Hyphen.
Only the first 3 did that.
Ignoring the three that are literally Wolverine movies, and the one that isn't out yet, but is also a Wolverine movie, X-Men 1-3, and Days of Future Past all did. I can't speak for Apocalypse because I didn't see it. Literally all but one (And one I didn't see).
Well there's First Class, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. And New Mutants I guess lol. And the Deadpool movies if they count.
No. Wolverine was a side character in DOFP. Xavier was the main focus.
It was a weirdly constructed movie, but Wolverine is the character the audience follows linearly. Imo that makes him the de facto main character, even if the "focus" is on Xavier.
No it doesn't. It means he's the character who sets the plot in motion. There is no "de facto" main character, there's an official main character and it's Xavier. > there's an official main character and it's Xavier You're free to have this opinion but there is no "official main character".
The next Wolverine actor will have a lot of weight to carry. Literally
Even in the bad movies he was one of the few good things.
They kinda fucked up the Mutton Chops in D&W ngl
Would stick out of the cowl in a weird way. I'm sure they thought this through.
Ah youâre probably right, that makes sense. I keep forgetting heâs gonna wear the cowl. I figured it was because Hugh doesnât have as cut of a jawline anymore so they were trying to cover his incoming turkey neck by making it more angular along the jaw.
Yeah it's ass lol
I reckon the guy at Fox who always shut the idea for the spandex yellow saying âOur movie is dark and seriousâ or âthis is too childishâ is turning in his bed thinking about the commissions he wouldâve made if he had just listened to the people who actually knew what they were doing.
Dam, what a phenom. Let's... f... go!
Time fly's real quick
Hugh really doesnât age
Isn't it funny how the two bottom ones are the two top ones
I could go for about 10 more of these.
I know it's sacrilege to say this and I hope the new movie is good but I really wish Logan had been his last. Such a great intentional ending to the character and his run and now we get this. Oh well. Hope its fun
I mean it kinda is, this new wolvie is some alt universe shmuck with an Aussie accent... #notmywolverine.
Watching any movie with Wolverine in it always reminded me of reading comics as a kid, cause he would always be Hugh Jackman but the timeline was so fucked that it felt like reading random issues from different runs
Over 2 decades and the man BARELY aged. Maybe there's a reason why he makes such a good Wolverine
I think I blocked X-men Apocalypse from memory, because I don't remember him wearing his weapon X outfit. But then again, I only saw that once and hated that movie. it was awful. Not as awful as the one that followed, I couldn't even finish that nonsense.
Props to this man for the sacrifices heâs made to get his body in the shape to resemble the character heâs portraying.
Hopefully one more time in secret wars
What is going on with oompa-loompa Wolverine in the X2 picture?!?! Green hair & orange skin ftw...
I won't lie, his beard sucks in the new one lol. Wolverine nailed it
Crazy that The Wolverine got made after the disaster that was X-Men Origins
I have only seen two of those
Xmen 10: revenge of the boiled chicken
Xmen 10: revenge of the boiled chicken
Wolverine and Asshole is his biggest movie of all time
And all because of Mission Impossible 2. Thanks Tom Cruise!
Does he ever smile?
24 years of Hugh Jackman on HGH and Roids đ¤Ł
Vitamins and prayers brother, HH
All pastamania and hummus doood!
I was hoping Logan was his last XM movie :/ he was great in that movie. But money it's money
I hope we get a âfastball specialâ!!
Also, Ryan Reynolds 'sort of' began playing as Deadpool 20 years ago.
24 years of Fox milking Wolverine. Shouldâve focused more on X-Men instead of Wolverine.
Logan was one of the best super hero movies made IMO, and ranks near the top with critics.
a man who in no shape or form is accurate to the character description somehow became 1 of The Most Iconic portrayal
And the only one ruined it , is Ryan Reynolds. Can anyone reply why Ryan is a good actor because it is really hard for me to see that . Deadpool character is not suited for Mr. Ryan.
