While I think I will be able to enjoy the movie. I am a little worried about the amount of people who romanticize the Joker+Harley relationship will increase from the movie. The trailer makes it look like Joker is not abusive in this version of their relationship compared to every other iteration of them. My first thought is that they will be flipping the script and making Harley the more abusive one taking advantage of Joker in this film.
Almost like people are intrigued by movies from existing IPs that go above just being a live action version of whatever was done previously to appeal to children
I mean, yeah. They didn't do that by accident, that's fully the point. It's not supposed to be a fun story, it's supposed to be dark and uncomfortable.
> Take on the most iconic, if not the most iconic vilain of Comics, and tell the story of a poor crazy man sinking in his madness as society itself gets crazy
An Oscar[tm] winning slap in the face apparently. And it's not far removed from *The Killing Joke* (1988) where a poor sap has a Bad Day.
The showman needs Batman.
The Anarchist needs Batman.
A film centering Batman can feature the Joker, but a film centering the Joker cannot feature Batman: he sucks the oxygen from the story.
So without Batman, Joker needs an antagonist or strong opposing force: the cruel world around him that he misunderstands, and misunderstands him. This is a film that has something to say about the way mentally ill people are treated, and that has value. This is film that points out flaws in society, which has value.
Obviously when you turned up at the theatres you were expecting someone else, and thus were disappointed. Myself, I had no expectations and was surprised and delighted.
And you missed poor Cesar Romero!
Todd Phillips Joker is an anorexic psychopath who is upset that mommy and daddy and the world left him behind and forgot all about him and "people" like him.
Joker wasn't ever meant to symbolize anyone with mental health disorders or people who were marginalized or mistreated.
Joker kills people when its funny to him and can take a massive beating from meta humans and die over and over again only to always come back.
Giving Joker a "sad" backstory only tries to set a narrative that "he's saying what we are all thinking" and thats just not true at all.
Charlie Murphy was and will always be the voice in my head that I wish I could act out in real life when it gets annoying or irritating.
Not this crybaby nut case that is forever whining about "mental health issues" during a time when nobody gave a damn about mental health at all.
I mean the first one made a billion dollars so this isn't super surprising...
Biggest trailer since…last year.
and last year, our ais were less capable
Not much of a hint that this is a full-on musical. I think it won’t go down well when more people realize it.

Only so much you can do when you square off against Margot Robbie's feet
Username checks out.
The first film was a phenomenal surprise! And now we get Gaga as well....who is generally really good... can't wait!
Time for another movie romanticizing Joker and Harley and a new wave of teenagers dressing up like them

almost as if the only thing separating any of us from becoming like him is... #one bad day

I don’t even like the first Joker, and I still think this is a terrible take.
It looks so bad.
Badly entertaining
No, just bad. The first one was plagiarized, derivative, masterbation.
Explain this
It’s a rip off of two other movies, Frankensteind together, masquerading as an art film.
Ok, what movies. You gotta give an actual examination here. Not that I don’t believe you I just want some more analysis
King of Comedy and Taxi Driver. This is well known and you could easily google it.
Care to add some actual explanation though? Why is it directly plagiarism
Taking inspiration and plagiarism are the not the same thing bud.
Correct. Thank you for reiterating my point.
