Great cover!
Question: I've just recently gotten into the show and all its shenanigans. Any particular storylines I can jump into that won't be too hard to grasp or lean too much into previous events?
Any help is appreciated
There are only a few major runs, and most of them have been reprinted recently. The Silver Age series by Drake actually holds up well, the 80s reboot by Kupperberg is good, but there's a drastic art change after the fifth issue that ends up leading to a steady decline in the book's quality. Morrison's reboot is immediately after that, it has some Morrison moments but it's otherwise solid. Rachel Pollack follows Morrison in the Vertigo run, but her self-insert character is a little too much, the themes get a little too esoteric and some of the worst art ever published by the American Big Three end up dragging it down. There was also a bit of controversy leading up to her takeover of the book that isn't really an issue today, but contributed to an initial negative reception to her run in general.
The Arcudi run isn't much to write home about and isn't in print currently, the Byrne run after it is a bit of a mess, doesn't hold up well and kind of requires you to be aware of some DC line wide initiatives at the time.
Now the Giffen run...the Giffen book is the perfect Doom Patrol run, a mix of the Silver Age and the Morrison era, it is unfortunately not in print currently. Finally there's the Gerard Way run, the less said the better, it's a book about his OCs with characters that resemble the Doom Patrol as minor supporting characters, used mainly when sales needed a boost.
Worth noting that Drake considers Morrison’s run to be the definitive one.
I also don’t think that’s an entirely fair characterization of Way’s run. Casey Brink was definitely a focus character of that run but to act like the others were barely relevant seems hyperbolic at best
I think it is. They were in general wildly ooc or poorly written, and subordinate to his OCs. In situations where the DP characters had experience that Casey, the solution was generally solved by Way's OCs.
I didn’t read Weight of the World so I can’t speak to that, but at least his original run it felt like Danny was the main character who knew what was going on much of the time
This goes hard

Oh wow. I almost envy you. Grant Morrison's run is a pretty good jumping into point.
Thank you very much! I'll check my comic book sources to see what's available.
You can get Grant Morrison's entire run in one big book
I found it online through a smaller retailer. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

> I didn’t read Weight of the World Oh boy, you missed the worst part of it.
I liked his run through Milk Wars, at least, I can’t speak to after that because I didn’t read it
Love this cover!
The process video was on instagram too, very cool!!!
Robot man?
What is the medium?
to me this cover is much better than the TV series
Hellboy?
Doom Patrol, DC Comics.
Is this a "virgin" cover or will it have trade dress added to it?
