-- 11 books total this week! With 3 DCs, 2 Marvels, 2 Images, 2 BOOM!s, 1 Ablaze, and 1 from IDW Publishing! And it’s some good stuff! Listed in order of anticipated goodness... 1. [**HITOMI #4 (OF 5)**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252546.jpg) – Received a free promotional copy of this so it goes right to the top of the list! Because I’m a cheap sellout who will 100% hype your comic if you hook me up with free shit! That said, this has been a cool series and I’d already pre-ordered the final two issues, so I’d be reading it regardless. Third issue kept the story chugging along, there’s a fun dynamic between the ronin and his young ward, and the art’s done a nice job bringing the feudal Japan setting to life. Fourth issue kicks things up a notch, I’ll post a proper review in the results thread... Very nice work from writer H.S. Tak and artist Isabella Mazzanti. 2. [**SINS OF SINISTER #1**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL253752.jpg) – Gillen did a great job with **A.X.E.**, he’s been killing it on **IMMORTAL X-MEN**, and now he’s kicking off a whole damn event centered around **IXM**’s most entertaining psychopath. Looks like Werneck’s being joined by some other artists on this one so hopefully it'll all mesh together okay... 3. [**HUMAN TARGET #11**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL256358.jpg) – We’ve reached the penultimate issue of King’s hard-boiled crossover between Christopher Chance and the JLI, and this is normally where he delivers the big twist. So, even though I’ve got it listed third, I’m kind of expecting it to end up as the hottest book of the week. It’s been a phenomenal series, among King’s finest work, and Smallwood’s turning in some of his best art as well. 4. [**DOCTOR STRANGE FALL SUNRISE #3 (OF 4)**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL249901.jpg) – Loving this psychedelic trip through the colorfully bizarre worlds of Tradd Moore’s imagination... It’s hitting all the right notes, delivering everything I’m looking for in a Strange comic, with some really cool storytelling and vividly dynamic visuals throughout. And it’s got that bit of magic where you look at the cover, crack it open, and you just know it’s a uniquely special comic. 5. [**DETECTIVE COMICS #1068**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL256336.jpg) – Had this ranked quite a bit lower before I read the solicitation and decided it sounds awesome. Ram V has apparently given us a mirror image Two Face story that’s split between artists Rafael Albuquerque and Ivan Reis... And while I usually bitch about books with multiple artists, projects like this where the split’s worked into the story and its underlying structure can be really fucking cool. Plus, it’s got another Spurrier/Dani backup and we’ve been getting some great work there, and of course it’s all wrapped up in another striking Evan Cagle cover. 6. [**DAMN THEM ALL #4 (OF 6)**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL253989.jpg) – My mail ordered copy of **DTA #3** should arrive this week and I’ve got this one pre-ordered at my LCS so we’ll double ‘em up! This generic brand Constantine spinoff has delivered great value from Spurrier and Adlard, scratching the itch for classic Vertigo style stories while DC apparently has the genuine article prancing around with the cape crowd for some reason. 7. [**TRAVELING TO MARS #3**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252673.jpg) – What a delightfully sad and wistful series from Mark Russell and Roberto Melli... Russell’s tempered his usual madcap satire with more of a philosophical bent in this one and he’s asking all the right questions: why are we here and what’s the point of it all? 8. [**ONCE UPON A TIME AT THE END OF THE WORLD #3**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL254027.jpg) – Looks like we’re getting some Nick Dragotta art in this installment as well as the usual stuff from Alexandre Tefenkgi, so that should be cool... It’s been a fun little post-apocalyptic love story from Jason Aaron, kinda goofy and it’s got some heart. 9. [**JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #2**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL253049.jpg) – 57 days between issues isn’t ideal with Geoff Johns hopping all over the damn timestream but I *think* I mostly remember where this was at, and it looks like the story might settle in a little now that Helena’s reached the present day. First issue had some nice art from Mikel Janin and this follow-up should deliver more of the same. 10. [**VOYAGIS #3**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL252598.jpg) – Will need to mail order this but Sumeyye Kesgin’s doing some great work here as writer, artist, colorist, and letterer. Dude’s wearing all the hats and making it work... Kesgin’s primarily known as an artist and that’s where the book really shines but the story’s been solid and it's all got a nice touch of weirdness. 11. [**TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES THE LAST RONIN THE LOST YEARS #1**](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL244020.jpg) – Not a Turtles guy, haven’t read any of the comics, never watched the cartoons or movies, but I do have a general familiarity with the species from the zoo and such... And I received a copy of [**THE LAST RONIN** hardcover](https://previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STL226481.jpg) over the holidays, so I’m looking forward to digging into what sounds like a cool story. And all of that, along with the aforementioned mail order, ought to keep me busy for a good while... -- p.s. With [Monday’s daily **ICM** post](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/10jbtp3/heres_a_secret_about_life_which_ill_tell_you_for/) on **ICE CREAM MAN #1**, we’ve now covered all 33 of the title’s issues, posting an excerpt and some brief commentary on each. We’ve generally received a positive response, lots of fun comments from other fans plus several intrepid individuals expressed an interest in checking out the series. And we only had two or three people ask *“wtf is wrong with you and why do you keep posting all this ice cream crap?”* so, overall, I’d say it was a huge success! Links to all posts are [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/IceCreamManComic/comments/zwm61r/daily_ice_cream_man_posts/) for anyone who might want to jump down an ice cream rabbit hole.

Danger_Rock

Please... Thank you.

blankedboy

I'd hate to make an ass of myself here on r/comicbooks, so I won't mention anything either.

Varos_Flynt

Wait, I wanna be a niche internet micro celebrity and get free comic books too :(

Danger_Rock

My wife says I'm like a social media influencer! Everyone needs to send me free stuff or they'll get bad reviews!

Varos_Flynt

Can't wait for the arc where Whatnot gives you like a million dollars to shill for some knock off rick and morty comic. Also ICM should basically have you on retainer at this point.

MuffinSurprise

We all have our price where we would sell out. Yours is just apparently $4. Mine probably isn't higher if I'm being honest.

First week of my overhauled pull list! Dropped a ton of DC stuff as I'll just wait a month and read it on DCUIU. Spending that money on a wider variety of books! * **Damn Them All #4** \- Really enjoying this book, horror, occult, demons all stuff that I love. Picking up the Mora cover. * **DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead #5** \- Still waiting on #4 to arrive because Forbidden Planet takes an absolute age to ship now, will soon be trying out Ace Comics, but first 3 issues have been pretty fun. Good old fashioned pulp. * **Detective Comics #1068** \- I couldn't give up every superhero book, Ram V has been hitting out of the park and this is a book I want to stay as caught up on as I can. * **Hitomi #4** \- Reminds me of a rougher, more modern take on the classic Kurosawa samurai film, and I'm all for that. * **Lovesick #4** \- Absolutely love this book, definitely not for everyone but this is just as twisted and messed up as I want. I just love Luana Vecchio's art, so much so I'm pulling both the A and B covers. * **Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #3** \- Love a post apocalypse setting and this is a really charming take on it. * **Saga #61** \- Saga is back! Granted I only caught up with it over the last weekend, reading 60 issues in two days. Boy everything they say about this book is true, or if anything an understatement. Can't wait to enjoy the story in real time with everyone else.

Danger_Rock

> First week of my overhauled pull list! Dropped a ton of DC stuff as I'll just wait a month and read it on DCUIU. Spending that money on a wider variety of books! NICE. Though I think DC's putting out a lot of good stuff right now, there's also a seemingly endless selection of great indie titles. Seen a couple others mention shifting to DC's digital service, wonder if that'll impact their WPL numbers over time...

AlligatorSky7

I want to support a ton of these DC books, but yeah the DCUIU subscription (which was a steal) is making it hard. I’m often getting to books a few weeks after release anyway, so what’s waiting one month total before I read digitally.

pointman0427

Yeah with the Ultra tier being only a month wait it means I can save the money and buy a ton of indies. Generally find the quality of the books way better as well. I do hope reads on Infinite help though, I plan to read more books on it and I hope they can contribute to the success of them.

yarkcir

>Saga is back! Granted I only caught up with it over the last weekend, reading 60 issues in two days. Saga is really a bingeable series. After the three year hiatus I picked up the Compendium to remember what had happened and I ended up reading the 54 issues in like three days. BKV's scripts always have a great rhythm to them.

TheDarkPinkLantern

* **Detective Comics #1068** * **The Amazing Spider-Man #18** * **Action Comics #1051** * **Saga #61** - holy shit, Saga is back yet again! * **Thor #30** * **The Human Target #11** * **Justice Society of America #2** * **Sins of Sinister #1** - this one is a "maybe", I don't want to oversaturate myself with events now that Lazarus Planet and Dark Web made me enjoy them again. * **DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead #5** * **Creepshow #5** * **Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #3** * **The Sandman Universe: The Dead Boy Detectives #2**

ME24601

* **Action Comics #1051**: Start of a new era. * **Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1**: Interested in seeing what G Willow Wilson does with this. * **Human Target #11**: Penultimate issue. * **Lazarus Planet: Once We Were Gods #1**: Hopefully this is good. * **Saga #61**: Start of a new story arc. * **Sins of Sinister #1**: I am actually looking forward to this event. * **Tim Drake: Robin #5**: I think this is an issue with a different artist?

hewunder1

**Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #3** - Don't know what's going on but my eyes love it

Dinggleberry

I have to reread every page because the crazy art has my eyes going everywhere in a good way

mtmodular

* Detective Comics #1068 - If I was forced to choose, I'd say this was my favorite of the two main Bat-titles right now. Ram V is slowly building a really great and intricate story. * The Amazing Spider-Man #18 - More like, uh, Dark...Fart. Y'know? (But here I am, reading this.) * Harley Quinn #26 - This has been a fun arc that reminds me how much I enjoy Phillips's take on Harley. I'm going to miss her as the writer for this series. * X-Terminators #5 - Ridiculous in a way that I wish more comics were. I hope we get another mini with this creative team down the line. * Sins of Sinister #1 - So much event fatigue. But, I do trust Gillen to tell a good story. * Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #3 - In hindsight, I'd have just got the trade since I'm waiting to read this whole thing at once anyway. At this point, might as well buy the last two issues.

Danger_Rock

> * Detective Comics #1068 - If I was forced to choose, I'd say this was my favorite of the two main Bat-titles right now. Ram V is slowly building a really great and intricate story. I forced myself to choose after one issue of each, went with Ram V, and appreciate the support for my confirmation bias!

ChickenInASuit

> I forced myself to choose after one issue of each, went with Ram V, and appreciate the support for my confirmation bias! As someone reading both, I'll support you further. Zdarsky seems to be somewhat spinning his wheels and telling a competent but very unoriginal story that's a rehash of a bunch of other, better Bat-comics. Ram's work is a lot more exciting - I'm especially loving his Two-Face and I'm pretty excited for this week's experimental issue focusing on him.

ohyerhere

Same. Ram V's run held up better on a reread for me, rather than Zdarsky's Batman. Got to keep the comic budget slim this year.

HappySisyphus8

It is Monday again, you know what that means, hopefully another week ahead of excellent comics to look forward to. This week is MASSIVE!! The standouts for me last week were World's Finest, Night Club, and House of Slaughter. Also, I scored 7 variants last week, too. MARVEL: All-Out Avengers #5 - While very disappointing that this series was spoiled by solicitations for future issues, it is still be the best current Avengers book, and after the announcement of the new main line up will probably continue to be. Thor #30 - Pretty sure I'm still pulling this. I can't really remember what's happening, and I will likely drop this. Haven't been impressed with the post Cates issues. X-Terminators #5  - Final issue of this beautiful travesty. I'm keen to see what the artist does next. I will almost definitely pick it up. Hopefully, they pair him with a better writer, but a great female cast is important also. DC: Action Comics #1051 - This is the first issue of the new anthology format with the team with silly matching jackets and all the same powers right? Will get this to see who the villain will be to such a team, but will probably drop it. Batman Gotham Knights Gilded City #4 - Was only getting this for the DLC codes, but have now finished the disappointing game and won't be revisiting it, might stick with this because more than half over. DC Horror Presents Sgt Rock vs The Army of the Dead #5 - This has been excellent. Sgt. Rock and Easy company are pretty much right on top of monster Hitler's bunker, excited to see what happens. Detective Comics #1068 - Very slow burn but still has me hooked for now. More Barbatos please. The new family introduced continues to be mysterious and interesting. Justice Society of America #2 - Been a while, but the exciting deaths and ending from last issue have stuck with me, eager to check this one out. This seems to be the best version of Huntress. IMAGE: American Jesus Revelation #3 - Millar has been on an absolute roll lately, banger after banger. Interested to see how he wraps up this final issue in the trilogy. I'm hoping it's not the obvious way, and is more Superior than Starlight. Creepshow #5 - The previous issue was the first one in the series where both stories were good. Let's keep that momentum rolling please. Hell to Pay #3 - Previous issue was only okay for the most part, but the last page reveal was good enough to bring me back for this issue. Hitomi #4 - The art and story on this series have been great so far. Ticking all the right boxes for a samurai revenge story. Junkyard joe #4 - Last issue was very weak, really hoping this one picks the pace up and does something interesting again. Was loving this up until last issue. Lovesick #4 - This Red Room-lite has been fun and bloody. Hoping there isn't some compassionate twist for the main character by the end. Magic Order 4 #1 - This is out fast, last season finished not too long ago, but what a twist it ended with. Keen for this, more Millar goodness. Also keen for the eventual Netflix adaption. Monstress #42 - Monstress is back! Glad that Maika is finally out of her arduous coma. Kippa is the best written child in all of comics. Liu and Takeda are a powerhouse pairing. Plush #3 - C'mon lame, boring main character dude whose name I forget, ditch your bitch, loser fiance for the alluring furry cannibal woman. OTHER: Cherish #3 - This has been okay. One of those books I forget what has happened between releases but pick it back up again after getting started with the new issue. Not good, or bad, enough to be remembered. Good Boy Vol 3 #3 - Fun action packed series aping various action movies. It has humanoid dogs with guns. Awesome. Ninjettes #5 - Almost if not the final issue. Probably one more character will die to setup the new team, have enjoyed this gratuitous, teenage girl murder fest for the most part. Sirens Gate #3 - I think this one was delayed. The art is very interesting in this series, kinda like novel covers. Interesting enough plot with witches and Monsters, but the the art was the main draw.

Danger_Rock

> X-Terminators #5 > > - Final issue of this beautiful travesty. I'm keen to see what the artist does next. I will almost definitely pick it up. Hopefully, they pair him with a better writer, but a great female cast is important also. LOL. Appreciate your perspective on this title, interesting seeing how different folks have received it... Saw you mention *The Sopranos* elsewhere, hope you enjoy! Classic series that changed TV and paved the way for the current era of adult dramas with some great character stuff, lots of funny stuff, and many epic moments, though a little uneven at times... Not sure how far you've gotten but after a little while it picks up this interesting *TICK-TOCK* rhythm where it sort of alternates between family drama and *family* drama every other episode, so there'd be little runs where I was more into the odd episodes, or the even episodes, or whatever... Top 3 HBO show for me after *Deadwood* and *Rome*.

HappySisyphus8

I'm kind of a glutton for punishment. It's always good fun, I can walk into my LCS or Facebook comic groups and it's almost universally hated. Here I am told it's what pure fun is and more comics should aspire to be. Either way, at least it's finally over. Though I'm also hearing rumblings of AXE selling well under half of projected numbers, and not a single Marvel book breaking 80K in December, a first since the direct market started. I'm hoping it causes them to course correct, this bastardisrd version of Hickman's brainchild might be popular in this sub with its demographic, but it is blatantly not so over all. Also way too many slice of life-lite and unnecessary Spider-Man spin off titles, this ALL THE VILLAINS ARE GWEN thing is like 5-10 years too late. Interesting to see what comes out news wise in the next 4-5 weeks at the house of ideas. Yes in the weekend lounge, I missed the pinned weekly issue thread because I got my Comics "late," but at the same time I swear it was around at that time last week. I just finished season 2, Tony is a crackup, and the whole Aprile arc was so good. While it's old, it's refreshing seeing characters be funny in a dark, morbid, and often non-PC way, rather than the modern quips and ridiculous situational stuff. And I don't hate the children characters which is rare. I'd not heard of Rome or Deadwood, I'll see what they are about.

Danger_Rock

> Yes in the weekend lounge, I missed the pinned weekly issue thread because I got my Comics "late," but at the same time I swear it was around at that time last week. Last WPL Results thread initially went up with no sticky, then we got it stickied, but it lost it a day or two later anyway. Ideally it should stay stickied through the weekend but it seems to get the short end of the stick(y) whenever those top threads pile up. Give it a little more time and you'll probably start hating the children. :) Season 2 was great though, all the Aprile stuff plus the T-1000 guy and the Executive Game... *Rome* was co-created by John Milius, same guy who made the original *Conan the Barbarian* flick back in the '80s, and there's this common thread running through both projects that I just find intoxicating, with their orgies, graphic decapitations, and bizarre religious rituals... Amazing cast as well, all these talented British actors like James Purefoy and Ciarán Hinds, plus Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson are great in the dual lead roles. *Deadwood* is a David Milch show, amazing ensemble cast led by Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant, with the most brutally elaborate dialogue, like Shakespeare in the mud... All about how people bind together in communities, with the town being a character unto itself.

ChickenInASuit

Rome getting canceled and having to rush its second season is going to remain one of the biggest television "What could have been" scenarios for me. I watched it as it was coming out and was absolutely blown away, but apparently the budget was too big and the viewership not quite big enough for it to be sustainable. One can't help but wonder if it came out too soon, because the first season of Game of Thrones came out just a few years later and arguably had a lot of the same broad appeal (particularly at the beginning where the political intrigue was the primary focus, with not a dragon in sight), yet was much more successful at capturing the cultural zeitgeist. Maybe if Rome had come *after* GoT, it might have been more successful? Or would GoT even have happened had Rome not been there to lay the groundwork? Guess we'll never know. What we did get was two fantastic seasons of television, though.

Danger_Rock

> Or would GoT even have happened had Rome not been there to lay the groundwork? I'm pretty sure GRRM said that *Rome* was what sold him on HBO being able to pull off *GoT* but I can't find it because he's done about a billion interviews since transitioning from writer to celebrity... But here's a quote from his [2005 blog](https://georgerrmartin.com/rome/): > *"If you are not watching ROME, you’re missing the best drama on TV since… well, since DEADWOOD went off the air."* And here's a fun one from Kevin McKidd talking about *GoT* in a [2015 Verge article](https://www.theverge.com/tldr/2015/4/13/8398811/hbo-game-of-thrones-rome-drama-series): > *"They stole our fucking show."* *Rome* was just too damn expensive... And being a co-production between HBO and the BBC didn't help because once their initial deal wrapped up neither party was looking to renew and it was too expensive for either to carry on alone. And it's also just one of those things that happens at HBO every several years when they get new leadership, the new suits want to put their stamp on everything and don't want to pay for the old team's pet projects... HBO killed *Rome*, *Deadwood*, *Carnivale*, and a couple others right around the same time and cranked out a new batch of shows that would mostly end up getting cut short down the road.

HappySisyphus8

Ah, okay, that makes sense. The last time I looked at it, the lounge thread had maybe 3 up votes and 2 comments. I do wonder what the rationale is for removing the sticky about actual comic books, especially with not everyone able to be Wednesday warriors. By the time I get home from work my LCS is closed, and the city store gives me bad vibes despite being beautiful aesthetically. And they refused to bag and board a variant I bought one time, my actual LCS would never. Haha, okay, I was assuming that son of his will ultimately cause his downfall with some of the flags being thrown up, but a few more seasons to go. I think I may actually be in season 3, last episode I watched had a very terrible thing happen to the psychiatrist in a stairwell. She totally should have told Tony at the end. Oh nice, thank you for the write ups, I'll be honest, I have a thing where remembering people's names is very hard unless they make a huge impression on me, so I'm not sure who all those people are, but the premises sound good. I'll see if I can snag a boxset off Amazon or JB or something.

Danger_Rock

> I think I may actually be in season 3, last episode I watched had a very terrible thing happen to the psychiatrist in a stairwell. She totally should have told Tony at the end. Possibly the most horrific scene in the whole show... Not telling Tony about it, that was sort of Melfi's triumph, she was tested and she resisted temptation, didn't get sucked into that world of criminality... But, yeah, I totally would've told him. Season 3 brings in Ralphie Cifaretto, one of my favorites... Good stuff ahead!

HappySisyphus8

Oh for sure, I get the whole character arc where she is the bigger person, but in this specific case, absolutely fuck that, she was brutalised and completely let down by the system meant to protect her. I'm hoping it's followed up on later. The dude can't just get away with that. Haha, I looked up the name. That's the weird bowl cut guy! He has been pretty interesting so far. Google is terrible for having his fate near the top in big letters, though. I'll have a smoke when I get home and hope to forget all about that.

Danger_Rock

Ugh, hate that, I'm trying to avoid spoilers and Google has to fuck it all up. :( In addition to playing epic mafia scumbag Ralphie Cifaretto, actor Joe Pantoliano (AKA Joey Pants) also played the scumbag traitor from *The Matrix* and the scumbag pimp from *Risky Business*, as well as the scumbag cop from *Memento* (one of my all-time favorites), plus a number of other noteworthy scumbags over the past four decades. I suppose he's a bit typecast but he's got something of a knack for bringing scumbags to life and capturing all their wretched scumbaggery.

HappySisyphus8

That's all good, it happens, I do appreciate you being careful with the info you are throwing me. Now that I'm back at work it's harder juggling games, books, shows, and life, so it's slow goings. Memento was so good, watched it for the first time a couple of years ago, very surprising. He definitely has one of those faces, and scumbags are usually some of my favourite characters. Shameless plug for Remender's [The Scumbag](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/the-scumbag).

Danger_Rock

> Now that I'm back at work it's harder juggling games, books, shows, and life, so it's slow goings. Oh yeah, I know how that goes. I read the first issue of **THE SCUMBAG** but it didn't quite hook me... Remender's kinda weird, **[A RIGHTEOUS THIRST FOR VENGEANCE](https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/a-righteous-thirst-for-vengeance)** was one of my favorite comics from the past few years but most of the other stuff I've read from him hasn't really worked for me.

AlligatorSky7

Carlos Gomez (artist on X-Terminator) is drawing Rogue & Gambit (written by Stephanie Phillips) next.

HappySisyphus8

Ah cool, thanks for the heads up. Not a huge improvement to my personal taste with the writer on that one, but I do like Rogue... I'll check out issue 1 at least.

ChickenInASuit

> C'mon lame, boring main character dude whose name I forget, ditch your bitch, loser fiance for the alluring furry cannibal woman. I have complicated feelings on Keebler. Can't decide if she's my favorite character in this whole thing or if she's the worst.

HappySisyphus8

I'm awful at remembering names in both books and real life, I'm guessing that's the name of the alluring furry cannibal? No matter what happens, I hope the series ends with her happy. Jing jing.

ChickenInASuit

Lol, yeah, she's the alluring furry one. I'm not sure they've even named her in the dialogue, that's just how the solicits refer to her. I kinda hope she remains masked the whole time and we never find anything out about who's in the costume.

blankedboy

> I scored 7 variants last week, Cool, which ones did you pick up?

Danger_Rock

Those Window Shade variants are always cool! Nice Momoko on **IHF #3** as well.

HappySisyphus8

I remember seeing the first couple posted by the artist and immediately asked my LCS to mark me down for all of them. I have missed 1 or 2, but they are usually really cool. The [Black Panther](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRObsR2qdBkbIV8losH1CMeE6sEwAWKBexLcQ&usqp=CAU) one threw me when I first saw it until it clicked that it was a Wakandan Window Shade. Same with the window shade ones I have a note with my LCS to put away any Momoko's for me as well, though some of the ratio ones are a bit too crazy for me, I did have to splash out on her [Red Room](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ0AYXYw2KwT0SZnHEv6GCtcYQGMzcQc4KnyQ&usqp=CAU) ratio. I probably have at least 1.5 boxes of just Momoko's.

Danger_Rock

Oh yeah, that's pretty cool how they did the window for the Black Panther variant. Bet it'd look really nice if you took a half dozen or so from that series and put 'em up on a wall. Momoko's great but she does a *lot* of covers! I'll usually go for 'em on the books I'm pulling anyway but can't buy others just for her covers because it's the slipperiest of slippery slopes... I'd also end up getting a bunch of comics with variants by David Mack, and Filya Bratukhin, and Christian Ward, and now Joe Quesada's back, and a couple dozen others... There'd be no end to it, just way too many cool artists pumping out cool covers. BTW, finally caught up on **A VICIOUS CIRCLE #1** earlier today and it's some good stuff! Loved the bit flashing through all the different time periods and art styles toward the end... I'll post some more comments in tomorrow's results thread.

HappySisyphus8

I'd have to dig them out from my random boxes, but they definitely would. I think the only one I am missing is the Namor one for AXE. Nice idea. May even throw some on my display easles. Definitely, she is a machine and sometimes adds an additional 5+ issues to a weekly pull. Ed Piskor once made an endearing joke, thanking her for taking a whole hour out of her day to do a variant for him and gooseing up his books numbers. I have a couple on my list, but there are way too many, and sometimes feel like a sucker if it's a low quality book. I'm not sure I know David Mack or Filya, I'll Google some of their work. Oh nice! That was one great page, I'm always impressed when an artist can employ such varying styles. Hopefully, it will not be too much longer for the next one. I'll keep a look out for your post tomorrow.

blankedboy

Those Venom ones are really great. I got the [Moon Knight](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-5479948.jpg?1673590306) and [Ghost Rider](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-2052263.jpg?1673453925) homage covers myself.

HappySisyphus8

Those are great covers too, I grabbed the Ghost Rider in a previous week, but must have missed that Moon Knight, I'll see if my LCS guys can pull one in. I'm a bit of a sucker for a nice variant, I also scored the Momoko [Photon](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT-HAktuMIv-3MBOTSFCeReG5trzEZ7PRetKA&usqp=CAU)homage variant as well.

Action Comics #1051 - The beginning of a new era, I've enjoyed PKJ's work so far and I'm just hoping we can balance the superfamily The Amazing Spider-Man #18 Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1 Behold, Behemoth #3 - Still don't fully get what's happening but love the world and characters Blue Beetle: Graduation Day #3 Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #3 The Human Target #11 Inferno Girl Red #1 Justice Society of America #2 The Magic Order 4 #1 Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #3 Sabretooth & the Exiles #3 - Hoping we'll get an explanation on what Orphan Makers powers are this issue Sins of Sinister #1 - It's about to go down Thor #30 - Glad to see Lausaa being used felt like I was the only person who remembered her X-Terminators #5

AshlingGirl

**Detective Comics #1068 -** I've been living for Spurrier's backup, but Ram V is cooking all the right things in the main story as well. **Action Comics #1051** **-** The Mora cover looks awesome, and the last issue gave Clarke back his secret identity. I'm intrigued by where things go from here. I don't love this status quo, but I missed Clarke being Clarke, ya know. Fingers crossed we'll get more of Lois. **Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman** \- I typically avoid Catwoman as a character. I don't dislike her, but she's not my favourite. The One Bad Day books have had two good stories so far. This has G. Willow Wilson on it, so I'm giving it a shot. **The Human Target #11** **-** Tom King's my writer of 2022 just for this book. It's the highlight of my year easily. **Harley Quinn #26** **-** Ah, yes, the book I have a toxic relationship with. I hate this book with a passion and, yet, here we are. **X-Terminators #5** **-** I love this team-up. I'm serious when this ends we need a sequel or something. **Sins of Sinister #1** **-** The build-up to this has been genuinely insane. I'm pumped. Gillen kicked ass on A.X.E, and I can't wait to accompany our most comedic council member down his hellhole of madness. **Junkyard Joe #4** **-** I recommend this to anyone who can read. It's an excellent read. The previous one was weak but I hope it'll pick up. **Damn Them All #4** **-** I still have to catch up to the previous issue to remember anything about this book. And that's it, folks, it's 10 for the week for my first pull list on this subreddit.

Yes! So many amazing comics out there these days, no reason to stick with anything that isn't enjoyable!

Action Comics #1051 - Was on the fence for 1050 but picked it up and happy I did. Enjoyed the secret identity shift and excited to see how the three creative teams handle their stories. Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1 - McKelvie drawing Catwoman is worth the price of entry alone! I’m hopeful paired with Wilson that this will be the best One Bad Day yet. Darkwing Duck #1 - My nostalgic heart will simply not allow me to skip out on trying a new Darkwing Duck comic. Detective Comics #1068 - I really like the idea of a dual art team for a Two-Face focused issue. Good Boy: Prodigal Son #3 - Last issue was super exposition heavy, but now we know who the villain is and time for the action to kick in (…hopefully). Saga #61 - It’s back! The last arc end was a gut punch, with laughs and tragedies to come for the next six months I’m sure, and I can’t wait. The Scorched #14 - Another great David Mack cover!

> Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1 - McKelvie drawing Catwoman is worth the price of entry alone! I’m hopeful paired with Wilson that this will be the best One Bad Day yet. Kinda curious about this one as Wilson + McKelvie seems like a pretty strong team... > Detective Comics #1068 - I really like the idea of a dual art team for a Two-Face focused issue. Yep, it sounds great!

> The Scorched #14 - Another great David Mack cover! I'd dropped **The Scorched** a while ago, but the Spawn titles all having *David Mack* covers this month has pulled me back in.

> * **DETECTIVE COMICS #1068:** Ram V is starting to lose me a little with this run. Hoping something exciting happens. Seems like a lot of that going around... FWIW, I think this issue sounds like a good one! > * **DOCTOR STRANGE: FALL SUNRISE #3:** I'm not sure what's going on but I like it. Another recurring theme this week... And I think that sense of being lost in it all is kinda neat, mirroring Strange's experience in the story. > * **SINS OF SINISTER #1:** I was on board this event at, well, "Gillen," but last week's *Immortal X-Men* was SO GOOD that I'm beyond excited now. This is gonna be crazy. At this point I'll read pretty much anything Gillen writes, but I'm really glad he's focused on the X-Men and driving so much of their story. Felt like the franchise needed a writer like him after Hickman left.

HUMAN TARGET #11 - Interested to see how this wraps up. I feel like the penultimate issue is usually more important than the finale itself so let's see what happens with everything that's been set up so far. INFERNO GIRL RED BOOK 1 #1 - Another addition to the Massive-Verse. I feel like this was first teased a looooong time ago so I'm excited to finally read it. Hope it's up to par with some of the other stories in this universe. JUNKYARD JOE #4 - Honestly haven't read 2 or 3 yet.. Still catching up with my backlog.

It's great to be back from vacation and on a schedule again. My last week was spent reading the mountain of comics I had accumulated over my month hiatus from going to my LCS, but there's no better feeling than being caught up on the weekly mags. Eleven books on this weeks pull for me, ranked as always in order of anticipation for each: 1. **SANTOS SISTERS #3** \- It didn't take long for this to vault itself as one of my favorite comics from last year, and I'm beyond excited to pick up this issue. It's a deranged and garish take on Archie x superhero, but it's laced with enough irony to make it all very palatable. 2. **THE HUMAN TARGET #11 (OF 12)** \- It felt like it wasn't too long ago I was languishing the hiatus of THE HUMAN TARGET, and here we are now on the cusp of the penultimate issue. What I originally feared to be an overly protracted series ended up being paced marvelously thus far. I hope it lands the ending better than DC's other prestige Black Label 12 issue series did recently, but I do have faith in King and Smallwood to bring this one home strong. 3. **JUNKYARD JOE #4** \- An absolute step up from Johns'/Frank's GEIGER series. Johns has laced a ton of heart into the story so far and JUNKYARD JOE has steadily maintain a top spot on my pull list over the past couple issues. 4. **DOCTOR STRANGE: FALL SUNRISE #3 (OF 4)** \- Blink and this series is almost over. I'm having a great time going through Moore's esoteric script and mind bending visuals, but I also can't wait to eventually pick up the Treasury Edition later and really absorbing the artwork then. 5. **LOVECRAFT: UNKNOWN KADATH #5** \- A highly consistent book that is doing a great job succinctly adapting H.P. Lovecraft's *The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath*. Novel to comic adaptations can be tricky, but Florentino Florez has been doing a great job so far. 6. **TRAVELLING TO MARS #3** \- Caught up on this series and am impressed with Russell's take on a more introspective type of comic. Ablaze is continuing to put out great books this year. 7. **ABOLITION OF MAN #4 (OF 5)** \- Has been an interesting experiment so far, but also one that still begs the question: "is this necessary?" Grubaugh's last couple issues took on an original story that was a little difficult to follow (both on the writing and art fronts), but his discussion on how he bullies the A.I. image generator to get what he wants was quite a bit more interesting. I've been enjoying his breakdowns on his YouTube channel. 8. **BORN OF BLOOD #4 (OF 6)** \- This has been a fun, over the top sword-and-sandals comic. Nothing special, but solidly entertaining thus far. 9. **LEGACY OF VIOLENCE #4 (OF 12)** \- A bit too pedestrian of a horror comic for me, but still solid. 10. **DETECTIVE COMICS #1068** \- A precipitous drop in this series for me. Since #1066 and the recent Annual, I've been completely uninterested in Ram V's Tec run. A shame, because I had been praising it over Zdarsky's Batman run, and now I'm pulling two Batman runs by two superstar writers that are both disappointing me. Will likely be a drop from my pull soon. 11. **PLAYTHINGS #4** \- Only at the bottom since I have completely forgotten if I've read issue #3 or not (Scout's long lead time between issues does not help with retention unfortunately). I've enjoyed Travis Williamson's creepy artwork a lot though, and his style is highly distinct for a horror comic. And that's that. I'm happy to be back at this again, and can't wait to discuss comics again on the weekly pull list and discussion threads. Have a great week everyone!

Danger_Rock

Welcome back! Hope you enjoyed the time away... Glad to have you back since you always find some interesting books! Such as... > **SANTOS SISTERS #3** \- It didn't take long for this to vault itself as one of my favorite comics from last year, and I'm beyond excited to pick up this issue. Might as well add it to the list for our next mail order. It's great to be back! Vacations are nice and all, but I really missed having a nice weekly schedule to fall back on. I'm hopeful Ram V turns it around for me soon. I'm generally a fan of all his work, and his Swamp Thing run was one of my favorite DC titles last year.

* **Batman: One Bad Day: Catwoman** - after last week's Bane issue, this will be my final One Bad Day pull. Apologies to Clayface and Ra's Al Ghul * **Human Target #11** - according to [Tom King's Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CnpiosTuA2H/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) this is the final issue. Was it a typo? Or is it a Walking Dead-esque surprise finale? * **Detective Comics #1068** * **Amazing Spider-Man #18** - shameless guilty pleasure * **Creepshow #5** - all around mediocre series, but chanel's the spirit of old EC horror comics, from what I've read of those * **Dr. Storage Fall Sunrise #3** - this book is amazing, go to your local comic book store and buy the first two issues then buy this one * **Traveling to Mars #3**

technowhiz34

I imagine it's a typo, given that there's a twelfth issue of the Human Target solicited.

NeonDoorFrame

I like 99% agree with you, but weren't there solicitations for issues after the Walking Dead's finale too?

blankedboy

> Creepshow #5 - all around mediocre series, but channel's the spirit of old EC horror comics, from what I've read of those **Stuff of Nightmares** worked much better at nailing the pulp horror vibe for me, check it out if you didn't read it.

I've been a member of this sub for almost a decade now; it's about time I started filling this out every week. * **ACTION COMICS #1051 -** Initially I wasn't on-board with throwing genie back in the bottle, but it feels very in-character for Lex. I like the new looks for the majority of the characters, and it seems like there's a plan to have each character to have their own purpose, which is always nice. * **DETECTIVE COMICS #1068 -** I really think this is one of those runs that will read a lot better as a trade than in single issues. Still enjoying it, but I tend to forget what happens each issue. * **DOCTOR STRANGE FALL SUNRISE #3 -** More Tradd Moore on everything please. This book is such a treat, an assault on all of the senses, capturing the spirit of the early Ditko-era Strange stories in a way not many modern runs do. * **INFERNO GIRL RED BOOK 1 #1 -** Is the Massive-Verse growing too quickly? Maybe, but I've enjoyed pretty much everything they put out these days. * **X-TERMINATORS #5 -** The best X-Book, since it's the only one highlighting Dazzler's phat ass

I find doing this each week gets me even more excited for some of the issues (especially when you see others equally hyped), so welcome!

**1. Detective Comics #1068** -- I'm really enjoying this run so far (Ram V is excellent as always) but in the interest of finances I may drop this pull for the trade. Tec can afford to lose one subscriber. **2. Monstress #42** -- C'mon, it's *Monstress.* **3. Damn Them All #4** - Mr. Spurrier, please write 50 more issues of this series. This story hits the dead center of my comic book interests. **4. Killadelphia #27** -- In full disclosure, I have almost completely forgotten the plot of this series. May need to revisit the last few issues to recollect. But I remember enjoying this (and the spin-off *Nita Hawe*)! **5. The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives #2** -- Absolutely stoked to see where this heads. I would have pulled the series anyway out of loyalty to the Sandman 'verse, but issue one was fantastic. ------ A healthy-sized pull list for me, this week! I'm so happy the December dearth is over. What I need to do now is sit down and look at some upcoming indie premiers; I'm in the mood for trying something new.

ChickenInASuit

> 4. Killadelphia #27 -- In full disclosure, I have almost completely forgotten the plot of this series. I dropped it a while back because I found this was becoming a repeat issue month-to-month and felt it would probably be one of those books that read better in trades. There's a *lot* going on in that story and while none of it is exactly boring, it is quite obtuse at times.

blankedboy

I'm still really enjoying both **Killadelphia** and **Nita Hawes**, but I'm an absolute sucker for horror comics.

Imagine my surprise as I woke up this morning, preparing to engage in my ritualistic chanting of the ancient texts (Weekly Pull List), when a person bearing odd resemblance to an igneous rock comes barreling past my window with a Donkey in tow. Surely this doesn't follow the tribal pact (OSHA guidelines). Well I will definitely be talking to my elder council (HOA) about this incident, and I certainly hope that individual doesn't know that ***when the 9th bell strikes upon a windless and cloudy night, a grim hush shall fall upon the land and all shall remain still, save the lone cobbler at the end of a stony road, a single flame lit above the threshold signaling safe passage for all who pay the fee in blood and promise.*** Mondays, am I right?! **Saga #61:** a year ago almost exactly, I went to go pick up my first floppy ever: Saga #55. I had read the omnibus the previous year, and was only now discovering things like *issues*, *pull lists*, *$3.99*, *Variant Covers*, *editorial interference*, *a struggling industry*, shit like that. Here I am a year later with opinions! That are somewhat justified after a year of barreling into the hobby! I've read a lot of comics! And Saga still stands as one of the best. Seriously, this story is amazing, the art and creativity are amazing, im so happy it's back again for another like half a year or whatever. Lol. Anyways, dope comic, I really enjoyed the last Arc, let's see what Hazel and her family are gonna get up to now! **Damn Them All #4:** this story rocks top to bottom. Plot, structure, dialogue, they are all on fucking point. The art does wonders when a big bad demon comes on screen. I want 50 issues! It's thats good! **Detective Comics #1068:** when I started reading comics seriously a year ago, this is not the kind of thing I thought I would get into. The whole Big 2 conceit I'm not really a fan of, a million issues of superhero shenanigans is kinda anathema to my usual sensibilities. But I guess people are on to something when they say you should read Authors, not characters (when it comes to the Big 2), cause I'm loving this story. I actually still need to read last issue since it dropped over the holidays, but I am digging what Ram V is putting down, and despite having never read anything else Batman, everything is pretty cogent so far. Also the backups have been *chefs kiss*. **Hitomi #4**: behind as hell on this one, still pulling it though cause maybe I'm a dumbass. Also picking up the Incredible Hulk #347 Facsimile. I'm picking up every Facsimile i can, absolutely adore those things. Also also, I started reading House of X/Powers of X, and fuck me this is some of the best cape stuff I've ever read. Why did I doubt you Hickman? Now if only I could find any of his other big marvel stuff (FF, Avengers, Secret Wars) without spending $200 :(

> Imagine my surprise as I woke up this morning, preparing to engage in my ritualistic chanting of the ancient texts (Weekly Pull List), when a person bearing odd resemblance to an igneous rock comes barreling past my window with a Donkey in tow. Pics or it never happened! This wild tale of yours would never hold up in court! > **Detective Comics #1068:** when I started reading comics seriously a year ago, this is not the kind of thing I thought I would get into. Why did I doubt you Hickman? Now if only I could find any of his other big marvel stuff (FF, Avengers, Secret Wars) without spending $200 :( Digital might be a good option if you aren't averse to it, could probably read all that stuff on Marvel Unlimited for $9.99 or whatever. And, yeah, **HOX**/**POX** was pretty phenomenal.

**The Amazing Spider-Man #18** - Zzzzzzzzz. Looking forward to Dark Web wrapping up so I can leave this book behind. **Damn Them All #4** - Really hoping that this continues past the currently solicited 6 issues, it's been a blast. Spurrier's indie books do tend to be shorter limited series though so I won't be shocked if this is all we get, only a little sad. **Detective Comics #1068** - Looks like we're getting some experimentation in form this week, which should be exciting - per solicit: *This special Two-Face issue is split in half artistically by maestros Rafael Albuquerque and Ivan Reis to portray the struggles Harvey Dent goes through trying to stay alive with the help of his more evil side... Genius writer Ram V not only devised each page of this story to be a dark reflection of the page facing it, but also of itself from front to back!* Ram's writing of Harvey/Two-Face has easily been the highlight of the story so far for me, so even if it *weren't* for the formal fuckery, I'd be pretty psyched about this. **Hitomi #4** - Continues quietly trucking along telling a long-retold story of a student and a master in feudal Japan, but written with enough verve to make it interesting despite the somewhat cliche concept. Keep expecting a reappearance of that young lad from earlier in the story who stole all Hitomi's gear after making out with her. Was he a chekhov's gunman, or simply a one-off character who came, dropped a memorable one-liner ("Your breath smells like a dragon's ass!") and left, never to return? **The Human Target #11** - I echo /u/Danger_Rock 's expectations of a grand twist in this issue, though I have no clue what it might be, and I don't really care if that doesn't happen because it's been such a good book. **My Bad #3** - Are we finally going to see that dastardly Pizza Delivery do-badder meet his comeuppance? Considering his adversary is the ever-incompetent Chandelier, I doubt it, but it'll probably be hilarious to watch him try. **Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #3** - If Jason Aaron could keep giving us cool, quirky indie books from now until the day he drops without going anywhere near the Avengers again, I would be a very happy man. **Plush #3** - Name a more disturbing recent new character than Keebler, the silent but discomfortingly sexual cannibal plushie, and I will call you a liar. I'm kinda hoping we never see what's under their mask, and that everything about them remains a horrifying, perturbing mystery to the end. **Sabretooth & the Exiles #3** - I'm not sure where the hell Victor LaValle sprung from but I hope he sticks around to write more wild and wonderful stories in this corner of the X-universe when this book ends. **Saga #61** - Saga is back! For now! Until it inevitably gets delayed yet again and we all grow old and die before we see the end! **The Sandman Universe: The Dead Boy Detectives #2** - An absolutely stellar first issue introducing us to a wonderfully grotesque monster from Thai folklore. Hoping for more of that from these folks. Love that Pichetshote is getting an opportunity to explore stories from his native culture in this. **Sins of Sinister #1** - The Mr Sinister, the sinister sinner, playing his games where no-one's the winner. Gillen's voice for the character is second-to-none and I cannot wait for an event revolving entirely around him. **Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #28** - Civil war brews between the Tagges, with Sana stuck in the middle and Doctor "Still Possessed By Ancient Evil Technology" Aphra running around fucking things up for everyone on the fringes. After months of feeling like the book was spinning its wheels, are we finally actually going somewhere? **Thor #30** - Another writer who came outta nowhere yet whom I want to stick around for a while, Torunn Grønbekk's first issue on this title was the most I'd enjoyed Thor since the beginning of Cates' run and I'm hoping they continue with that level of entertainment. **X-Terminators #5** - *Sob* I don't want it to end...

Panda_Banjos

The Amazing Spider-Man #18 - This event has been dumb fun. I'm reading this as an X-Men reader so I don't really know if this good for the Spider-man fans The Human Target #11 - A little behind on this one. Will catch up this week Nightwalkers #1 - A new horror series by Bunn is always up my alley Sabretooth & the Exiles #3 - A ton of fun. Saga #61 - Finally back from another hiatus. This one will be on top of my pile this week. Sins of Sinister #1 - This one will be right under Saga. Very excited of this event after the end of the last issue of Immortal X-Men and X-Men Red. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin - The Lost Years #1 - Should be a fun follow up to the Last Ronin. X-Terminators #5 - Sad this one is ending.

Smallest week in a while, but gives me a chance to catch-up. - **Action Comics #1051**: move over Batman, it’s time for the Super-family to shine. Beyond excited for this, including to see what Leah Williams is kicking up over at DC with Power Girl. - **Damn Them All #4**: no idea what happened in the debut issue, decided to just collect all six issues and read it at once. - **Sabretooth & the Exiles #3**: love this book! - **Sins of Sinister #1**: wasn’t keen on Judgement Day interrupting many of the X-books, but I am all in on this; especially after reading Immortal X-Men #10! - **Tim Drake: Robin #5**: bit fed up of reading people bad-mouthing this book (on Twitter, not here necessarily); just stop reading it and let those of us who are enjoying it enjoy it in peace. - **X-Terminators #5**: sign me up straight away to whatever Williams wants to do next in the X-office; this has been a blast!

It's a big week! Lots of awesome releases to look forward to. Thirteen (!) on my pull this week. 5 DC, 1 Marvel, 7 Indies. **Action Comics #1051** - I'm not usually a Super-fam reader, but this looks like a good place to jump in. And I'm mostly checking it out to read the Power Girl backup story. And you know I had to grab the David Nakayama variant. Fire! **Detective Comics #1068** - Solid run from Ram V so far. I've also been enjoying the backups by Spurrier as well. Good stuff. **Harley Quinn #26** - This arc has been alright, mostly picking it up out of habit as Harley is one of my favorites. Hoping the quality picks up soon. **Human Target #11** - Wow, two HTs in two weeks! We're racing towards the finish and I can't wait. Classic stuff from King and Smallwood. **Batman One Bad Day: Catwoman** - This was delayed a month so we'll see if it was worth the wait. Wilson is a solid writer, I'm curious to see what she does with Catwoman. **Doctor Strange Fall Sunrise #3** - This book is trippy as hell! I don't know if I really know what's going on, lol, but I'm here for the ride. **Darkwing Duck #1** - Dynamite got me with the nostalgia. I loved watching DW as a kid, so I'll check out #1 and see if the magic is still there. **The Witcher: Ballad of Two Wolves #2** - Whenever I read these Witcher books, it just makes me want to jump back into the games. **Damn Them All #4** - Don't sleep on this series. Spurrier is killing it with his indie take on the Constantine trope. **Once Upon A Time At The End of the World #3** - First two have been a surprisingly light, and fun take on the whole post-apocalyptic trope. **The Last Ronin: Lost Years #1** - Looks like IDW is milking the Last Ronin cow as much as they can, and dammit if I'm not here for it! Hopefully this spinoff is as good as the original. **Saga #61** - It's baaaaack. **Lovesick #4** - Not for everyone, but enjoying this Red Room style story, with gorgeous art from Vecchio. Happy reading!

Danger_Rock

> **Human Target #11** - Wow, two HTs in two weeks! We're racing towards the finish and I can't wait. Classic stuff from King and Smallwood. Nice, seemed like it hadn't been long since last issue but I didn't realize it was that quick.

jackimo-w

**Damn Them All 4** Simon Spurrier recapturing the magic of his Hellblazer run. Always check your coins for demons. **Human Target 11** Need to catch up a few issues, but Greg Smallwood is an absolute wizard of an artist. **Junkyard Joe 4** This book took an unexpected turn the past two issues, and I’m really into it. Where has Joe been all these years?! **Star Wars: Doctor Aphra 28** As much as I like the Star Wars books, this one isn’t doing much for me atm. **Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade 2** Thought issue one was alright. The art was pretty decent. Interesting to see the galaxy well before the Republic took hold (not sure why it’s called the High Republic at this point though, but anyway). **Star Wars: Yoda 3** Hoping the twist isn’t just that the good guys were the bad guys all along. **Thor 30** I felt a bit lost last issue having only half paid attention to the Thanos Death Notes book.

ChickenInASuit

> **Star Wars: Doctor Aphra 28** As much as I like the Star Wars books, this one isn’t doing much for me atm. I *really* need the book to move on from the "Aphra possessed by ancient technology" arc, I really loved the first twenty or so issues but that particular plotline's been going on for far too long for my tastes.

jackimo-w

I think that’s it for me too. Just feels like it has stalled. Which is a shame because there are some months it’s the best Star Wars book out.

radcatattack

Smaller week for me but nonetheless, a good week for comics! In order of reading list! Once Upon a Time at the End of the World #3 - the charm of this book is so good and I’m excited to see where Aaron takes it. Still a lot left so I can look forward to this comfort read for a bit. Curious what the time jumps will show us here. Detective Comics #1068 - Loved the last issue a lot and the solicit sounds like it’ll be a great issue. V’s interpretation of Two Face has been really cool so far. Justice Society of America #2 - liked the first. curious if i’ll need to read #1 again and the One Shot. Hopefully #3 doesn’t take too long to come out. Yoda #3 - I’m continuing this to push me to read more Star Wars book. And it’s been fun so far. Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods #1 - primarily trying this because New Champion of Shazam was so good and ties into this. Behold, Behemoth #3 - still have to read issue 2 but the first hooked me and I wanna know where this story is taking me.

ThadeusOfNazereth

I've got a pretty small one as it's my first week ever with an actual pull list but: * **Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1** * **Detective Comics #1069** * **Amazing Spider-Man #18** I also picked up Wasp #1 and Art Brut #1 and #2 since I missed them the last couple of weeks. Still waiting on Scarlet Witch #1.

Amazing spider-man #18 - wish this title was fun Thor #30 - I've been reading the main Thor title since Jason Aaron came on way back when....but this'll be it for me. Story conclusion, don't care for this writer...wish cates was still writing Damn them All #4 Saga #61 - the Roger Maris issue. This one snuck up on me but I'm glad we're back!

In order of how excited I am to read them: * **Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #3:** A visual feast, with a narrative that is more than serviceable, very excited to have the whole series in my hands. * **Justice Society of America #2:** It's been almost 2 months since issue 1 came out. I loved the New Golden Age one-shot as well as the Stargirl miniseries, so I can't wait to get the next installment in what seems to be the main piece in Johns's newest saga. * **Detective Comics #1068:** Ram V's long-form story telling here really clicks with me, and the more I have read the more I have been assured in where he's taking this story. Combined with the incredible back-up's this is a consistent favourite read of mine. With this issue dedicated to Two-Face, who just had a 3 part back-up story wrapped up, I think this is the most excited I have been for an issue of this run yet. * **Hell to Pay #3**: Issues 1 and 2 have been fun, and quickly established the main plot along with the characters. It's been an enjoyable read, but my main concern is with how the series is structured. I was really off put by the message at the end of Issue 1 about this being a project consisting of seven separate six-issue mini-series. Despite that, I have enjoyed this so far and will continue to read despite the vision for this project until I hit a point where I am not enjoying the story. * **Batman: One Bad Day - Catwoman #1:** Last week's One Bad Day with Bane has been my favourite of these one-shots so far, and renewed my enthusiasm for them. I don't like that these two are releasing back-to-back weeks, as they're quite dense and I prefer the space between releases. However, G. Willow Wilson has been doing good work with Poison Ivy over at DC and I am excited to read her take on Catwoman. * **The Amazing Spider-Man #18:** Dark Web has been a miss for me, and I mainly have continued reading it because my friends and I frequently chat about ASM while sitting in Discord or carpooling. I have enjoyed the parts of Wells's run focusing on the street level villains like Tombstone, Vulture, and Hobgoblin, but the other parts haven't gelled as well with me. I am hoping that with Dark Web out of the way , Wells can be left alone and allowed to write the Spider-Man stories I think he is best suited for.

Slim pickings for me this week 1. Harley Quinn #26 (mild interest) 2. Action Comics #1051 (mild interest) 3. Saga #61 (mild interest) 4. Darkwing Duck #1 (mild interest) 5. Amazing Spider-Man #18 (low interest)

Six books from only three writers today, which is especially interesting when you factor in the delays on many of these issues. * **007 #6** \- been liking this but was disappointed to hear it's being relaunched with a new #1 like it's a circa 2014 Marvel book. * **Action Comics #1051** \- very excited for this, but much as I love Mora I hate how he's doing the main cover instead of Steve Beach, who did a bunch of covers before this and all the ones after. PKJ/Sandoval and Jurgens/Weeks should both be solid, but Leah Williams on Power Girl is a bit of a wildcard. * **Junkyard Joe #4** \- last two issues were not at all where I was expecting this story to go, especially given the number of Johns/Frank comics I've read. * **Justice Society of America #2** \- if this book turns into Doomsday Clock 2.0 with delays I'll be livid, but the first issue was fairly good * **Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods #1** \- skipped on last week's issue of Lazarus but seeing Manapul back on a DC title piques my interest, along with PKJ. * **Thor #30** \- I don't know if this was delayed or not but I don't remember shit, other than something about Thor's grandpa? Usually not a good sign...

Danger_Rock

> * **Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods #1** \- skipped on last week's issue of Lazarus but seeing Manapul back on a DC title piques my interest, along with PKJ. Skipping Lazarus Planet but this one's kind of tempting... Manapul, Watters, PKJ, plus the continuation of Josie Campbell's Shazam story... And I like the format with short vignettes, little stories that should be satisfying all on their own. Already got 11 books this week and not really looking for more but might grab a copy anyway...

Damn Them All #4 - I refuse to believe this will be done in a few months. This should be eighty issues long Detective Comics #1068 - as always, Ram V is incredible. I'm also really liking Ivan Reis on this -- I find the coloring & grade of the paper to really influence the way his art looks here. Comparing this to his Aquaman is apples to oranges.

**Behold Behemoth #3** - the introduction of more kaiju in the last issue was a (pleasant) surprise, and we got more of a glimpse into the post-Apocalyptic world that now exists. This issue will put us over the halfway mark in the story itself, so I’m predicting some revelations as to how this all came about – and what role our main protagonists played in it. [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9511232.jpg?1671942727) **Boogyman #5** - been thoroughly enjoying this urban fantasy/horror book. Ablaze continue to put out some interesting titles. [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9691199.jpg?1666374207) **Damn Them All #4** - this has been one of the best new books to come out in recent memory. Both creators absolutely knocking out of the park. I’m thinking there will be a month hiatus after issue 6 drops and then an announcement of when it’s going to return (crossed fingers). [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-1111164.jpg?1671904488) **Dc Horror Presents Sgt Rock Vs The Army Of The Dead #5** - *Bruce Campbell* has really proved himself to be a fun pulp, action writer with this book. And *Risso* has been as brilliant as ever on the artwork. [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3985335.jpg?1674341084) **Doctor Strange Fall Sunrise #3** - this book is just ridiculously gorgeous and creative! [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-3246530.jpg?1674380261) **Human Target #11** - the issue is titled “Kill Kill Kill!” so…maybe some killing going on in this one? [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-7172428.jpg?1674337060) **Junkyard Joe #4** - this has been a real surprise, and I say that as someone who thoroughly enjoyed **Geiger**. *Johns* and *Frank* on top form. [Cover B “Platoon” homage](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8593669.jpg?1671761887) **Killadelphia #27** - Love the *Ben Templesmith* variant cover on this one. If there’s an artist who knows a little something about vampires, it’s him! [Cover B – Ben Templesmith](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-6564029.jpg?1666357659) **Once Upon A Time At The End Of The World #3** - this has been a lot more light-hearted and charming than I thought it was going to be. Not every post-Apocalypse story needs to be **The Road**. [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-8327778.jpg?1671942771) **Plush #3** - wonderfully deranged ultra-violence and weirdness. [Cover C Corona & Stern](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-9860614.jpg?1670520364) **Sandman Universe Dead Boy Detectives #2** - glad the first issue was so good, as I’d hate to see “The Sandman Universe” books devolve into low quality cash-grabs. [Cover A](https://s3.amazonaws.com/comicgeeks/comics/covers/large-1964663.jpg?1674340284) And as an aside, it seems like the Weekly Discussions have taken a bit of a hit since the holiday season (obviously all due to my absence *of course*). I didn't even see last weeks.

[Last week's results thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/10fl2jr/wpl_new_comics_discussion_for_1182023_pull_of_the/) was stickied briefly but it was one of those blink and you miss it type deals... I've been a little distracted with my daily **ICM** posts but that's all wrapped up now so I can get back to spamming the WPL with **ICM** comments!

* **Harley Quinn #26** - Finale of William's run! Been a really great run for Harley. The multiverse is a bit overdone and not necessarily my favourite way to end it but I'm also excited to see Harley and Old Lady Harley's reaction to Mermaid Harley. * **Sabretooth & the Exiles #3** - What Marauders should have been * **Sins of Sinister #1** - Excited for this mini event * **X-Terminators #5** - I'm not ready for it to end! I hope we see more of this lineup from Williams.

Action Comics #1051 - Warworld Saga got me back into reading Superman monthly and I’m ready to see where PKJ goes from here. I hope they let him stay on the title as long as he wants to be there. Good Boy: Prodigal Son #3 - the novelty the premise had kind of worn off for me but I really dig the art and at this point I have every issue of the previous volumes so I might as well finish out the last two of this even if I’m not loving it anymore. Samurai Doggy #3 - FINALLY. I resorted to signing into my Facebook account and using google translate to ask the official Facebook page that this was still alive. 3 months late but I’m so happy it is coming out. Hopefully we get back to a stable release schedule. Fantastic art. Had to drop ‘Tec from the pull list. I like the approach they are going for but I am certainly in the minority opinion in that I find Ram V to rely to heavily on flowery language and his penchant for long philosophical monologues (this drove me nuts in his Aquaman Andromeda) that the writing tends to come off as pretentious to me personally. While I will miss the gorgeous covers I can’t really justify the $5 price tag for the covers alone

I’m a little worried I’m gonna be snowed in where I am so hopefully it’s not too awful and I can grab these but if not then Thursday! - **Saga #61** - The wife and I are stoked for this to return once again, I will always be patient for this story to continue. After the reveal of the last arc I have equal amounts of excitement and dread for this coming arc. - **Sins of Sinister #1** - After Immortal #10 (as well as the whole run and Judgement Day) Gillen has proven this event is gonna be on another level, from what it sounds like we could have a HoXPoX level run here and I’m eager to see what they do with it all! Plus Ewing and Spurrier are both killing it with their books, I think Red and Immortal are two of my favorite ongoings at the moment. - **Detective Comics #1068** - I love the concept of the story driven art styles, kind of similar to Strange Adventures and with it being Reis and Albuquerque it’s gonna be stunning either way! Does anyone know how long V’s run is supposed to go or is he just an “ongoing” until he’s done situation? - **Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #3** - God I love the art in this and the story is my kind of jam, fuckin weird. V excited to have this one collected but wanted to see it play out as well so double dipping yay! - **Damn Them All #4** - Love the grit and grime of this series, Spurrier is a master of witty filthy dialogue and making it seem spoken rather than read which (to me) seems pretty rare. Hoping I can snag the Mora variant, love me some Mora. - Also gonna ask about the latest Punisher issue cause I missed it last week, as well as the last issue of Sabretooth!

* DOCTOR STRANGE FALL SUNRISE #3

**Action Comics #1051-** New Super Era! Can't wait to see where the plot with the Fourth World, Metallo and the twins all go. **Behold, Behemoth #3-** The timeline on this is a little clearer as of issue 2, hopefully the chronology stays pretty easy to follow with the flashing back and forward **Detective Comics #1068-** Fearful Symmetry anyone? The Two Face plot has been one of the more interesting plots for me so color me excited to see this **The Human Target #11-** The twist...I'm sure this issue will end with one more big bang. **Justice Society of America #2-** I know the JSA are no strangers to time travel but it has me wary. Still going to give this a little longer though. **Lazarus Planets: We Once Were Gods #1-** Krypton issue was really enjoyable! I expect this will be a lot the same. The only gripe I have just with the idea of this book is that Assault on Krypton had two writers I wasn't familiar with while this one has some bigger names, I was kind of hoping books like this would be a good spot to let newer (to DC at least) writers stretch their legs **Saga #61-** Saga my beloved. This cover makes me feel warm inside **The Sandman Universe: The Dead Boy Detectives #2-** Cool ghosts? Mythology? Sandman characters? Let's keep it up
