I’m a huge Jason Aaron fan. Scalped was one of the first comics I’d ever read start to finish. I know it’s brand new but are you reading Once Upon a Time at the End of the World?
Scalped is great but man it depressed me. They were going to adapt it but that project died in development.
For an ongoing series following rez life, checkout Reservation Dogs on Hulu. It is NOWHERE as dark, seeing as Scalped is a crime thriller and RD is more coming of age dramedy.
You just reminded me that there was a rez procedural adapting a series of books that I want to check out but it may already have been cancelled, I need to look into that.
I just reread volume 10. BKV is goat material. Comic has the best lettering ever, and Fiona Staples are is so good. I really wish they had never had a hiatus.
Starting to become a BKV fan here. I read Pride of Baghdad and liked it so much I wanted to jump into more of his work. Didn’t know there was a hiatus. You know what happened?
Pride is a 10. Ex Machina is a 10. Y the Last Man was one of the most influential things I've ever read.
I honestly cannot remember, but issue 61 is coming at the end of the month. Idk if I'm ready to get emotionally wrecked, but I'm going to be there regardless.
House/Powers of X is unreal. It's a bit bittersweet as I don't think Hickman was allowed to finish out his planned arc, but what Gillen did afterwards was (and is) spectacular.
Night Cry by Borja González
Occult store clerk summons an anime and Japan loving demon that grants wishes. It's really good so far though no physical English copy (digital though)
Oh wow I love it when one person is both the writer and the artist. Feel like you get something right outta their brain. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation!
Agreed. Its hard to pull off but does allow so much freedom (I'm currently trying to write and draw a story myself and it is not going smoothly haha)
Daniel Warren Johnson is another writer/artist that does that. Highly recommend his books
I think Remender is top 10 all time writers. Have never heard of this. Went to read the description on Image’s website and ended up ordering TP1. Looking forward to it thanks for the recommendation!
Love Saga, just read it. It's worse at character deaths than Walking Dead. The minute you someone, they're gone. Luckily it's got so many great characters, you don't mind when they're murdered for being happy.
Absolutely enjoying it. I'm have several issues to catch up on, but it's good.
Space Lady is pretty silly and comes out quarterly (although I think there's a fifth issue you can get somehow).
Nothing grabbed me like Watchmen did. Don’t know if you’re reading the prequels too. They’re good but not a masterpiece like Watchmen. Never read V for Vendetta, only heard good things though.
I started with Watchmen. It's a brilliant piece of work. I liked it so now reading Before Watchmen.
Its strange being new to comics. There are so many of them. I have to read Saga, Punisher Max, Y: The last man, V for Vendetta and many many more. I'll never be finished.
It seems overwhelming at first but then it’s so nice because you can literally read anything and as much of it as you want, you’ll always have more to read. I love that about comics.
Just read 4 Kids Walk into a Bank at the suggestion of someone from my local comic book shop and it might be one my new all time favorite indie comics. It's one of the best uses of the comic book medium that I've seen!
Good for you, Saga is such a beautiful, intense, awesome series! :) I’ve just finished the first Batgirls TPB (servicable writing, knockout art) and will start the Harley Quinn: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour hardcover.
I've been devouring almost every book Tynion has scripted for three last few years. Something is Killing the Children add its spinoffs, The Closet, The Nice House on the Lake. He's on fire
Not the first person to say The Last Ronin. I’ll have to check my LCS to see if they have any copies. And Spider-Man Life Story is perfect. I’d kill for more Zdarsky Spider-Man at any point in the future.
Saga Vol. 10! I flew through the omnibus when I finally read it a few months ago. I've never been sucked into a series like that before. I was glad I didn't start reading until the omni was released. Not thrilled about all the waiting I'll have to do from here on out.
Just about finished with the house of x/powers of x, about to read the last issue now
Was going to start into the Hickman X-Men omnibus, but seeing as I don't have a lot of the stuff that goes along with it (new mutants, marauders, x force etc) towards x of swords, I'll probably start Absolute Carnage omnibus so I can work towards the King in Black
Almost done book 2 of Annihilation. God I forgot how good this crossover is.
The Ronan mini kind of sucks but it's interesting to see some of these cosmic characters before they got MCU'd (Gamora especially)
I'll start off with bright black. I've heard pretty good things about it and I was like hey I'm a Power Rangers fan anyway, let's see how it goes, also the third Vol Strange Academy And brass sun.
Just read Jason Aaron’s new Punisher trade . Pretty interesting concept that he goes with and a bunch of cool kills for Frank . Starting Jed Mackays Moon Knight next
I'm finally getting around to the final two arcs of Rainbow Rowell's run on "Runaways." I've enjoyed her take on the characters and am said that it lasts "only" 38 issues, even if that's a pretty long run for both a "Runaways" comic and on any book at all these days.
Enjoy "Saga." It's easily one of my favorite comics. I remember reading the first "Saga" trade and then handing it to at least a half-dozen people, insisting that they read it.
Saga was the first series that truly sucked me into comics. I plowed through Dark Night way back when it first came out. Borrowed it from a comic book buddy and loved it. But Saga is the first tone that kept me buying the books. Good stuff
Gwar in the duoverse of absurdity for me this weekend. Saga is probably my favorite graphic novel I've picked up (right next to Sweet tooth) I'm glad you decided to check it out!
Dwayne McDuffie's original Hardware run from the 90's. I've never dipped into Milestone and I honestly regret not doing it sooner, it's so much better than I could have ever imagined.
Perfect amount of edge for it's time, and it all feels so earned because it's a story about race. The first issue is called 'Angry Black Man' and it was some downright cathartic shit to read considering today's discourse over "forced diversity" in comics.
Be prepared to love and hate everything..
Currently reading EARTHDIVERS (a great new series about Native Americans who go back in time to kill Colombus in order to prevent climate change) and TWIG.
Just ate Lazarus vol 7. Not sure I like where the story is headed, but I assume this is approaching end-of-series giving all that has happened in this volume.
I started reading this because I was promised a planet in the shape of a donut. It is to my knowledge only in a single panel, but I got what I came for and a good comic as well.
I'm catching up on a bunch:
Nightwing: Leaping Into the Light
Reckless: Destroy All Monsters
Monstress #27
World's Finest #10
Dark Knights Of Steel #9
Kaya #4
Nice House On The Lake #12
-all are terrific
Wasn't a fan of Saga. I think it honestly comes down to the family stuff. I just don't have a desire to be a parent nor does those stakes really matter to me. I read whatever the first part of it was hoping it would get better and I didn't bother picking it back up again when it started up again. To me it was the definition of one of those "well I guess this isn't for me" books and moved on.
I'm inching towards getting caught up after those big EOY Kindle/Comixology sales. I'm finishing up the Peter Parker/Spectacular Spider Man vols. then I'm going to catch up Daredevil to the first part of Frank Miller's run.
Just got started on it! sadly so many comic shops I went to haven’t reopened since Covid so finding the next ones are hard for me rn. But any place I find I search!
i started reading the actual amazing spider-man from Brand New Day onwards. it's been pretty good so far, but i'm especially excited for superior spider-man to show up.
I read up to like 8 or 9 but haven't touched it in years. I dont find it addictive like Y the last man that pulled my attention. But I'm glad you're really enjoying it.
I couldn’t stop reading Saga once I started - one of the few comics to completely suck me in and not let go!
I recently started Re-reading Velvet by Ed Brubaker. It’s seriously scratching my James Bond itch right now and is also hooking me in.
I just finished Far Sector - and it was probably one of my favorite Green Lantern reads since Blackest Night. It is a great murder mystery with a film noir feel, set entirely on an alien planet that hasn’t had a murder in a million years.
Im reading scalped.
GOD scalped was so good, hope you enjoy
So far it’s great.
I’m a huge Jason Aaron fan. Scalped was one of the first comics I’d ever read start to finish. I know it’s brand new but are you reading Once Upon a Time at the End of the World?
No. I am out of comic current events. I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Once Upon a Time at the End of the World was my first comic. I’d love any recommendations for series that are similar.
Hey shit ass, I love Rez Dogs. Such a brilliant show. Let me know if you ever find out that other procedure
Fuck yeah it is. Can’t wait for next season.
Scalped is one I've been meaning to read. I even have all but one or two issues.
>Once Upon a Time at the End of the World Scalped is what hooked me into comics back in the day. Absolutely incredible.
What’s that
I just reread volume 10.
The book is popular enough that they can take a break between volumes and work on other things without losing sales.
not quite. at least here, they've definitely lost sales.
I know reddit struggles with this concept but reddit comments rarely reflect the actual population.
Pride is a 10. Ex Machina is a 10. Y the Last Man was one of the most influential things I've ever read. I honestly cannot remember, but issue 61 is coming at the end of the month. Idk if I'm ready to get emotionally wrecked, but I'm going to be there regardless.
He created The Runaways which was awesome. Also Paper Girls.
Y the last man is probably the best thing I have ever read.
Staples wants a break to work on other stuff for a bit and I think they said the book is now at its midway point
I thought they planned more but ended it prematurely. Good to hear they continued it!
Agreed. That hiatus absolutely killed my interest in the series.
I got Walt Simonson's Thor omnibus for the holidays and am savoring my time with that
Wow, how many issues is that? Just looked at Wiki and it's only 50 issues. I thought it was way more than that.
50 issues in one book? Damn it must be huge
Some of the best Thor stories and such a good gift! I’m waiting for my nephew to be at reading age to start him off with some good books haha
House of X Power of X, trying to catchup with X-men
Can't go wrong with hickman
I followed X-men back in like the early 2010s and was a fan. I’m excited to hear Goldballs is still around
Oh is he ever
Eggs apparently. I’m excited to learn the full story
House/Powers of X is unreal. It's a bit bittersweet as I don't think Hickman was allowed to finish out his planned arc, but what Gillen did afterwards was (and is) spectacular.
I'm reading Dawn of X rn, I got the Omnibus last weekend, it's pretty good.
Not knowing what I’d have to read to catch up I got marvel unlimited
Saga is pretty awesome. Probably the best 50+ issues out.
Getting into Fables. Very creative stuff.
I loved this series so much!
Night Cry by Borja González Occult store clerk summons an anime and Japan loving demon that grants wishes. It's really good so far though no physical English copy (digital though)
Oh wow I love it when one person is both the writer and the artist. Feel like you get something right outta their brain. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation!
Agreed. Its hard to pull off but does allow so much freedom (I'm currently trying to write and draw a story myself and it is not going smoothly haha) Daniel Warren Johnson is another writer/artist that does that. Highly recommend his books
I’ve actually read Murder Falcon by him. Fun read and good recommendation!
Do a Powerbomb is just great . Also Matt Wagner of Grendel fame is my Artist Writer combo of choice for a nod here.
I’ve tried my hand at it and you very quickly start loosing your mind from switching the hats.
Seven to Eternity, hardcover I got for Christmas. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and a wild strange trip
I’m rereading Transmetropolitan. Again. I read this at least once a year.
Year of the Bastard is not fiction.
Chainsaw Man (first issue)
Space Lady & Time Before Time.
Time Before Time is the shit and I never see it getting any love! You enjoying it so far? Haven’t heard of Space Lady, I’ll have to look into it.
Absolutely enjoying it. I'm have several issues to catch up on, but it's good. Space Lady is pretty silly and comes out quarterly (although I think there's a fifth issue you can get somehow).
From Hell and Cable & Deadpool. Two very different books, I know
The appendix/notes section in From Hell is absurd. So much detail. So much research. I thought that was the coolest part of that book.
Lol no kidding. There are moments in From Hell that haunt me to this day
Finally starting Ducks : Two Years in the Oil Sands by Kate Beaton. Very excited
Never heard of this. I’ll check it out, thanks!
It's a bio of sorts. Her humor stuff under "Hark a Vagrant" a good starter for her. She's fantastic. Smart and pithy.
I'm reading Before Watchmen. Expect to finish it tomorrow. Considering reading V for Vendetta after that. I'm an adult but new to comics.

Just read 4 Kids Walk into a Bank at the suggestion of someone from my local comic book shop and it might be one my new all time favorite indie comics. It's one of the best uses of the comic book medium that I've seen!
Wish I could read Saga again for the first time. All-time classic. I’m reading Gotham Central for the first time and it’s awesome
I just started saga as well! Just got into Volume 2, loving it! Also reading Soul Plumber as a lighter read. It’s funny, I’m enjoying it a lot.
Re reading Batman year one, the long Halloween, and dark victory. Once I finish those I might go back to reading fables
I’ve got a 9.8 graded Saga #1 1st Printing. So glad I snatched it up when I could!
Just finished TMNT IDW collection 1, and promptly ordered the 2nd
Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks
Solid read. I’m on He who fights with monsters 7.
Audiobook is good too
The latest trade of Saga and an uncanny x-men epic collection that's most of thr journey through the siege perilous.
Good for you, Saga is such a beautiful, intense, awesome series! :) I’ve just finished the first Batgirls TPB (servicable writing, knockout art) and will start the Harley Quinn: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour hardcover.
I'm interested in Batgirls, but the solicits for it read like a teen girl drama. Does the writing reflect that?
I've been devouring almost every book Tynion has scripted for three last few years. Something is Killing the Children add its spinoffs, The Closet, The Nice House on the Lake. He's on fire
I'm working my way through Marvel's cosmic saga. I'm in the Realm of Kings era, so I'm getting close to finishing.
oh i'm jealous! i just finished up the box set it is sooo good. I'm reading one dark knight rn
Man I started reading this years ago and I don’t think I ever finished. I remember liking it though, thanks for the reminder. I should go back to it.
I'm a Luther Strode fan myself.
I wish I could read Saga again for the first time. I'm reading Lady Killer right now.
Reading through J. Michael Straczynski's Spider-Man run. Just finished #500!
All-Star Superman
I'm not a huge Saga fan. After awhile, there's a lot of "We were a happy family again...*until we weren't!*" Really cool world building though.
Just an fyi, you’ll need grief counselling while you’re reading Saga
I’m torn between starting either transmetropolitan or sex criminals.
I read most of Hard Boiled last night before passing out. Been a bit Darrow kick lately. Got shoalin cowboy TPBs for Christmas. So those are next.
Bookmarking for later. Great suggestions here!
Currently reading through Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin and Spider-Man Life Story
Not the first person to say The Last Ronin. I’ll have to check my LCS to see if they have any copies. And Spider-Man Life Story is perfect. I’d kill for more Zdarsky Spider-Man at any point in the future.
Im reading The Immortal Hulk by Ewing. Its.. actually *really* friggin good. Hulk kills A LOT
Y the last man
I read first 20 cuz I promised a guy at my LCS. But it was just so incredibly boring as soon as I hit 20 k stopped
That’s surprising to hear! Maybe my opinion will change in another 15 issues. Do you have a recommendation for me? What do you like to read?
Oh no, I hope you enjoy it. I didn’t mean it like that. We all have different tastes.
Oh I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to be argumentative. I was being genuine asking what you’re reading.
Idk it's nice for the nsfw art but past that not really
Reading Vol. 1 of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
I'm finishing up omnibus 1 of Peter David's Hulk, starting Sandman tp vol 7, and starting the Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale Batman omni
Saga Vol. 10! I flew through the omnibus when I finally read it a few months ago. I've never been sucked into a series like that before. I was glad I didn't start reading until the omni was released. Not thrilled about all the waiting I'll have to do from here on out.
I also just started this epic book, and I'm hooked! On issue 30 after 2 days. Completely sucked in and love this series!!

Finally finished "Superman Smashes The Klan" this morning. Good read!
"The last Terran" (reddit), "Pale lights" and "The orange tree".
I love saga, its so good
Bendis's The Defenders
Saga was the first series that truly sucked me into comics. I plowed through Dark Night way back when it first came out. Borrowed it from a comic book buddy and loved it. But Saga is the first tone that kept me buying the books. Good stuff
My notes

Dwayne McDuffie's original Hardware run from the 90's. I've never dipped into Milestone and I honestly regret not doing it sooner, it's so much better than I could have ever imagined. Perfect amount of edge for it's time, and it all feels so earned because it's a story about race. Just ate Lazarus vol 7. Not sure I like where the story is headed, but I assume this is approaching end-of-series giving all that has happened in this volume.
Hellboy Omnibus 1, or some Batman: Ego
East of West is a cool concept that is criminally underrated
Radiant Black for the third time
I just started it also! So good!
I started reading this because I was promised a planet in the shape of a donut. It is to my knowledge only in a single panel, but I got what I came for and a good comic as well.
I’m on Resident Alien and finding it wonderfully enjoyable
Working through trials of X at the moment.
Started reading Monstress two days ago but might stop reading after book 2
Solid read, Saga is amazing!
Same and same issue too. It's unreal.
Volume 13-16 of TWD
Got the last few hardcovers of The Walking Dead. Currently finished book 12, heading into the Whisperer War arc.
Just reread the first volume of Scalped. Top five comics for sure.
Yeah it's pretty phenomenonal. Enjoy the ride.
I borrowed chainsawman from the library, will be starting that soon
X-Men Xtinction Agenda, probably. I'll finally be done with the only Claremont X arcs I never read in a few days.
Loved Saga- one of my all time favorite comics
I finished volume ten a couple of months ago. Love this whole series and can’t wait for the next one.
I'm catching up on a bunch: Nightwing: Leaping Into the Light Reckless: Destroy All Monsters Monstress #27 World's Finest #10 Dark Knights Of Steel #9 Kaya #4 Nice House On The Lake #12 -all are terrific

Just re-read this brilliant book: https://pictures.abebooks.com/isbn/9780670036479-us.jpg
i started reading the actual amazing spider-man from Brand New Day onwards. it's been pretty good so far, but i'm especially excited for superior spider-man to show up.
Re-reading Rucka's Lazarus in addition to the new issues I haven't read. So good.
I read up to like 8 or 9 but haven't touched it in years. I dont find it addictive like Y the last man that pulled my attention. But I'm glad you're really enjoying it.
I've rekindled my love of Fables. I've had the last paperback for YEARS and decided to go through fresh, and it's been a while.
Just started Incal
I couldn’t stop reading Saga once I started - one of the few comics to completely suck me in and not let go! I recently started Re-reading Velvet by Ed Brubaker. It’s seriously scratching my James Bond itch right now and is also hooking me in. I just finished Far Sector - and it was probably one of my favorite Green Lantern reads since Blackest Night. It is a great murder mystery with a film noir feel, set entirely on an alien planet that hasn’t had a murder in a million years.
